Genevieve Hoginski

DOVER - Genevieve B. Hoginski, 87, of 59 Spur Road, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at her home.

She was born in Windsor Locks, Conn., on Jan. 8, 1915, the daughter of Albert and Victoria (Rybczyk) Belczyk.

She was a graduate of Enfield (Conn.) High School and was a resident of Sturbridge, Mass., prior to moving here in 1962.

She had worked with her husband at the family business, William’s Cadillac & Oldsmobile Dealership.

She was a volunteer at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital for over 30 years, a member of the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital Auxiliary, the Pioneer Garden Club, the Cocheco Quilter’s, the Dover Woman’s Club and the A.A.R.P.

She was a member of St. Joseph Church and the Altar & Rosary Society of the church.

She was predeceased by her husband, William F. Hoginski, who died in 1979.

She is survived by two sons, William F. Hoginski Jr. and his wife, Barbara, and Edward W. Hoginski and his wife, Fran, all of Dover; six grandchildren, Stephen Hoginski of Durham, Jennifer Rief and her husband, Craig of Durham, Gretchen Carosella and her husband, Bradley of Center Valley, Pa., Natalie Hoginski of Portsmouth and her fiancé, Drew Koellmer, Anthony Lee Hoginski of Rye and Lisa Russell and her husband, Raymond of Straham; three great-grandchildren, Hunter and Harrison Rief of Durham and Sophia Carosella of Center Valley; a sister, Anne Kedzior of Enfield; and several nieces.

Relatives and friends are invited to call Friday from 9:45 to 11:45 a.m. at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at noon at St. Joseph Church, 150 Central Ave. Burial will follow in St. Mary New Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

John MacKenzie Jr.

LEBANON, Maine - John A. MacKenzie Jr., 58, of Lower Guinea Road, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at his home.

John was born, March 15, 1943, in Portsmouth, N.H. and was the son of John A. and Ruth E. (Basett) MacKenzie Sr. He was educated in the Portsmouth schools and had resided in Lebanon for the last eight years.

He was a former employee of Robbins Auto Supply Company.

Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Roberta (Shaw) MacKenzie of Lebanon; three sons, Terry L. MacKenzie of North Berwick, John A. MacKenzie III of Berwick and Allen D. MacKenzie of Lebanon; four daughters, Angela L. Bugin of Connecticut, Tracy A. Junkins of Berwick, Cami J. MacKenzie of Rochester, N.H. and Sue A. MacKenzie of Somersworth, N.H.; a sister, Sandra J. Tewksbury of Kittery; 15 grandchildren, one great-grandson, and three nephews.

There will be no calling hours. Services and interment will be private. Kindly omit flowers. Arrangements are by Laing Funeral Chapel, 36 Rochester St., Berwick.

Victoria Quinney

EXETER - Victoria "Vicky" M. Quinney, 81, of Portsmouth Avenue, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at the SunBridge Rehabilitation Center in Exeter after a period of failing health.

She was born Sept. 15, 1920, in Boston, Mass., the daughter of Paul and Victoria (Gorski) Renaud.

She had resided in Exeter since 1960, having come from Louisville, Ky. The family had lived in different parts of the country and even in Germany as her husband, Austin, was in the service.

They owned and operated the Quinney’s West End Drug Store in Exeter for about 15 years.

She was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church in Exeter.

She is survived by four sons, Edward P. M. Quinney of Wells, Maine, John "Jack" Quinney of Kingston, Joseph Quinney of Exeter and James Quinney of Golden, Colo.; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Renaud of Wells and Alfred "Whitey" Renaud of Newark, Del.; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Austin F. Quinney, who died in 1989.

Calling hours will be held today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church of Exeter. Burial will follow in the Exeter Cemetery, Exeter.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her husband’s memory to the Knights of Columbus, 73 Winter St., Exeter, NH 03833, as he had served as grand master.

Phyllis Rouleau

GALVESTON, Ind. - Phyllis C. Rouleau, 74, died Dec. 30, 2001, at the home of her sister-in-law, Elaine Rogers in Galveston.

Born May 14, 1927, in Fairfield, Vt., she was the last living child of five. She worked hard all her life, recently retired from Hershey Metal Products. She also was a great cook and won an award for her pasta salad.

An avid gardener, her roses were a thing of beauty but nothing compared to the relish she made from her vegetable garden which will be also missed by her family members, whom she was very generous to.

Mrs. Rouleau leaves her loving and devoted husband, Edmond of Ansonia and formerly of West Lebanon, Maine; a daughter, Suzanne Tisco of Ft. Meyers, Fla.; a son, Edmond Rouleau Jr. of Fort Riley Kan.; many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Ann Rouleau; two brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Rouleau will be greatly missed by all who loved her so very much.

Florence Thibeault

BERWICK, Maine - Florence M. Thibeault, 82, formerly of Allen Street died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at the Harbour Home in York following and extended illness.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Laing Funeral Chapel, 36 Rochester St., Berwick.

Louella Waldron

FARMINGTON - Louella Marie Waldron, 54, of Lone Star Avenue, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 15, 2002, at home after a brief illness.

Born Nov. 3, 1947 in Rochester, the daughter of Joachin and Alma (Duplessis) Gagnon, she was raised and resided in Gonic until 1972, having resided in Farmington for 30 years.

She was a graduate of Spaulding High School in Rochester, Class of 1966.

She was formerly employed as a road supervisor with the Rich’s Department Stores of Salem, Mass., and had worked as a painter’s helper at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. She had also worked as an assistant supervisor at Hudson News of Raymond.

A former member of the Farmington Lions Club, she had volunteered for the Salvation Army at the homeless shelter in Rochester.

She enjoyed gardening, reading and hosting exchange students.

She is survived by her husband, Rod Waldron of Farmington; her mother, Alma Gagnon of Rochester; two sisters, Anne Marie Gagnon of Florida and Jacqueline Rioux of Rochester; three brothers, Lionel Gagnon and Norman Gagnon, both of Rochester, and Clifford Gagnon of Massachusetts; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her father and a brother, Robert Gagnon.

Memorial calling hours will be held Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at C.E. Peaslee and Son Funeral Home, 32 Central St., Farmington.

A memorial mass will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church, 90 Central St., Farmington, with the Rev. Eddy Bisson, pastor as celebrant.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 360 Route 101, Bedford, NH 03110; or to Rochester/Rural District VNA & Hospice, 178 Farmington Road, Rochester, NH 03867.

Sister Charlotte Burleigh
MANCHESTER - Sister Charlotte Burleigh, CSC, (Sister Mary Charlotte), 86, of the Sisters of Holy Cross, 357 Island Pond Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at Catholic Medical Center.

Born in Rochester on Sept. 5, 1915, she was the daughter of Henry W. and Flora Ann (McDonald) Burleigh.

She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Holy Cross at St. Laurent, Quebec, Canada, in 1934 and made her final profession in 1939.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in business education from Notre Dame College at Manchester in 1959. She also took graduate classes.

Sister Burleigh taught at parochial elementary schools and high schools in New Hampshire at Manchester, Somersworth, Newmarket and Nashua; in Massachusetts at Adams and New Bedford; in Canada at Montreal and Grande Prairie; and in St. Albans, Vt. During summer months, she taught at Notre Dame College.

While in New Bedford, she began a youth group at St. Anthony High School. She later taught religion in the public school system, taught business classes and served as a Eucharistic minister.

She also was a swimming instructor and coached basketball and softball.

She is survived by a sister, Celia Groblicky of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held today from 2 to 4 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 pm. at St. George Manor, 357 Island Pond Road, Manchester.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel at St. George Manor.

Burial will be in St. Augustin Cemetery, South Beech Street, Manchester.

Memorial donations may be made to Holy Cross Development Fund, 377 Island Pond Road, Manchester, NH 03109.

Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester, is in charge of arrangements.

Arthur Coleman

NORTH BERWICK, Maine - Arthur W. Coleman, 76, of Prospect Street, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at Greenwood Center in Sanford after a long illness.

He was born Dec. 2, 1925, in North Berwick, a son of Harry and Mildred (Hatch) Coleman. He attended North Berwick schools before serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a gunner, second mate, on a P.T. boat in the South Pacific.

He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. In his retirement years, he enjoyed woodcrafts, making them for family and friends.

For many years, he had been employed by the North Berwick Lumber Company and had worked for Howard Construction and retired from MSAD 60 where he had been a custodian.

He had been a member of the Quint-Cheney Post American Legion in North Berwick and the Maine Trappers Association.

He is survived by two daughters, Susan Goodman and Gail Coleman, both of North Berwick; a brother, Lewis Coleman of Sanford; five grandchildren, Tina LaVallee of Dover, N.H., Dr. Kimberly Howard of Shorewood, Wisc., Nathan Howard of South China, Seth LaFlamme of North Berwick, and Tess LaFlamme of North Berwick; and two great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Esther Reed Coleman, in 1981, and a sister, Ruth Coleman Chadbourne.

Visiting hours will be held Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, 26 Market Street, North Berwick. An American Legion service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

A funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Bethel Christian Church, Lower Main Street, North Berwick, with the Rev. Robert G. Cole Sr. officiating.

Spring interment in Woodlawn Cemetery in South Berwick.

Real Frechette

WINDSOR, Conn. - Real P. Frechette, 76, gratefully entered the embrace of his Savior and Redeemer on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, following a long illness.

Born in Exeter, N.H., he had a lifetime of service in the railroad industry, starting as a station clerk and eventually retiring as a finance executive in 1974.

Although he suffered from poor eyesight his entire life, he worked and attended school full-time, graduating in 1957 from the University of New Hampshire with high honors. He was also a member of the economics academic fraternity of Phi Kappa Phi.

He exemplified the values of his generation, he was a hard worker, a faithful husband and a devoted father. His public activities included stints as president of a local Lion’s Club chapter, as well as serving as chairman of the Wakefield, N.H., budget committee.

Together with his loving wife of over 50 years, Catherine, who predeceased him, he brought four people into this world who all loved him very much. Paula, his first born, whose death from cancer in 1983 saddened him deeply, Paul of Lansdale, Pa., Ann of Valentines, Va., and Donald of Simsbury. He is also survived by his sons-in-law, Ed Stamper of San Ramon, Calif., and Marvin Emmons of Valentines; his daughters-in-law, Sharon of Lansdale and Cheryl of Simsbury; five grandchildren, Eric and Marc Stamper, Paula (namesake of his first born) Frechette, Katie (namesake of his spouse) and Patrick Frechette; and his sister, Sister Camillus Frechette, RSM, of Nashua.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary, 942 Hopmeadow St., Simsbury.

Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 96 Oak St., Hartford, CT 06106.

The Baker-Gagne Funeral Homes and Cremation Service of Wolfeboro and West Ossipee, N.H., are in charge of the arrangements.

Priscilla Mourgenos

DOVER - Priscilla A. Mourgenos, 77, of 2 James St., died Wednesday Jan. 16, 2002, at her home following a period of failing health.

Born in Rochester on May 1, 1924, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Marie A. (Grassie) Robillard. She grew up in Dover and attended Dover schools, graduating from Dover High School in 1942. While in school, she was active in softball, basketball and swimming.

Prior to her retirement she was a 45-year employee of the former Meader’s Flower Shop. She also taught Greek dancing for many years and was a member of the Daughters of Penelope.

Priscilla loved to play cards and was a member of the Back River Community Club. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and was one of the "Golden Girls" along with her lifelong friends, Bea Merchant, Ellie Hall and Flo Grenier. She loved life, loved having parties and was always there to help other people, as well as welcoming people from all walks of life into her home.

She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church, Dover.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, George W. Mourgenos; a son, Michael Mourgenos; daughters, Palma Smith, Nicolette "Nikki" Leatham, all of Dover; grandchildren, Mrs. Joseph (Kimberly) Alty, Fannie and Ollie Leatham, all of Dover; a great-granddaughter, Shannon Alty of Dover; her exchange students who were like sons, Carlos Gonzales and Luiser Borrego, both of El Paso, Texas; a sister, Doretta Crateau; a brother, Bernard Robillard, both of Dover; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, William Mourgenos who died in 1970, and her son-in-law Philip Leatham who died in 2001.

Relatives and friends are invited to call Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church, 150 Central Ave. Burial will follow in St. Mary New Cemetery.

Memorials in her name may be made to the American Diabetes Association, NH Affiliate, 249 Canal St., Manchester, NH 03101.

Wallace Patch Jr.

KITTERY, Maine - Wallace E. "Brother" Patch Jr., 80, of 135 Braveboat Harbor Road, Kittery Point, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at his home.

Born May 20, 1921, in Kittery Point, he was a son of Wallace E. Sr. and Marion (Tobey) Patch. He attended local schools including R.W. Traip Academy.

A lifelong resident of Kittery, Brother Patch as he was affectionately known, was active in his community, serving on the Kittery Cemetery committee for many years, as well as the Kittery Point clam commission. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Kittery Point, where he served as a deacon. He also served as a scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 314 of Kittery Point, aiding five scouts in attending the badge of Eagle Scout.

His first love was his time spent with family, playing with his beloved grandchildren, golfing with his sons, and enjoying a walk with his wife. He also enjoyed many years of time spent with friends and family at his camp on Schoodic Lake in Brownville.

Mr. Patch served his country as a member of the U.S. Army in World War II and later as a shop planner with the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for over 39 years, retiring in 1980. After his retirement, he spent time as a custodian for the Kittery schools and as a handyman and painting contractor.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 48 years, Althea (Hoyt) Patch; his three sons, Wayne Patch and his wife, Susan, of South Berwick, Steven Patch and his wife, Maria, of Cumberland, and Scott Patch and his wife, Lisa Dinsmore, of Eliot; his brother, Maurice Patch of Kittery; two sisters, Dorothy Fernald of Unity and Anne Higgins of North Berwick; four grandchildren, Carrie Patch, Daniel Patch, Abigale Patch and Riley Wallace Dinsmore-Patch.

He was predeceased by his brother, Chester Patch, and sister, Mildred Patch.

A funeral will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the First Christian Church of Kittery Point.

Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road/U.S. Route 1 By-pass, Kittery.

Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to the First Christian Church of Kittery Point.

Arrangements are by the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home of Kittery.
