Russell Holloway, 91, of Aurora, died Saturday night, Dec. 8 at Memorial Community Care in Aurora. Services were Tuesday morning, Dec. 11 at the United Methodist Church in Aurora with Dr. Joe Scahill officiating. Burial was in the Aurora Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Emma Darlene of Aurora; one daughter, Louise Basore of Hutchinson, Kan.; a stepson, Jerry (Ruth) Wertz of Lincoln; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one brother, Roy Holloway of Aurora; two sisters, Mae Sawyer of Grand Island and Eunice Barber of Carpinteria, Calif.

Melvin Sims
Melvin Sims, 95, of Aurora (formerly of Giltner) died Sunday evening, Dec. 9, 2001 at Hamilton Manor in Aurora. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13 at the United Methodist Church in Giltner. Pastor Nora Leeds will officiate. Burial will be in the Giltner Cemetery. Survivors include his three children, Richard Sims of Grand Island, Rosemarie Consbruck of Juniata and Carol LaBrie and her husband, Jody, of Doniphan; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Sims Grimminger of Chapman; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Cecil Sims of Aurora.

Robert Main, 71, of Aurora, died Saturday morning, Dec. 8, 2001 at Memorial Hospital in Aurora. Memorial services were Tuesday morning in the chapel of Higby Mortuary in Aurora. Rev. Survivors include his wife, Lexia of Aurora; his sons and daughters, Shawn Main of Aurora, Paula Kadel of Henderson, Iowa; Mark Main of Atlantic, Iowa; Bruce Main of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Jill Main of LouAnn, Ark.; Linda Hayes of San Antonio, Tex.; Marsha Byrd of Smac Over, Ark.; Kailin Main of Phillips; Debbie Fulton of Oakland, Iowa; Cheryl Jordan of San Antonio, Tex.; Robert L. Fern Unruh, 80, died Nov. 21, 2001 in the Hospice of Metro Denver in Aurora, Colo. Survivors include her husband, Virgil; a son, David Schroeder; grandchildren, Carrie and Kati; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Ethan; sisters, Marie Peters, Alma Heiser, Estaline Quiring and Doris Braun; and brothers, John T. His body was cremated. Jerry Joe Osler, 45, of Giltner, died Monday, March 18, 2002, at Bryan LGH-West in Lincoln. Funeral services were Friday, March 22, 2002 at 2:30 p.m. at Wagner Funeral Home in Central City with the Reverend Willis Pauls officiating. Burial was in the Giltner Cemetery. Survivors include his parents Marjorie (Osler-Mau) Johnson of Juniata and Rodney Osler of Hastings; his wife, Jo of Giltner; two sons, Dustin and Dennis Glasier at home; two daughters, Kara Weigel of Wauneta and Leah Glasier, at home; a sister, Jacky (Dan) Bertz of Fresno, Calif.; a brother, Jim (Carla) Osler of Hastings; a grandson, Tommy Weigel, and many nieces and nephews.

Merle A. Erickson, 91, of Clear Lake, Iowa, died Sunday, March 17, 2002 at Manly Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Manly, Iowa. Funeral services were Wednesday morning, March 20, at the First Baptist Church in Hastings. Burial was in the Hordville Cemetery Wednesday afternoon. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Phyllis Erickson of Hastings; a daughter and son-in-law, Twila and David Okerlund of Clear Lake, Iowa; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Earl "Grandpa" Daniel, age 72, of Grand Island, died Wednesday night, Oct. 2, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday at the Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Rev. Seth Leypoldt officiated. Rigmor MacDougal
Rigmor A. MacDougal, 91, died Aug. 17, 2002 in Colorado Springs, Colo. Burial will be Wednesday, Oct. 9 in the Aurora Cemetery. Mrs. MacDougal lived in Kronborg the first few years of her life. She and her husband, Paul, lived in Aurora the first few years of their marriage where he worked as a pharmacist with Lee Steele. They moved to McCool Junction and various other places in the Midwest and east before retiring to Santa Barbara, Calif. Survivors include two daughters, Kristine and Patricia; one son, Thomas; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
