Brownlee - Olive Gettman, 71, College Park, Fla., died Sunday (3/11/2001) of cancer. Born, Lincoln, 1929. Moved to central Florida, 1963. Homemaker, wonderful mother, grandmother. Member, First Presbyterian Church of Orlando. Attended University of Nebraska; was avid Cornhusker fan, but also came to love Seminoles of Florida State University. Affectionately known as "Mammy," sought quality time with children, attending their soccer and baseball games, tennis matches or school plays; in appreciation, children brought her butterflies, dogs, birds, snakes and iguanas. Loved to play cards, work in yard, visit beach and shop garage sales. Accomplished musician: played piano and autoharp and also sang with voice fit for angels. Active member, First Presbyterian Church of Orlando. Tennis champion, Country Club of Orlando. Co-founder, Brownlee Energy Management Co. Self-taught in accounting; so proficient, ledgers balanced to the penny. Volunteered, churches, scouting, PTA and several historical committees. Due to sacrificial nature, her memorial marker will read, "Mammy sacrificed so others may enjoy."
