Ruth Duhaime

ROCHESTER - Ruth F. Duhaime, 82, of 209 Chestnut Hill Road, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at Frisbie Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

Born Feb. 4, 1922, in Rochester, she was the daughter of Fred and Florence (Stanhope) Lyons.

She is a lifelong resident of Rochester. She was employed as an inspector at the Davidson Rubber Co. for 22 years before her retirement. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and gardening.

Members of her family include her husband of 57 years, Edward Duhaime of Rochester; her sons, Fred and Ricky Duhaime; her daughter, Florence Ebare and her companion, Rick Mountain; a grandson, Edward Duhaime and his companion, Heidi Cross; a great-granddaughter, Alexis Duhaime; and nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours.

There will be no funeral services.

Arrangements are under the direction of R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., Rochester, NH 03867.

Reta Littlefield

NORTH BERWICK, Maine - Reta L. Littlefield, 92, died Feb. 7, 2004, in Sanford, Maine.

There will be a time of remembrance with a reception following on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Bethel Christian Church, Lower Main Street, North Berwick, Maine. The Rev. Robert G. Cole, Sr. will officiate.

Arrangements are by Johnson Funeral Home, North Berwick.

Michael Marston

NOTTINGHAM - Michael Francis Marston, 54, of 222 Stage Road died at his residence that he built himself on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, after a long battle with leukemia.

He was born Oct. 26, 1949, in Boston, the son of Francis and Helen (Dickenson) Marston. He graduated from English High School and Franklin Pierce College. He was a veteran in the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard from 1969 to 1972 at Pease Air Force Base in Newington.

He was employed at the Lawrence Pump Co., Lawrence, Mass., for eight years and retired from Digital Equipment Co. as a network administrator for 18 years. After retirement, he worked for the Department of Transportation (TSA) at the Manchester Airport. He was a former member of the Nottingham Volunteer Fire Department and also a part-time police officer in Nottingham.

He was a black belt and a Sensei in the Kumiuchi Ryu School of Ju Jitsu, and taught both at the Nottingham Community Center and the MLK Academy. He was a Scoutmaster in Cub Scouts Pack 167 and the Boy Scouts Troop 167. He was also a member of the Toast Masters and Elks Club.

Survivors include his wife, Susan (Gallivan) Marston, of Nottingham; five sons, James, Jade, Edmund, Samuel, and Thomas Marston, all of Nottingham; one brother, Frank Marston and his wife, Pat, of Marion, Mass.; three sisters, Barbara O’Hara and her husband, Vincent, of Clovis, Calif., Jacquelyn Marston of Nashua, Mary O’Keefe and her husband, John, of Virginia Beach, Va.; and beloved nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Purdy Memorial Chapel, 2 Concord Road (Route 4) Lee, NH.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at St. Thomas More Church in Durham, with the Rev. Daniel St. Laurent officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the spring.

Raymond McLaren

KITTERY, Maine - Raymond R. McLaren, 54, of Manson Road in Kittery died suddenly on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, in Alfred, Maine.

Born in Chicago, Ill., on July 19, 1949, he was the son of James and Rita (Morel) McLaren. He attended school for many years at Crotched Mountain School for the Deaf, as well as Peterborough, N.H., High School, where he graduated. He furthered his education at Keene State College.

He was employed for a number of years at Sanders-Thompson in Waltham.

In 1991, he met his future wife, Megan T. Smith. They were married in 1993, and in 1996, they moved from Waltham to their home in Kittery, where they were raising their family.

He was active in the deaf community, making tapes and other activities. He had an enjoyable sense of humor and loved to travel.

He will be missed by his family, his wife, Megan T. Smith McLaren, of Kittery; and their two daughters, Katharine A. and Jaime H. McLaren, both of Kittery; his sisters, Elena McLaren of New York and Mary Philbrick of Manchester. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard McLaren.

Friends may visit with his family on Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road in Kittery. A funeral will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Fr. Real Nadeau officiating.

Arrangements are entrusted to J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home of Kittery.

Leslie Smith

BARRINGTON - Leslie F. Smith, Jr., 86, of Barrington, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester following a brief illness.

He was born on Feb. 20, 1917, in Stamford, Conn., the son of Leslie F. and Mildred (Tooker) Smith Sr. He was active in civic affairs and enjoyed gardening, animals and being surrounded by his family and friends.

Family members include his wife of 24 years, Roberta Smith; three daughters, Evelyn R. Poulin, Patricia L. LeFrancois and Karen L. Sauve; two sons, Brian Sauve and Richard Cornell; and his sister, Juliet Smith. He was predeceased by his sister, Mildred E. Kirkland; and a brother, Edmund T. Smith. He was also loved by his four grandchildren; four great-granddaughters; and a niece and nephew.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Hampshire Doberman Rescue League, P.O. Box 1911, Rochester, NH 03866, c/o Norma Guronskas.

A private burial will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Goffstown Harvest Christian Church, 542 Mast Road, Goffstown, NH.

The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is in charge of arrangements.

Kathleen Veinott

MALDEN, Mass. - Kathleen M. (Tobin) Veinott of Malden passed away Friday, Feb. 6, 2004. She was a resident of Westford for the past two years, formerly a longtime resident of Malden.

She was born on June 18, 1908 in Ireland and retired as a sales clerk for the Jordan Marsh Co.

She was the wife of the late Arthur J. Veinott; mother of Patricia A. Enwright and her husband, Daniel, of Westford, John A. Veinott and his wife, Rosalie, of Dover, N.H., and Kathleen M. French and her husband, John, of Malden; sister of James Tobin of Ireland and the late Mary Driscoll, Rita Carthy, Bridget Terry and Richard, John and Dennis Tobin, sister-in-law of Eithne Tobin of Ireland.

She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Folger Wentworth, founded Wentworth Motor Co.

EXETER - Folger J. Wentworth, 89, of Hampton Falls Road, died Feb. 7, 2004, at his granddaughter’s home in Niceville, Fla.

He was born Sept. 14, 1914 in Stratham, the son of Fred and Rose (Cote) Wentworth. He graduated from Exeter High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

A former longtime resident of Stratham, he lived for the past several years in Exeter and wintered at his home in Sun City Center, Fla.

He founded Wentworth Motors of Exeter in 1945, where he had been an active owner and president since its beginnings. He was a former president of the New Hampshire Automobile Dealers Association. He enjoyed dancing, gardening, playing bridge and was a well known golfer at the Exeter Country Club. He never missed playing at the Portsmouth Country Club for the Exeter New Car Dealers Charity Golf Benefit.

He was predeceased by his wife, Anita F. (Camire) Wentworth in 1998; two sons, Jon Wentworth in 1993, and William Wentworth in 1995; four brothers, Frank, Forest, Fred and Francis; and two sisters, Faith and Florence.

He is survived by six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Freida Young of Manchester; two daughters-in-law, Elizabeth Wentworth of Stratham, June Wentworth of Hooksett; two sisters-in-law, Winnifred Wentworth of Stratham, Nina Camire of Newmarket; and his companion, Jeannette Parent, of Sun City Center, Fla.

There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church, located at Lincoln and Front streets, Exeter, NH.

Burial will be in the spring at the Calvary Cemetery in Newmarket.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833. Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter, N.H., is handling the arrangements.

Patricia Young

ROLLINSFORD - Patricia A. Young, 57, of Silver Street, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover following a period of failing health.

She was born in Somerville, Mass., on Nov. 6, 1946, the daughter of Fred W. and Mary (Herlihy) Young.

She was a reading specialist at the Strafford School. She had also taught in Alton, Rollinsford and at the McClelland School in Rochester.

She was known in the "reading world" for getting books into the hands of children.

She was the recipient of several literacy awards, a member and past president of the Strafford Education Association, the Granite State Reading Council, the New England Reading Association, the National Education Association, the International Reading Association, was recognized by the State Board of Education for organizing volunteers for literacy, and was the recipient of the Disney Teacher of the Year Award.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Fred W. Young, who died on Oct. 26, 2003.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Gail Young of Lebanon; twin nephews, Michael and Andrew Young, also of Lebanon; an aunt, Anna Louise Cook; and an uncle, Dennis "Joe" Herlihy, both of Massachusetts; an aunt, Beverly Philpot of Virginia; also cousins and friends too numerous to count.

There will be no calling hours.

A celebration of her life will be held Thursday at 4 p.m. at New Castle Congregational Church, Main Street, New Castle, N.H., with the Rev. Ron Staley, pastor, officiating. A reception will follow.

Burial will be this spring in Valley Cemetery, Lebanon, N.H.

Memorial contributions may be made to either the Strafford School Literacy Program, 22 Roller Coaster Road, Strafford, NH 03884 or to the Parkinson Disease Foundation.

Arrangements are under the direction of Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover, N.H.

Natalie Ferreira
EPPING - Natalie E. (Churchill) Ferreira, 72, of Pleasant Street, died April 6, 2004, at her home in Epping after a lengthy illness.

She was born May 4, 1931, in Beverly, Mass., the daughter of Albert W. and Catherine A. (Matheson) Churchill.

Growing up in Beverly, she was proud to be a "Ryal Sider," spending time on the water and being surrounded by her family and many friends. She graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Beverly in 1949, and from the Chandler Business School in Boston in 1951. In 1952, she married fellow Ryal Side resident Roy G. Ferreira, who eventually became the owner and operator of Ferreira Farms. In 1964, they moved the family to Epping and continued to summer at their home in Beverly.

A former supervisor of the checklist, she was active in the community in many ways, including as a former member of the Epping Fire Belles and the PTO. She also had a love of politics, both local and national. Faith also played an important role in her life as a longtime communicant at St. Joseph’s Church and as a former CCD teacher. Her many talents included playing piano, cooking and home decorating.

Affectionately known as "Nana" by her grandchildren, she will mostly be remembered as a woman with a heart of gold, a keen wit and youthful sense of humor. Taking care of her family was her first priority. Always putting the needs of others before her own, she enriched the lives of all around her.

The widow of Roy G. Ferreira, who died on Sept. 27, 2002, she was also predeceased by her twin sisters, Sally Hatt and Jane Churchill; and her sister-in-law, Theresa Churchill.

Family members include three daughters, Gloria A. and husband, John Brewitt, of Raymond; Lynne F. and husband, Gary Barrett, of Salem, Mass., and Deborah F. and husband, Jeffrey Liacos, of Beverly, Mass; two sons, Roy G. and wife, Elisabeth Ferreira Jr. of Beverly, Mass., and Wayne A. Ferreira of Epping; six grandchildren, Miguel J. Brewitt, John J. Brewitt Jr., Andrew Barrett, Michael Barrett, Kevin Ferreira, and Jennie Ferreira; four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Richard, Hannah and Ryan Brewitt; her brother, Albert W. Churchill Jr. of Beverly, Mass.; sister and brother-in-law, Idalia and Gus Gomes of Beverly; brother-in-law, Warren Hatt of Middleton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 12 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 8 Pleasant St., Epping, N.H. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 13 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, Route 27, Pleasant Street, Epping, N.H. The Rev. Michael Taylor will be the celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Church, Epping.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to either Children’s Hospital Boston, Vascular Anomalies Center, attn.: Julie Considine, 300 Longwood Ave., Boston, MA 02115 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater NH Chapter, 10 Ferry St., Suite 419, Concord, NH 03301.

Arrangements are by Brewitt Funeral Home.

Larry Hilton

ROCHESTER - Larry Hilton, 50, of 16 Pine St., died Monday, April 5, 2004, at Frisbie Memorial Hospital.

Born April 21, 1953, in Sanford, Maine, he was the son of Arthur and Arlene (Wright) Hilton. He was employed at Waterpik Technologies. He enjoyed carpentry work.

Members of his family include three brothers, George Hilton of Barrington, Gordon Hilton and his wife, Donna, of Barrington, and Ronald Hilton of Rochester; and two nieces, Donna and Valerie Hilton of Rochester.

Family and friends may call Friday, April 9 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the R.M. Edgerly and Son Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St., Rochester, NH.

A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home.

Burial will take place at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Barrington, N.H., at a later date.

William Miner

ELIOT, Maine - William E. Miner, 82, of Eliot, Maine, died Monday, April 5, 2004, at York Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born Oct. 17, 1921, in Mount Vernon, N.Y., the son of Clement and Marion (McCombs) Miner.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army during the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Services Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Purple Heart.

He is survived by his daughters, Billie Lynn Gilbert and her husband, Donald, of Cary, N.C., and Lora Miner and her friend, Steven Pelchat of Eliot; and one brother, Mathew Minor of New Rochelle, N.Y.

He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Edna May (Hubbard) Miner; and one brother, James Miner.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 8 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, State Road, Eliot, Maine.

Services are under the direction of the Wilson-Cooper Funeral Home, 21 Rogers Road, Kittery, Maine.

Jeanne Moisan

DOVER - Jeanne Moisan, 89, died Monday, April 5, 2004, at Langdon Place, Middle Road, after a period of failing health.

Born June 29, 1914, in Allenstown, N.H., she was the daughter of Marcisse Victor Guilbeault and Amanda Courchesne.

Formerly of Allenstown for 83 years, she moved to Dover in 1997. Before retiring, she was an employee of Sprague Electric Co. in Concord from 1959-1979. After retirement, she became a homemaker and loved to work in her garden and to sew. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Post 2860, Veterans of Foreign War and Suncook Valley.

She is survived by one daughter, Lorraine Moisan Skaltsis and her husband, Nick, of Dover; two brothers, Raymond Guilbeault of Allenstown, Ernest Guilbeault of Hooksett; three sisters, Rose Martel of Dover, Dorothy Pelletier of Allenstown, Lorraine Pelletier of Hooksett; one granddaughter, Nicole Skaltsis Bosco of Rochester; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Thursday, April 8 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave., Dover. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 12 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church in Suncook.
