Visitation was held Friday, May 16, 2003 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hitchcock Funeral Home, Burwell, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to the Cedar Creek Church.

CHARLIE WILLIAM FAJMON
Charlie William Fajmon, 93, of Burwell, Nebraska died Friday, May 16, 2003, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell, Nebraska. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2003 at Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell, Nebraska. Rev. Jim Stillman officiated. Burial was in Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell, Nebraska. Betty Lue Shetterly, 77, of Burwell, Nebraska died Thursday, May 27, 2004 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. Graveside services were 10:00 a.m. mountain time on Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at Syracuse Cemetery in Syracuse, Kansas. Visitation was from 5 - 8 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2004 at Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to the Loup County Rescue Unit.

William Doran, Sr.
Doran, William "Bill" Gerald, Sr., 78, of Palm Harbor, FL; formerly of Denver, CO, died May 6, 2004 at his home. Born and raised in Burwell, he moved with his family to Lincoln in the 1930s and graduated from Cathedral High School in Lincoln, in 1943. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Harrison Doran, Sr. and Jessamine Agnes Flynn Doran; his brothers, John Harrison Doran, Jr., Robert Roland Doran, and an infant sister Marian Doran.

Nellie Scheibel
Nellie Scheibel, 84, of Beaver City died Sunday, September 19, 2004, at Beaver City Manor. Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2004, at First United Methodist Church in Kearney with the Revs. Ron Harris and Linda Knipping officiating. Burial was at Prairie Center Cemetery near Kearney. Visitation was from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City and one hour before service time Wednesday at the church in Kearney.

VEDA IONA ASHMAN
Veda Iona Ashman was born February 18, 1911 to Dean and Edith (Mattley) Moser in Ord, Nebraska. Veda spent her youth and attended school in Ord. While in high school Veda worked in a number of different jobs including working for the local funeral director and driving an ambulance. On April 23, 1932 Veda was married to John (Bud) Ashman by Rev. Spacklin at Ord, NE. They were blessed with three children. Veda was a member of the First Christian Church and the Rebecca Lodge. She enjoyed crocheting, baking and traveling. But most of all she enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren. Veda entered eternal rest on April 13, 2001 at Westwood place in Watertown, Minnesota at the age of 90 years. She is survived by her daughter UnaBeth Butcher and husband Fred of Watertown, Minnesota, Betty Alice Janicek and husband Alvin of Newcastle, CO, and Janice Marie Robasse and husbad Kenny of Buffalo, Minnesota. Nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. Brother-in-law Archie Ashman and sister-in-law Hazel Shelton. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Bud) brother Ellsworth Moser, sister Dalma Smith. Grandchildren, Dougie and Gary Janicek, Kelly Frye, Katie Patton and Nathan Frye.

VIOLET M. ADAMEK
Violet M. Adamek, 69, of Lincoln died Tuesday, March 6, 2001 at her home. Funeral services were held at St. John's Catholic Church, Saturday, March 10th at 10:30 a.m. with Father James Benton officiating. Rosary was at 8 p.m. Friday. Metcalf Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial at Fairview Cemetery in Lincoln.

EVELYN ALLIE ELLIOTT
Eveleyn Allie Elliott, 83 of Mullen died Monday June 14th [1999] at the Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home in Mullen. She was born November 18, 1915 in Thedford, Ne. to Clarence and Bertha (Frasier) Revere. Evelyn was one of four children. She grew up in the Helca area West of Mullen. A lifelong sandhill native and graduating from the Mullen High School in 1932. Evelyn married Charles (Chuck) Elliott at the Methodist Church parsonage on July 6, 1937. They spent almost 62 years together. She is a past member of the Rebekah Lodge, a member of the Senior Citizens Club in Mullen. Evelyn is survived by her husband Chuck, a son, Bud and wife Marilyn, of Great Falls, MT., four daughters, Joyce and husband Ed Deterding of Anselmo, Myrna and husband Connie Pete Boyer, of Mullen, Mary and husband Don Williams, of Grand Island, Janet and husband Lynn Horwart, of Deshaler, a sister, Mary McConnell of Mullen, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and several other relatives and friends. She was preceded by her parents, a brother, a sister, granddaughter, and great granddaughter, and son-in-law. Funeral services were held Wednesday June 16th at 2 p.m. M.D.T. at the United Methodist Church in Mullen, Ne. with Rev. Delbert King officiating. Music was by Ted Hilderhoff and Lois Folk. Visitation was held Tuesday from 1 to 9 p.m. M.D.T. at the Mullen Funeral Home and Wednesday until service time at the church. Burial will be in the Cedarview Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Mullen Fire Dept. and E.M.T.'s and the Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home in Mullen.

BETTY G. WHITNEY
Betty G. (Lockard) Whitney passed away April 30, 1999, in Burien, WA. Graveside Service was May 21,1999, at Washington Memorial Park, SeaTac, WA with the Rev. Judy Morishima-Nelson officiating. Betty was born September 11, 1922 at Ericson, NE. She was the daughter of Charles W. and Mary E. (Conger) Lockard. She lived in Ericson until 1940, attending grade school and high school at Ericson. She moved to Omaha. Betty graduated from Tech High in 1941 at Omaha. She married Claude Whitney in 1941, and he died in 1948. In 1949 she moved to Seattle, WA, where she passed away April 30, 1999. Betty had no children. She is survived by many nieces and great nieces, Jackie Dickey, Hastings; Sharon Knake, Nehawka, NE; Helen Jean Gillming, Noel, MO; Linda and Cindy Lockard of Washington; Judy Boyd of Washington; Kathy Connell of California. Nephews were John Lockard, Tennessee; Merritt Dodson, Colorado; Charles and Claude Connell, California; Gary Lockard, California; Bob Lockard, Washington. Great nephews Kevin Knake, Grand Island; Mike Knake, Loup City, NE. Sister of Betty Audrey Lockard Dodson, Kenesaw Nursing Home; brother John of Tacoma, WA. Deceased sister Katherine Connell, brothers and sister Tona, Ellie at birth and George, Carl. Betty had many friends. She was a retired welder of Boeing Air space in Washington.

MORRIS L. FISHER
Morris L. Fisher, 65, prominent businessman with Farmers Insurance and Past Grand Master of Masons in Kansas died March 10, 1998, at his home in Derby, Kansas. He was born October 27, 1932, to George and Zona Morris Fisher in Custer County, Nebraska, on a farm near Comstock. His early schooling was in local rural schools. He attended Comstock High School from where he graduated in 1950. During those early years he was interested in 4-H and the local sports programs. After graduation he worked for two years on farms in western Kansas. On May 27, 1952, he married Irene Snyder and shortly afterward they moved to Wichita, Kansas, where he was employed by Boeing Aircraft. His employment was interrupted when he was drafted into the military service in 1953. His basic training was at Camp Pickett, Virginia. He spent the balance of his military time as a Medic stationed at Nuremberg, Germany. He received an honorable discharge with the rank of Sergeant in March of 1955 and returned to Wichita and again, was employed by Boeing. While at Boeing he worked second shift for several years enabling him to attend Friends University during the day. He graduated from Friends University with a BA in Agriculture in 1960. He later attended Wichita State University in Wichita for two years doing graduate work towards a Masters in Business Administration. After leaving Boeing in 1970, Mr. Fisher worked two years as a manager for Lucas Products Company out of Bedford, Iowa. Mr. Fisher then began a career in the insurance business with Farmers Insurance and was still there at the time of his death. In June 1997 after he was diagnosed with terminal cancer he began training his daughter, Cynthia Vancil to take over his agency which she has now done. Mr. Fisher had a long and distinguished Masonic career. His career in Masonry began in 1964 when he was initiated as an Entered Apprentice in Derby Lodge #365 in Derby, Kansas. He was raised to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason and served as Master of Derby Lodge #365 in 1974, 1978 and 1989. He held a Perpetual Life membership in Derby Lodge. He served as District Deputy Grand Master of District #37 in 1985 and as Area Deputy Grand Master of Area Five in 1989 and 1990. He was appointed in the Progressive Grand Lodge line as Grand Senior Warden by M.W. Conrad Johnson in 1991 and became Grand Master of Masons of Kansas in 1995. His year as Grand Master was distinguished by his efforts and accomplishments and was a pleasure to him. He belonged to the York Rite Chapter 333, Council 312 and Commandry 312 as well as the Scottish Rite Bodies in Wichita and the Midian Shrine Temple, AAONMS of Wichita. In addition, he was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #89 in Derby. He was initiated into the Royal Order of Scotland in 1993 and the York Rite council, Knights Mason of the U.S.A. in 1994. He belonged to the Philatelies Society and was a member of the Keystone High-12 club in Wichita. He served four times as president of the Moonlight Lodge Committee and also as its director. He was a past Grand Commander of the Midian Shrine past Master's Unit as well as a member of the Midian Bowlers Unit; in addition he was very active in the Masonic Mile of Food which collected food for the needy. Brother Fisher was named as an Outstanding Mason by the Grand Lodge of Kansas on two separate occasions and served as President of the Mid-West Conference on Masonic Education in 1994 when he hosted that conference in Wichita. In the area of crime prevention he was instrumental in establishing the Crimestoppers program in Derby. Mr. Fisher was a member of the Woodlawn United Methodist Church, Derby, Kansas, where he served as Sunday School Teacher. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed the out-of-doors, being as active as time would permit in big game hunting and golf. Morris and Irene were the proud parents of two sons, Michael and wife Pam of San Diego, California, Steven and wife Pam of Kingman, Kansas, and a daughter Cynthia and Alan Vancil of Derby, Kansas, and seven grandchildren-all boys. He is also survived by two brothers, Clarence of Oberlin, Kansas; Paul and Juanita of Oswego, Kansas and two sisters Phyllis and Bryce Bartu of Seward, Nebraska; Marlene and Mike Cowley of Ft. Collins, Colorado. Also by several nieces and Nephews. He was preceeded in death by his father, mother, and an infant sister. Funeral services were held March 14, 1998 at Woodlawn United Methodist Church in Derby, Kansas with arrangements by Smith Mortuary of Derby. Internment was at El Paso Cemetery in Derby, Kansas.

ALMA M. MEYER
Alma M. Meyer, 87, of Burwell, Nebraska died March 22, 1998 at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell, Nebraska. Funeral services were held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday March 25, 1998 at the United Methodist Church in Burwell, Nebraska. Burial took place in the Broken Bow Cemetery. Rev. Roger Gillming will officiate. Visitation was held from 5-8 P.M. Tuesday March 24, 1998 at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Alma was born July 22, 1910 near Litchfield, Nebraska to Lee and Bertha (Wilson) Van Winkle. She moved to Loup County in 1923. Alma attended school in Sherman County, Loup County and graduated from Burwell High School in 1927 . She then went on to Kearney Teachers College. Alma moved to rural Broken Bow, NE in 1928. She taught in rural schools in Garfield and Custer Counties for eight years. Alma married Ronald L. Meyer, Sr., May 28, 1938 in Grand Island, Nebraska. They moved to Ft. Hartsuff in 1952 and then to the Calamus river area in 1961 before moving to Burwell, Nebraska in 1964. Ronald died March 21, 1983. Alma was a past member of the Dutchman Valley Extension Club. She is a member of the Burwell Methodist Church. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting and reading in earlier years. Alma is survived by one son and his wife: Ronald and Carla Meyer. One grandson: David Meyer: and one granddaughter Kyla Meyer all of Fremont, Nebraska. Alma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant son Roger, four brothers and three sisters.
