Latare - Anita L., 74, Columbus, died Sunday (5/12/2002). Born, Lost Nation, Iowa. Was a secretary, worked at Gibsons, Alco and was an Avon representative.
Survivors: husband, Donald; daughters, Sally Keating, Columbus, Wendy Schroeder, Staplehurst; sister, Lois Brockmeyer, Lowden, Iowa; brother, Jerold Jensen, Lowden; three grandchildren.
Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Trinity Lutheran Church, Columbus. Roselawn Memorial Cemetery, Columbus. Visitation: 4-8 p.m. today, McKown Funeral Home, Columbus; one hour before services, church.

Martin - Milton H., 79, Falls City, widower of Mary A., died Sunday (5/12/2002). Born, Barada. Retired postmaster, Falls City Post Office. Served, U.S. Navy.
Survivors: daughters, Marjorie Stokes, Falls City, Margaret Becker, New Auburn, Minn.; special friend, Colleen Ivey, Falls City; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Miller - Tammy R. (Riddle), 40, Wichita, Kan., died Thursday (5/9/2002).

Parks - Eugene A., 78, York, formerly Ashland, died Saturday (5/11/2002) in Kearney.

Penner - Gloria Mae, 66, Bradenton, Fla., died Friday (5/10/2002). Former longtime Lincoln resident who was very active at Blessed Sacrament Catholic School. Master wood carver and gourmet chocolate candy maker.
Survivors: husband, Don; son, daughter-in-law, Mark and Ruth, Cottage Grove, Wis.; daughter, son-in-law, Lisa and Greg Dang, Anaheim, Calif.; grandchildren, Kien Dang and Olivia Anne Penner; sister, Maxine Sturzenegger, Lincoln; sister, brother-in-law, Roxanne and Jack Durst, Lincoln; nieces; nephews. Preceded in death by brother, Franklin McConnell.

Peters - Paul J., 73, David City, died Sunday (5/12/2002). Born, Bellwood (7/11/1928), to Clarence and Margaret (Meysenburg) Peters. Worked for R.E.A 36 years, retiring as line superintendent in 1990. Graduated, Marietta High School, 1946. First sergeant in Army, 1950-1952, in Korea. Married, Shirley Ackles (10/30/1954), Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Burwell. Member, St. Mary's Catholic Church; fourth degree Knights of Columbus; American Legion; V.F.W. Also served: St. Mary's parish council; Aquinas council of administration; David City Zoning Board. Installed with first group of acolytes, 1975, and continued until present. Active in many areas of the church.
Survivors: wife, Shirley; sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, Bob and Alynn, Bradley, Adam, Kyle, and Kendra, Gering, Michael and Lisa, Ashley, Ryan, Tyler, Creston, Iowa; daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren, Jean and Norman Khan, Matthew and Isaac, all Lincoln, Ann and Ron Miller, Bryan, Drew, Alec, Libertie, Andrea, Lincoln, Mary Kay and Paul Farrer, Michaela, Austin, and Lauren, Fort Collins, Colo; brother, sister-in-law, Don and Thelma, Bellwood; sisters, brothers-in-law, Delores and Tom McCawley, Omaha, Phyllis and Bill Douglas, Casper, Wyo., Mary Margaret and Gordon Zellers, Nebraska City, Rita and Sal Lopez, Denver; nieces, nephews. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Honora; son, John Paul.
Mass of Christian burial, 10 a.m. Wednesday, St. Mary's Church, David City. Church cemetery. Wake service 7:30 p.m. today, church, followed by Knights of Columbus rosary. Visitation: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. today, Knott Funeral Home, David City. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial Masses, donations to St. Mary's Church endowment fund, Aquinas/St. Mary's School endowment fund, Catholic Social Services or charity of choice.

Ordained as minister to the Christian Church (D.O.C.), serving as an associate and executive Minister. Former employee, Adams State Bank, First State Bank of Hickman. Retired as president, 1987. Member, American Legion Post 105, Hickman; V.F.W Post 10042, Adams; East Lincoln Christian Church. Community involvement: Kiwanis, Chamber of Commerce, Scouting, board of directors at First State Bank, Hickman. Basketball referee, scorekeeper.
Survivors: wife, Mildred V.; stepdaughter, Phyllis Ann Uglow, Hickman; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Maxine, Lakewood, Colo., Amazine, Sterling; brother, Merlin, Adams; daughters-in-law, Maxine White, Terri White, both of Crete. Preceded in death by parents; stepson, Clinton A. White; grandson, Stephen White; three brothers; two sisters.
