Doris A. Audet, 85, of McKee Drive, died yesterday at home after a short illness.
She was born in Laconia, the daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Morin) Smith. She attended Laconia schools and had been a Concord resident since 1933.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Women's Club, concord.
She was an avid quilter and a longtime golfer at Beaver Meadow Golf Country Club.
She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Emmanuel Audet; and four brothers, William Smith, Oliva Smith, Roland Smith and Roger Smith.
She is survived by six daughters, Patricia Gagnon of Whiting, Maine, Jacqueline Cote of Jefferson, Elaine Clement, Linda Mahan and Judith White, all of Concord, and Joan St. Pierre of Parker, Colo.; two sons, Richard Audet of Chichester and Stephen Audet of Concord; 25 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a brother, Rolland "Jack" Smith of Laconia; three sisters, Germaine Cushing, Charlotte Toutaint and Jacqueline Brasley, all of Laconia; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Waters Funeral Home, 50 S. Main St., Concord.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 52 Pleasant St., Concord. The Rev. Aime Boisselle, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will take place after the service in Calvary Cemetery.

Margaret Maganzini, LACONIA

LACONIA - Margaret R. Maganzini, 88, of Court Street, died Monday in St. Francis Home.
She was born in Austria, the daughter of Anthony and Adele (Cereghini) Maffei. She lived in New York for many years, moving to Locke Lake, Center Barnstead, in 1972. She became a resident of Bishop Bradley Apartments, Laconia, in 1990.
During World War II, she was an Italian interpreter and worked as a teller for Anchor Savings Bank, New York.
Before retiring, she worked as a nursing home ombudsman in New Hampshire. She also volunteered at the Laconia State School Training Center with autistic children.
She was a member of the quilters club.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church, Laconia.
She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Maganzini.
She is survived by two sons, Herman Maganzini of Rockville, Md., and Anthony Maganzini of Wyckoff, N.J.; a daughter, Adele Teutonico of Ridge, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 30 Church St., Laconia. The Rev. Gary Kosmowski, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Smith Meetinghouse Cemetery, Gilmanton, where the Rev. Gary Kosmowski will bless the grave and offer the final Rite of Commendation.

Lawrence W. McKenna Sr., BREWSTER, Mass.

BREWSTER, Mass. - Lawrence W. McKenna Sr., 90, relative of area residents, died unexpectedly Monday at home. He had been a resident of Brewster for 19 years, and had previously lived in Springfield, Mass.
He was born in New Bedford, Mass., and graduated from Holy Family High School there in 1927. He was a star second baseman for Star Holy Family High School and later played semi-pro baseball.
He worked for General Baking Company in New Bedford, Mass., for more than 30 years. He held various positions with the company in New Bedford, Mass., and later in Springfield, Mass. He retired from the Springfield Office Supply Company in 1976.
He was an avid tennis player, bowler, bridge player and gardener.
He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Mary (Murphy) McKenna; and a child, Andrea Harris.
He is survived by four children, Lawrence McKenna Jr. of Norwell, Mass., Susan O'Donnell of Hopkinton, Mary Jane Cratty of Yardley, Pa., and Thomas McKenna of Stanford, Conn.; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Hugh McKenna, Gertrude Maxim and Dolly Fraga, all of New Bedford, Mass.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, Mass.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Chapel, Route 6A, Brewster, Mass.

Ruth E. Berberian, 60, of Concord died Friday at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester. She was born in Malden, Mass., the daughter of Fredrick H. and Eunice (Russell) Searles. She had lived in the Concord area for 42 years. She was a homemaker. She was a foster parent to many children for 13 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Concord for many years. She was predeceased by her husband, Archie Berberian, in 1986; and two brothers, Russell Searles and Fredrick Searles Jr. She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Berberian of Concord; four sons, David Berberian of Gramby, Conn., Lance Berberian of Conway, Ark., Sam Berberian and Jeff Berberian, both of Concord; two sisters, Shirley Severens of Walpole and Eunice Miller of Billerica, Mass.; and four grandchildren. Calling hours will be held today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wendell J. Butt Funeral Home, 42 Washington St., Penacook. Services will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. at the Church of Christ, 141 Fisherville Road. The Rev. Barry Day will officiate. The Wendell J. Butt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Niels F.F. Nielsen Jr., LACONIA

LACONIA - Niels F.F. Nielsen Jr., 74, of Emerald Drive, died Sunday at the Belknap County Nursing Home in Laconia. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of Niels and Carla (Sorensen) Nielsen Sr. He attended Brooklyn Technical High School and graduated from White Mountain Law Enforcement Academy in Plymouth, the New Hampshire Police Standards & Training School, the FBI Firearms Instructor School in Camp Curtis Guile, Mass., and other police schools. He joined the Merchant Marine and sailed in the Atlantic, Pacific and Far East war zones in 1945. He worked as a deckhand and engine room wiper on tugboats on the Erie Canal, Great Lakes, and Hudson River, N.Y.; received his first police appointment as auxiliary police officer in the 106th Precinct in Queens, N.Y., in 1950 and was later promoted to lieutenant of operations in the 24th Division. He worked as investigator for Friendly Household Finance in 1955, moving to New Hampshire in 1958. He worked as a carpenter and bridge construction foreman for the State of New Hampshire Highway Department in 1960 and was promoted to superintendent in 1961, a position he held until retiring in 1988. He was special police officer for Plymouth from 1965 to 1993; part-time officer for Waterville Valley from 1969 to 1979; special officer for Sanbornton in 1980; special deputy sheriff for Coos County from 1971 to 1975; special police officer for Bridgewater in 1974; special deputy sheriff for Grafton County from 1969 to 1993; and a Plymouth code enforcement officer from 1988-'89. He became connected with the Old Man of the Mountain while working with the State of New Hampshire Highway Department and was a member of the caretaking crew. He was appointed the first official caretaker of the Old Man of the Mountain by Gov. John Sununu and the Executive Council in 1987 and remained in that capacity until 1991, when his son, David, took over. He was caretaker emeritus after 1991. He gave lectures on the history, condition and preservation efforts of the Old Man of the Mountain since 1972. He was an active member of the Rumney Baptist Church and was the Central New Hampshire church coordinator for Chuck Colson's Prison Fellowship Ministry. He served on the Plymouth Town Budget Committee in 1978 and as state representative for Grafton District 8 from 1991 to 1992. He was a member of the Plymouth Board of Selectman from 1981 to 1985, the Plymouth Planning Board, the Plymouth Area High School Building Planning Committee and the Plymouth Town Shed Building Committee. He was active in New Hampshire Freemasonry. He was a member and past master of Olive Branch Lodge No. 16 F&AM of Plymouth; a member of Mount Lebanon Lodge No. 32 F&AM of Laconia; a member of the Chapter, Council and Commandry of the New Hampshire York Rite and the International Supreme Council Order of DeMolay, from which he was awarded the Legion of Honor; past district deputy grand master and past district deputy grand lecturer for the Eighth Masonic District; past grand steward of the Grand Lodge of New Hampshire; and charter member of the New Hampshire Police Square Club. He was recognized as a World War II veteran and granted a Coast Guard/Merchant Marine honorable discharge in 1991. He was a competitive archer for 20 years, performing on the Wendy Barrie Show and the Tonight Show as well as in exhibitions and competitions. He was active in police pistol competitions and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was predeceased by his wife, Louise (Colburn) Nielsen, who died in 1999; and a son, Thomas Nielsen, who died in 1973. Survivors include three sons, Michael Nielsen of Laconia, Robert Nielsen of San Jose, Calif., and David Nielsen of Gilmanton Iron Works; a brother, Dusty Nielsen of Spring Hills, Fla.; two sisters, Marie Johnson of Commack, N.Y., and Judy Gering of Newport; a grandson; a great-grandson; and nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 9 p.m. at the Dewhirst Funeral Home, 1061 Union Ave., Laconia. Funeral services will be held Friday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Lloyd V. Sawyer, 92, of Christian Avenue, Concord, died Monday at Havenwood Nursing Home in Concord. He was born in Woodstock, the son of Vincent and Pauline (Brown) Sawyer. He earned a bachelor's degree form the University of New Hampshire in 1931. He was a Seabee in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He worked as a landscape engineer for the state of New Hampshire for 40 years, retiring in 1972. He also worked for the New Hampshire Humane Society and on the ski patrol in Woodstock for many years. He was a member of First Congregational Church in Concord. He was a member of the Parker Masonic Lodge No. 97 in Lincoln, the New Hampshire Consistory Valley of Nashua, the Scottish Rite Bodies and the Bektash Temple Shrine. He loved the outdoors and was an avid skier. He was predeceased by a sister, Ethel Downing who died in 1999. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Margaret (Durgin) Sawyer of Concord; three sons, Lloyd Sawyer Jr. of Lynchburg, Va., Wendell Sawyer of Corona del Mar, Calif., and Mark Sawyer of Bow; a daughter, Roanne Sanborn of Loudon; a sister, Helen Ricker of Woodstock; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at a later date with burial to be in Woodstock Cemetery. RYE - Jonathan M. Bly, 53, of Holland Drive, died Monday at Portsmouth Regional Hospital after a battle with cancer. He was born in North Conway, the son of Robert and Natalie (Waterman) Bly. He graduated from Milford High School and earned a bachelor's degree from New Hampshire College. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He lived on the Seacoast for 30 years. He worked as general manager for Standard Plumbing and Heating Co., for 28 years. He was active with the Boy Scouts as a committee chairman and a member of the Rye Lions Club. Survivors include his mother of Pembroke; his wife, Judi (Dionne) Bly; three sons, Jeffrey Bly of Missouri and Jared Bly and Jordan Bly, both of Rye; a daughter, Jennifer VanBuskird of Michigan; a sister, Judy Davis of Pembroke; three grandchildren; aunts and uncles; and a cousin. She worked for the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services before retiring. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick Kreitzer, who died in 1995. He was born in South Portland, Maine, the son of James and Elinor (Chapin) Craig. He attended the Worcester Boys Trade School and later trained as a meat cutter. He worked as manager of the Great Atlantic & Pacific Team Company in Athol, Mass., and National Grocery Chains in Winchendon, Mass., and Keene. He later became the caretaker, gardener and personal chauffeur for George Parker, founder of Parker Brothers Games, for 50 years. He loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener. He was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn (Balch) Craig, who died in 1981; two daughters; a son; and two grandchildren. Survivors include a daughter, Jan Davis of Loudon; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. FRANKLIN - John W. Doyle, 86, of Hillside Circle died yesterday at Harris Hill Center Genesis Eldercare Network in Concord. He was born in Newburyport, Mass., the son of John and Mary Ellen (Ryan) Doyle. He was raised in Newburyport, Mass., and lived there many years, moving to Lafayette, Ind., for 10 years. He also lived in New Haven, Conn., East Winsor, Conn., and Meriden, Conn., before moving to New Hampshire 20 years ago. He graduated from Newburyport High School and played semi-pro baseball in Newburyport, Mass. He worked at Towle Silversmiths and The Portsmouth Navy Yard; as program director at Duncan Electric in Lafayette, Ind.; and as program director for the State of Connecticut Children's Institutions and Mental Health in Connecticut. He also taught adult education in Laconia. He volunteered for the city of Franklin for three years and served on the State of New Hampshire Juvenile Justice Board under former governor Hugh Gallen. He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Doyle. Survivors include a daughter, Lee Veverka of Laconia; and a brother, Norman Doyle of Newburyport, Mass. Burial will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery in Newburyport, Mass. H.L. Young & Company Memorial Home, 175 S. Main St., Franklin, is in charge of the arrangements.

Hugo E. Genini, 86, of Pleasant Street, Concord, died yesterday at the New Hampshire Odd Fellows Home. He was born in Concord, the son of Stefano and Emma (Miniutti) Genini. He graduated from Concord High School in 1933 and studied engineering with I.C.S. and the Armed Forces Institute. He served with the U.S. Navy Seabees in the South Pacific during World War II and in the Navy Reserves for 31 years, retiring as a chief warrant officer. He worked for the State of New Hampshire Public Works and Highway Department for 42 years, retiring as district construction engineer in 1976. He also worked as the chief engineer in reconstructing Main Street in Concord in 1952 and designed and supervised the construction and expansion of the Concord Country Club from nine to 18 holes in 1971. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Concord, the Concord Elks Lodge, the Southern New Hampshire Skating Club and the Concord Country Club. Survivors include a sister, Elizabeth Olsen of South Portland, Maine; a niece, Jane Johnson of Windham, Maine; a grand niece; and a grand nephew. Calling hours will not be held. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 1 p.m. in St. Peter's Church, 135 N. State St., Concord. Burial will follow in Blossom Hill Cemetery. He lived in Weare for most of his life, moving to Fremont 25 years ago. He worked as a lumberman for many companies in the Weare area. He was a former member of the Weare Fire Department and the Halitown Grange. He was an avid gardener. He was predeceased by two wives, Hilda Dwinnells and Dorothy Dwinnells. Survivors include a stepson, Lloyd Bishop Sr. of Fremont; a sister, Gladys Dwinnells of Linden, Pa.; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
