PEMBROKE - Lois Rinck, 84, of Pembroke Street, died April 1 at the Courville Home in Manchester. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. at Petit Funeral Home, 167 Main St., Pembroke. Services will follow at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Donald McDowell will officiate. Burial will follow with military honors at 1:45 p.m. at the VA National Cemetery of Massachusetts in Bourne, Mass.

Thomas E. Dempsey , NEW LONDON

NEW LONDON - Thomas Earl Dempsey, 77, died yesterday at home after a long illness. He was born in St. Paul, Minn., the son of Earl and Margaret (Meighen) Dempsey. He graduated from Taft School in Watertown, Conn., in 1943 and graduated from Harvard in 1947, where he was a member of the SAE fraternity and the Hasty Pudding Club. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and served as 2nd lieutenant pilot. He was an instructor stateside. Dempsey moved to New London 15 years ago. He is the third generation of the Minnesota Pioneer Meighen/Dempsey families working in the newspaper field. He worked for the 3M in the New England office and in the advertising office for the Philadelphia Bulletin before working for the Boston Globe in 1966, where he worked as an executive until retiring in 1989. While working at the Globe he traveled extensively to the Caribbean, developing the new "Travel" section. He also worked with the banking community in promoting new and more extensive advertising. He was a lifetime member of the Sons of the American Revolution in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, where he was active in the Bicentennial Celebration; board member of the chamber of commerce of Boston Executive Club; member of the Boston and N.Y. Harvard Clubs, the N.Y. Athletic Club, the Winsor Club in Waban, Mass., and the Wynchmere Harbor Club on Cape Cod; a 10-year board member of the Friends of the Norris Cotton Cancer Center; and a member of the Country Squires of New London. Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Joyce (Stanton) Callas; three daughters, Carol Donovan of Turlock, Calif., Elinor Dempsey of Fresno, Calif., and Margaret Kuskie of Fresno, Calif.; a brother, Mark of Woburn, Mass.; seven grandchildren; and four nieces. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 75 Main St., New London Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Newton Cemetery in Newton Centre, Mass. Memorial donations may be made to the Lake Sunapee Region Visiting Nurse Association Hospice, P.O. Box 2209, New London 03257; or to the Friends of the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, One Medical Center Drive, Lebanon 03756. Chadwick Funeral Home in New London is in charge of the arrangements.

William E. Wilkie Sr., DADE CITY, N.Y.

DADE CITY, N.Y. - William E. Wilkie Sr., 87, of Bass Drive, died Friday at Pasco Regional Medical center in Dade City, N.Y., after a short illness. He was born in Schenectady, N.Y., and was formerly of Albermarle Road in Scotia, N.Y. He worked as a truck driver for General Electric Co. for more than 28 years before retiring in 1978. He also worked for Solan Sales in Albany, N.Y., for nine years. Wilkie was a former member of the Trinity Reformed Church. He was a 57-year member of the Pine Grove Fire Department and the G.E. Quarter Century Club. Survivors include two sons, William Wilkie of Delanson, N.Y., and James Wilkie of Middleburg, N.Y.; a daughter, Katherine Killam of Concord; a sister, Katherine Quay of Schenectady, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. His wife, Janet (Wagoner) Wilkie, died in 1990; and a daughter, Janette Scott, died in 2000. Calling hours will be held Thursday from noon to 1 p.m. at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway and Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, N.Y. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date at Viewland Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Pine Grove Fire Department, Gifford's Church Road, Schenectady, N.Y. 12306.

Suzanne Desrochers-Provencher, BRADENTON, Fla.

BRADENTON, Fla. - Suzanne M. Desrochers-Provencher, 53, formerly of Manchester and sister of Muriel Healy of Warner, died Feb. 24 in Bradenton, Fla. A memorial Mass will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 265 S. Main St., Manchester. A reception will follow at Belmont Hall Restaurant, 718 Grove St., Manchester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Fibromyalgia Syndrome Association Inc., 6380 E. Tangue Verde, Ste. D, Tucson, Ariz. 85715. Kenneth J. Forbes

Kenneth Joseph Forbes, 79, died Friday at the Hospice House in Concord. He was born in Waltham, Mass., the son of Thomas and Muriel (Justason) Forbes. He graduated from Saint Anselm College. He served in the Navy during World War II. He worked as general manager at John Grappone Ford in Concord for many years. Forbes served as past president of the Concord Country Club, was a past member of the Concord Kiwanis Club and was a member of the D.A.V. He loved playing the piano and painting. He built his own nine-hole golf course at his summer home in Canada. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary Forbes; three sons, Kerry Forbes and Thomas Forbes, both of Dover, and Daniel Forbes of Barrington; three daughters, Sharyn Sullivan of Manchester, Kathryn Forbes-Fisher of Exeter and Ann Williamson of Concord; a brother, Ralph Forbes of Lady Lakes, Fla.; four sisters, Lois Burke of Pinellas Park, Fla., Dorothy Ann Quirk of Billerica, Mass., Nancy Popuj of Natick, Mass., and Karen Connolly of Plymouth, Mass., 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two aunts and an uncle. Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 2 to 4 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Home, 3 Church St., Concord. Services will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association, Hospice House, P.O. Box 1797, Concord 03302-1797.

Walter J. Bourke Jr., 51, of South Street in Concord, died Saturday at Concord Hospital after a sudden illness. He was born in Springfield, Mass., the son of Walter and Marguerite (Vaughan) Bourke Sr. He graduated from Springfield (Mass.) Technical High School in 1969. He lived in Concord for the past 20 years. Bourke worked as an electrician. Survivors include his parents; a son, Stephen Bourke of Concord; a daughter, Sara Bourke of Concord; and a sister, Suzanne Middleton of Wilbraham, Mass. A brother, Daniel Bourke, died in 1983. Calling hours will not be held. Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Burial will be held at Blossom Hill Cemetery in Concord. John F. Goodwin

John F. Goodwin, 86, of Concord, died April 1 at Concord Hospital. He was born in Plymouth, the son of John and Christie (Morrison) Goodwin. He was raised in Piermont and lived in Weirs Beach for many years. He earned a high school diploma in 1934 from Bradford (Vt.) Academy and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of New Hampshire in 1938. Goodwin was self-employed as an earth-moving contractor and later owned Goodwin's Crane and Equipment Service Corp., Goodwin's Dock and Marine Construction Corp., Goodwin's Boats and Motors and Goodwin's Hydrodynamics Inc. He owned and flew a Piper Apache as part of his business. He served as trustee and director of Meredith Trust Co. from 1956 to 1986; as president of the New Hampshire Society of Professional Engineers; was active in Masonry, serving as Worshipful Master of the Mount Lebanon Lodge No. 32 F & AM in Laconia; and was a member of the Bektash Temple Shrine in Concord, the Harmony Grange No. 99 in Sanbornton, Merrimack Country Pomona Grange No. 3 and the New Hampshire State Grange. He served as president of the Winnipesaukee Aviation. He received his pilot's license in 1941 and flew until 1981 after attaining multi-engine, instrument and commercial licenses. He enjoyed RV traveling, golfing and boating. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ruth( Jewell) Goodwin; two sons, Carl Goodwin of Safety Harbor, Fla., and Dale Goodwin of Dover; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Weirs United Methodist Church, 35 Tower St., Weirs Beach. Karen Maleri, Chaplain of Havenwood-Heritage Heights, will officiate, and Marilyn Ayer, pastor of the church, will assist. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the John F. Goodwin Memorial Fund, c/o Treasurer of Weirs Beach United Methodist Church, Weirs Beach; or the charity of one's choice. Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home in Laconia is in charge of the arrangements.

LACONIA - Robert L. "Sharkey" Sharkey Jr., 50, of Roller Coaster Road, died Sunday at home. He was born in Boston, the son of Robert and Anne (McGuerty) Sharkey Sr. He lived in Georges Mills before moving to Laconia 14 years ago. He worked as warehouse manager for Fisher Ski-USA in Concord for five years before retiring due to illness. Sharkey was also co-proprietor of thee area businesses, including the Pheasant Ridge Country Club, Cackling Crow in Gilford and Crossroads in Weirs Beach. He was an avid sports fan and especially loved Boston teams. Survivors include his mother of New London; two sons, Robert Sharkey III of New London and Michael Sharkey of Watertown, Mass.; a brother, David Sharkey of Georges Mills; and his companion, Signe "Ziggy" Wallace of Laconia. His father died previously. Calling hours will not be held. Services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Carriage House at Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia. Helen A. Holdstock, FRANKLIN

FRANKLIN - Helen A. Holdstock, 96, died Saturday at the Mt. Ridge Center Genesis Eldercare Network in Franklin. She was born in Burlington, Vt., the daughter of George and Anne (Foley) LaDuke, She was a longtime resident of Burlington, Vt., and moved to Laconia in 1979, where she lived on Pleasant Street. She worked as a personal secretary for President Cook at Bayer Co., retiring in 1939. Survivors include two sons, David Cass of Tucson, Ariz., and John Holdstock of Yorkville, N.Y.; and six grandchildren. Her husband, Richard Holdstock, died previously. Burial will be held at a later date at the family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Burlington, Vt. Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home in Laconia is in charge of the arrangements.

Bruce A. Locke, PINELLAS PARK, Fla.

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. - Bruce A. Locke, 62, died April 24 in Pinellas Park, Fla., after a long illness. He was born in Concord, the son of Henry and Elinor Locke. He graduated from Concord High School in 1959. He worked for Dividers Plus Drywall Co. in Bedford. Locke was a member of the American Legion Post 37. He played softball with the Concord Softball League for many years. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed Florida. Survivors include two daughters, Sally Nolet of Concord and Kelly Jenkins of Westbrook, Maine; two brothers, Robert Locke and Gary Locke, both of Concord; a sister, Kay Culberson of Pembroke; a companion, Patricia Sullivan of Florida; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. A brother, James Locke, died in 1998. Memorial services will be held May 6 at 2 p.m. at the Congregational Church of Hooksett, 5 Veterans Drive, Hooksett. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, Mass. 01701.

Catherine A. Wood, RYE

RYE - Catherine A. Wood, 79, of Locke Road and formerly of Concord, died Sunday at Portsmouth Regional Hospital after a sudden illness. She was born in Concord, the daughter of Robert and Anna (Flynn) Sullivan. She graduated from Concord High School in 1942 and from the University of New Hampshire. Wood was an avid golfer and was a past member of the Wentworth Fairways. Survivors include a brother, James Sullivan of Tewksbury, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews. Her husband, Lt. Col. David Wood, died in 1990; and a son, Michael Wood, died in 1970. Calling hours will not be held. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa Church in Rye Beach. Burial will be held at Central Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Rye Ambulance Fund, c/o Rye Fire Department, Rye 03870. Farrell Funeral Home in Portsmouth is in charge of the arrangements.
