Benjamin Thomas Mullis
Mr. Benjamin ŇBenÓ Thomas Mullis, 68, of Cleo Drive, Hamptonville passed away Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005, at Hoots Memorial Hospital. He was born May 6, 1937, in Iredell County to the late Benjamin Kimbol and Lillie Mae Tulbert Mullis. Mr. Mullis was a hard worker in any job, from being a mechanic to farming, and enjoyed the time he spent with his family. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Cleo Hudson Mullis; a granddaughter, Vanessa Beck; two sisters, Mildred Mullis Caudle, Lois Mullis Medvetz; and two brothers, Edward Mullis, and an infant twin, Glenn Mullis.
Surviving are his children, Joyce Ann Caudill, Hamptonville, Lillie Gaye (Tim) Caudill, Jonesville, Benny Cullen (Luanne) Mullis, Lone Hickory, Missy (Jody) Doss, Yadkinville, Sandy Kay (David) Beck, Roaring River, Jason Thomas Mullis, Ronda; 16 Grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Mullis Couch, Yadkinville, Virginia Lee Mullis, Hamptonville; three brothers, Joe (Mary Lou) Mullis, Yadkinville, Roger (Marilyn) Mullis, Roaring River, Gray (Michelle) Mullis, Yadkinville; and his very special close friend, O.J.
His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Gentry Family Chapel by the Rev. Randy Johnson and the Rev. Clint Branch. Burial will follow in the Marler Road Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Gentry Family Funeral Service on Little Mountain Road in Jonesville. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Marler Road Baptist Church, Collins Road, Hamptonville, NC 27020.
The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to the Yadkin County EMS and Fire Department for all of their help to our daddy.

James Marcus Barker
Mr. James Marcus Barker, age 93, of Austin Traphill Road, passed away Friday January 13, 2006 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center.
Mr. Barker was born August 24, 1912 in Wilkes County to John and Mary McCann Barker. He was a member of Oak Level Baptist Church serving as a deacon and a member of the Choir. Marcus worked 20 plus years at Chatham Manufacturing. He then worked and retired after 20 plus years of service at General Motors in Flint, Mich. He was a member of UAW Local 659. He returned to NC where he enjoyed raising cattle and attending the local cattle markets. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Walter Buford Barker, a sister, Annie Byrd, and a brother, John Q. Barker.
Survivors include his wife of 75 years, Anne Holbrook Barker, of the home; a son, John Dennis Barker, of Roaring River; a daughter-in-law, Jean Weatherman Barker, of Roaring River; a sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Arlis Pettyjohn of Boonville; a sister-in-law, Nelda Barker Dezern and her husband, Raymond, of Roaring Rive;. six grandchildren and spouses, Dennie and Garry Carter, Eddie and Ginger Barker, all of Roaring River, Barry and Elizabeth Barker of Elkin, James and Pat Barker of Grand Haven, Mich., Keith Barker of Roaring River, Nancy and Gene Barker of Grand Haven, Mich.; 10 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 16, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Oak Level Baptist Church by Rev. James NC 28670 or to the GideonŐs or to the donorŐs choice.

Laura Marie Thompson
Mrs. Laura Marie Thompson McCann, age 85, of Haystack Road, Thurmond, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2006 at Willowbrook Healthcare. Mrs. McCann was born September 15, 1920 in Arlington, W.Va. to Elihu P. and Viola Cook Thompson.
Mrs. McCann was retired from Lucia and was a member of White Rock United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Avery McCann; a son, Onifer McCann; five brothers, three sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry McCann and wife Pat of State Road, Tommy McCann and wife Nellie of Mocksville; four sisters, Mable Wilmoth, Julia McCann, Betty Walker, Hettie Lambert; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren.
Funeral service were held Sunday, January 15, 2006 at 3 p.m. at White Rock United Methodist Church by Rev. James Reams and Rev. Jim Darnell. Burial followed at Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. McCann lay instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family received friends Saturday evening from 7-9 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to White Rock United Methodist Church Cemetery or to Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Sara Jane Nance
Mrs. Sara Jane Nance, age 71, of Cedar Brook Road, Jonesville, passed away Friday, January 13, 2006 at her residence. Mrs. Nance was born March 23, 1934 in Wilkes County to McKenley and Martha Harold Griffin.
Mrs. Nance was retired from JordanŐs Restaurant and attended Zion Baptist Church in Wilkesboro. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Thurmond Wagoner; a son, Mackie Monroe Wagoner, two brothers, Paul Griffin and Cecil Griffin; two sisters, Bessie Griffin and Sylvia Griffin.
Survivors include her husband, Dwight Jerry Nance of the home; two sons, Thurmond M. Wagoner and wife Judy of Ronda, Roger Nance and wife Susan of Jonesville; two daughters, Dianne W. Holbrook and husband Gale of Ronda, Betty Nance of Jonesville; a brother, Trealy Griffin and wife Judy of Wilkesboro; two sisters, Lessie Church and husband Rex, Ina Griffin all of Wilkesboro; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 15, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Phillip Moore. Burial followed at Little Elkin Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7-9 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.

Nancy Harris Bottoms
Mrs. Nancy Harris Bottoms, 56, of Oakland Blvd., Jonesville died unexpectedly in her home on Friday, Jan.13, 2006. She is the daughter of Louise Bowers Dudley and the late Arlie Lee Dudley, both of Jonesville. She was born in Surry County on May 18, 1949. She was a homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with her family as well as being a member of and singing with the Swing Masters Cowboy Band.
In addition to her mother she is survived by two sons, Jerry Harris and his wife, Angie, Mark Harris and his wife, Barbara; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Fredrick and James Dudley both of Jonesville.
Preceeding her in death was a daughter, Kimberly Diane Harris; her father Arlie Lee Dudley; three brothers, Leroy Dudley, Oedll Dudley all of Jonesville; and Lonnie Dudley of Statesville.
Her funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Gentry Family Chapel in Jonesville by Dr. Leon Mikles. Burial will follow in the Sunrise Cemetery of Jonesville. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Monday at Gentry Family funeral Service on Little Mountain Road in Jonesville.

Frances Fisher Howard
Mrs. Frances Fisher Howard, 71, of Johnson Ridge Road, Elkin passed away Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born Oct. 7, 1934, in Mecklenburg County to the late Guy and Ethel Wilkinson Fisher. Mrs. Howard was an avid gardener, as well as a loving, devoted mother and grandmother. She loved to visit her children, grandchildren, and the many extended family members. Mrs. Howard was a member of Jonesville United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the church choir, and was also a member of the Yadkin County Senior Chorus. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Bud Howard on Feb. 14, 2003; and by two brothers, J.G. Fisher and Paul Fisher.
Surviving are her son, David Howard, Farmington Hills, Mich.; a daughter and son-in-law, Betsy Howard Head and Doug Head, Farmington Hills, Mich.; a grandson, Shawn Head; two granddaughters, Denise Head and Heather Howard, all of Farmington Hills, Mich.; a sister, Pearl Lineberry, Lady Lake, Fla.; and several extended family members.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006, at Jonesville United Methodist Church by the Rev. Cynthia Arnold and the Rev. Bob Swaim. Burial will follow in Crestwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Jonesville United Methodist Church, Jonesville, NC 28642.

Kathleen Morrison Gentry
Mrs. Kathleen Morrison Gentry, 83, of Austin-Traphill Road, Elkin passed away Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Gentry was born Oct. 6, 1922, in Wilkes County to Tyre and Ida Gilliam Morrison.
Kathleen retired from Chatham Manufacturing in 1986 and after her retirement, she worked at Hampton Inn in Jonesville. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include: three sons, Rick Gentry and wife Deborah of Chicago, Ill., Allen Gentry and wife Pam of Winston-Salem, Mike Gentry of Elkin; one granddaughter, Stephanie Gentry.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Stewart Roten. Burial followed at Shoaly Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care 1326 N. Main Street, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.

Teresa Rose Almon Pruitt
Mrs. Teresa Rose Allmon Pruitt, age 51, of Mount Airy, wife of David Pruitt, passed away on Monday, June 12, 2006, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Pruitt was born in Rowan County on February 28, 1955, the daughter of the late James Allmon and Rella Burlson Allmon. She was a homemaker and a member of Genesis Full Gospel Church.
Surviving are her husband, David Pruitt of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Becky Mauldin of Salt Lake City, UT; stepson and spouse, Joshua and Katie Pruitt of Roanoke, Va.; five grandchildren; two sisters, Sue Gambrelle of Concord and Carolyn Bare of Mount Pleasant; three brothers and sister-in-law, Robert Allmon and Jimmy Allmon both of Albermarle and Danny and Rhonda Allmon of Mount Pleasant; a special sister-in-law Starr Poplin of Thurmond and a brother-in-law and spouse Kemuel and Melissa Pruitt of Horse Shoe.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 15, 2006, at Genesis Full Gospel Church conducted by Rev. Lonnie Gunter and Rev. Gene Edwards. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family received friends at the church on Wednesday from 7 until 9 p.m. where her body remained until the time of the service.
