Walter H. Poole, 50, of Concord, died Nov. 24 at the Hope House in Concord after a long illness. Memorial services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Community Bridges, 525 Clinton St., Bow.

Nancy Smith, MEREDITH

MEREDITH - Nancy Smith, 74, died Saturday at Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia after a short illness. She was born in Ludlow, Mass., the daughter of Plenny and Grace (Bartlett) Averill. She attended public schools of Springfield, Mass., and graduated from Classical High School. She was an artist whose work is displayed in the Old Print Barn in Meredith. She was a member of the Friends of the Governor Wentworth State Historic Site, where she designed the coat of arms. She raised and bred Russian wolfhounds. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Thomas Smith of Meredith; a son, Craig Smith of Annapolis, Md.; two grandsons; and two nephews. A brother, Robert Averill, died previously. Calling hours will not be held. Graveside services will be held in the spring in Island Pond Cemetery in Ludlow, Mass. Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, Laconia, is in charge of the arrangements.

Webster P. Campbell, MANCHESTER

MANCHESTER - Webster P. Campbell, 76, of Manchester, died Thursday at a local health care facility. He was born in Manchester, the son of James and Louise (Heitzler) Campbell, and graduated from Manchester Central High School in 1943. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 and was a World War II veteran. After the war, he graduated from Saint Anselm College with a degree in history. He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 20 years, retiring in 1985. He was a communicant of Grace Episcopal Church in Manchester. He was a member of the American Legion Henry J. Sweeney Post No. 2 in Manchester. He was an avid Red Sox and Bruins fan. Survivors include a daughter, Lori Capron of Allenstown; two sons, Paul Campbell of Derry and Gary Campbell of Concord; two sisters, Dorothy Heroux and Colinette Campbell, both of Manchester; a brother, Colin Campbell of Albany, N.Y.; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews and cousins. His wife, Georgia (Estey) Campbell, died in 1997. Calling hours will not be held. A funeral service will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Goodwin Funeral Home, 607 Chestnut St., Manchester. The Rev. Alan MacKillup will officiate. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Manchester. Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Henry J. Sweeney Post No. 2 of Manchester. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 360 Route 101, Bedford 03110.

DEERFIELD - Tanya L. Boutwell, 43, of Nottingham Road, died Friday as a result of an automobile accident. She was born in North Carolina, the daughter of Donald and Eleanor Dent. She lived in Raymond and Epping before moving to Deerfield five years ago. She was a graduate of Groton-Dunstable (Mass.) High School. She worked for Millbrook Distributors as a salesperson. She enjoyed gourmet cooking and gardening. She was a Brownie Leader for Girl Scouts. Survivors include her parents; her husband, Douglas Boutwell; a son, Tyler Boutwell of Deerfield; two daughters, Danielle Stickney of Laconia and Colby Boutwell of Deerfield; a brother, Shawn Dent of Amesbury, Mass.; a sister, Dorynda Auth of Pepperill, Mass.; a grandchild; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial reception will be held Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Maiden-Petrin Funeral Home, Junctions of routes 27 and 43, Candia. Urn burial will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Old Centre Cemetery, Deerfield. The Rev. David Runion-Bareford will officiate.

Arthur F. Valley Jr., BRADFORD

BRADFORD - Arthur F. "Artie" Valley Jr., 60, died Wednesday at his home. He was born at the New London Hospital, the son of Arthur and Marjorie (Simpson) Valley. He lived most of his life in Bradford. He was the owner and operator of Valley Plumbing and Heating for about 25 years. Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Brennan of Portsmouth; two sons, Ted Valley of Bradford and Brian Valley of Newport; a sister, Beverly Chandler of Warner; grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Monday from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Chadwick Funeral Home, 174 Main St., New London. Services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunny Plain Cemetery in Bradford.

Howard M. Hook, BOSCAWEN

BOSCAWEN - Howard M. Hook, 75, of Oxbow Mobile Home Park, died Monday at his home. He was born in Stamford, Conn., the son of Frank and Gladys Hook. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a radio technician for the New Hampshire State Police for more than 20 years. Years ago, he owned a radio and television repair shop in Contoocook and also worked for Evan's Radio in Bow. He was a member of the American Legion. Survivors include two sons, John Hook and Don Hook, both of Webster; a daughter, June Pecce of Londonderry; two brothers, Robert Hook of Connecticut and Frederick Hook of Georgia; his former wife, Sylvia Hook of Webster, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Two sisters, Alice Whitman and Nancy Hook, died previously. There are no calling hours. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Affordable Funeral and Cremation Services Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

Francis E. Serafin

Francis E. Serafin, 85, of Pinkham B Road in Randolph died Wednesday at the New Hampshire Odd Fellows Home in Concord. He was born in Hartford, Conn., the son of Joseph and Josephine Serafin. He has been a resident of Randolph for 55 years. He worked for the Boston & Maine Railroad and was later employed by the Brown Company and the James River Company as a foreman. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a life member and past commander of the Dupont-Holmes American Legion Post No. 82 in Gorham. He volunteered with the local Cub Scout troop and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include a son, Gene Serafin of Pembroke; three daughters, Rosemarie Mulligan of Sebastian, Fla., Virginia Mattson of Keene and Gail Rayno of Concord; a brother, Joseph Serafin of New Britain, Conn.; a sister, Frances Hebron of Manchester; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His wife, Virginia Serafin; a son, Francis Serafin; and a daughter, Beverly Serafin, died previously. There are no calling hours. A memorial Mass will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, Allenstown, with the Rev. Wilfred Deschamps officiating. Burial will take place in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, Memorial Giving Program, Gail Singer Memorial Building, 360 Route 101, Unit 8, Bedford 03110-5032. The Petit Funeral Home, Pembroke, is in charge of arrangements.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Louis Crosby Wyman, 85, died May 5 at his home in West Palm Beach, Fla. He was a former congressman and superior court judge. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Brookside Congregational Church, 2013 Elm St., Manchester. The family has requested that donations may be made in his memory to Palm Beach County Hospice, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, Fla. 33407. McHugh Funeral Home, Manchester, is handling the arrangements.

Josephine Colombini, MEREDITH

MEREDITH - Josephine C. Colombini, 88, of Red Gate Lane in Meredith, died Friday at Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia. She was born in New York City, the daughter of Joseph and Nancy (Tarantino) Poplees. She was educated in the New York City school system. Colombini lived in New York City until moving to Meredith nine years ago. She was a communicant of St. Charles Church in Meredith. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Colombine of Center Harbor; three grandchildren, Becky Thurrell, Kristy Colombine and Caitlin Thurrell, all of Center Harbor; and many nieces and nephews. Her husband, Charles Colombini, died in 1979. Calling hours will not be held. Services will be private. The Dewhurst Funeral Home, 1061 Union Ave., Laconia, is in charge of arrangement.

Norman G. O'Neil, LACONIA

LACONIA - Norman G. O'Neil, 82, of Ledges Drive and formerly of Kinsman Drive, died Sunday at the Congregate Living Center. He was born in Lynn, Mass., the son of George and Marie-Anne (Normandin) O' Neil. He graduated from Lynn Classical High School, from Tufts University in Medford, Mass., and from Bentley College's graduate program in accounting. He lived in North Reading, Mass., before moving to Laconia in 1988. He spent summers in Sanbornton for most of his life. He was a district engineer supervisor for Bethlehem Steel for many years and was involved in the construction of the Seabrook nuclear power plant and the Tobin Bridge in Boston. He was a former member of several professional organizations. He also served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He enjoyed golfing and gardening and was involved with the Lakes Region Sled Dog Club for many years. His wife, Helen (Riedl) O'Neil, died in 1988. A brother, A. Gerard O'Neil Sr.; a sister, Marguerite O'Neil; and an aunt, Alice Normandin, died previously. Survivors include a sister, A.M. Rita Gage of Laconia; 10 nephews and nieces; and several grandnephews and grandnieces. Calling hours will be held at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia, tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m., using the Carriage House entrance. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church St., Laconia, on Thursday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Gary Kosmowski, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery in Tilton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to LRGHealthcare's Lakes Region Adult Day Care, Alzheimer's Care, 17 Church St., Laconia 03246.

Irene M. Limoges, CLAREMONT

CLAREMONT - Irene M. Limoges, 91, of Mulberry Street died Thursday at the Sullivan County Nursing Home. She was born in Claremont, the daughter of Wilfred and Sephora (Dubois) Lambert. She was a lifelong resident of Claremont. Limoges was a graduate of St. Mary School. She was co-owner of Limoges Oil Company on Main Street, which she and her husband founded in 1947. She was a member of Court Virgil H. Barber No. 892 Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the St. Anne Society and the Companion of the Forresters. Survivors include four sons, Raymond Limoges of Bow, Norman Limoges of Leicester, Mass., and Donald Limoges and Richard Limoges, both of Claremont; a daughter, Pauline Veayo of Wells, Maine; a sister, Laurette Desilets of Wells, Maine; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and nieces and nephews. Her husband of 55 years, William Limoges, died in 1986; four brothers, Arthur Lambert, George Lambert, Emile Lambert and Roger Lambert, and three sisters, Simone Lambert, Cecelia Targ and Margaret Lavalle, also died previously. Calling hours will be held today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad St., Claremont. The Rev. Shawn Therrien, pastor of St. Mary Church, and members of the St. Anne Society and the Catholic Daughters will hold a prayer service at the funeral home today at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. in St. Mary Church. Therrien will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary School, 18 Central St., Claremont 03743.

Alberta A. Knowles, DERRY

DERRY - Alberta A. Knowles, 66, of Pine Isle Drive, died Friday at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Mass. She was born in Boston, the daughter of Albert and Helen (Welch) Morrison. She lived in Somerville, Mass., before moving to Derry in 1970. Knowles was a graduate of Bunker Hill Community College in Boston. She was the owner and operator of the Bookkeeper of Concord. She was an avid reader and wrote a book about herself for her family. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing and knitting. Survivors include her husband, James Knowles of Derry; a son, John Baird of Massachusetts; a daughter, Lynn Ball of Londonderry; three brothers, Donald Morrison of Florida, Kent Morrison of Cambridge, Mass., and John Morrison of Lexington, Mass.; five sisters, Dorothy Smith of Alfred, Maine, Shirley Morrison of Marlborough, Mass., Katherine MacDonald of Medford, Mass., Barbara Lawrence of South Weymouth, Mass., and Donna Morrison of Malden, Mass.; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be held at a later date at the Forest Hill Cemetery in East Derry. Richard John Fulton, TROUTDALE, Ore.

TROUTDALE, Ore. - Richard John Fulton, 57, died Sept. 6. He was born in Concord, the son of John and Hilda Fulton. He graduated from Pembroke Academy in 1963 and attended the University of New Hampshire. Fulton was raised in Epsom and lived in the Portland, Ore., area since 1972. He served with the Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked as a machinist, recently working for Nabisco. He loved machining, fabricating and motorcycle riding. Survivors include his father of Concord; his wife of 23 years, Dianne; four sons Eric Fulton, John Fulton, Kevin Fulton and Carl Fulton; two stepsons, Dennis Gleason and Wayne Gleason; a stepdaughter, Laura Jackson; a brother, R. James Fulton of Trumbull, Conn.; two sisters, Susan Murphy of Bradford and Edith Nelson of Limerick, Maine; 13 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Burial was held in Willamette National Veteran's Cemetery in Portland, Ore.

James A. Gatherum, PENACOOK

PENACOOK - James Allan Gatherum, 83, died Sunday at Pleasant View Center in Concord. He was born in Concord, the son of John and Mary (Larochelle) Gatherum. He served in the Army during World War II in North Africa, Sicily and Italy. He was formerly of East Concord and the Whittaker Place in Penacook. Gatherum worked as a salesman for Sanel Auto Parts, retiring in 1982. He was a private pilot. He was a 50-year member of Blazing Star Masonic Lodge and a 32nd degree Mason; member of the Scottish Rite, Bektash Temple Shrine and Sunset Outdoor Club; life member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1631 in Concord, the DAV and the National Rifle Association; and was the New Hampshire State Outdoor Pistol champion in 1961 and 1971. Survivors include two sons, Thomas Gatherum of Penacook and John Gatherum of Dracut, Mass.; a sister, Jean Donovan of Concord; five grandchildren; and two great-grandsons. His wife, Marjorie (Bates) Gatherum, died in 2000; and a sister, Elizabeth Ascough, died in 1994. Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Concord. A Memorial Masonic service will follow at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Blossom Hill Cemetery in Concord. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shrine Burns Institute, c/o Bektash Temple, P.O. Box 7252, Concord 03302-7252.
