Joan M. Parker, 65, of Mountain Road in Concord, died Wednesday at Concord Hospital.
She was born in Boston, the daughter of George and A. Gertrude (Smith) Smith.
She worked as an administrative assistant for the dean's office at the Franklin Pierce Law School in Concord.
She was a member of the Seacoast Book Club and the MAIC Investment Club, where she was an associate director of the Granite State chapter. She also volunteered for the Friends Program in Concord and for several Democratic Party campaigns in New Hampshire.
She enjoyed politics, gardening, traveling, camping and spending time with her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Parker, in 1997, and a brother, Eric Smith.
Survivors include two sons, Stephen Parker of Austin, Texas, and Douglas Parker of Pembroke; two daughters, Lynne Parker and Beth Parker, both of Concord; six grandchildren; a brother, David Smith of Marshfield, Mass.; a sister, Gloria Corbett of Shelburne, Nova Scotia, Canada; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Concord.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's School, Pleasant Street, Concord. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Concord.
A reception will follow at the family home, 283 Mountain Road, Concord.
Memorial donations may be made to the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, 1 Medical Center Drive, Lebanon 03756.

Dorothy Fletcher, GILFORD
Saturday, August 12, 2000
GILFORD - Dorothy B. Clow Fletcher, 85, of Old Lake Shore Road, died yesterday at the Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia.
She was born in Wolfeboro, the daughter of Victor and Margaret (Casey) Blaisdell. She had lived in Gilford for the past 10 years, previously living in Belmont.
She was a cosmetologist at Osco Drug in Gilford and had owned and operated Clow's Dog House in Belmont.
She was an active member of the St. James Episcopal Church in Laconia.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Lee Clow, in 1986; her second husband, Allen Fletcher, in 1996; and a daughter, Linda Pelkey, in 1993.
Survivors include three daughters, Niki Sorell of Meredith, Terry Pelchat of White River Junction, Vt., and Sonja Dockham of Lakeport; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
There are no calling hours.
Graveside services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the Bayside Cemetery in Laconia. The Rev. Jonathan MacKenzie, rector of St. James Episcopal Church, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Community Health & Hospice, 780 N. Main St., Laconia 03246.

Helen M. Fox, LACONIA
Saturday, August 12, 2000
LACONIA - Helen M. (Ryan) Fox, of Woodland Avenue, died yesterday at the Lakes Region General Hospital.
She was born in Limerick, Ireland, the daughter of Patrick and Jane (Heffernan) Ryan. She lived in New Haven, Conn., for several years before moving to Laconia 50 years ago.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Laconia.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Brady of Gilford; a grandson; a brother, Thomas Ryan of Hamden, Conn.; a sister, Nora Ryan of Cheshire, Conn.; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church St., Laconia. The Rev. Gary Kosmowski, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow at the family lot at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Laconia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Gail Singer Memorial Building, 360 State Route 101, Bedford 03110-5032, or to the charity of one's choice.

Sally A. Small, PITTSFIELD
Sunday, August 13, 2000
PITTSFIELD - Sally A. Small, 43, died Friday at Concord Hospital following a lifelong illness.
She was born in Concord, the daughter of John and Rita (Boisvert) Small.
She was a member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Pittsfield, the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Unit No. 2, and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 88.
Survivors include her parents, both of Pittsfield; a brother, William Small of Pembroke; and a niece and nephew, Andrea and Mike Delgado of Pembroke.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Perkins Funeral Home, 60 Main St., Pittsfield.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Pittsfield. The Rev. Delaire, pastor, will officiate.
Burial will be held at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Pittsfield.
The Perkins Funeral Home of Pittsfield is in charge of arrangements.

Helen Hatch
Sunday, August 13, 2000
Helen (Shaw) Hatch, 101, of Pleasant Street in Concord, died Thursday at the Pleasant View Center.
She was born in Franklin, the daughter of Herman and Carrie (Jackson) Shaw. A former Franklin resident, she had also lived in Dover.
She attended public schools in Franklin and Dorchester, Mass. She graduated from Wellesley College in 1920 and the Hartford Theological Seminary in 1924.
She taught English in Newburyport, Mass., for one year.
She enjoyed family life, spending time with her children and grandchildren, the piano, tennis, camping, rural life, gardening, church activities, teaching and youth guidance. She was also an avid reader, studying biographies, history, historical novels, poetry, philosophy and religion.
She was predeceased by her husband, the Rev. David Hatch; and two sons, David Hatch in 1928 and John Hatch in 1965.
Survivors include a son, Robert Hatch of Kennebunk, Maine; two daughters, Dorothy Davis of Nashville, Tenn., and Sylvia Mealand of Concord; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
There are no calling hours.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Riverdale Cemetery in Danbury. The Rev. Deborah Knowlton will officiate. A memorial service will follow at noon at the Congregational Christian Church, South Main Street, Franklin.
A reception will follow at Thompson Hall.
Memorial donations may be made to the Congregational Christian Church, South Main Street, Franklin 03235.
The H.L. Young Memorial Home of Franklin is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy H. Franklin, MEDFORD, Mass.

MEDFORD, Mass. - Dorothy H. (Winchester) Franklin, 93, died Wednesday.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Franklin; a son, Robert Franklin; and a sister, Maude Franklin.
Survivors include two daughters, Sue Noel of Medford, Mass., and Helen McGlashan of Concord; three sisters, Sue Winchester, Ada Winchester and Hilda Winchester; two brothers, George Winchester and Robert Winchester; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held tomorrow at 1 p.m. at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford, Mass.
Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, 34 Oakland St., Medford, Mass., 02155.
The Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home of Medford, Mass., is in charge of arrangements.

David A. Brothers

David A. Brothers, 50, of Maitland Street in Concord, died Friday after an illness.
He was born in Marlboro, Mass., the son of Harold and Alice Brothers. He lived in Clinton, Mass., prior to moving to New Hampshire.
He attended Hudson, Mass., high schools and graduated from Clinton (Mass.) High School in 1967.
He worked at the Colonial Press in Clinton for 10 years, later working at Monroe Wire and Cable of Lancaster, Mass.. He worked at Global Plastics of Leominster, Mass., for five years before retiring due to illness.
He enjoyed working on cars.
Survivors include his mother, Alice (Saunders) Knight of Clinton, Mass.; his wife, Darlene (Caron) Brothers of Plymouth; a daughter, Mary Brothers of Plymouth; two sons, David Brothers of Raines, S.C., and William Brothers of Florence, S.C.; four brothers, John Brothers of Warwick, R.I., Robert Brothers and Paul Brothers, both of Clinton, Mass., and Michael Knight of Gardner, Mass.; a sister, Margaret Parsons of Port Charlotte, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Robert J. McNally Funeral Home, 304 Church St., Clinton, Mass.
Burial will be held privately.

Marlene C. Sinclair, BENNINGTON

BENNINGTON - Marlene C. Sinclair, 64, died Sunday at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough.
She was born in Keene, the daughter of Warren Sr. and Evelyn (Balch) Craig. She lived in Concord and Peterborough until moving to Bennington in 1986.
She worked as a nurse at the Pheasantwood Nursing Home for 10 years. She also worked at and did private nursing care for the Odd Fellows Home in Concord.
She attended the Union Congregational Church in Peterborough.
She loved animals.
Survivors include her father of Peterborough; two sons, William Sinclair and Richard Sinclair, both of Concord; a sister, Jan Davis of Loudon; a grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Jellison Funeral Home, 25 Concord St., Peterborough.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Polly Shamy, pastor of the Union Congregational Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow the service at the Pine Hill Cemetery in Peterborough.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Monadnock Humane Society, West Swanzey 03469.

William F. Longgood, TRURO, Mass.

TRURO, Mass. - William F. Longgood, 82, died Aug. 9 at his home.
He was born in St. Louis, Mo., the son of William and Grace (Turner) Longgood.
He graduated from the University of Missouri School of Journalism in 1940.
He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a freelance writer who worked as a reporter and feature writer for the New York World Telegram and Sun for 17 years. He also served as a Middle East correspondent for the Scripps-Howard newspapers.
He was a recipient of the Pulitzer Prize.
He worked as a text editor for Time-Life books and taught writing courses at the New School for Social Research and the Columbia University School of Journalism in New York City.
He wrote several books, including The Poisons in Your Food, The Queen Must Die and Other Affairs of Bees and Men and Voices from the Earth - A Year in the Life of the Garden.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Longgood of Truro, Mass.; a son, Bret Longgood of Antrim; and three grandchildren.
A private ceremony will be held at a later date.
The McHoul Funeral Home of Provincetown, Mass., is in charge of arrangements.
