KINGWOOD TWP. - Stephanida Zelinsky died July 11, 2002, at home. She was 91. Born in Russia, she lived in New York City before moving to Kingwood Township many years ago. She and her family owned a poultry farm in Kingwood Township. She was also co-owner with her son of the former Bel-Air Motel in Raritan Township for 15 years. It's now a Ramada Inn. She enjoyed reading. Her husband, Leonty, died in 1955. She was also predeceased by two sons, Leon in 1973 and Roy in 2001. Surviving are a daughter, Kary Zeh of Kingwood Township, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Private funeral services were arranged by W.E. Johnson Funeral Home in Holland Township. Burial was at Frenchtown Cemetery.

Tammy Svihla
HIGH BRIDGE - Tammy L. Svihla died Monday, July 21, 2003 at her residence. She was 38. Born in Pittsburgh to Gary Svihla and Nancy Jablonski Laight, she resided in the High Bridge area for the past 15 years. She was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she is survived by two sons, Tyler of Flemington and Johnathan Maleski of High Bridge; a daughter, Taylor Maleski of High Bridge,; and her step-father, John Laight of Flemington. She was involved with Catholic Charities as well as the fight against multiple sclerosis. Services were held Thursday, July 24, at 2 p.m. in Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home in Flemington. Rosolino Covello
BAPTISTOWN - Rosolino Covello died Monday, July 21, 2003, at his home. He was 90. He was born in Sicily, Italy, the son of Giuseppe and Anna Randazzo Covello, and had formerly resided in Brooklyn, N.Y. He lived in Baptistown for 25 years. He was a retired carpenter. He is survived by two sons, Giuseppe Covello of Richmond, Va., and Frank Covello of Long Island, N.Y.; two daughters, Vincenza Mannino of Flemington and Rosalia Buffa of Frenchtown; 16 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Services were held Thursday, July 24, at 10 a.m. at Somerset Hills Mausoleum in Basking Ridge. Arrangements were by Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home in Flemington.

Cathleen Bush
Cathleen Irene (Herbert) Bush of Alexandria Township died Sunday, July 20, 2003, at home. She was 42. Born in Raritan Township, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Darla (Search) Herbert. She lived in Frenchtown for most of her life until moving to Alexandria Township nine years ago. Mrs. Bush was a member of Frenchtown Presbyterian Church. She was a 1978 graduate of Delaware Valley Regional High School. She was part owner of J & C Construction Co. in Milford for 10 years. She was also a homemaker. She was an artist, and enjoyed drawing and painting. She also enjoyed designing and making clothes. Surviving are her husband of six years, Jerry P. Sr.; three sons, Roy J. Kerr, William J. Kerr and Jerry P. Bush Jr., all at home; a daughter, Angel S. Kerr, also at home; three stepsons, Jesse Bush of Frenchtown, and Phillip Bush and Travis Bush, both of Hampton; a stepdaughter, Samantha Bush of Hampton; her grandmother, Irene Weber of North Carolina; two sisters, Sandra Reeves of Phillipsburg and Christy Herbert of North Carolina; and two nieces, Amanda and Melissa Reeves of Phillipsburg. A stepson, Jeffrey Bush, died in 2001. Funeral services were Friday, July 25, at 10 a.m. at W.E. Johnson Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township. Pearl Moore
Pearl B. Moore of Holland Township died Friday, July 18, 2003, at Warren Hospital. She was 90. Born in Finesville, she was a daughter of the late William and Fannie (Reese) Hager. She and her husband, William S. Sr., celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary in September 2002. For many years, she and her husband owned and operated a farm and orchard in Holland Township. Mrs. Moore was a 1930 graduate of Phillipsburg High School. She was an active member and former deacon of Holland Presbyterian Church. Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Shirley J. Trimmer of Hawley, Pa.; two sons, Elmer L. of Dallas, Pa., and William S. Jr. of Holland Township; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Three sisters and four brothers died earlier. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Robert W. Snyder Funeral Home, Riegelsville, Pa. Burial was at Holland Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Ira Dworkin
RARITAN TWP. - Ira Bernard Dworkin died July 17, 2003, at Hunterdon Medical Center. He was 80. Born in Newark, he was the son of Isadore and Debby Sachs Dworkin and lived in Raritan Township since 1951. He served in the Army during World War II in the 303rd Battalion, 97th Infantry Division Mr. Dworkin received his law degree from the College of William and Mary Law School. He practiced law in Flemington from 1951 to 1963. During that time, he served as the county law librarian and was acting magistrate of the municipal court of East and West Amwell and Delaware townships. From 1963 to 1981, he was an attorney for the state, including a stint at the Bureau of Children's Services. He was then appointed state judge of compensation, and he sat in 18 of the 21 counties. Mr. Dworkin retired from that position in 1986. Mr. Dworkin was a Mason, and a member of the Flemington Elks, the Scottish Rite of the Valley of Trenton, the Flemington American Legion Post, the Jewish War Veterans and the William and Mary Law School Association. A life-long Sherlock Holmes enthusiast, Mr. Dworkin taught an adult education course on the fictional detective and helped organize a scion-society of the Baker Street Irregulars. He also wrote fictional updates of Sir Author Conan Doyle's famed character in Sherlock Holmes in Modern Times, Sherlock Takes a Wife and Other Modern Tales, as well as his memoir, A Search for Justice. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Shirley Berkowitz Dworkin; a son Jonathan Dworkin of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; a daughter, Barbara Dworkin of Edgartown, Mass. a brother, Steven Dworkin of Longboat Key, Fla., and two grandchildren Private funeral services were held under the direction of Robert L. Irwin Strober
STOCKTON - Irwin H. Strober died on July 16, 2003, at Hunterdon Medical Center. He was 70. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Julius and Sadie Strober, he lived in Hunterdon County since 1938. Until his retirement, he was a roofing contractor and owner of J. Strober and Sons Roofing in Ringoes. His son, Tony, died in 1981. Surviving are his wife, June; three sons, Gerry of Ringoes, Benje and Steve, both of Stockton; a daughter, Jodi Strober of Perkasie, Pa.; two brothers, Sheldon of Philadelphia and Alan of Westfield; three sisters, Rosalyn Stang of Apopka, Fla., Estelle Weiner of Westfield and Phyllis Cohen of N.C. and 12 grandchildren. Services were last Friday at Robert L. Ford Funeral Home in Flemington. Interment followed in the Flemington Jewish Community Cemetery.

Lillian Zuccarelli
HOPEWELL TWP. - Lillian Kuzma Zuccarelli died July 13, 2003, at her home in Jupiter, Fla. She was 76. She was born in Trenton, the daughter of John and Anna Harhigh Kuzma. She lived in Trenton until 1975, when she and her husband, John Zuccarelli, bought Horizon Hill Farm in Hopewell Township. They also owned a home in Florida since 1991. Mrs. Zuccarelli graduated from Trenton Central High School and Rider College. She was active as a businesswoman with her husband since the 1950s, when the Zuccarellis founded Interstate Paper Supply and Interstate Waste Removal, which they sold in the 1970s. During the next decade, Mrs. Zuccarelli was instrumental in founding National Waste Disposal with her husband and sons and took an active part in guiding the new company, which became one of the largest waste management corporations in the nation. She was active in many charities during her lifetime and enjoyed living on the farm. She liked travel and spending time in Las Vegas, where she enjoyed playing dice games. A sister, Helen Mahan, and two brothers, Robert and Edward Kuzma, died earlier. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, James Zuccarelli of Hopewell and John Zuccarelli III of Jupiter Inlet Colony, Fla.; two sisters, Mary Ann Yanno of Trenton and Hilda Bastecki of Wildwood Crest, and a brother, Michael Kuzma of Newport News, Va. A liturgy service took place last Friday at Sacred Heart Church in Trenton, followed by burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Trenton. Arrangements were by Winowicz Funeral Service of Trenton. A memorial service was scheduled Friday, July 25, at 3 p.m. at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Tequesta, Fla. HAMPSTEAD, N.C. - Lillian A. Recchia died July 13, 2003, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care in Willmington, N.C. She was 72. She was the mother of Jim Recchia of Clinton. Born in Raritan Borough, she lived there until moving to Hampstead a year ago. She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and painting. She was also an avid bowler. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Raritan. In addition to her son, she is survived by her husband of 52 years, Anthony Recchia, and three sisters, Elizabeth Poch of Pennsylvania, Helen Sudol of Manville and Edna Carter of Raritan. A funeral liturgy took place Sunday at the church and burial followed in Bernard's Cemetery in Bridgewater under the direction of Branchburg Funeral Home.

Anne Hopper
APALACHIN, N.Y. - Anne B. Hopper died July 12, 2003, at Lourdes Hospice in Binghamton, N.Y. after a brief illness. She was 88. She was born in Philadelphia, a daughter of Navy Cmdr. Charles Talley and Dorothy Milnor Blackburn. She lived in Flemington before moving to Apalachin. Her husband, Marine Corps Lt. Col. J. Kirk Hopper, died in 1990. She is survived by a son, the Rev. Peter Hopper of Freeville, N.Y.; a daughter, Betsy Blackburn Hopper Copt of Apalachin, and five grandchildren. A memorial service was held Tuesday at Calvary's Love Church in Johnson City, N.Y. Harold Marzloff
PHILIPSBURG - Harold Marzloff died Monday, July 21, 2003 at Brakeley Park Care Center in Philipsburg. He was 78. Born in Newark, he formerly lived in Irvington and Glen Gardner before moving to Phillipsburg six years ago. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War with the Big Red Army Division. He participated in the European theater of operations in WW II and received the Bronze Star. Mr. Marzloff was a welder for Summit Truck Body, retiring 19 years ago. He was a member of the VFW post in Glen Gardner. His wife, Edith McSulla, died earlier. Mr. Marzloff is survived by two daughters, Susan Lamberti of Tinton Falls and Donna Vitiello of Washington Township; a brother, Wilbur Marzloff; a sister, Mildred Musczynski; and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held July 24 at Galante Funeral Home in Union. Interment was in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery in Arneytown.

Zafiroula Hatzikalfas
RARITAN TWP. - Zafiroula Hatzikalfas died Friday, July 18, 2003, at Hunterdon Care Center. She was 79. Born in Kavala, Greece, the daughter of Agisilaos and Agathoniki Kitsikopoulos, she lived in Flushing, N.Y., before settling in Raritan Township 11 years ago. Mrs. Hatzikalfas was a homemaker but had been a seamstress years ago. She was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Piscataway and was very knowledgeable about her religion. She was an avid reader and enjoyed needlepoint. Her husband of 56 years, Nicholas Hatzikalfas, died in 2001. She is survived by a son, John Hatzikalfas of Raritan Township; a daughter, Anastasia Vlahakes of Branchburg; four grandchildren, and one great-grandson. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at the church July 21, followed by burial at Prospect Hills Cemetery in Flemington. Arrangements were directed by Countryside Funeral Home in Three Bridges. Daniel McCoy Jr.
LAMBERTVILLE - Daniel J. McCoy Jr. died July 15, 2003, at Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township. He was 68. Born in Norfolk, Va., the son of Daniel and Marjorie Miller McCoy Sr., he lived in Rahway before moving to Lambertville more than 40 years ago. Mr. McCoy was the night janitor for Meil's Restaurant in Stockton and Lambertville for eight years before his retirement. Earlier, he worked for the Lambertville House and in construction. He served in the Marine Corps from 1954 to 1957, and in the reserves through 1960. Mr. McCoy was a member of American Legion Toscanni Post in Lambertville. His siblings Marjorie Doryk, Carol Fraser and Warren McCoy died earlier. He is survived by his mother, who lives in Lambertville; his wife, Betty Lou Barlow McCoy; his son, Daniel J. Barlow of Ewing; his stepchildren, Benny T. Barlow and Tyshawn Barlow, both of Lambertville, Tracy A. Payne of Phillipsburg, and Jerome Barlow of Chicago; his sisters, Lucille Slonaker of Hampton and Ann Bonella of Somerset, and eight grandchildren. Funeral services were held July 21 at Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home in Lambertville. Interment was in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery in Arneytown.

Virginia Bennett
WORCHESTER, Pa. - Virginia Dakin Cliver Bennett died July 14, 2003, at Meadowood At Worchester (Pa.). She was 87. A daughter, Elizabeth Gilbreath, lives in Stockton. She was born in Asbury Park, the daughter of Samuel Leon Cliver and Ella Mae Dakin Cliver. She was a 1933 graduate of Asbury Park High School and became a registered nurse at the Ann May School of Nursing in Neptune in 1940. She lived in New Brunswick for 35 years. She later earned several degrees from Rutgers University, including a doctorate of education in school psychology. She was a kindergarten teacher for Wall Township Public Schools from 1951 to 1960 and later served as a consultant at various schools. She later served in a number of positions at Rutgers University. Dr. Bennett served on the Executive Board of the New Jersey Psychological Association, of which she served as president from 1972 to 1973, and served on the board of directors of several other professional organizations. She was the editor of The School Psychologist newsletter, held many other positions in the field and published numerous books and articles. In 1977 she received the American Psychological Association's Distinguished Service Award and in 1983 was named Psychologist Of The Year by the New Jersey Psychological Association. Her husband, H. Malcolm Bennett, died in 1982. A brother, Samuel Leon Cliver Jr., died earlier. In addition to her daughter, she is survived by a son, H. Malcolm Bennett Jr. of Worchester, Pa.; a sister, Elizabeth D. Cliver Osborn of Woodbury, Conn.; eight grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. RARITAN TWP. - Mildred E. Apgar died July 15, 2003, at Hunterdon Medical Center. She was 83. Born in Windber, Pa., she resided in Flemington for 20 years before moving to Raritan Township 18 years ago. She was a quality control inspector with Johns-Manville Corp. in Manville, retiring in 1980 after 23 years there. A son, Raymond Blankenship, died in 1986. Mrs. Apgar is survived by her husband, LeRoy L. Apgar; one son, Larry Blankenship of New Canaan, Conn., and three grandchildren. RARITAN TWP. - Hilda K. Lorenz died Monday, July 21, 2003, at Hunterdon Medical Center. She was 59. Born in Yugoslavia, the daughter of Joseph and Theresa Muller Liebzeit, she immigrated to the United States in 1950, living in Irvington before moving to Raritan Township in 1973. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Magdalen's Church in Flemington. In addition to her mother, who lives in Union, she is survived by her husband of 30 years, Bruno Lorenz; a son, Andrew Lorenz, and a daughter, Erika Taylor, both of Raritan Township; and a brother, Anton Liebzeit of Staatsburg, N.Y. He worked in the kitchen of the Center for Educational Advancement in Raritan Township since 1987. He was a member of the Arc of Hunterdon County. RARITAN TWP. - Florence W. Hanson died Saturday, July 19, 2003, at Hunterdon Medical Center. She was 98. She was born in Flemington, the daughter of Theodore and Cora Van Pelt Williamson. She lived in the Flemington area her entire life. She was a seamstress for Flemington Fur Co. and later for Blaher's Department Store in Flemington. She was a member of Flemington United Methodist Church. She volunteered at Hunterdon Medical Center, and was an avid coin collector. Her husband, George F. Hanson, died in 1986 and a son, George M. Hanson, died in 1991. She is survived by two grandchildren, Michael Hanson of Ringoes and G. Thomas Hanson of Prescott, Ariz., and three great-grandchildren. Services were held Tuesday at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home in Flemington. Burial was in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Flemington. UNION TWP. - Constance Gateson Murray O'Doherty, 88, died July 16, 2003, at Hunterdon Medical Center. She was 88. Formerly of Philadelphia and York, Pa., she was a longtime resident of Union Gap Village. She is survived by her husband, Eamonn Ed O'Doherty; a daughter, Lisa Recko of Philadelphia; two sons, Thomas Murray of York, Pa., and Peter Murray of Santa Fe, N.M.; two sisters, Gloria Neely of Merion Station, Pa. and Elizabeth Baker of Issaquah, Wash.; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. O'Doherty donated her body to the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Salvatore DeDomenico
CLINTON TWP. - Salvatore ''Sal Domenick' DeDomenico died Saturday, July 19, 2003, at Rolling Hills Care Center in Clinton Township. He was 82. He was born in Newark, the son of Frank and Josephine Carrione DeDomenico, and lived in Livingston for 42 years before retiring to the Annandale section of Clinton Township eight years ago. He was a prominent Essex County contractor. He was the founder and president of D&D Enterprises in Newark and was the founder and president of Riverland Construction and Gerbar Construction, both in Livingston. Before that, he worked a short time as a federal bank examiner. He served in the Army Air Force in World War II, serving in Africa and Europe. He was a member of the Golden Pirate Association of Seton Hall University, from which he graduated in 1948 with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He had been president of the Roundtop Condo Owners Association at Beaver Brook in Clinton Township since 1998. His wife of 56 years, Gertrude Meehan DeDomenico, died in 1999. He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Basile of Annandale; a son, Stephen DeDomenico of Hillsborough, and two granddaughters. A funeral Mass was held Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Church in Annandale. Burial was at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Bridgewater. Arrangements were made under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home in Clinton Township.

Norman Moore
LITTLE EGG HARBOR TWP. - Norman P. Moore died July 16, 2003, at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville after a brief illness. He was 70. Born in Plainfield, he was a 30-year resident of Branchburg before moving to Little Egg Harbor Township three years ago. Mr. Moore served in the Army with the 82nd Airborne Division in Korea, where he received the Purple Heart. He was a self-employed owner/operator of the Norman P. Moore Excavating Co. in Branchburg for more than 30 years. He was an avid fisherman and a member of the Fan Trailer Club, a recreational trailer club. He was also a member of Congdon-Overlook Lodge F&AM in Bernardsville, and the Tall Cedars Division. Mr. Moore is survived by his wife of 43 years, Joann Crovelli Moore of Little Egg Harbor Township; four daughters, Rosanne Dobrosky of Flemington, Susanne Stahoski of Hillsborough, Noreen Frohme of Cockeysville, Md., and Stacey L. Moore of North Ridge, Calif.; two brothers, George W. Moore of Martinsville and Dewitt D. Moore of Bernards Township; one sister, Carol Jarvis of Vermont, and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday at Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home in Basking Ridge. Interment was at Somerset Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Basking Ridge. Roberta Ferguson
SEA GIRT - Roberta Chiaviello Ferguson, the mother of the congressman who represents most of Hunterdon County, died of multiple myeloma on Thursday, July 17, 2003, in Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. She was 59. The Fergusons lived in Lebanon Township a generation ago, but Mrs. Ferguson last resided in Wellington, Fla., and Sea Girt. She was a 1964 graduate of Fairleigh-Dickinson University and worked as a registered nurse in Passaic and Ridgewood. She married Thomas G. Ferguson in 1968, and in 1974 the couple founded a health care advertising agency. Mrs. Ferguson was a passionate supporter of pro-life causes, and worked for charitable and educational causes. She and her husband were strong supporters and fundraisers for the Republican Party. Pope John Paul II honored her service to the Roman Catholic Church by naming her a dame of the Order of Malta and a dame of the Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. She is survived by her husband; two sons, Thomas Jr. of Morristown and U.S. Rep. Michael of Warren; a daughter, Katie Borbone of Spring Lake and Maggie of Wellington; four sisters, Patricia Botte of Rutherford, Joan Chiaviello of Clarendon Hills, Ill., Susan DiDonato of Warren and Elizabeth Maroney of Chatham, and two brothers, Anthony Chiaviello of Houston and Mark Chiaviello of New York City. Memorial donations can be made to the Epilepsy Foundation, the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins Hospital, or the Birth Haven crisis pregnancy center. Contributions can be mailed to Mary Moran, c/o Thomas Ferguson Associates, 30 Lanidex Plaza West, Parsippany, NJ 07054. A funeral liturgy was held July 23 at Christ the King Church in New Vernon. Interment was in St. Catharine Cemetery in Spring Lake.

Rick Winget
RARITAN TWP. - Rick Winget died July 17, 2003, at Lancaster (Pa.) General Hospital. He was 47. Mr. Winget had a history of heart problems. He was born in Lubbock, Texas, the son of R. Dale and Ava Vance Winget. He was a 1973 graduate of Hunterdon Central High School. Mr. Winget lived in San Francisco for more than 20 years before moving to Raritan Township. Mr. Winget worked as a program engineer on communications systems. He was a member of Garrettson Road Church of Christ in Bridgewater. In addition to his parents, of Raritan Township, Mr. Winget is survived by his daughter, Lauren Winget, and son, Colin Winget, both of Sacramento, Calif.; three sisters, Joni Durant of Flemington, Melodie Norris of Buford, Ga., and Cindi Blessing of Lawrenceville, Ga.; and three brothers, David Winget of Delaware Township, Stephen Winget of Schwenksville, Pa., and James Winget of Raleigh, N.C. Services were held Monday at Garrettson Road Church of Christ. Interment was in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Flemington under the direction of Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home of Flemington.
