BISCOE - Dolores Parson, 65, 105 W. Auman Road, died Saturday, July 20, 2002, at her home.

Graveside service was held 2 p.m. Sunday at Leach Cemetery, with the Rev. Lonnie Poole and the Rev. Bucky Davis officiating.

She was a native of Montgomery County and a former employee of Clayson's Knitting.

Surviving are husband, Carvin Parson of Biscoe; sons, Kevin Brown of Robbins, Clay Parson of Biscoe; mother, Eva Saunders Truelove of Star; sisters, Carlene Logan of Texas, Lois McDaniel of Star; two grandchildren.

Phillips Funeral Home, Star, is in charge of arrangements.

Renie Rogers
SILER CITY - Renie Rogers, 81, of 867 Brower Road, died Friday, July 19, 2002, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lambert Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Farrar Funeral Service, Siler City, is in charge of arrangements.

James E. Needham Sr.
EAGLE SPRINGS - James Everett Needham Sr., 73, of 2319 Alton Road, died Sunday, July 21, 2002, at his home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, with the Rev. Mark Moore officiating. Burial will be in West End Cemetery.

He was a native of Montgomery County and an employee of Myrick's Construction.

Surviving are wife, Jeanette King Needham of the home; sons, James "Butch" Needham, Steven Needham, Bobby Smith, all of Robbins; daughters, Geraldine Mabe of West End, Terresa Morgan of Veedersburg, Ind., Cathy Parker of Wallace; brothers, Calvin Needham of Greensboro, Kenneth Needham of Norfolk, Va.; sisters, Jexie Reynolds of Greensboro, Katherine Hickmon of Memphis, Tenn.; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Monday.

Walter H. Conger
ASHEBORO - Walter H. Conger, 87, died Monday, July 22, 2002, at Cross Road Retirement Community.

Memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church. Graveside service will be held at a later date at Schenectady Memorial Park, Schenectady, N.Y.

He was a native of Keeseville, N.Y., and the widower of both Elizabeth Ellsbury Conger and Evelyn Powell Conger. He received his education in Keeseville and Schenectady, N.Y. He was a member of the Pine Grove Volunteer Fire Department in Rotterdam, N.Y., where he was the chief, commissioner, and president of the Rotterdam Fire Chiefs Association. He was president of the Hudson-Mohawk Volunteer Fireman's Association, a member of the Hudson-Valley Volunteer Fireman's Association and on the board of directors of Rotterdam Boys Club. He was a member of Princetown Evangelical Presbyterian Church where he served as Sunday school teacher, treasurer, deacon, elder and vice president of the Consistory. He was a member of the Rotterdam Kiwanis, where he was on the board of directors, elected lieutenant governor and 1st Distinguished Lieutenant Governor of the Mohawk Division, helped in the creation of the Kiwanis Boat Launch and was a lifetime member of Kiwanis International. He worked for the former Tank Gas Co. and was the founder and president of Tri-County Bottled Gas. He was a member of Dogwood Acres Presbyterian Church and he attended St. John's Lutheran Church.

Surviving are daughters, Linda Abbott-Trapp of Stockton, Calif., Nancy Culver-Pappas of Randleman; sister, Dorothy Peck of Rexford, N.Y.; brother, Jack Conger of Syracuse, N.Y.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, is in charge of arrangements.

ASHEBORO - Charles Edward Spencer, 59, of Asheboro Health & Rehabilitation, died Monday, July 22, 2002, at Asheboro Health & Rehabilitation.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Redeemed Church of God.

Surviving are father, Robert Cassidy of Seagrove; brothers, John Wesley "JW" Spencer, Ernest Cassidy and Robert L. Cassidy, all of Seagrove, George Andrew Spencer of Asheboro, William Cassidy of Biscoe; sisters, Portia C. Johnson of Ramseur, Emma Maness and Dottie McGriff, both of Seagrove.

The family will be at the church 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home of Andrew Spencer, 634 Tucker St., Asheboro.

RAMSEUR - Shannon J. Parson II, of 252 Silkwood Road, died Thursday, July 18, 2002, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Covenant Christian Church, Asheboro. Burial will be in Oakland-McCrary Cemetery, Ramseur.

Surviving are parents, Shannon and Trudi Parson of the home; sister, Zoe Onyea' Parson of the home; grandparents, Robert and Daisy Moffet of Asheboro and Randleman, Kurt Mullins of Greensboro, David and Dana Kimes of Ramseur; great-grandfather, Donnie "Jack" Brown of Ramseur.

The family will be at the church 1-2 p.m. Tuesday.

Marjorie K. MacFarlane
CARTHAGE - Marjorie "Midge" MacFarlane, 84, of Whispering Pines, died Thursday, July 18, 2002, at her home.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at The Country Club of Whispering Pines. Burial will be at a later date in the Kellogg family plot in Carmel, N.Y.

She was a piano teacher in White Plains and Mahopac, N.Y., and a member of the Whispering Pines Golf Club's "Ninettes" and of "Whispers." She was a graduate of Wellesley College, a member of the local College Club and a volunteer for the Coalition for Human Care, the Literacy Council and the Whispering Pines Thrift Shop.

Surviving are husband, Joseph MacFarlane; daughters, Kee MacFarlane of Whispering Pines and San Diego, Calif., Doris DeLong Hoffman of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; four grandchildren.

Fry & Prickett Funeral Home, Carthage, is in charge of arrangements.

CANDOR - Nezzie Lee Streeter of 156 Etta Drive, died Friday, July 19, 2002, at her home.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, with the Rev. C.L. Wall officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Surviving are sons, John Robert Streeter, Ernest James Streeter, Theodore Edward Streeter, Melvin Warren Streeter and Larry Curly Streeter, all of Candor; daughters, Katie Lee Goldsborough and Tema Faye Horne, both of Candor, Ida Bea Goldsborough, Ellen Arwilla Kennedy and Trumiller Winrow, all of Bridgeton, N.J.; 33 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren.

WEST END - Marie McKenzie, 63, of 847 Doub's Chapel Road, died Monday, July 22, 2002, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Doub's Chapel Church UMC, with the Rev. Eric Joyce officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of McDowell County, Va.

Surviving are husband, Patrick G. "Pete" McKenzie; daughter, Dorothy Jones of West End; sons, David Cochran and Landon McKenzie, both of West End; sisters, Dorothy Wall of Delaware, Ruth Pope of Virginia; five grandchildren.

The family will be at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home, Carthage, 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home.

Gena D. Alcala
DENTON - Gena Davis Alcala, 56, of Moss Spring Road, Albemarle, died Sunday, July 21, 2002, at Stanly Memorial Hospital, Albemarle.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Denton Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Charles Moses and the Rev. John Futterer officiating. Burial will be in Summerville Baptist Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Santa Clara, Calif., a homemaker and a member of First Lutheran Church in Albemarle.

Surviving are husband, Ruben R. Alcala of Albemarle; sons, Billy Beam and Mark Alcala, both of Denton, Jimmy Beam of Thomasville, David Alcala of Albemarle, Steven Alcala of Tannersville, Pa.; daughter, Debbie Axel of Willits, Calif.; parents, Charlie and Alice Davis of Madera, Calif.; sisters, Elizabeth Goetch of Madera, Calif., Loni Williams of Fresno, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

The family will be at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home of Billy Beam, Farmer Road, Denton.

Vestal McSwain
SILER CITY - Vestal McSwain, 78, of 1273 Palmers Chapel Church Road, died Monday, July 22, 2002, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Unity Power House Church, with Bishop William Goins officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.

He was a retired employee of Wrenn Brothers Lumber Co.

Surviving are wife, Peggy Johnson McSwain; son, James McSwain of Siler City; daughter, Judy Mason of Siler City; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Farrar Funeral Service, Siler City, is in charge of arrangements.

Ruby B. Parkin
RALEIGH - Ruby Allene Bunting Parkin, 63, died Monday, July 22, 2002, at Durham Regional Hospital.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, Raleigh. Burial will be 3 p.m. Friday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Beaufort, N.C.

She was the widow of Johnnie Cecil Parkin.

Surviving are her sons, Carlton Parkin of Raleigh, Johnnie C. Parkin Jr. of Stafford, Va.; mother, Clara O. Bunting of Asheboro; brothers, Gene Bunting and Bill Bunting, both of Asheboro; sisters, Margie Palmer of Mebane, Faye King, Pansy Harrington, Deb Murray and Sue Allen, all of Asheboro, Kat Kennedy of Atlanta, Ga.; four grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Thursday and at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Beaufort, 2:15-3 p.m. Friday.

Andrew DiDona
ASHEBORO - Aniello Andrew DiDona, 81, of 144 S. Randolph Ave., Asheboro, died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

He was a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., and a World War II U.S. Army veteran and Bronze Star recipient. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 20 years.

Surviving are wife, Grace Gizze of the home; sons, Edward DiDona of Long Island, N.Y., Joe DiDona of Asheboro; two grandchildren.

Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, is in charge of arrangements.

John T. Hall
ASHEBORO - John Thomas Hall, 58, of 1303 Westpointe Drive, Greenville, formerly of Asheboro, died Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Oaklawn Cemetery, with the Rev. Justus McKeel officiating.

He was a native of Randolph County, a U.S. Army veteran and an employee with the N.C. Food Bank. He attended First Baptist Church in Ramseur.

Surviving are wife, Brenda Beane Hall of the home; son, Eric K. Hall of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughter, Cristy M. Hall Raleigh; brothers, Bob Hall of Winston-Salem, Lynn Hall of Franklinville, Clarence Hall of Asheboro, Joe Hall of Kernersville, Ronnie Hall of Ramseur; sisters, Betty Crawford of Tucson, Ariz., Peggy Topping of Arlington, Va.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

Dorothy R. Lewallen
ASHEBORO - Dorothy Rich Lewallen, 73, of 1608 Danny Bell Road, Asheboro, died Monday, July 22, 2002, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Charles Stout and Pastor Raeford Brim officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Friends Meeting Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Colon Lewallen, a former employee of General Electric and a homemaker.

Surviving are daughters, Delores L. Wright and Lisa Lewallen, both of Asheboro; son, Steve Lewallen of Asheboro; sister, Evelyn Barker of Randleman; brother, Leon "Pete" Rich of Asheboro; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

Worth W. Winslow
DENTON - Worth William Winslow, 82, of 6912 Jackson Creek Road, died Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Bonnie Harris and the Rev. George McDowell officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

He was a native of Asheboro, a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a retired worker from Bossong Hosiery after 45 years. He was a member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church.

Surviving are wife, Juanita L. Winslow; daughter, Sylvia W. Ferree of Asheboro; son, Ronnie Winslow of Ridgefield, Wash.; stepdaughters, Ronda Reddin of Greensboro, Betty Chandler of Southern Pines; sister, Annie Belle Hoofner of Athens, Ga.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

ASHEBORO - Millard Philmore Gray, 80, died Nov. 23, 2001, in Fountain Valley, Calif.

Memorial service will be 12:15 p.m. Sunday at Calvary United Methodist Church, Asheboro, with the Rev. Frances Moran officiating.

RANDLEMAN - Edgar "Eddie" Franklin Moore IV, 37, of Randleman, died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at his residence.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Greensboro, with the Rev. Tommy Harrold officiating.

He was a native of Guilford County, a former member of the Archdale Jaycees and a dry wall installer.

Surviving are wife, Sandra Brinkle Moore; daughter, Holly Moore; son, Edgar "Eddie" Moore V; parents, Edgar "Frankle" Moore III and Glenda Moore of Greensboro, Ann and Gene Vickers of Bear Creek; grandmother, Ruth Parrish of Trinity, grandfather, Edgar F. Moore Jr. of Greensboro; great-grandmother, Leatha Moore of Greensboro; sisters, Tammy Perry, Melinda Vickers; brothers, Scott Vickers, Jason Vickers; stepbrother, Timothy Paschal of Zuni, Va.; stepsister, Teresa Middlebrook of Greensboro.

RANDLEMAN - Neal Elmer Routh, 78, of 216 Spencer St., died Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church, where he was a member. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

He was a native of Randolph County, a World War II U.S. Merchant Marines veteran, a former alderman for the City of Randleman, and the former owner of Circle Inn Restaurant and Green Acres Golf Course.

Surviving are sons, Randy Routh, Tim Routh, Alex Routh, all of Randleman; daughter, Julia Mann of Trinity; brothers, Allen "Jake" Routh, Tom Routh, Milton Routh, all of Randleman, Clinton "Spud" Routh of Florida, Burton Routh of Texas; sisters, Jessie Massey, Bobby Lineberry, both of Randleman, Kate Hollingsworth of Sophia, Helen Griffin of Louisiana, Glayds Brown of Franklinville; seven grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 10 stepgreat-grandchildren.

ROBBINS - Dorothy Rouse Black, 66, of 156 Shady Lawn Road, died Thursday, July 25, 2002, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at First Wesleyan Church, where she attended, with the Rev. Wilson Harris and the Rev. Bob Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Pine Rest Cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County, a member of the Ladies Sunday School Class at her church and a homemaker.

Surviving are husband, Earl R. Black; daughters, Phyllis Moore, Brook Brown, both of Robbins, Janet Jackson of Burnsville; son, Todd Baxter of Robbins; grandson, Ryan Green of the home; sisters: Ethel Miller, Margaret Rivas, both of Aberdeen, Geraldine Simmons of West End; Betty Morgan, Doris Rouse, Elaine Baxter, Eileen Brewer, all of Robbins; brothers, Herbert Rouse of Fairfax, Va., Haroldine Rouse of Robbins.
