LIBERTY - June A. Lowe, 92, of 603 E. Teague Ave., died Monday, Jan. 18, 1999, at Asheboro Health & Rehabilitation Center.

A graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Fairview Cemetery, with the Rev. Gene Booker and the Rev. Bryan Fox officiating.

He was a native of Randolph County and a member of First Baptist Church.

Surviving are wife, Elizabeth Shepherd Lowe of the home; daughters, Shirley L. Teague, Sandra L. Dixon, Sylvia L. Kirkman, all of Liberty, Sara L. Williams of Siler City; sons, James Franklin Lowe, Jan Garland Lowe, both of Liberty, John Edward Lowe of Raleigh; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Russell R. Poole Sr.
SILER CITY - Russell Roy Poole Sr., 75, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, at Duke University Medical Center, Durham.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, with the Rev. Thomas Sweeley officiating. Burial will be in Chatham Memorial Park.

He was a retired Chatham County jailer, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are sons, Russell R. Poole Jr. of Siler City, Tommy Lee Poole of Bennett; brothers, Clay Poole of Greenville, S.C., Jimmy Poole of Apex; sister, June M. Kennedy of Kinston; five grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home of Russell R. Poole Jr., 367 Hudson Road, Siler City.

Jack B. Taylor
HIGH POINT - Jack Bruce Taylor, 68, of Sunrise of the Triad, formerly of Elm Towers, died Monday, Jan. 18, 1999, at the nursing facility.

A cryptside service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Floral Garden Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Lonnie H. Wymer Jr. officiating.

He was a native of Surry County, a U.S. Air Force veteran and had been employed with the City of High Point in the transportation department.

Surviving are sisters, Peggy Odom of High Point, Buffy Ciavarelli of Altaloma, Calif., Doris Moore of Trinity, Lillian Johnson of Tacoma, Wash., Mary Myers of Midway.

The family will be at Cumby Funeral Home, High Point, Eastchester Drive, 1:30-2:30 p.m. Sunday, other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Odom, 2136-D Chester Ridge Drive, High Point.

GREENSBORO - Robert Tyson Toomes, 87, of 4741 Randleman Road, formerly of the Brian Center, Asheboro, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Friday at Grace Baptist Church. Burial will be in Centre Friends Meeting Cemetery.

He was a native of Guilford County, a farmer and a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran.

Surviving are sisters, Josie Choate of Greensboro, Margaret Latham of Pleasant Garden; brother, Samuel Toomes of the home.

The family will be at Forbis and Dick Funeral Home, North Elm Street, Greensboro, 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

Frederick J. Wellington
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Frederick J. Wellington, 87, died Monday, Jan. 18, 1999, in Gainesville, Fla.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Moss-Feaster Funeral Home, Dunedin, Fla.

He was a native of Corunna, Ontario, Canada, the widower of Bertha Lewis Wellington, had been employed with Exxon in Columbia, South America, retired from Panama Refinery Inc. in Panama as the executive vice president, attended the United Church of Canada and was a Rotarian.

Surviving are daughters, Ann Alexander, Jane Lawyer, both of Gainesville, Fla., Lynne Frauenheim of Charlotte; sons, Bob Wellington of Vancouver, British Columbia, Don Wellington of Asheboro, Rick Wellington of Timmons, Ontario; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Milam Funeral Home, Gainesville, Fla., is in charge of the arrangements.

Cleta N. Coble
Cleta Needham Coble of 3749 N.C. 42 South, Asheboro, died Friday, Jan. 22,1999, at Asheboro Health & Rehabilitation.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Union Grove United Church of Christ, where she was a member, with Dr. Dan Brown officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Coye Coble and retired from Bossong Hosiery Mill.

Surviving are daughter, Hilda Chloe Smith of Asheboro; son, Wayne Coble of Ramseur; sister, Carrie Brooks of Ramseur; brother, Carl Needham of Asheboro; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 6-9 p.m. Saturday.

Maxine Beane, 75, of 614 N. Elm St., Asheboro, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999, at Asheboro Health & Rehabilitation.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Rushwood Park Wesleyan Church, where she was a member, with Dr. Ron Hamilton and the Rev. Gene Schenck officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove United Christian Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County and the widow of Clifton H. Beane.

Surviving are daughters, Marilyn B. Allred, Elaine Garwood, both of Asheboro; son, Terry Beane of Arab, Ala.; sisters, Betty Hill, Anna Lewis Coble, both of Asheboro; brothers, Samuel Cagle, Odell Cagle, Everett Cagle, all of Asheboro; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Nellie Caveness Green, 83, of Sunrise Care & Rehabilitation of Asheboro, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, at the center.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Concord United Methodist Church, Coleridge, where she was a member, with Dr. Ronald Wachs officiating. Burial will be in Parks Cross Road Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County.

Surviving are daughters, Billie G. Rhyne of Boone, Nancy G. Brown of Atlanta, Ga.; brother, Troy Caveness of Ramseur; sister, Katherine York of Gastonia; three grandchildren.

Clarence L. Lefler
CLIMAX - Clarence L. "Bud" Lefler, 62, of 3091 Providence Church Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, at his home.

Funeral service was 11 a.m. Friday at Red Cross Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ken Goins and the Rev. Bud Rowe officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Surviving are wife, Daisy H. Lefler of the home; daughters, Deborah Chestnutt, Janet Lefler; son, Frank Lefler; sisters, Mildred Coleman of Florida, Leola Laster of Climax; six grandchildren.

Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, was in charge of the arrangements.

Sara H. Covington
Sara Helen Covington, 84, of 428 S. Cox St., Asheboro, died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home in Asheboro.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Michael Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

She attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and was retired as a corporate secretary after 30 years with B.B. Walker Co.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home Asheboro 7-9 p.m. Sunday.

Zeb W. Davis
Zeb Walser Davis, 88, of 1757 Gold Hill Road, Asheboro, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel in Asheboro with the Rev. John Mangum, Rev. Ernest Mangum and Rev. Dale Collingwood officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

He was a native of Davidson County, retired from Burlington Industries and Randolph Community College, a member and deacon at Central Falls Baptist Church, and the widower of Bettie D. Davis.

Surviving are son, Norris Davis of Jamestown and two grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sunday.

Lucille E. Clark
CANDOR - Lucille Leach Ewing Clark, 94, of 307 S. Main St., died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital in Troy.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Candor Presbyterian Church, where she was a charter member, with the Rev. Edsel Huffstetler officiating. Burial will be in Candor Cemetery.

She was a native of Baxterville, Miss., a graduate of Candor High School and attended Peace College and Queens College. She was a homemaker, a charter member of Nitro Presbyterian Church in Nitro, W.Va., a member of the Women of the Church and a charter member of the Round Dozen Book Club. She was the widow of MacDuffie Clark.

Surviving are son, MacDuffie Clark Jr. of Candor; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sunday and other times at the home.

CANDOR - Grace Jolly Ewing, 89, of 321 S. Main St., died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at her home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Candor Presbyterian Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Edsel Huffstetler officiating. Burial will be in Candor Cemetery.

She was a native of Pitt County, a retired elementary school teacher, a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Women of the Church, the Round Dozen Book Club and the Retired Teachers Association, and the widow of Daniel C. Ewing Jr.

Surviving are daughters, Cathy Ewing of Vero Beach, Fla., Carole Sanders of Washington, D.C., and Jolly Weil of Lake Forest, Ill.; brothers, Hubert Jolly of Ayden and Wilbur Jolly of Louisburg; and six grandchildren.

The family will be at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sunday and other times at the home.

DENTON - Buddy Harris Miller, 51, of 3208 Lark Drive, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999, at Wake Forest University Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel in Asheboro with Dr. Ron Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Mount Shepherd Baptist Church Cemetery.

Surviving are sons, Kenneth William Miller and Charles Harris Miller, both of Asheboro; daughter, Cassandra Lynn Miller of Asheboro; mother, Aileen Marks Miller of Trinity; sisters, Delores Hegameyer of Saluda, Va., Rebecca Browning of Jackson Creek, Sheryl Eads of High Point and Carolyn Thompson of Trinity; brother, John Miller of Randleman; and two grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Sunday.

Mildred C. Reitzel
LIBERTY - Mildred Campbell Reitzel, 73, of 5539 Liberty Grove Road, Lot 1, died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at her home.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Smithwood United Church of Christ Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, a member of Smithwood United Church of Christ, a homemaker, and the widow of R.D. Reitzel.

Surviving are sister, Mary Alice Redford of Anchorage, Alaska; and brother, Glenn D. Campbell Sr. of Burlington.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home in Liberty 7-9 p.m. Monday.

CHERRY GROVE - Virginia Zimmerman Smith, 77, of 3657 Wagon Wheel Road, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999, at N.C. Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Concord United Church of Christ, where she was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Caswell County, a graduate of Cobb Memorial High School, a homemaker and the widow of J.I. Smith Sr.

Surviving are sons, J.I. Smith Jr. of Cherry Grove and Thomas H. Smith of Asheboro; sisters, Marie Z. Roach of Reidsville and Rachel Z. Harris of Providence; brother, O.H. Zimmerman Jr. of Danville; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Hooper Funeral Home in Yanceyville is in charge of arrangements.

Estelle R. Spencer
SEAGROVE - Estelle Richardson Spencer, 79, of 2908 Little Brook Road, died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at Asheboro Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Community Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Walker officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County and of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are husband, William Grady Spencer of the home; stepdaughters, Estelle Williams, Eva Davis and Bonnie Kennedy, all of Seagrove; stepson, Tracy Spencer of Seagrove; sisters, Annie McNeill of Seagrove and Magdalene Cranford of Randleman; nine stepgrandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home in Robbins 7-9 p.m. Sunday.

Willie Thomas
JACKSON SPRINGS - Willie Needham Thomas, 90, of 484 Ivan Road, died Friday, Jan. 22, 1998, at Clapp's Nursing Home in Asheboro.

Funeral service will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Don Burns officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Montgomery County, a retired school teacher and the widow of Claude Thomas.

The family will be at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home 2-3 p.m. Sunday.

TRINITY - Dorothy Lucille Robbins Albertson, 92, of 4924 Meadowbrook Drive, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999, at her home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hopewell United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Ken Curtis and the Rev. Robert Witty officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County and the widow of Robert Glenn Albertson.

Surviving are daughters, Ann Hobson, Shirley Probert, both of Trinity, Frances White of Archdale, Georgia Kinney of Greensboro, Josephine Philbeck of Lakeland, Fla.; sons, Franklin Albertson, Donald Albertson, Willie Albertson, all of Trinity, Robert Albertson of Salisbury; sisters, Cleta Farmer, Euleta Harris, both of High Point; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Cumby Mortuary, Archdale, 7-8:30 p.m. Monday, other times at the home of Donald Albertson, 4864 Meadowbrook Drive, Trinity.

SILER CITY - Vincent Tyler Sorrell, seven week old son of Charlie and Angel Gibson Sorrell of 2167 Staley-Snow Camp Road, died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at Children's Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery near Bennett.

Surviving in addition to the parents are grandparents, John and Donna Gibson of Ramseur, Judy Avant of Winston-Salem, Johnnie and Linda Sorrell of Bennett; great-grandmothers, Esther Bledsoe of Siler City, Lila Daniels of Greensboro, Annie Mae Bullins of Summerfield.

The family will be at Joyce-Brady Funeral Home, Bennett, 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday.
