Ramaekers - Edward "Bud" and Alice, Norfolk, died Friday (1/25/2002) in a traffic accident west of Albuquerque, N.M., with their friends, Larry and Rita Beller of Lindsay. The couples were vacationing together.
Bud was born 9/28/40 in Humphrey to Edward F. Sr. and Cecelia (Ternus) Ramaekers. Raised on family farm and attended school in Humphrey. Graduated, Milford Technical School as welder. Moved to Omaha where he was employed at Snowco, Gate City Steel, and started his own lawn service. Married, Ann Marie VoorVart, 3/20/60 in Omaha. The couple had three children. Ann Marie passed away 2/23/70, following an illness. Married, Alice Knust Pfeifer, 8/21/70. The couple made their home in San Juan Capistrano, Calif., where Bud was employed as a welder. The family moved to Norfolk in 1974, when he and Alice purchased Rude's Welding Shop and established B&A Welding & Blacksmith, which later became known as B&A Welding. Bud and Alice retired in 1999 and sold the business to their son Mike and his wife, Sue. Member, Sacred Heart Parish, served on parish council and was an extraordinary minister of the eucharist. Fourth-degree Knight of Columbus and was instrumental in bringing Marriage Encounter to the parish and Norfolk. Involved in Christians Encounter Christ. Former president, Nebraska Blacksmith, Machinist and Welders Association.
Alice Marie was born 8/25/41 in Humphrey to Michael and Josephine (Roman) Knust. Raised in Petersburg. Graduated, John the Baptist Catholic High School, 1959, and Lincoln School of Commerce. Worked for Federal Reserve Bank, Omaha. Married, Francis John Pfeifer, 9/3/60; the family lived in Omaha and had five children. They moved to San Juan Capistrano, 1970; Frank died in a work-related accident shortly after their move. She married Edward "Bud" Ramaekers and the two families became one. Alice stayed busy with keeping the books for the business and raising their family. Member, Sacred Heart Parish, active on parish council, extraordinary minister of the eucharist. Member, Catholic Daughters and former president, Sacred Heart Altar Society. Also involved with Christians Encounter Christ, Birth Right, PEO, Christian Women's Club, in which she was a Bible study leader, and Sacred Heart Charismatic group. Participated in several bridge groups and was a Mary Kay representative.
Survivors: children, spouses, Terry and Julie Pfeifer, Grand Island, Mike and Sue Ramaekers, Norfolk, Doug and Lisa Pfeifer, Lincoln, Mark and Maryrose Ramaekers, Omaha, Brenda and Rich Krumel, Des Moines, Iowa, Jeanne and Chris Guta, Frisco, Texas, Kevin and Heidi, Atlanta, Crissy and Brian Wood, Minneapolis, Tim Ramaekers, Columbus, and his fiancee, Michelle Becker. Bud and Alice enjoyed their 28 grandchildren.
Bud's other Survivors: mother, Cecelia Ramaekers, Genoa; brothers, Pat, Omaha, Dan, White Bear Lake, Minn.; sisters, Rosalia Engstrom, Omaha, Marilyn Mohr, Genoa, Cindy Flaherty, O'Neill. Alice's other Survivors: brothers, Art Knust, Mark Knust, both Elgin, Joe Knust, John Knust, both Petersburg; sisters, Mary Ellen Frauendorfer, Lindsay, Lucille Kalinowski, Columbus, Lorraine Seier, Petersburg, Doris Schrad, Elkhart, Ind., Janet Klein, Spalding. Bud is preceded in death by father; two brothers; one son. Alice is preceded by parents; three brothers; two sons.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Norfolk. The Rev. Dave Belt, celebrant, and the Rev. Tom Fangman, homilist, with the priests of archdiocese of Omaha concelebrating. Prospect Hill Cemetery. Visitation: 3-6 p.m. today, Home for Funerals, Norfolk, and 7-8 p.m., church, with wake service at 7:30 p.m.

Reisher - William N., 69, Lincoln, died Sunday (1/27/2002). Born, Hayes County, to Noah and Lora (Simmerman). Army veteran, Korean War. Married Anne (Brooks), 1957. Graduate, UNL Business College, 1958; master's of accounting, UNL, 1964. Retired supervisor of accounting, Lincoln Public Schools, 1966-1994.
