ROBBINS - Locie Shields Saunders, 90, of 160 N. Rockingham St., died Thursday, June 21, 2001, in Pinelake Health & Rehab Center, Carthage.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Larry Higgins officiating. Burial will be in Pine Rest Cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County, the widow of Ervin Saunders and was retired from Robbins Mills.

Surviving are son, Ray Saunders of Charlotte; daughters, Julia S. McLeod of Charlotte, Rebecca S. Myrick of Carthage; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 7-9 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home.

Lisa J. Bales
RAMSEUR - Lisa Jester Bales, 44, of 1259 Wright Country Road, died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church in Ramseur, where she was a member, with the Rev. Shirley Massey and the Rev. Justus McKeel officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Knoll Cemetery.

She was a native of Portsmouth, Va., and a homemaker.

Surviving are son, John Austin Bales of Ramseur; daughter, Felicia N. Ross of Greensboro; parents, Marcell and Margaret W. Jester of Ramseur; brother, J. Brent Jester of Ramseur; sister, S. Therese Jester of Ramseur.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 7-9 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home of Marcell and Margaret W. Jester, 1248 Wright Country Road.

William C. Hinson
CANDOR - William Claude Hinson, 93, of Norman Drive, died Friday, June 22, 2001, at Autumn Care of Biscoe.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Sardis United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Lacy Frye and the Rev. Fred Richardson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Lancaster County, S.C., and was a farmer.

Surviving are wife, Alma Greene Hinson; daughters, Mary McDowell of Denton, Claudia Spoon of Aiken, S.C., Irene Reeves of Wilmington; sons, James Hinson of West End, Ernest Hinson of Biscoe; brother, Jack Hinson of Kershaw, S.C.; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Briggs Funeral Home, Candor, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday.

Cleo M. Seawell
NEW LONDON - Cleo Melvin Seawell, 67, of 2831 Badin Lake Road, died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at his home.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Prospect Baptist Church cemetery, Troy, with the Rev. Bobby Lee Brock officiating.

He was a native of Randolph County, a retired carpenter and had built piers on Badin Lake.

Surviving are wife, Margie Seawell of the home; daughters, Pam S. Tysinger of Asheboro, Carol S. Morris, Barbara Seawell, both of Badin Lake, Debbie S. Landis of New London, Amy S. Dennis of Mt. Gilead; sons, Billy Ray Seawell, Mark Seawell, Arnold Seawell, all of Badin; mother, Ella Mae Seawell of Cedar Falls; brother, Harold Seawell of Cedar Falls; sisters, Martha Norris of Grays Chapel, Ann Thompson of Randleman; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday.

Lorraine S. Harless
RANDLEMAN - Lorraine "Cookie" Snodgrass Harless, 61, of 116 Northwood Drive, Asheboro, died Saturday, June 23, 2001, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, with the Rev. Jon Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in Meadow Gardens, Davidson, Mich.

She was a native of Kanawha County, W.Va., a member of Forest Park Baptist Church, and was retired from Sears in Flint, Mich.

Surviving are sons, Dennis Harless of Asheboro, Kenneth Harless of Flint, Mich.; daughter, Jackie Brown of Flint, Mich.; brother, Joe Snodgrass of Hernshaw, W.Va.; sister, Mozzelle Crockett of Hershaw, W.Va.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Forest Park Baptist Church, 132 Gum St., Randleman, N.C. 27317.

Rev. Roy Shoffner
LIBERTY - Rev. Roy Shoffner, of 111 S. Carter St., died Friday, June 22, 2001, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Lewis Grove Holiness Church, where he was the pastor. Burial will be in Amos Grove Cemetery.

He had formerly pastored in Rutherfordton and was the ruling Elder of the Southern District.

Surviving are brothers, Jack Shoffner, Percy Shoffner, George Shoffner, A.J. Shoffner, all of Liberty, Robert Shoffner of Greensboro, Raymond Shoffner of Reidsville; sister, Alvenia S. Cheek of Liberty; stepdaughters, Willie Mae Benton, Alma Jean Sellers, both of Greensboro.

The family will be at the church 6-8 p.m. Sunday.

Kimes Funeral Service, Liberty, is in charge of the arrangements.

Stephen W. Sims
MOCKSVILLE - Stephen Wayne Sims, 17, of Daniels Road, died Saturday, June 23, 2001, at his home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Eaton Funeral Chapel, Mocksville, with the Rev. Clyde Settle and the Rev. John Hoots officiating. Burial will be in Jerusalem Baptist Church cemetery.

He was a native of Davie County, employed with BiLo Supermarket, and was a rising senior at Davie County High School, where he had been a member of the ROTC.

Surviving are mother, Peggy Robbins Sims Ellison of Mocksville; stepfather, Kenneth Ellison of Mocksville; sister, Penny Moore of Mocksville; brothers, Melvin Sims Jr. of Lexington, Mark Sims of Salisbury; grandparents, Addie Robbins of Mocksville, Colin and Lucille Ellison of Liberty.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Sunday.

Edward L. Moore
RANDLEMAN - Edward Lester Moore, 69, of 6083 U.S. 311, Sophia, died Saturday, June 23, 2001, at his home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, with the Rev. Bill Barnes, the Rev. Avon Craven, and the Rev. Ken Barnett officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park with military honors.

He was a native of Pittsylvania County, Va., a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, was retired from Southern Dye Co. in High Point, and was a member of Sophia Baptist Church.

Surviving are wife, Brenda W. Moore of Sophia; sons, Edward L. "Eddie" Moore Jr. of Greensboro, Michael W. Ingram of Asheboro; daughters, Patricia I. Corder of Grays Chapel, Diane I. Britt of Thomasville; sisters, Francis Butler of Sutherlin, Va., Hattie Felts of Ivor, Va., Nora Soloman of Danville, Va.; brothers, Charlie Moore, Jimmy Moore, both of Alton, Va.; eight grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Monday.

Diamond P. Abrahams
LIBERTY - Diamond Paige Abrahams, infant daughter of Linda Ware and Hank Abrahams, died Saturday, June 23, 2001, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gilmore Memorial Park in Julian.

Surviving, in addition to her parents, are brothers, Tommy Ware, Joey Ware, Hankie Abrahams; grandparents, Martha Humble of Liberty, Bonnie and Henry Abrahams of Bear Creek.

The family will be at the home of Linda Ware, 6339 Sandy Creek Church Road, Liberty.

Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, is in charge of the arrangements.

Addie A. Hedrick
LEXINGTON - Addie Maranda Andrews Hedrick, 84, died Saturday, June 23, 2001, at Brian Center Nursing Care.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, Thomasville, with the Rev. Tim Gammons officiating. Burial will be in Walters Grove Baptist Church cemetery.

She was a native of Denton, the widow of Clifford Eugene Hedrick, and was a member of Walters Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving are sons, Lester Edward Hedrick of Asheboro, Charlie Hedrick of Lexington; daughters, Lucille Cole, Irene Small, both of Lexington, Bernice Swaney of Denton; brother, Lewis Andrews of Denton; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Monday, other times at the home of Charlie Hedrick, 2118 Cid Road, Lexington.

Ethel O. Brinegar
WINSTON-SALEM - Ethel Orander Brinegar, 90, died Friday, June 22, 2001, at the Oaks At Forsyth.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with the Rev. Neal Eller officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.

She was a native of Patrick County, Va., the widow of Robert Abraham Brinegar Sr., and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

Surviving are sons, Robert A. "Buddy" Brinegar, Paul J. Brinegar, both of Winston-Salem, Wayne C. Brinegar of Charlotte; daughters, Ruby B. Walker, Nancy B. Baucom, both of Winston-Salem, Connie B. Lawson of Tobaccoville; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, including Alex G. Brinegar of Ramseur; four great-great-grandchildren.

Ann R. Winstead
ROXBORO - Ann Richardson Winstead, 71, of 254 Winhaven St., died Saturday, June 23, 2001, at her home.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Long Memorial Methodist Church, Roxboro,

She was a native of Montgomery County, attended Peace College, Duke University for a B.A. in education and sociology, and UNC for her master's of social work. She was the widow of C.C. "Bubber" Winstead, was employed with the Welfare Department for 32 years, had worked at Gambro Health Services and Home Health and Hospice as a social worker, and was the president and bookkeeper of Winstead Builders, Inc.

Surviving are daughter, Beverly Winstead of Timberlake; son, Cutch Winstead of Timberlake; sister, Louis Hartley of Winston-Salem; brother, Joe Richardson of Seven Lakes; half brothers, Vance Richardson of Pinehurst, John Richardson of Star; one grandson.

The family will be at the church 7-11 p.m. Tuesday.

Maisy L. Trogdon
ASHEBORO - Maisy Lassiter Trogdon, 95, of Asheboro, died Monday, June 25, 2001, at Asheboro Health & Rehabilitation.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with Elder Ralph V. Gaines and Elder Calvin Harward officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, formerly employed with Belk's, and the oldest member of Rock Hill Primitive Baptist Church.

Surviving are sons, Joseph Paul Trogdon and Ray L. Trogdon, both of Asheboro; daughter, Rachel Lanier of Asheboro; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home of Rachel Lanier, 1013 Macon St., Asheboro.

Truman M. Coble
RAMSEUR - Truman Malcom Coble, 84, died Sunday, June 24, 2001, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, with the Rev. Tom Hill officiating. Burial will be in Grays Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and retired from the Ramseur Broom Factory.

Surviving are wife, Geneve Sluder Coble of Franklinville; sons, Eugene "Brother" Coble of Lexington, Darrell Coble of Asheboro; daughters, Mary Lou Underwood of Lexington, Judy York of Bennett, Norma Cox of Franklinville; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home of Geneve Coble, 338 Pleasant Ridge Road, Franklinville.

CLIMAX - Delbert Lee Cable, 54, of 6423 Dusten Road, died Sunday, June 24, 2001, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty. Burial will be in Gilmore Memorial Park, Julian.

He was a native of Guilford County, a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church and employed as a salesman with FTI.

Surviving are parents, Kary Lee and Allie Modlin Cable of Siler City; sister, Marie Cowan of Asheville.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Alexander C. Willoughby IV
MT. GILEAD - Alexander Cleveland Willoughby IV, infant son of Alexander Cleveland and Allison Broome Willoughby of Havelock, died Saturday, June 23, 2001, at The Brady Birthing Center in Morehead City.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hamer Creek Baptist Church, Mt. Gilead, with Dr. Thomas Watson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Surviving in addition to the parents are grandparents, Rev. and Mrs. Alex Willoughby, grandmother and stepgrandfather, Jean and Tim Inkenbrandt, all of Mt. Gilead, grandfather and stepgrandmother, Fenny and Wayne Broome of Asheboro; great-grandparents, Mildred Willoughby of Lumberton, Hoyle and Marlene Lowder of Mt. Gilead, Raeford Broome of Ellerbe.

He was a native of Montgomery County, retired from Union Carbide, a World War II U.S. Army veteran and in the Civilian Conservation Corps.

Surviving are wife, Sara Allen Maness; daughters, Reba M. Cox of Jamestown, Elaine M. Cox of Asheboro; four grandchildren.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of William Julian, retired from Bost Neckwear in Asheboro, and she attended Faith Temple Baptist Church.

Surviving are daughters, Brenda J. Trotter and Phyllis Simmons, both of Randleman, Peggy Cox of Sophia, Sandra Hiatt of Level Cross; sons, William Julian Jr. of Randleman, Jimmy Clarence Julian of Tampa, Fla.; sister, Francis Coggins of Asheboro; brother, Bob Trotter of Bennett; 23 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Thursday.
