Kelley - Barbara L., 71, Lincoln, died Saturday (2/23/2002) following a brief illness. Born, Ironton, Mo., (9/15/30) to Raymond S. and Birdie Mae (Henderson) Brown. Barbara was a graduate of York High School and graduated from Culinary School. She was married to Jewell R. Kelley Jr. at York on June 1, 1958. Barbara was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church of Lincoln. She worked as a cook at the Pi Beta Phi house at UNL, and then was the Chief Dietician at Lancastor Manor for over 20 years. Later she was the dietician at the Malone Center Day Care and served as a board member and Community Outreach Coordinator for the Malone Center. She was also a member of the Lincoln Police Advisory Panel and had been active in the National Council of Negro Women, Lincoln Chapter.
Survivors: daughters, Janice Elaine and Prim Battle, Lincoln, Stephanie Bair, Denver;son, Charles and Donna Baker, Lincoln; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Preceded in death by husband, 1991; parents; stepfather, Lee Green; son, Sherdal Lewis; brother, Arvid Brown.
