Helen A. Holland
Former Hastings resident Helen Anne (Turner) Holland, 80, of Norman, Okla., died Monday, Oct. 16, 1995, at Norman Regional Hospital.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church in Norman with the Rev. Dr. Glenn Doak Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Warren Cemetery. Mayes Funeral Directors of Norman are in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Holland was born May 7, 1915, to Harry DeVaughn and Helen Anne (Ingalls) Turner in Cairo. She grew up in Cairo where she attended school. She graduated from Hastings College in 1936 with a bachelor's degree. She taught school at Elm Creek. While living in Hastings she learned to fly. She worked at Hastings College as a counselor. She later worked as a reporter at the Hastings Tribune. She was a ferry pilot in World War II. She also was a Red Cross volunteer in the Atlantic and Pacific Theatres. After the war she moved to Norman.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Norman and served as a deacon. She volunteered with the Big Sister program and Meals on Wheels and sponsored an international foster child. She co-founded Juvenile Services Inc. and the Helpline Service, now run by United Way of Norman. She was awarded an honorary doctor of humane letters from Hastings College in 1970. She served on many boards.
Survivors are her husband, John; one son, Martin T. of Norman; two daughters, Catherine Holland Petersen of Norman and Bets Holland Lundeen of Loveland, Colo.; one brother, Harry Turner of Grand Island; one stepsister, Permelia McIver of Arvada, Colo.; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Martha and one grandchild.
Memorials may be given to The Juvenile Service Inc., 1 West Gray, Norman, OK 73069 or Hastings College.

Cecil J. Johnson
Minden resident Cecil J. Johnson, 79, died Monday, Oct. 16, 1995, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Minden with the Rev. Dr. Terry Palmer officiating. Burial will be in Minden Cemetery. Visitation is 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today at Layton Funeral Home in Minden.
Mr. Johnson was born Aug. 13, 1916, to Jens and Lillie (Nielsen) Johnson in Kearney County. He attended Zyba Country School. On Dec. 15, 1939, he married Doris Smith. They farmed southeast of Minden in the Osco area. In 1974, he retired and moved into Minden. He became a crop-hail adjuster and ran the Johnson Insurance Agency until 1986.
He was a member of Westminster United Presbyterian Church.
Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Betty Royse of Holdrege; one son, Kenneth of Kearney; two foster children, Linda Dahlheim of Minden and Terry Johnson of Omaha; two sisters, Evelyn Sorensen of Minden and Lori Allard of Holdrege; one brother, Eugene of Hastings; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Mildred A. Baumann
Grafton resident Mildred A. Baumann, 80, died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 1995, at Henderson Community Hospital in Henderson.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grafton. Burial will be in Grafton Cemetery. Kohler Mortuary of Sutton is in charge of arrangements.
Miss Baumann was born May 6, 1915, to Jacob and Anna (Everts) Baumann near Grafton. She graduated from Grafton High School. She attended a beauty school and then opened a beauty shop in Geneva. She later worked at Baumann Grocery in Grafton.
She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and Lutheran Ladies' Society.
She was preceded in death by two brothers.

Pearl M. Guthrie
Hastings resident Pearl M. (Krabel) Guthrie, 98, of 1139 W. Third St. died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 1995, at Good Samaritan Village Perkins Pavilion.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Joe Scahill officiating. Burial will be in Juniata Cemetery at Juniata.
Mrs. Guthrie was born Sept. 3, 1897, to John F. and Mary (Johnson) Krabel in Trumbull. She attended business college and began working for Stewart and Smith Plumbing. After raising her family, she was a housekeeper at Clarke Hotel for 22 years and then a dietitian-cook at Hastings Regional Center until retiring in 1969.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors are two daughters, Deloris Gunderson of Hastings and Joyce Hueske of Larkspur, Colo.; one son, Wayne of Hastings; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Memorials may be given to Good Samaritan Village Perkins Pavilion, Wing 400.

Edna M. Gettmann
Hastings resident Edna Marie (Herbst) Gettmann, 84, of 830 N. Pine Ave. died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 1995, at Haven Home in Kenesaw.
Services are 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Joe Scahill officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cem-etery. Visitation is 5-9 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, 1-9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gettmann was born Oct. 21, 1910, to Paul and Katherine (Bauer) Herbst in Hastings. She grew up in Hastings and graduated from Hastings Senior High School in 1928. After graduation she worked as a sales lady and floor manager at Montgomery Wards for many years. On July 16, 1932, she married William F. Gettmann.
She was a former member of New York Avenue Congregational Church where she was a Sunday school teacher, choir member and a member of Young Peoples League. She transferred to First United Methodist Church in 1940.
Survivors are her husband; and one brother, Walter P. Herbst of Yuma, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
Memorials may be given to the family.

Richard C. Danielson
Former Upland resident Richard C. Danielson, 89, of Kearney died Monday, Oct. 16, 1995, at his home.

Norma E. Endorf
Former Franklin County resident Norma E. (Mason) Endorf, 78, of Grand Island died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 1995, at Lakeview Nursing Center in Grand Island.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church in Grand Island with the Rev. Herbert Schutte officiating. Graveside services are 2:30 p.m. at Upland Cemetery at Upland. There will be no visitation. Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home of Grand Island is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Endorf was born Dec. 23, 1916, to Fred and Minnie (Steinke) Mason in Upland. She graduated from Upland High School in 1934. On Oct. 31, 1936, she married Reuben G. Endorf in St. Paul. They lived in Campbell where they owned and operated Endorf General Store until 1962 when they moved to Grand Island. Her husband died Feb. 7, 1978.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Survivors are three daughters, Mary Lou Jordan of Lincoln, Brenda Johnson of Stromsburg and Judith Endorf of Grand Island; one son, Stuart of Grand Island; one sister, Lucille Choquette of Campbell; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by two sons, Paul and an infant.

Frances V. Kent
Services for former Hastings resident Frances V. Kent, 80, of Lincoln, who died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 1995, at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln are 10 a.m. Monday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home chapel in Hastings with the Rev. Ted Uhlig officiating.

Victor Stromer
Former Glenvil resident Victor Stromer, 78, of Valley County Nursing Home in Ord died Friday, Sept. 29, 1995, at Valley County Hospital in Ord.

Mabel E. Spady
Hastings resident Mabel E. (Denton) Spady, 82, of 745 N. Bellevue Ave. died Saturday, Sept. 30, 1995, at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Brand-Wilson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Duane Nyce officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery. Visitation is noon to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Spady was born Feb. 8, 1913, to Silas and Lorella (Drum) Denton in Herrick, S.D. She graduated from Edgar High School. On June 3, 1933, she married Fred Spady. She owned Hobby Haven ceramic shop in her home. She taught ceramics there for several years.
She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church and its Women's Association.
Survivors are her husband; two daughters, Marlene Skein of Littleton, Colo., and Pam Castleberry of Lake Head, Calif.; five sons, Jerry, Victor and Paul, all of Hastings, Robert of North Platte and Fredrick of Beatrice; one sister, Hazel Hefnider of Hastings; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to Second Presbyterian Church.

Nick P. Theoharis
Hastings resident Nick P. Theoharis, 55, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 1995, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital after a long bout with cancer.
Memorial services and prayer are 7:30 p.m. Thursday at D.W. Newcomers Funeral Home in Overland Park, Kan., with the Rev. Theoharis Theoharis officiating. Visitation is 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Theoharis was born Oct. 9, 1939, to Peter and Zoe (Nicolopoulos) Theoharis in Kansas City, Mo. He attended school in Kansas City, graduating from Westport High School. He joined the U.S. Marines in 1958. On Feb. 22, 1969, he married Connie Kallos. He was the owner of a lounge and restaurant in Kansas City and manager of Ponderosa Bowl in Hastings.
He was a member of Greek Orthodox Church in Kansas City, Kan., where he was past president, and the Elks Lodge in Hastings. He was a past member of AHEPA, a Greek organization. He was a Little League baseball coach and a board member of the American Junior Legion Baseball program in Hastings.
Survivors are his wife; and two sons, Pete of Kansas City, Mo., and Nicky of Hastings.
Memorials may be given to the family.

Wilfred P. Trausch
Roseland resident Wilfred P. Trausch, 84, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 1995, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.
Rosary is 7:30 p.m. today and services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, both at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Roseland with the Rev. Thomas Au officiating. Burial will be in Roseland Cemetery. Brand-Wilson Funeral Home of Hastings is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Trausch was born Feb. 17, 1911, to John and Susan (Berres) Trausch near Holstein. On Nov. 27, 1945, he married Celestine Hoffman. He farmed in the Roseland area until retiring.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Crosier Lay Apostolate.
Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Barbara Brennan of Lincoln; two sons, Thomas and Philip, both of Roseland; three sisters, Irene Matyka of Medford, Wis., Margaret Kresha of Bakersfield, Calif., and Theresa Seiker of Elmwood; five brothers, Maurice, Ralph, Louis and Francis, all of Roseland, and Gerald of Spring Hill, Kan.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet; and four brothers.
A memorial will be established.

Glendoris 'Glenie' Ocker
Hastings resident Glendoris "Glenie" (Sommerfeld) Ocker, 72, of 713 Circle B died Sunday, Oct. 1, 1995, at Good Samaritan Village Villa Grace.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brand-Wilson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Tim Wiggins officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today and 8 a.m. until services Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Ocker was born Oct. 8, 1922, in Nebraska. She was adopted by John H. and Minna (Kottwitz) Sommerfeld as an infant. She grew up in Pratt, Kan., and Blue Hill. On Jan. 23, 1965, she married Alfred A. Ocker. They lived in Glenvil. They moved to Hastings this past summer. She worked in several cafes in Glenvil and Hastings.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Glenvil. She also was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary No. 592 where she was president in 1983 and 1984 and a member of the Decoration Committee Eagles.
Survivors are her husband; one son, Larry V. McClure; one grandchild; and one stepgreat-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
Memorials may be given to American Cancer Society or Nebraska Boys Ranch.

Mary M. 'Marty' Parish
Former Red Cloud resident Mary Martha "Marty" (Summers) Parish, 58, of Alma died Sunday, Oct. 1, 1995, at Harlan County Hospital in Alma.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Banta-Torrey Funeral Home chapel in Alma with the Rev. Lyn Seiser officiating. The remains were cremated. Burial will be in Alma Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
Mrs. Parish was born Dec. 24, 1936, to Harold and Ivy Ernestine (Wallace) Summers in Xenia, Ohio. She attended school in Xenia. She moved to Savanna, Ga., at the age of 16 and graduated from high school in 1954. On Dec. 21, 1955, she married Howard Dean Parish in Ridgeland, S.C. They lived in Jamestown, Ohio. In 1957 they moved to Nebraska. They lived in Alma, Red Cloud, Oberlin, Kan., Natoma, Kan., and Great Bend, Kan., before returning to Alma in 1985. Her husband was a cattle buyer and helped his father in the auction business.
She grew up attending the Baptist Church. She attended the United Methodist Church in Alma. She was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors are her husband; five daughters, Cheryl Mulch and Jennifer Kober, both of Colorado Springs, Colo., Pat Elsen of Estes Park, Colo., Becky Keil of Tucson, Ariz., and Julie Burke of Sun Prairie, Wis.; three sisters, Virginia Little of Dayton, Ohio, Lois Ann Steiner of Jamestown, Ohio, and Sharon Ann Perkins of Ellicott City, Md.; 10 grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; and one stepgreat-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
A memorial fund has been established.

Hastings resident Lloyd J. Poen, 78, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 1995, at Good Samaritan Village Perkins Pavilion.
Butler-Volland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Brinkley
Hastings resident Mary Brinkley, 92, died Friday, Oct. 20, 1995, at Good Samaritan Village Perkins Pavilion.
Graveside services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Parkview Cemetery with the Rev. Harold D. Stromer officiating. There will be no visitation. Butler-Volland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Miss Brinkley was born July 14, 1903, to Lincoln and Silvia (Dunn) Brinkley in Hastings. She graduated from Hastings Senior High School. She was a clerk for Dutton-Lainson Company for 49 years, retiring in 1969.
She was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church and Pythian Sisters Queen City Temple, of which she was a past officer.
She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Ormond L. Norgaard
Superior resident Ormond L. Norgaard, 77, died Friday, Oct. 20, 1995, at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Megrue-Price Funeral Home chapel in Superior with the Rev. L. Patterson Culligan officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery north of Superior. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Norgaard was born June 26, 1918, to James Christian and Violet Ann (Rasmussen) Norgaard in Green Bay, Wis. He graduated from Superior High School and attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and Doane College. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On Aug. 22, 1944, he married Evelyn Elizabeth Menagh at Austin Methodist Church in Chicago. He was manager and president of First Federal Savings and Loan and associated with Farmers Union Co-op Creamery, both in Superior.
He was a member of United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge No. 121, Elks Lodge No. 2197, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 63, of which he was past patron, American Legion St. Mihiel Post No. 103, Superior Board of Education, of which he was past president, and Kiwanis, of which he was past president, all in Superior. He also was chairman of the Superior Airport Authority.
Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Terryl Norgaard of Superior and Cheryl Rose of Rawlings, Wyo.; and three grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to the family at 745 N. Kansas, Superior, NE 68978.

Jacob 'Jake' Vollweiler
Hastings resident Jacob "Jake" Vollweiler, 83, of 1739 W. Third St. died Friday, Oct. 20, 1995, at Good Samaritan Village Perkins Pavilion.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Jim Miller officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery. The remains were cremated. There will be no visitation.
Mr. Vollweiler was born April 10, 1912, to Louis J. and Madeline L. (Sittner) Vollweiler in Denver. He moved with his family to Hastings at the age of 4. He attended Hastings Public Schools. On April 27, 1947, he married Marietta R. Kister. He was a truck driver for Hastings Transfer, which later became Consolidated Motor Freight. He retired in 1974.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He was a former member of Southern Hills Golf Course and Eagles Lodge, both of Hastings.
Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Linda Vollweiler of Alliance; one brother, Sonny of Hastings; and two sisters, Lucille Stephenson and Jeanette Vollweiler, both of Lincoln.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Memorials may be given to Grace United Methodist Church or GSV Perkins Pavilion Wing 400.

Glen R. Huber
Sutton resident Glen R. Huber, 31, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 1995, in an automobile accident north of Sutton.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Emmanuel Reformed Church in Sutton with the Rev. Dr. Warren Embree officiating. Burial will be in Sutton Cemetery. Kohler Mortuary of Sutton is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Huber was born April 23, 1964, to Marlin and Margaret (Hofmann) Huber in Lincoln. He graduated from Sutton High School in 1982. He was a 1987 graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in agronomy. He was married Sept. 23, 1990, to Pamela J. Turner in Emmanuel Reformed Church. He was an agronomist at Farmland, based out of the Aurora Co-op in Aurora.
He was a member of Emmanuel Reformed Church and Sutton Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors are his wife and son, Benjamin.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be given to the family.
