Edward R. Jewell, BOW
Tuesday, September 19, 2000
BOW - Edward R. Jewell, 56, died Saturday at the Concord Hospital.
He was born in Concord, the son of Richard and Lena (Gaudreau) Jewell. He was raised in Claremont and lived in Charlestown before moving to Bow since 1976.
He graduated in 1963 from Stevens High School in Claremont.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the U.S. Marines.
He worked as a human resource manager for United Parcel Service for 30 years, retiring in 1995.
He was a NASCAR enthusiast, a collector and an amateur photographer who enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Susan (Chabot) Jewell of Bow; a son, Edward Jewell Jr. of Contoocook; two daughters, Odeanna Call of Concord and Marissa Jewell of Bow; three granddaughters; two sisters, Carol Lymer of Unity and Linda Labaire of East Brookfield, Mass.; and nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad St., Claremont.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated tomorrow at 11 a.m. in St. Mary Church in Claremont. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Hampshire, 66 Hanover St., Suite No. 101, Manchester 03101-2230.

Michael R. McAulay
Thursday, September 21, 2000
Michael R. McAulay, 45, of Concord, died Tuesday at Concord Hospital.
He was born in Concord, the son of Paul and Grace (Foote) McAulay.
He was a graduate of Concord High School and the University of New Hampshire.
He worked as a personnel administrator for the state of New Hampshire for 20 years.
He was predeceased by a sister, Pamela Martin, who died in 1999.
Survivors include a daughter, Kaitlyn McAulay of Penacook; a son, Sean McAulay of Penacook; a nephew; an aunt, uncle and cousins.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Concord.

Warren H. Stearns, PENACOOK
Thursday, September 21, 2000
PENACOOK - Warren H. Stearns, 76, died Wednesday at Hospice House in Concord.
He was born in Boston, the son of Charles and Nellie (Blackman) Stearns.
He served with the U.S. Army Engineers during World War II.
He worked for Monarch Foods in Chelsea, Mass., before retiring in 1979.
He was predeceased by a son, Robert Stearns, who died in 1993.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Agnes (McGowan) Stearns of Penacook; three sons, Warren Stearns of Malden, Mass., John Stearns of York, Maine, and William Stearns of Medford, Mass.; a daughter, Diane Palmacci of Penacook; 10 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a sister, Nellie Farr.
Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Concord.
Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Blossom Hill Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the CRVNA Hospice House, P.O. Box 1797, Concord 03302-1797.

Raymond G. Lumbra, BELMONT
Friday, September 22, 2000
BELMONT - Raymond G. Lumbra, 75, of Ladd Hill Road, died Wednesday at his residence after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Montgomery Center, Vt., the son of Wallace and Dora (Domina) Lumbra.
He had been a Belmont resident most of his life.
He was a 1945 graduate of North Troy High School in North Troy, Vt.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 1670 of Laconia and of the Laconia Lodge of Elks No. 876.
He worked for 23 years as an equipment superintendent for Pike Industries, where he retired in 1990. Prior to that he worked for Cantin Chevrolet.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Laconia.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Lawrence and Robert Lumbra.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Rita (Hueber) Lumbra of Belmont; two brothers, Morris Lumbra of Lakeport, and Roger Lumbra of Laconia; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Simoneau & Lambert Funeral Home, 139 Church St., Laconia.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated tomorrow at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Donations may be made to Community Health and Hospice, 780 N. Main St., Laconia 03247.

Rita Helen Renfors, BOSCAWEN
Sunday, September 24, 2000
BOSCAWEN - Rita Helen Renfors, 83, died Thursday at home.
She was born in Concord, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Dutile) Trepanier. She lived in the Penacook-Boscawen area all of her life.
She co-owned and co-managed the Renfors Poultry Farm on Borough Road in Penacook for many years.
She later worked at the State House cafeteria for about four years before her retirement.
She was predeceased by her husband Reima Renfors in 1972.
Survivors include two sons, Roger Renfors of Valparaiso, Ind. and David Renfors of Salisbury; two sisters, Cecilia Raymond and Lillian Barton, both of Manchester; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours.
Graveside services will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m. at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Penacook. After the services, friends and relatives are invited back to her home at 43 Daniel Webster Highway.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Program, Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association, 250 Pleasant St., Concord, 03301-0797.
The Wendell J. Butt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

John A. Lawrence, WEARE
Sunday, September 24, 2000
WEARE - John Alan Lawrence, 42, died Friday at Concord Hospital after a sudden illness.
He was born in Michigan City, Ind., the son of Harold and Yvonne (Moquin) Lawrence. He grew up in Cavendish, Vt., and was an Eagle Scout, a graduate of Green Mountain Union High School in Chester, Vt.
He and his wife, Marianne (Alberico) have lived in Weare for the past seven years. They had lived in Henley on Thames, England, where he worked for the Digital Equipment Company. He was employed as a software engineer with Tecnomatics Unicam of Portsmouth.
He was a woodworker and enjoyed building boats. He liked working with draft horses and farming and was an avid game player. He belonged to the Local Order of Moose in Rutland, Vt.
Survivors include his wife; his mother; two sons, Kelvin Lawrence and Benjamin Lawrence, both of Weare; one sister, Pamela Lundberg, of Cavendish, Vt.; many nieces and nephews; and cousins.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Merrimack St., Manchester 03101.
Calling hours will be tomorrow from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the French and Rising Funeral Home at 17 S. Mast St. in Goffstown. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at 3 p.m. at the Village Cemetery in Cavendish, Vt. A reception will be held in Cavendish after the committal.

Yvette E. Viger, BERLIN
Sunday, September 24, 2000
BERLIN - Yvette E. (Ruel) Viger, 69, of Second Avenue, died Friday at home.
She was born in Berlin, the daughter of Joseph and Laura (Lebreton) Ruel, and was a lifelong resident.
She graduated from Berlin High School. She worked at the Catholic Education Office and Gills Flowers. She belonged to St. Kieran Church and was involved in many parish groups and activities.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Viger, in 1994.
Survivors include a daughter, Laura Lee Viger, of Berlin; two sons, Joseph Viger of Conway, and Richard Viger of Concord; a grandson, Richard Viger, of Concord; two sisters, Irene Beaulac of Berlin and Julie Pare of Canaan; a brother, Emery ruel; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Bryant Funeral Home in Berlin.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 9 a.m. at St. Kieran Church. Interment will be at a later date in St. Kieran Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Merrimack St., Suite 1, Manchester 03101-2244.

Jean F. Hardy
Friday, September 22, 2000
Jean F. Hardy, 85, of Christian Avenue, died Tuesday at Concord Hospital.
She was born in Concord, the daughter of John and Isabelle (Gillon) Flagg.
She was employed by the state of New Hampshire and served as the Loudon tax collector in the early 1960s.
She and her husband ran the Hardy Brothers Apple Orchard in the 1940s and Loudon's first bed and breakfast, "Hardy's Guest House."
She was a member of the Loudon Congregational Church, where she sang in the choir.
She was a member of the Ladies Guild; the Loudon Historical Society; and the Concordettes Female Singers.
She was named "Citizen of the Year" at the 1994 Loudon Old Home Day celebration.
Survivors include two sons, Al "Sandy" Hardy of Concord, and Jeffrey Hardy of Loudon; a sister, Isabelle Bayley of Tilton; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Albert Hardy; two sons, Douglas Hardy and Curtis Hardy; two brothers, John Flagg and Norman Flagg; and a sister, Barbara Henba.
Calling hours will be today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bennett Funeral Home Chapel, 3 Church St., Concord.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. at the Loudon Congregational Church. The Rev. Dave Randlett will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Marion A. Kochol, BELMONT
Friday, September 22, 2000
BELMONT - Marion A. "Notch" Kochol, 64, of Spruce Drive, died Wednesday at Lakes Region General Hospital.
He was born in Baltimore, Md., the son of George and Jennie (Fronckowski) Kochol and married in Baltimore in 1964.
He worked at Sanel Auto Parts for many years in both Concord and Laconia.
He was a member of the Elks Club Lodge No. 1210 of Concord. He enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting and building model boats.
In addition to his father of Maryland, he is survived by his wife, Joyce Kochol of Belmont; two step daughters, Darlene Jacobs of Georgia and Patricia Auprey of Penacook; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Dresner, Georgette Browning and Estelle Landes, all of Maryland; and several nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours.
An informal gathering to celebrate his life is planned for Saturday, Sept. 30, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Pat and Bonnie Caporello's home, 117 Borough Road, Penacook.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 9 Cedarwood Drive, Unit 12, Bedford 03110 or to the Community Health and Hospice, c/o the Visiting Nurses Association, 280 N. Main St., Laconia 03247.
Affordable Funeral and Cremation Services is in charge of the arrangements.
