Frances Adria Brown, 94, formerly of Auburndale, Mass., died Friday at the Havenwood Nursing Home in Concord. She was born in Yonkers, N.Y., the daughter of Dr. John Holmes and Madeline (Baker) Holmes. She spent most of her married life in Newton, Mass., and she was a member of the Newton Highlands Congregational Church, where she worked as a secretary for many years. She loved the ocean and the outdoors. She also was an avid Boston sports fan and loved reading. She was known among her acquaintances, friends and family for her thoughtfulness and loyalty. Adventuresome and youthful in outlook even into her elder years, she loved her children and grandchildren and participated in activities with them at every opportunity. Survivors include a son, David Brown of Amherst; a daughter, Alison Grinder of Scottsdale, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Morris Brown, died in 1970; and her brother, Dr. Roger Holmes, also died previously. There will be no calling hours. Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Havenwood-Heritage Heights Endowment Fund, 33 Christian Ave., Concord 03301. The Bennett Funeral Home in Concord is in charge of arrangements.

Kenneth G. Reade, WEARE

WEARE - Kenneth G. Reade, 78, died Saturday at Concord Hospital. He was born in Weare, the son of George and Alice (Gunn) Reade. He was a lifelong resident of Weare. He did woodworking for the Kendell Company in Goffstown for many years before his retirement. Survivors include a sister, Isabel Duxbury of Merrimack; and a brother, Charles Reade of Weare. There will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held in spring in Pine Grove Cemetery in Weare. Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home in Henniker is in charge of the arrangements.

Timothy M. Casey, NASHUA

NASHUA - Timothy M. Casey, 83, died yesterday at home. He was born in Concord, the son of Timothy and Laura (LaPlante) Casey. He was graduated from Concord High School in 1937. He attended Danville Military Academy in Danville, Va. He received his college education from Duke University. Casey served in the Navy as a pilot during World War II and received the Distinguished Flying Cross. He served on the USS Suwannee Aircraft Carrier CVE-27 flight group. Casey worked for the U.S. Department of Justice as a special agent for the FBI, retiring in 1976. He was a member of the North New England chapter of the retired FBI Special Agents, American Legion Post No. 1 in Memphis, Tenn., honorary member of the New Hampshire Chiefs of Police, and the Coos County and Grafton County Law Enforcement Associations. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Margaret Casey; a daughter, Kathleen Casey of Nashua; a son, James Casey of Merrimack; and one grandson. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Waters Funeral Home, 50 South Main St. in Concord. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 72 South Main St. in Concord. Burial will be held on April 27 at 10 a.m. in the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. Donations may be made to the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery Association Inc., P.O. Box 626, Concord 03302-0626, or to Home Health & Hospice Care, 22 Prospect St., Nashua 03060.

Lester L. Douillette, SUNCOOK

SUNCOOK - Lester L. Douillette, 62, died suddenly on Saturday at Concord Hospital. He was born in Suncook, the son of David and Ernestine (LaCaire) Douillette. A longtime resident of the Concord area, Les, as his family and friends knew him, worked in construction. Survivors include four brothers, Bruce Douillette of Suncook, William Douillette of Concord, Charles Douillette of Massachusetts, and Roger Douillette of Pittsfield; and two sisters, Irene Garceau of Concord and Jean Lacaillaide of Missouri. There will be no calling hours or services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Merrimack St., Suite 1, Manchester 03103.

Penelope Gardner, HOPKINTON

HOPKINTON - Penelope Gardner, 75, died Sunday at the Hospice House in Concord. She was born in Hanover, the daughter of Harold and Louise Owen. She was raised in Hopkinton. She attended Concord High School, Smith College and the Traphagen School of Design in New York City. Gardner worked as a theatrical costumer for many years and worked for the Brattle Theatre in Cambridge, Mass., the Boston Ballet, Opera Company of Boston and more. She owned and operated Costumes by Penelope in Concord for many years. She was a trained proofreader and copy editor and worked for the Concord Monitor, for Bridge and Byron Printers, and Evans Printing Company, all of Concord, and Harbridge House in Boston. She was active with the Concord Community Players, the St. Paul's School Ballet Company and other local organizations. She co-founded an alternative school, the Community School of New Hampshire, in her Concord home in the mid-1970s. Survivors include two sons, Kevin Gardner and Chris Gardner, both of Hopkinton; a daughter, Rosemary Whittemore of Saxton's River, Vt.; two brothers, Derek Owen of Hopkinton and Harold Owen Jr. of Camden, Maine; a sister, Megan Yost of Bridgeport, Conn.; four granddaughters; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A son, Timothy, died in 1986. Memorial service will be held in the spring. Boutwell and Hussey-Wiren Funeral Home in Concord is in charge of the arrangements.

Robert K. Dougal, HOLLYWOOD, Fla.

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. - Robert Kirker Dougal, 94, formerly of Concord, died March 20 in Hollywood, Fla. He was born in Somerville, Mass., the son of James and Ethel (Kirker) Dougal. He graduated from Concord High School in 1927. Dougal was formerly of Manchester, Wolfeboro, New Durham and the Weirs, and he moved to Plantation, Fla., in 1955. He worked in many boatyards on Lake Winnipesaukee and later at Chris-Craft Headquarters in Pompano Beach, Fla., before retiring in 1974. He was a true wooden boat man. His brother, James Dougal, died in 1980 Survivors include two nephews, Richard Dougal of Gilford and Donald MacDougall of Center Sandwich; and a niece, Deborah Lewis of Northfield. Memorial donations may be made to the New Hampshire Antique and Class Boat Museum, 397 Center St., Wolfeboro 03894.

Freda K. Thompson

Freda K. Thompson, 68, of Concord died Friday at Concord Hospital. She was born in Littleton, the daughter of Zenus and Gertrude (Wilson) Thompson. She graduated from Concord High School in 1953. She served as a tech sergeant in the Air Force, retiring in 1974. Thompson was a member of the American Legion, the AMVETS, the Air Force Sergeants Association and the D.A.V. She was a 21-year member of the Concord Contemporary Club. She enjoyed traveling, reading and gardening. Survivors include three brothers, Raymond Thompson of Concord, Frederick Thompson of Phoenix and Richard Thompson of Ipswich, Mass.; a sister, Helen Jenkins of Brewer, Maine; and nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held April 12 at 1 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Concord. The Rev. Henry Frost will officiate. Burial will follow at Blossom Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Memorial Giving Program, 360 Route 101, Unit 8, Bedford 03110-5032.

Dorothy M. Hanson, 57, of Branch Turnpike Road died Tuesday at Concord Hospital after a long illness. She was born in Concord, the daughter of Wilbur and Doris (Morin) Cate Sr. She graduated from Concord High School. Hanson worked in the automotive division at Concord Group Insurance for more than 35 years. Survivors include her father of Andover; her husband of 37 years, David Hanson Sr. of Concord; a son, David Hanson Jr. of Concord; a brother, Wilbur Cate Jr. of Boscawen; two sisters, Mary Lou Cate and Nancy Cherrette, both of Concord; a granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Waters Funeral Home, 50 S. Main St., Concord. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated tomorrow at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 180 Loudon Road, Concord. Burial will follow at Blossom Hill Cemetery. Muriel S. Littlefield, 95, of Concord, died Friday at Havenwood Nursing Home in Concord. She was born in Brentwood, the daughter of John and E. Christine (Currier) Swazey. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1928, where she was a member of the Folk Club and of the honorary societies of Phi Kappa Phi, Lambda Phi and Delta Chi. Littlefield was a longtime resident of Heritage Heights in Concord. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She loved crafts and sewing, walking, gardening and the outdoors. Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Penniman of Hampton and Donna Nelson of Shingle Springs, Calif.; three brothers, Joseph Swazey of Brentwood, Robert Swazey of Exeter and John Swazey Jr. of Newton Junction; two sisters, Lucille Haynes of Concord and Rachel Rosencrantz of Exeter; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Her husband, Ralph Littlefield, died in 1978; and three sisters, Dorothy Gifford, Florence Flower and Helena Moreland, died previously. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Brentwood Cemetery in West Brentwood. Therese Y. Martel, 78, of Broad Avenue in Concord, died yesterday at the Hospice House in Concord. She was the daughter of Charles and Delvina (Drolet) Lauziere. She graduated from Concord High School in 1942. Martel worked for New England Telephone for 37 years before retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Margaret K. Desmond No. 187, the Carmelite Guild, the Catholic War Veterans Auxiliary of Manchester, the Telephone Pioneers and the Concord Academy Senior Line Dancers. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Andre Martel of Concord; two daughters, Michele Perry of Bow and Donna Sarette of Londonderry; two brothers, Maurice Lauziere of Belmont and Eugene Lauziere of Bend, Ore.; three grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be held today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Waters Funeral Home, 50 S. Main St., Concord. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 52 Pleasant St., Concord. The Rev. Michael Sevigny, pastor, will be celebrant. Burial will follow in Blossom Hill Cemetery in Concord. Susan J. Cloutier

MANCHESTER - Susan J. (Sarette) Cloutier, 56, relative of area residents, died Thursday at Catholic Medical Center after a short illness. She was born in Worcester, Mass., the daughter of Rudolphe and Beatrice (Gelinas) Sarette and was a lifelong resident of Manchester and Goffstown. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and daughter and had a great sense of humor. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and playing games. She is survived by her father of Concord; two sons, Michael Cloutier of Manchester and Keith Cloutier of Contoocook; three daughters, Lisa Winslow of Goffstown, Karin Cloutier of Henniker and Allison Cloutier of Manchester; five grandchildren; three brothers, Kenneth Sarette of Huntsville, Ala., Kerry Sarette of Contoocook and Scott Sarette of Concord; two sisters, Doreen Forcier of Santa Rosa., Calif., and Denise Dunn of Suncook; and many nephews, nieces and cousins. A son, Kevin Cloutier, died in 2000. A memorial gathering will be held Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St., Manchester. A service will follow in the funeral home's chapel. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Doris H. Estabrook

Doris H. Estabrook, 84, died Friday at the Pleasant View Center-Genesis Eldercare. She was born in Concord, the daughter of Herman and Katerine Ward Hazen, and was raised in Sutton. She graduated from the Concord Business School and worked as a bookkeeper for the former Appletree Book Shop in Concord for many years. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Concord and wrote a history of the church. She was also a member of the Mount Washington Observatory, the New Hampshire Historical Society, the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a Cub Scout leader and enjoyed genealogy. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, George Estabrook III of Concord; two sons, George Estabrook IV of Leavenworth, Kan., and Robert Estabrook of Concord; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Kenneth Hazen and Myron Hazen; and two sisters, Ruth Clow and Mildred Bryant, died previously. There are no calling hours. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. at the Wesley United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Blossom Hill cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Wesley United Methodist Church, 79 Clinton St., Concord 03301. The Bennett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
