Blanche Louise Foster, 93, of Ericson died Sun., Jan. 25, 2004 at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Thurs., Jan. 29 at the United Methodist Church in Ericson. Burial was in the Pibel Cemetery near Ericson. Hitchcock Funeral Home of Burwell was in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the Ericson First Responders. Mrs. Foster was born Oct. 7, 1910 in Oklahoma to Jacob and Maude (Thompson) Kasselder. On Sept. 5, 1929 she married Lewis "Mike" Foster in Ericson. The couple lived in Hershey for awhile before moving to Greeley County where they farmed. They moved to Ericson in the 1950s where they owned Foster's Market. Her husband died Jan. 26, 1995. She continued to run the store with her son, Darrell until she retired and closed the market.

Clara Julia Ingebritson, 86, of Iowa Falls, IA died Sat., May 29, 2004 at Scenic Manor in Iowa Falls, IA. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tues., June 2 at St. Mark Catholic Church in Iowa Falls. Burial was in St. Mark Cemetery. Linn's Funeral Home of Iowa Falls, IA was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Ingebritson was born May 17, 1918 in Valley County to Peter and Victoria (Gregoroski) Duda. She attended rural Valley County schools until the eighth grade. She had been employed at an airplane factory in Wyoming during World War II, where she met her future husband. On May 19, 1945 she married Leland Ingebritson.

Edmund H. Huffman
Beaver City Resident, 81
Edmund Herbert Huffman, 81, of Beaver City, formerly of Ord, died Tuesday morning, June 8, 2004. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Fri., June 11 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Ord with Pastor David Uden officiating. Linda Nance was accompanist and the congregation sang hymns. Pallbearers were Dwight Loseke, Bill Huffman, Mark Kimle, Wayne Rodocker, Duane Lange and Curt Uden. Military rites were by the VFW Post #7029 and American Legion Post #38 of Ord. Burial was in the Ord City Cemetery. Mr. Huffman was born Mar. 17, 1923 at Sutherland to Marion Stanley and Maude (McMullen) Huffman. He was baptized into the Christian faith and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island on Sept. 2, 1949.

Esther Van Pelt
Central City Resident, 87
Esther Van Pelt, 87, of Central City, formerly of the Palmer and Hordville areas, died Mon., June 21, 2004 at the Long Term Care in Central City following a short illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thurs., June 24 at the Fridhem Lutheran Church in Hordville with Sister Mary Arie officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery near Palmer at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.soltfh.com. Solt Funeral Home of Central City is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Van Pelt was born Mr. 10, 1917 on the family farm north of Worms to Onen and Hattie (Wagner) Simonson. She attended Zion Lutheran School in Worms and Palmer High School; and in later years completed her high school work to receive her diploma. On Sept. 21, 1936 she married Charles "Chick" Van Pelt. The couple lived in the Archer and Palmer areas where they farmed until they moved into Palmer in 1961. She worked for nursing homes in Palmer and Central City. She also worked in the food service for Palmer Schools as well as helping her husband with his custodial duties at the school. In 1968 they moved to Hordville where she worked in the food service at the schools and continued to help her husband with custodial duties at the Hordville Schools. She retired in 1986 and they moved into Central City in 2003.

George B. Dilla Jr., 79, of Grand Island died Sun., Nov. 28, 2004 at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Tues., Nov. 30 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Fr. Frank Curran officiating. Burial was in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Dilla was born July 9, 1925 at Farwell to George A. and Anna (Skibinski) Dilla Sr. He grew up and received his education in Farwell, attending St. Anthony Grade School and Farwell High School, graduating in 1943. He attended Milford Trade School graduating in 1945. He lived in Hastings and worked at the US Naval Depot in Hastings for several years before moving to Grand Island. He began employment with Brown's Auto Supply in 1948 working as a machinist until his retirement in 1984. On July 7, 1952 he married Garnett Kokes at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord.

Opal Grace Mills, 88, of Arnold died Sun., Nov. 28, 2004 at her home in Arnold. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thurs., Dec. 2 at the Arnold Methodist Church. Pastors Eugene Purcell and Richard Burgess will officiate. Mrs. Marvin Weber, Mrs. Dorothy Larreau and Melody Jennings will provide the music. Pallbearers are grandchildren, Wendy Olson, Mike Wigstone, Jeremiah Bowers, Joshua Bowers, Briana Mills and April Mills. Honorary pallbearers are Mark Wigstone, who is stationed in Kuwait with the Army National Guard, Tracy Gonzales in Lake City, FL and Todd Anderson of Eugene, OR. Burial will be in the Arnold Cemetery in Arnold. Arnold Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Mills was born Sept. 10, 1916 on a farm southwest of Loup City to Omenzo Granville and Amanda Belle (Yarrington) Hunt. She grew up on the family farm and attended Sherman County District #35 school. She had many fond memories of her childhood on the farm with her brothers and sisters and the chores they did together. She was the 10th of 11 siblings. On Aug. 4, 1939 she married Anson Frazer in Grand Island. The couple farmed near North Loup until his death Apr. 15, 1947.

Floyd J. Dye
Barton County, MO Resident, 93
Floyd J. Dye, 93, of Lamar, MO died Sun., Mar. 28, 2004 at Lakeview Health Care Center in Lamar, MO. Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wed., Mar. 31 at Daniel Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 7-7:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Fri., Apr. 2 at the Ord City Cemetery. Mr. Dye was born May 14, 1910 in Ord to Clarence and Emma Dye. He completed all of his schooling in Ord, graduating from Ord High School in 1928. On Aug. 14, 1932 he married Eloise Augusta Aldrich in Phillipsburg, KS. His wife died Jan. 12, 1995. Mr. Dye lived in Barton County since 1951 and was a long-time farmer and rancher. He had worked for Brother Adams and Gerald Medlin Fort Implement Dealership. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Lamar. Survivors include a daughter, Emmara Hepp of Olympia, WA; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Russell Wilt of Belton, MO; and a sister-in-law, Vera Boelter of Anaheim, CA. He was preceded in death by his wife and two brothers, Vernon Dye and Roy Dye.

Gail N. Reineke
Ord Resident, 55
Gail Norvin Reineke, 55, of Ord formerly of Burwell died Tues., Mar. 23, 2004 at his home following a battle with cancer. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Fri., Mar. 26 at the First Christian Church in Burwell with Pastor Rolly Salts and Mr. Roy Weber officiating. Hitchcock Funeral Home of Burwell was in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the family. Mr. Reineke was born Apr. 1, 1948 in Burwell to Jack and Pearl (Thompson) Reineke. On Apr. 4, 1965 he married Donna Colfack at Taylor. They lived in Montrose, CO where he worked on a ranch. They then moved back to Burwell and he worked at Loup Valley Alfalfa for 23 years as a truck driver. In 1983 they moved to Ord and he worked at the Valley County Roads Department. He operated heavy equipment but primarily operated a maintainer. His wife died June 19, 1998. His cancer recently forced him to stop working.

Cecil F. Severance, 93, of North Loup died Sun., Mar. 28, 2004 at the Valley County Nursing Home in Ord. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Fri., Apr. 2 at the North Loup Seventh Day Baptist Church with Pastor Christian Mattison officiating. Jeneane Abel will be the accompanist and singing will be the Seventh Day Baptist Church Choir. Pallbearers are Cletus Severance, Galen Severance, Keith Severance, Terry Keown, Christopher Severance, Brice Severance, Bernie Keown and Tom Keown. Honorary pallbearers are SDB Deaconate and the North Loup Lions Club. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery at North Loup. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be Thurs., Apr. 1 from 6-8 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Seventh Day Baptist Church Deacons Fund or the North Loup First Responders. Mr. Severance was born Dec. 25, 1910 at Grand Island to Carl and Corabelle (Whitney) Severance. He grew up in Grand Island where he received his education. In 1926 he moved with his father to Arkansas where he worked at a sawmill until moving to New Jersey where he worked in produce for a summer. He returned to Nebraska, settling in the beautiful North Loup Valley.

Lloyd D. "Zik" Zikmund, 82, of Ord died Sun., Mar. 28, 2004 at the Veterans Home in Grand Island. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thurs., Apr. 1, 2004 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord with Father Jim Heithoff officiating. Carol Estudillo will be the accompanist and Tim Glendening the soloist. Pallbearers are Eugene Augustyn, Larry Schultz, Mike Pesek, Bruce Lammers, Chuck Kokes and Dale Melia. Honorary pallbearers are Leland Christensen, Allen Zikmund, Bill Gogan, Harold Christensen, Everett Lech, Bob Seger and Jack Koll. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery with military rites by VFW #7029 and American Legion #38. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be Wed., Mar. 31 from 6-8 p.m. with rosary at 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the family. Mr. Zikmund was born Mar. 20, 1922 at Ord to Emil and Lena (Slavicek) Zikmund. He was raised in Valley County. When he was five years old he began studying music, both vocal and instrumental, participating in bands in high school and at dances. He was a member of the men's University of Nebraska Glee Club, UNL Acapela Choir as well as church and many choral groups. He graduated from Ord High School in 1939 and from St. Paul Business College and from NYA, Community College in Kearney. He was employed at the US Navy Ammunition Depot at Hastings.

Vera Stunkel Maxson
Ansley Resident, 76
Vera Stunkel Maxson, 76, of Ansley died Sun., Aug. 15, 2004 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Funeral services will be held Thurs., Aug. 19 at the First Christian Church in Ansley with Mel Sheppard officiating. Pallbearers are her grandsons, Jeff, Greg, Jade, DJ, Tim, and Steven Stunkel. Burial will be in Lee Park near Arcadia. Govier Brothers Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the Gideon Bible Society. Mrs. Maxson was born Apr. 12, 1928 near Ansley to Floyd and Wilnetta (Crawford) Hyatt. She attended grade school at Deem in Custer County and high school at Arcadia and Mason City. On May 15, 1945 she married Durward J. Stunkel at Broken Bow. To this union four sons were born. The couple spent most of their married life in the Ansley and Mason City areas.
