Mildred R. Buhr
Hastings resident Mildred Ruth (Rosenau) Buhr, 79, of Good Samaritan Village Perkins Pavilion died Friday, June 30, 2000, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home chapel in Hastings with the Rev. Dale Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today, 1-9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. until services Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Buhr was born Jan. 8, 1921, to Elmer and Anna (Fricke) Rosenau in Hastings. She graduated from Hastings Senior High School in 1935. On Aug. 7, 1939, she married Alvin Buhr in Minden. She worked at Bert’s Pharmacy for 14 years and retired in the late 1980s. Her husband died in 1988.
She was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church, Women’s Circle and church choir.
Survivors are four sons, Donald of Glenvil, Harvey of Doniphan and Ronald and Daniel, both of Hastings; one daughter, Marlene Schnakenberg of Webber, Kan.; three brothers, Raymond and Arnold, both of Phoenix, and Dale of Garden City, Kan.; four sisters, Eleanor Mohrlang and Bonnie Theesen, both of Hastings, Evelyn Motley of Glenvil and Shirley Nelson of Inland; 20 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Charlene; one brother; and one grandchild.
Memorials may be given to the family’s choice.

Linda G. Brown
Sutton resident Linda G. (Hadfield) Brown, 52, died Friday, June 30, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Federated Church in Sutton with the Rev. Bill Jardine officiating. Burial will be in the Sutton Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 5-9 p.m. today at Kohler Mortuary in Sutton.
Mrs. Brown was born March 14, 1948, to C. Douglas and Phyllis (Whitaker) Hadfield in Genoa. She attended rural country school in Nance County and graduated from Fullerton High School in 1966. She attended Nebraska Wesleyan University and Bryan Memorial School of Nursing, both in Lincoln. She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing and became a registered nurse. She later became certified in clinical psychology management. On June 1, 1969, she married Alan Lee Brown in Fullerton. She worked at the Aurora Memorial Hospital in Aurora and the Sutton Community Home in Sutton. She was employed at the Hastings Regional Center at the time of her death.
She was a member of the Federated Church and was past president of Chapter BH P.E.O.
Survivors are her husband; two daughters, Holly Lincoln of Pawtucket, R.I., and Heather Osborn of Jacksonville, N.C.; one son, Seth of Lincoln; her parents of Fullerton; and three sisters, Lucy Adkins and Bonnie Hadfield, both of Lincoln, and Kathleen Timperley of Madison.
Memorials may be given to the family for a nursing scholarship fund in her name, P.O. Box 83, Sutton, NE 68979.

Ethel M. Larson
Former area resident Ethel M. Larson, 82, of Alhambra, Calif., died Thursday, May 11, 2000, in Alhambra.
Graveside services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings with the Rev. Randy Madison officiating. The remains were cremated. Turner and Stevens Mortuary in Alhambra is in charge of arrangements.
Miss Larson was born March 30, 1918, to Ernest W. and Nellie (Swanson) Larson in Keene. She graduated in 1935 from Minden High School and attended Kearney State College. She moved to Hastings around 1938 and graduated from business school in Hastings. She worked in the Adams County treasurer’s office in Hastings. She moved to California in the mid-1940s and lived in Rosemead and Alhambra. From 1945-83 she was a legal secretary for Shell Oil Co.
She was a member of the Keene Evangelical Free Church, First Methodist Church in Hastings and the Hollywood Presbyterian Church in California. She was active in the Christian Business and Professional Women’s Club and was a volunteer for the Red Cross.
She was preceded in death by one brother.

Elisabeth J. Bohnert
Superior resident Elisabeth Jean Bohnert, 14, died Friday, June 30, 2000, near Lovewell Lake in Jewell County, Kan.
Services were to be 2 p.m. today at Megrue-Price Funeral Home chapel in Superior with the Revs. Buford Schwarz and Thaddeus Hinkle officiating. Burial was to be in Evergreen Cemetery in Superior.
Elisabeth was born Nov. 3, 1985, to Steven K. and Debra Jean (Schwarz) Bohnert in Superior.
Survivors are her father of Mankato, Kan.; her mother and stepfather, Debra and Al Hornbussel of Superior; two brothers, Israel of Beloit, Kan., and Jonathan of Smith Center, Kan.; one sister, Rachel Bohnert of Superior; her grandparents, Keith Bohnert of Mankato and Buford and Alena Schwarz of Cheyenne, Okla.; and her great-grandmothers, Evelyn Swinton of Mankato and Ruby Clark of Wichita Falls, Texas.
She was preceded in death by two grandmothers.

Robert D. Conner
Hastings resident Robert D. Conner, 71, of 1009 E. Third St. died Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.
Services are 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Hastings with the Rev. Dr. Samuel Rathod and the Rev. Earl Higgins officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
Mr. Conner was born July 27, 1928, to Claude D. and Sylvia F. (Simmons) Conner in Fullerton. He graduated from Fullerton High School in 1945. On July 26, 1947, he married Marjorie Wilson in Fullerton. He worked for KN Energy for 40 years and retired in 1991.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Optimists, Hospital Auxiliary, Elks Golf Course and Elks Lodge No. 159. He also was a past member and past president of Blue Flame Gas Association.
Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Renee Hoglund of Hastings; three sons, Rick of Ayr, Randy of Hastings and Rod of Elizabeth, Colo.; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers; one sister; and one grandchild.
Memorials may be given to the Elks Building Fund or the donor's choice.

Erna Martens
Deshler resident Erna (Pohlmann) Martens, 85, died Monday, July 3, 2000, in Deshler.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler with the Rev. Bill Waterman officiating. Burial will be in the Deshler City Cemetery. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today at Ahrendts Funeral Home in Deshler and two hours prior to services Thursday at the church.
Mrs. Martens was born Sept. 28, 1914, to William and Anna Pohlmann in rural Deshler. She attended rural school District 80 and Peace Lutheran School. She graduated from Deshler High School. She attended Nebraska Teachers College in Kearney and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She earned a master's degree in education. She taught at Deshler District 57, Hubbell District 73, Byron District 91, Hebron Public School and Fairbury Public School. She was a principal in Scandia, Kan. She married Harold Martens.
She was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church, Nebraska State Education Association, Thayer County Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma, Alpha Zeta Chapter, the alumni associations of Nebraska Teachers College, University of Nebraska at Kearney and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Nebraska Historical Society, John Neihardt Foundation, Nebraskans for Public Television, Danish Brotherhood of America, GFWC Deshler Woman's Club, Town and County Porcelain Guild, American Legion Auxiliary, Sunny South Extension Club, Jefferson County Historical Society and the Fairbury Community Concert Association.
Survivors are her husband; one son, Brian of Fairbury; one brother, Elmer of Deshler; and one sister, Alice Schardt of Hebron.
Memorials may be given to the church.

Earl Tedford
Superior resident Earl Tedford, 84, died Sunday, July 2, 2000, in Superior.
Services were Tuesday at Megrue-Price Funeral Home chapel in Superior with the Rev. Richard Kelm officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Superior.
Mr. Tedford was born Jan. 14, 1916, to Delbert and Catherine (Moeller) Tedford in Leigh. He graduated from Leigh High School in 1933. From 1941-45 he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On May 29, 1948, he married Mary E. Estes in Tecumseh. They lived in Tecumseh, Beatrice, Hebron and Superior.
He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Hebron and the American Legion in Leigh. He received the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Service Unit Plaque, and the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal.
Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Mary Utecht of Superior; two sisters, Lil Robinson of Loveland, Colo., and Rose Hanel of Leigh; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Memorials may be given to the Faith Lutheran Church in Hebron.

Tennis L. Lindgren
Axtell resident Tennis Lavern Lindgren, 89, died Monday, July 3, 2000, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Bethany Lutheran Church south of Axtell with the Rev. Helmut Yurk officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today at Freeland-Layton Funeral Home in Axtell.
Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Roberta Lammers of Minden; one son; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Korbin B. Vavricek
Korbin Bryant Vavricek, infant son of Phil and Meredith (Figi) Vavricek of Schuyler, died Sunday, July 2, 2000, at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Services are private for the family with the Revs. William Whelan and Bill Jardine officiating. Family will receive friends at 3 p.m. Thursday at St. Augustine's Parish Hall in Schuyler. Svoboda Funeral Home of Schuyler is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are his parents; four grandparents, including Fred and Cheryl Figi of Sutton; and four great-grandparents, including H. Fern Figi of Sutton.

Mildred A. Farmer
Geneva resident Mildred A. (Miller) Farmer, 91, died Monday, July 3, 2000, in Geneva.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Geneva with the Rev. Wanda W. Bennett officiating. Burial will be in the Geneva Public Cemetery. Visitation began at 10 a.m. today at Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva.
Mrs. Farmer was born June 30, 1909, to Roy and Bessie (Brower) Miller in Grafton. She married Paul H. Farmer. He preceded her in death.
Survivors are one son, P.R. of Geneva; and three grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Memorials may be given to the Fillmore County Hospital Auxiliary or to the church.

Renee A. Rundle
Hastings resident Renee Ann (Arnold) Rundle, 41, of 727 N. Colorado Ave. died Saturday, July 1, 2000, at her home.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Hastings with the Rev. Christopher Kubat officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. There is no visitation. Butler-Volland Funeral Home of Hastings is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Rundle was born Sept. 2, 1958, to Charles and Margaret (Portrey) Arnold in Hastings. She attended St. Cecilia Catholic School until her sophomore year and graduated from Hastings Senior High School in 1976. On Oct. 16, 1976, she married Daniel Rundle. She was a dietary manager for 12 years at the Hastings Regional Center. In 1987 her husband died.
She was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church.
Survivors are one son, Brad of Hastings; one daughter, Liana Rundle of Las Vegas; her mother of Hastings; two sisters, Juanita Ehrich of Grand Junction, Colo., and Loretta Rabourn of Hastings; and two grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her father.
Memorials may be given to the family.

Emma G. Kort
Hastings resident Emma G. (Hibbeler) Kort, 93, of 1318 Saunders Ave. died Monday, July 3, 2000, at Good Samaritan Village Perkins Pavilion.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church in Hastings with the Rev. Richard A. Kothe officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Friday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
Mrs. Kort was born April 16, 1907, to Carl F. and Marie C. (Miller) Hibbeler in Hastings. On Feb. 3, 1926, she married Martin L. Kort in Blue Hill. They lived in Ayr from 1926-88 and then moved to Hastings. Her husband died in 1992.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and a past member of Ladies Aide at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Hill.
Survivors are two sons, Robert of Fremont and Lester of Omaha; three daughters, Gloria Kottwitz, Marlys Hemberger and Marcele Kort, all of Hastings; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by seven brothers; one sister; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the church or the donor's choice.

Mary G. Hill
Former area resident Mary Georgia (Anderson) Hill, 87, of Emmett, Idaho, died Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at Emmett Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Emmett.
Graveside services are 10 a.m. Monday at Maple Grove Cemetery in Bloomington with the Rev. Russell L. Malchow officiating. Visitation is 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Banta-Torrey Funeral Home in Alma.
Mrs. Hill was born July 31, 1912, to Alfred Carlos and Anna May (Olson) Anderson in Bloomington. She attended grade school in Bloomington and graduated in 1930 from high school in Bloomington. On Oct. 16, 1931, she married Ted S. Hill in Smith Center, Kan. They farmed in the Bloomington area until 1956 when they moved to Arizona for a short time. They then moved to Emmett. She owned and managed an apartment complex in Emmett for 20 years. In 1965 her husband died. She worked as a cook at a nursing home in Emmett, and cared for several elderly residents. She moved to the Senior Housing Project in Emmett where she has lived for the past 15 years. She moved to Emmett Rehabilitation and Healthcare June 20.
Survivors are two daughters, Geraldine Dodson of Loomis and Dorothy Dodson of Emmett; two sons, Howard of Emmett and Kenneth of Williamsburg, Va.; one sister, Elsie Waring of Franklin; one brother, George of Charleston, Ark.; 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Ann; two sisters; one half sister; one brother; one half brother; and one grandchild.

Adeline Wengler
Adeline Wengler, infant daughter of Shawn and Roseann (Beaty) Wengler of Superior, died Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.
Graveside services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Riverton Cemetery with the Rev. Patsy Busey officiating. Williams Funeral Home of Superior is in charge of arrangements.
Adeline was born May 13, 2000, at Harris Hospital Southwest in Fort Worth.
Survivors are her parents; and grandparents, Paul and Audrey Beaty of Superior and Jonnie Vancil of Portland, Ore.
In lieu of flowers, teddy bears may be given to the family. The bears later will be donated to children's charities.

David C. Freasier
David Charles Freasier, infant son of Lee Ann and David Freasier of Hastings, was stillborn Saturday, July 1, 2000, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.
Private graveside services are at Eaton Cemetery in Heartwell. Butler-Volland Funeral Home of Hastings is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are his parents; three grandparents, Anita Pettit of Hastings, Annitta Gayle Freasier of Brady, Texas, and John B. Freasier of San Saba, Texas; and one great-grandmother, Frankie Freasier of San Antonio.
He was preceded in death by one grandfather.
Memorials may be given to the family.
