Patricia Prentice

LEBANON, Maine - Patricia A. Prentice, 57, died on Saturday, July 30, 2001, at her home in Lebanon surrounded by her family after a three-year battle with breast cancer.

Born April 7, 1944, in Sanford to the parents of Alphonse and Louise Lizotte.

She was a poster child for the March of Dimes in the years 1951 and 1952.

She graduated from Sanford High School in 1963.

She was a dedicated wife and mother.

She was very artistic, articulate and talented. Her hobbies included handmade crafts of all types including oil paintings, sewing, gardening and reading.

She was an inspiration to all and will be loved, remembered and missed by all.

She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Roger Lizotte.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, William Lawrence Prentice; her children in order of birth, Kelley McAloon of Bristol, N.H., Lori Fennell of North Carolina and William L. Prentice Jr. of Lebanon; her brothers, Ernest Lizotte and James Knowles of Lebanon; and her sister, Jean Cofferen of Lebanon.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Forrest Grove Cemetery on Cemetery Road, Lebanon.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Rochester Visiting Nurses Association/Hospice, Route 11, Rochester, NH 03867.

Sharon Archie

WELLS, Maine - Sharon A. Archie, 54, resident of Charlie Loop Road in Wells, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001, at her residence.

She was born Jan. 18, 1947, in Exeter, N.H., a daughter of George E. and Angelia H. (Dunn) Hunter. She graduated from Eliot High School in Eliot, Class of 1965, and received a nursing degree from New Hampshire Technical College in Portsmouth.

She moved with her husband to Wells in 1978 coming from Rye, N.H.

She was employed for 12 years as an licensed practical nurse at Interim Health Care of South Portland.

Mrs. Archie was active in the 4-H in her younger years. She enjoyed doing various types of crafts and also enjoyed camping in Mt. Blue State Park in Maine with her husband.

She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Stanley P. Archie of Wells; two sons, Jason P. Archie of Gunnison, Colo., and David S. Archie of Brighton, Mass.; one daughter, Angela M. LoCicero of Lexington, Ky.; her mother, Angelia H. Hunter of Eliot; one brother, Gary M. Hunter of Rochester, N.H.; a sister, Diane C. Archie of North Berwick; several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Rd., Wells.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday with Rev. David Avery officiating.

Georgeanne Briggs

CENTER STRAFFORD - Georgeanne R. Briggs of 25 Beaver Road died at her residence on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001.

Arrangements will be announced by the Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave., Dover.

Thelma Chadbourne

NORTH BERWICK, Maine - Thelma I. Chadbourne , 73, former resident of Guptill Lane, died suddenly, Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, at the Dover Rehabilitation Center in Dover, N.H.

She was born in South Portland, Dec. 22, 1927, the daughter of John F. and Florence I. (Brown) Melcher.

She was educated in Massachusetts schools and lived the greater part of her life in Berwick and North Berwick.

She belonged to the Rock and Gem Society of Maine and was an avid collector of minerals and precious stones. She enjoyed rock and gem exhibits, playing bingo, crocheting and painting with oils. She was a talented, self-taught artist with her special interests in still life and landscapes.

Prior to retirement, Ms. Chadbourne had been employed at Robert Shoe Company in Somersworth, N.H., and Janco Company in Rollinsford, N.H., for many years.

She is survived by June Thompson, her companion and friend of 36 years; two daughters, Donna Hersey of Maine and Linda Heath of Fryeburg; one son; Kenneth Chadbourne of Center Barnstead, N.H.; one sister, Joyce V. (Melcher) Buono of Dover; three brothers, David L. Melcher of Largo, Fla., John "Irving" Melcher of Massachusetts and Richard E. Melcher of Biddeford; 23 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-nieces and great-nephews in New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts and Florida.

She was deeply loved and will be sadly missed by her family, friends and special pets - "Chow Bear," her dog, and "Bibsy," her cat. Ms. Chadbourne had a great love for all animals, especially the mistreated and the abandoned.

She was predeceased by her parents; a daughter, Liana Baron of Biddeford; and a son, Daniel Hersey, of Biddeford.

Calling hours will be held today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Laing Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Laing Chapel, with Rev. James Veerland of Faith Baptist Church of Somersworth, officiating.

Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery, Pine Hill, Berwick.

Laing Funeral Home of 36 Rochester St., Berwick, is in charge of the arrangements.

Vernon Cool

DOVER - Vernon Voige Cool, 79, of 16 Eliot Park, died Sept. 15, 2001, at Dover Rehabilitation and Living Center. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave., Dover.

Rita Devore

DOVER - Rita S. Devore, 69, of East Concord St., died Sept. 16, 2001, at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital. She was the wife of John Devore. Complete arrangement will be announced by the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover.

Dexter Hill, firefighter

DOVER - Dexter R. Hill, 88, of Central Towers, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001, at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital.

Born in Rollinsford on April 13, 1913, the son of Harry S. and Margaret Agnes (Cunningham) Hill and has lived in this area all of his lifetime.

He was a graduate of the Berwick Academy in South Berwick, Maine.

He started his working career as a mill worker, later working for the New Hampshire State Highway Department.

Mr. Hill was a firefighter with the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as well as having served as a call firefighter with the Dover Fire Department for many years.

He was a member of the Strafford County Firemen’s Association, the York County Firemen’s Association, the Eagles and the Ancient Order of the Hibernians of Dover.

He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth "Betty" (Redden) Hill of Dover; a sister, Mrs. Henry (Margaret) Lang of Dover; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by a baby daughter, Sandra Hill.

There are no calling hours.

A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Church, corner of Chestnut and Third Streets.

Burial will be in New Town Cemetery, Rollinsford.

Funeral arrangements are by the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave.

Bruce Lindsay

DOVER - Bruce C. Lindsay, 70, of 549 Sixth St., died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001, at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital.

Born in South Weymouth, Mass., on Sept. 17, 1930, he was the son of John R. and Margaret E. (Clarey) Lindsay.

He was a former resident of California, Ashland, and Berwick, Maine, prior to coming to Dover 30 years ago. Prior to his retirement in 1986, he was a longtime employee of the Harris Graphics where he was a supervisor. He was a member of the Masons. A loving husband, Dad, Gramps and Great Grampa - loved always, cherished forever.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Olive Elizabeth (Guptil) Lindsay; four sons, Bruce C. Lindsay Jr. and his wife, Lai of Jacksonville, Fla., Wayne R. Lindsay and his wife, Susan of Barrington, Timothy D. Lindsay and wife, Cheryl, and Gary J. Lindsay and his wife, Pamela, all of Dover; two daughters, Sharon L. Lehman of Deerfield and Stacey A. Lindsay of Dover; a dear family friend, Linda Clay of Barrington; 11 grandchildren, Kenneth Lehman, Lori Carper, Brett Lindsay, Trisha Liebec, Timothy Lindsay, Jennifer MacNeil and Christopher Lindsay, all of Dover, Kelley Lehman of San Francisco, Calif., Pamela Lehman of Newmarket, Bruce Lindsay III of Jacksonville, Fla., and Lindsay Clay of Barrington; 12 great-grandchildren, Lindsay, Mandy, Craig and Cassy Carper, Shelby and Brian Lindsay; Cierra, Katielynn and Lilly Liebeck, Gabrielle MacNeil, Jake and Madeline Lindsay, all of Dover; a brother, John R. Lindsay Jr. of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by a son, Brian D. Lindsay, who died Oct. 31, 1980, and a brother, Robert C. Lindsay.

Loved by many, he will be truly missed. He always said that in his life, the greatest accomplishment he had was not money and possessions but his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

At his request there are no calling hours or funeral services. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Pine Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross, 3 Webb Place, Dover, NH 03802 in consideration of current events. Funeral arrangements are by the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave.

Malcolm Morse

DOVER - Malcolm Fred Morse, 77, of 21 Arrowbrook Road, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001, at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital.

He was born Sept. 5, 1924, the son of Frederick and Grace (Johnson) Morse.

Mr. Morse was a veteran in the U.S. Army during World War II, a member of the American Legion Post 8 of Dover and director of the Residence Association of Anglers Retirement Community in Paradise, Fla.

Mr. Morse was known as "The Good Neighbor," always willing to help out the residences in both the Paradise, Fla., community and at the Jenson’s Park in Dover.

He was employed by the J.D. Cahill Company of Hampton as general manager and production manager, retiring in 1988 after 40 years of loyal employment.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret (Locke) Morse of Dover; one son, Malcolm Morse Jr. of West Yarmouth, Mass.; two daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Morse-Finn of Nottingham and Mrs. Jacquelyn Greene of Cheyenne, Wyo.; three stepsons, Dwight Purington of Epping, Gregory Purington of Nottingham and Bob Stanwood of Knoxville, Tenn.; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Robin Costello of Biddeford, Maine; one brother, Frank Morse of Ipswich, Mass.; three sisters, Mrs. Erma Parent of Georgetown, Mass., Mrs. Marion Harding of Plaistow and Mrs. Janice Sabatino of Haverhill, Mass.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.

Relatives and friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Purdy Memorial Chapel, 2 Concord Rd., Lee.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at the Lee Congregational Church, 17 Mast Rd., Lee.

Burial will follow at the Exeter Cemetery, Exeter.

Family flowers only. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, NH Affiliate, 132 Middle St., Manchester, NH 03101.

Alice White

ROCHESTER - Alice G. White, 82, of Eagle Drive and formerly of Newmarket, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001, at Dover Rehab & Living Center in Dover.

Born Jan. 26, 1919, in Beverly, Mass., she was the daughter of Albert and Florence (Ray-mond) Jones.

She lived in Newmarket for 35 years before moving to Rochester 25 y ears ago.

She was a Gold Star Mother and past president of the Robert G. Durgin American Legion Auxiliary Unit 67, and a member of Lamprey Aerie 1934 F.O.E. Auxiliary, both of Newmarket.

She was a member of St. Leo’s Church, Gonic.

She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth "Red" White Sr., in 1971; two sons, Cpl. Robert F. White and Ralph White; as well as brothers and sisters.

She is survived by one son, Kenneth H. White Jr. of Exeter; one daughter, Catherine E. Hill of Rochester; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her "adopted daughter" Priscilla Roucher of Rochester; several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter St., Newmarket. American Legion Auxiliary services will be held at 7:30 p.m.

A funeral prayer service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. from the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home with Rev. John Finnigan officiating.

Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Newmarket.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Cedarcrest, 91 Maple Avenue, Keene, NH 03431, or the Vietnam Memorial Fund.

Armand Blanchette
Somersworth - Armand Louis Blanchette, 85, of 44 Myrtle St., died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital after a brief illness.

Armand was born in Somersworth on Aug. 25, 1916, and was the son of Henri and Elsie (Robidas) Blanchette. He was raised in Somersworth, attending St. Martin Academy. Mr. Blanchette was a lifelong resident of this community.

A veteran of World War II, Armand saw military service with the U.S. Army, in the Pacific Theatre of Operations with the Americal Division. Armand spent his entire career in the building trades industry, where he owned and operated the Blanchette and Norman Construction Co. He was a communicant of St. Martin Catholic Church and was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Somersworth.

Family members include his wife of 52 years, Theresa (Jacques) Blanchette of Somersworth; two sons, Bill Blanchette and his wife Susan, of Somersworth, and Roland Blanchette and his wife Rita, of Lewiston, Maine; three daughters, Elaine Guillory of N. Berwick, Maine, Susan Pontbriant of Brewer, Maine, and Vivian Bohan of Somersworth; a sister, Theresa Desharnais of Somersworth; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Roland and Raymond Blanchette, and by a sister, Marguerite Blouin.

Calling hours at Bernier Funeral Home, 49 South Street, Somersworth, will be Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Martin Catholic Church, W. High Street, Somersworth, with the Rev. Aaron Pfaff, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Somersworth.

Robert Vachon Jr.

MEREDITH - Robert M. Vachon Jr., 32, of Meredith Center Road, died suddenly on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia. Born in Laconia on March 2, 1969, he was the son of the late Robert M. Sr. and Grace H. (Souard) Vachon.

He was a lifelong resident of Meredith and attended Meredith schools.

He worked for many years as a carpenter and recently as a self-employed sheetrocker.

He was a communicant of Saint Charles Roman Catholic Church in Meredith.

He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Angela J. (Simpson) Vachon of Meredith; two children, Johnny R. Vachon and Alicia M. Vachon, both of Meredith; his mother of Meredith; three sisters, Shelia Vachon of Meredith, Trisha Sargent of Bristol, and Rhonda Keenan of Bristol; one half-brother, Michael Jones of Michigan; and one half-sister, Regina Vachon of Tilton; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held in the Mayhew Funeral Home, routes 3 and 104, Meredith, on Sunday, 3-5 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Charles Church, Meredith, on Monday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Richard Thompson, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in the Meredith Village Cemetery, Meredith.

Charles Perkins

MEREDITH - Charles Frederick Perkins, 70, of Waukewan Street, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at the Veterans Hospital in White River Junction, Vt., after a long illness.

Born in Weare on Oct. 8, 1931, he was the son of Ralph and Josephine (Duckworth) Perkins.

He grew up in Weare and resided there most all of his life. He was a resident of Colebrook for 15 years before moving to Meredith several months ago.

Mr. Perkins worked for the Town of Weare and then for the Town of Colebrook in the maintenance departments. He also drove trucks for many construction companies throughout New Hampshire, including Audley Construction in Bow.

He was a member of the Griggs-Wyatt American Legion Post No. 33 of Meredith and also loved to go country dancing.

Mr. Perkins was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Dorothy L. (Wescomb) Perkins of Laconia; two children, Timothy Perkins of Bow and Pamela Bosteter of Winona, Minn.; seven stepchildren, Betty Pike of Belmont, Doloras Humiston of Meredith, Doris Gessler of Summitville, N.Y., Cindy Plummer of Meredith, Tina Pike of Meredith, Rosie Blake of Meredith, and Richard Pike of Moultonboro; one brother, Richard Perkins of Weare; one sister, Evelyn Reade of Weare; and two nieces.
