Thursday, October 28, 1999

Molly E. Ash, 84, of Pleasant Street, died Monday at Pleasant View Center Genesis Eldercare in Concord.

She was born in Concord, the daughter of William and Emma (Speer) Walters, and was a 1933 graduate of Concord High School.

She worked as a salesperson at Martin's House of Cloth for several years.

She was a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church, the Business & Professional Women's Club and a bowling league.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Ash, and a brother, Jack Walters.

She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Hale of Arizona; two grandchildren; a brother, Harry Walters of Concord; a sister, Bernice Patridge of Concord; and nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Concord. The Rev. David Jones, rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, will officiate.

Burial will take place after the service in Blossom Hill Cemetery.

Doris F. Mann, HILLSBORO

Thursday, October 28, 1999

HILLSBORO - Doris F. Mann, 87, died Tuesday at her son's home.

She was born in Fitchburg, Mass., the daughter of Albert and Grace (Tichnor) Fish. She lived in Hopkinton after her retirement and later moved to Hillsboro.

She was a registered nurse and worked for 30 years at the Fay School in Southboro, Mass. She retired in 1973.

She attended Deering Community Church.

She was predeceased by her husband, Douglas Mann.

She is survived by two sons, W.M. Bruce Mann of Hillsboro and Douglas Mann of Deer Island, Maine; one daughter, Judith Donnelon of Damariscotta, Maine; and five grandchildren.

There are no calling hours.

Funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

Donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 456 Beech St., P.O. Box 1014, Manchester 03105.

The Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home, Hillsboro, is in charge of arrangements.

Ethel B. Herrick, BOSCAWEN

Saturday, October 30, 1999

BOSCAWEN -Ethel B. Herrick, 91, died Thursday at Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen after a period of poor health.

She was born in Flint, Mich., the daughter of William and Alice (Jadwin) Wright. She was a 1925 graduate of Flint Central High School and attended Michigan Normal College in Ypsilanti, Mich., prior to her marriage to E. Elroy Herrick in 1929.

She moved to New London in 1989 from Orange City, Fla.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of New London, and her hobbies included travel, antiques and coin collecting.

She is survived by a son, Kenneth Herrick of New London; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Private memorial services and internment of ashes will be in Flint, Mich., at the convenience of the family. There will be no local services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Merrimack County Nursing Home, or your favorite charity.

Betty A. Fife, FRANKLIN

Sunday, October 31, 1999

FRANKLIN - Betty A. Fife, 56, of Franklin, died at her home on Thursday.

She was born in Manchester, the daughter of Antoine and Gertrude (Cassidy) Dukette.

She had lived in Franklin for the past 25 years, previously living in Manchester and Boscawen.

She worked as an assembler at Hoyt Electric in Penacook, and later at the New Hampshire State Hospital in Concord. She loved ceramics and stenciling.

She is survived by two sons, John Fife Jr. of Salisbury and Kevin Fife of Canterbury; five daughters, Donna Haglund of Hillsboro, Laurie Perkins of Boscawen, Lisa Fowler of Laconia, Melissa Fife of Franklin, and Patricia Sturtevant of Hooksett; her former husband, John Fife Sr. of Northfield; a sister, Marie Perrault of Manchester; 12 grandchildren; a dear friend, Keith Hurd of Franklin; and a great-grandson, Jordan Ash.

There are no calling hours. After cremation, there will be a memorial service at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the Hope Tabernacle, 222 Cedar St., Manchester.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Betty Ann Fife Memorial Fund, care of Bow Mills Bank and Trust, 503 South St., Bow 03304.

Robert R. Coulombe, WEARE

WEARE - Robert Roland Coulombe, 45, formerly of 93 Twin Bridge Road, died yesterday at the Hospice House in Concord following a long illness.
He was born in Manchester and lived in Goffstown most of his life before moving to Weare in 1994.
He was the owner of Custom Computer Services in Weare.
He was a former director of Goffstown Junior Baseball and Tri-Town Soccer. He was active in sponsoring and coaching many teams for Goffstown Parks and Recreation Department. He was nominated for the 1995 Clint Robinson Award for his work with the department.
He was a member of St. Lawrence Church in Goffstown.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann (Cummings) Coulombe of Weare; his parents, Roger and Theresa Coulombe of Goffstown; two sons, Bryan Coulombe of Houston, Texas, and Jonathan Coulombe of Goffstown; two step-sons, Shawn Lane of Hillsboro and Kenneth Lane of Martha's Vineyard, Mass.; a daughter, Stephanie Coulombe of Goffstown; three brothers, Richard Coulombe of Georgia, Roland Coulombe of New Jersey and Edward Coulombe of Goffstown; a sister, Suzanne Bailey of Goffstown; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at French & Rising Funeral Home, 17 S. Mast St., Goffstown. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Lawrence Church.
Interment will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Manchester.
Donations may be made to an educational scholarship at Goffstown High School to be established in his memory, c/o Bank of New Hampshire, 3 Elm St., Goffstown 03045.

Winston L. Persons, LACONIA

Monday, November 1, 1999

LACONIA - Winston L. Persons, 75, of Wildwood Road died at his home Thursday.

Persons was born in Calais, Vt., the son of Van and Ida (Gray) Persons. He lived in Laconia most of his life.

Persons served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a lifetime member of the Laconia Elks Lodge No. 876.

Survivors include his wife, Beryl (Isham) Persons; two sons, Rickey Persons and Kerry Persons of Massachusetts; a daughter, Kelly Persons of Winston-Salem, N.C.; two brothers, Roger Persons of Laconia and Richard Persons of Gilford; a sister, Elaine Swanson of Williamsburg, Va.; three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

The Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Health & Hospice, 780 N. Main St., Laconia 03246.

Jean Sanders, WEBSTER

Monday, November 1, 1999

WEBSTER - Jean Sanders, 87, died Friday at her White Plains Road residence.

She was born in Concord, the daughter of Percy and Elizabeth (Stevens) Sanders. She was a graduate of Concord High School. Upon completion of nursing school, she worked for several years as a registered nurse.

She is survived by two sisters, Charlotte Goldthwait of New London and Nancy Elizabeth Reed of Glastonbury, Conn.; as well as several nieces and nephews. Sanders was predeceased by a brother, John Sanders, and a sister, Dr. Ursula Sanders.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. The Bennett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Nelson Sylvestre Jr., FRANKLIN

Sunday, October 31, 1999

FRANKLIN - Nelson "Sonny" E. Sylvestre Jr., 68, of Colby Avenue, died Friday at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.

He was born in Franklin, the son of Nelson and Yvonne (Nault) Sylvestre. He was a lifelong resident of Franklin.

He had served in the National Guard and in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was stationed in France, where he met his wife.

He worked as a mechanic for Benson Auto in Franklin for 19 years and later worked at Webster Valve before retiring. He was an umpire and coach for the Franklin Little League. He was a communicant at St. Paul's Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Donald Sylvester Sr. and James Sylvestre.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Michelle (Bonnefoy) Sylvestre of Franklin; two sons, Marcel Sylvestre of Sanbornton and Anthony Sylvestre of Franklin; two daughters, Jane LaValley of Franklin and Gina Schroder of Tilton; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; three brothers, Kenneth Sylvestre of Franklin, Peter Sylvester of Belmont and Victor "Fred" Sylvester of Laconia; a sister, Elaine Wallace of Bristol; and nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours are tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Thibault-Neun Funeral Home in Franklin. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 10 at St. Paul's Church. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Roland. E. Carlstrand

Roland E. Carlstrand, 76, of Concord and formerly of Belmont, Mass., died Thursday at Pleasant View Elder Care.

He was born in Boston, the Son of Folke and Signe (Lindgren) Carlstrand. He attended Belmont schools, graduating from Belmont High School in 1940.

He was a graduate of Northeastern University and Franklin Technical Institute.

He was formerly employed by Security Steel Co. of Tewksbury, Mass., where he was a vice-president and general manager. Since moving to Concord, he was employed at the B.A. Roy Steel Manufacturers of Manchester as a structural steel estimator and engineer.

He was a former member of Faith Lutheran Church of Cambridge, Mass.

He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 21 of Concord.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Barbara (Rockwell) Carlstrand; two sisters, Lillian Cane of Waltham, Mass., and Eleanor Stanley of Bedford, Mass.; a step-son, Robert Tweddle of Bay Village, Ohio; two step-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Berglund-Williams, O'Brien Funeral Home, 292 Massachusetts Ave., Arlington, Mass. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with burial at the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody, Mass.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association, P.O. Box 1797, Concord 03302.

Berglund-Williams, O'Brien Funeral Home of Arlington, Mass., is in charge of arrangements.

John L. Collins Sr., SANBORNTON

Monday, November 1, 1999

SANBORNTON - John L. Collins Sr., 81, of Sanbornton died Saturday at the Belknap County Nursing Home in Laconia.

He was born in Sanbornton, the son of Louis and Grace (Leavitt) Collins.

He lived most of his life in Sanbornton and had lived at the nursing home since 1997 after moving there from Winnisquam.

He had worked as a machinist at Scott & Williams in Laconia and at Webster Valve in Franklin for many years. He also worked for the New Hampshire Marine Patrol for a number of years.

Collins attended the Second Baptist Church of Sanbornton.

Survivors include a daughter, Jane Pillsbury of Laconia; three sons, John Collins Jr. of Tilton, James Collins of Sanbornton and Jerry Collins of Bay Minette, Alberta; a brother, George Collins of Kensington; four step-daughters, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his second wife, Muriel (Ladieu) Collins, who died in 1983; and by his first wife, Effie (Rollins) Collins, who died in 1963.

Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home today using the carriage house entrance.

Services will be held at the funeral home tomorrow at 10 a.m. The Rev. Robert Fisher, pastor of the Second Baptist Church of Sanbornton, will officiate. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery in Sanbornton.

Memorial donations may be made to the Winnisquam Fire Department, P.O. Box 192, Winnisquam 03289-0192.
