RARITAN TWP. - Donna M. Lutzko Kelly died on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003 at Hunterdon Care Center. She was 58. Born and raised in Plainfield she was the daughter of Kathryn V. Mattox Lutzko. She lived in Readington Township before moving to Raritan Township. She was a practice manager at the Behavioral Health Department at the Hunterdon Medical Center for the past five years. Prior to that she worked at the Eye Center in Warren for 10 years as a business manager. Her mother died in April. She is survived by her sister Joy A. Garwood of Gettysburg., Pa. Funeral services are today at 11 a.m. at Countryside Funeral Home in Three Bridges. Burial is at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield. Calling hours are today 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Steve Ruggieri
WEST AMWELL TWP. - Steve Ruggieri died Sunday,Aug. 17, 2003 at his home. He was 89. Born in New York City, a son of Antonio and Grace Ciazzone Ruggieri, he had lived in Hopewell for 10 years and in West Amwell since 1955. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Lambertville. He served in the Army during World War II and was an active member of the Hopewell American Legion Post since 1946. A stone mason, for over 50 years Mr. Ruggieri was a member of the International Union of North America. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Grace Antinoro Ruggieri, five sons Joseph A. Ruggieri and Charles Ruggieri both at home, Stephen Ruggieri, of West Amwell, Anthony Ruggieri of Horsham Pa., and John Ruggieri of Stockton and four grandchildren. The funeral will be today at 9 a.m. from the Garefino Funeral Home in Lambertville. A Funeral Liturgy is set for 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church. LAKEWOOD - Frederick J. Potts died Aug. 12, 2003 at Kimball Medical Center here. He was 84. He was born in Readington Township, the son of Robert and Mary Johnson Potts. He had lived in Readington until 50 years ago. Since then, he had lived in Trenton, moving to Lakewood about 10 years ago. He was a farmer until retiring. He is survived by two sisters, Edna Sherry of Flemington and Lois Potts of Mesa, Ariz. Graveside services were held Friday in Newell Cemetery in Stanton under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home in Flemington.

Martha Kaleta
BLOOMSBURY - Martha Kaleta died Monday, Aug. 18, 2003 at the SCCI Hospital in Easton. She was 81. Born in Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Constantine and Julia Zugzda Goditus. She lived in Newark and Somerville before moving to Bloomsbury in 1977. Until her retirement, she was a licensed practical nurse employed by the Lyons VA Hospital in Lyons. She was a member of the Musconetcong Valley Presbyterian Church in Hampton. Her husband, August Kaleta, died in 1966. Mrs. Kaleta is survived by a daughter, Susan Holmes of Bloomsbury; two sisters, Bea Schadt of Florida and Margaret Kondrat of Indiana; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. READINGTON TWP. - Magdalen J. 'Gigi' Snyder died on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003 at her home. She was 83. Born in Flemington to John and Elizabeth Michelin Simon, she had lived in Readington Township for over 60 years. Until her retirement in 1982, she worked as a deli clerk at the Foodtown Supermarket in Raritan Township. Her husband, Paul, died in 1982. Ruth Palmer
STOCKTON - Ruth Mason Palmer died Aug. 13, 2003 at the Heritage Tower Retirement Community in Doylestown, Pa. She was 100. A daughter of William and Corabelle Ulmer Mason, she was a lifelong resident of Stockton. She was a lifelong member of the Berean Baptist Church and served as an officer of its Ladies Society. She also was a member and former officer of the Stockton Fire Company's Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the 500 Card Club in Stockton. She was the widow of Eugene J. Palmer with whom she shared 78 years of married life. She is survived by a daughter, Jean Schwartz of Hamilton Township, a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held Saturday at the Garefino Funeral Home in Lambertville. Burial followed in the Sandy Ridge Cemetery. Elizabeth McKaughan
KENNETT SQUARE, Pa. - Elizabeth Honness McKaughan, whose ancestors helped found the town of Clinton, died Aug. 12, 2003 at Crosslands Communities here. She was 99. She was born in Boonton, a daughter of George and Mary Van Syckle Leigh. Her mother's father, Bennet Van Syckle Leigh, at one time headed Clinton National Bank, the first bank in town, and town hall was once her grandmother's home. Leigh Street is named for the family. Ms. McKaughan (whose pen name was Elizabeth Honness) graduated from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. in 1926 and was managing editor of The American Girl, the publication of the Girl Scouts of America, 1934-1942. During the 1930s, her poetry was published in The Commonweal, Scribners and Town and Country. She began to write books for young children in 1936 and eventually wrote 20 books. After moving from New York City to Philadelphia in 1942, Ms. Honness switched tacks and began to write mystery stories for 8-12-year-olds. One was Mystery of the Hidden Face (1963), set in Clinton. In the 1950s, Ms. Honness wrote two volumes of Bible stories, commissioned by the Presbyterian Board of Christian Education. Her final book was a historical adventure, The Spy at Tory Hole (1975) set in Claremont, New Hampshire, near where she summered in New London, N.H. Mrs. McKaughan resided in Philadelphia from 1943 to 1973 when she moved to New London. In 1981 she moved back to Pennsylvania to settle at Crosslands, a life-care community in Kennett Square. Her husband, J. A. McKaughan, died in 1966 and a grandson, Nicholas Plummer, died in 2001. She is survived by her daughter, Molly McKaughan, of Montclair, and a granddaughter. A memorial service will be held later.

Walter Bauer
HOUSTON - A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 30 for Walter F. Bauer, who died April 5, 2003 in Herman Memorial Hospital in Houston after a short illness. He was 77. A graveside service will commence at the Newell Cemetery in Stanton at 10:30 a.m., followed by a time of food, story, song and spirit at YMCA Camp Carr in Clinton Township. Born in Somerville, he was the son of Henry and Jenny Dyerburg Bauer. He lived in Stanton until 1989 at which time he retired to travel full time with his wife in their motor home. Mr. Bauer was a warehouseman for the Ford Motor Co. assembly plant in Edison. He also worked for Hipple's Garage in Three Bridges. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mildred Rogers Bauer; two sons, James Bauer of Bloomsbury and Henry Bauer of Brookshire, Texas; a daughter, Kathleen Milligan of Houston, Texas; a sister, Louisa Cole of Centerville; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. EDISON - Roslyn Hyman died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield. She was 73. She was born in Paterson, the daughter of Sidney and Tillie Hyman. Graveside services were held on Monday at Flemington Jewish Community Cemetery in Flemington. Holcombe-Fisher Funeral home in Flemington made arrangements.

Lester Golden
RARITAN TWP. - Lester B. Golden died Aug. 14, 2003 at Morristown Memorial Hospital, after a short illness. He was 80. He was born in Pennington, the son of Lester and Olive Clark Golden, he lived in Stockton before moving to Raritan Township 40 years ago. An Army veteran of World War II, he received two bronze Battle Stars, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, the Victory Ribbon, the American Theater Ribbon and a Purple Heart. He was a lab technician for 25 years for American Cyanamid in Princeton, retiring in 1990. Mr. Golden was a member of Stockton Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of Y-Nots Camping Club, a 55-year member of Ruralities, a member of the Hopewell American Legion Post and a former member of the Hunterdon County YMCA Board of Directors. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth Dye Golden; a son, Wayne Golden of Hatboro, Pa.; two daughters, Judith Johnson of Erwinna, Pa. and Kathleen Reed of Flemington; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services were held Tuesday at Holcombe Fischer Funeral Home in Flemington. Burial was in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Flemington. Andrew Graham
TRENTON - Andrew A. Graham died Aug. 13, 2003 in the Pavilions at Forrestal in Plainsboro Township. He was 61. Born in Plainfield to Gordon and Marion McDonough Graham, he had lived in Hunterdon County before moving to Mercer County 27 years ago. He owned several businesses, including a Hess service station and Mack Tool, both in Trenton, and Courrier Service of Rocky Hill. An Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he was a 20-year member of the A.A, in which his affiliation helped many members. He also had a passion for auto racing. His mother died in 2000 and his father in 1986. He is survived by four sons, Scott A. of Hamilton Township, Navy Petty Officer Timothy Graham, of Newport News, Va., Patrick of Ewing Township and Christopher of Hopewell; two daughters, Katie and Laura Graham, both of South Dakota; three brothers, Gordon of High Bridge, David of Hunterdon County and Thomas of Jersey City; a special friend Sylvia Graham of Hamilton Township; and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday at Chambers D'Errico & Corenti Funeral Home in Trenton. Burial followed at Union Cemetery in Lebanon.

John Shirley Jr.
BRIDGEWATER - John A. Shirley Jr. died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003 at home. He was 71. Mr. Shirley was the father of Kathryn Ann Granger of Frenchtown. Born in Chester County, S.C., Mr. Shirley moved to Bridgewater in 1973. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina. He was employed as an electrical engineer by Western Electric Co.and then Bellcore in Piscataway until retiring in 1994. He was an avid fisherman. In addition to his daughter, he is survived by his wife, Ann Thomas Shirley; a son, John A. Shirley III; and three grandchildren. Lee Bisher Jr.
CLINTON TWP. - Lee Russell Bisher Jr. died Aug. 13, 2003 at home. He was 44. The cause of death remains under investigation because it was an unattended death. He was born in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Lee Russell Bisher and Dorothea Katherine Elizabeth Michell Bisher. He resided in Clinton Township for the past five years, having previously lived in Califon, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Raritan Township. He was a home improvement specialist with CJ Construction in Hunterdon and previously worked as a cabinet maker. He formerly owned and operated a saw mill in Bethlehem Township. He was also a licensed professional diver and dive instructor and ship's captain. In addition to his mother, of Raritan Township, he is survived by two sisters, Helen Dorothy Bisher and Margaret Bisher, both of Raritan Township. Funeral services were held yesterday at Calvary Episcopal Church in Flemington. Burial was in Fountain Grove Cemetery in Glen Gardner under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home in Flemington. Peter Ronzo
WHITEHOUSE STATION - Peter Ronzo died Aug. 14, 2003 after his sport utility vehicle crashed into the front of Stony Brook Elementary School in Branchburg Township. He was 46. A secretary who was sitting near the window was slightly injured, police said. Citing the medical examiner's report, Somerset County Prosecutor Wayne Forrest said that Mr. Ronzo had three clogged arteries to his heart, and he had a heart attack while driving his Jeep Cherokee on Pine Ridge Road near Stony Brook School around 4 p.m. The heart attack probably left him unconscious, causing him to veer off Pine Ridge Road. He then traveled on to the lawn of a residence, across Cedar Grove Road, over the curb line and on to the property of the school, where he crashed into the front offices, Mr. Forrest said. Mr. Ronzo, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained multiple injuries which were the cause of death, the prosecutor said. Born in Plainfield, Mr. Ronzo was the son of Dominic and Felicia Ronzo. With his wife Judy Seagull Ronzo, he was co-owner of Main Street Construction Co., a custom builder in Branchburg. They began the company in 1999. Mr. Ronzo was a member of North Branch Reformed Church. He was a member of the Bridgewater Gun Club and an associate member of the Branchburg Fraternal Order of Police. Mr. Ronzo's hobbies were hunting, fishing and boating. His sister, Dianne Ronzo Chabak, died in 2001. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Natalie Ronzo at home; three stepsons, Ed Szeliga, Alex Szeliga and Dan Szeliga, all at home; and a stepdaughter, Michelle Links of Piscataway. A memorial service was held Tuesday at the North Branch Reformed Church. Arrangements were under the direction of Sheenan Funeral Home in Dunellen. John McPherson
DELAWARE TWP. - John S. McPherson died on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003 after suffering a heart attack while camping in Pennsylvania. He was 62. Born in Somerville to Stanley 'Spike' and Marion E. Taylor McPherson, he was raised in Raritan Township. He lived in Delaware Township the past 41 years. John owned and operated S. McPherson & Son, an excavating company, for the past 23 years. He worked with his father in the family business from 1959 until acquiring the company. He was a member and former trustee of the Amwell Church of the Brethren in Sand Brook. He was a Shriner, a Mason and Past Worshipful Master of the Darcy Lodge in Flemington. He was a member of the Flemington Elks Lodge, president of the Sand Brook Cemetery Association, president of the Jersey Gypsies Camping Club and a member of the Board of Health in Delaware Township. He was honorably discharged from the National Guard. Surviving are his wife, Dale R. Waldron McPherson; two daughters, Sherry Ferello and Christine Opdyke, and a son John Michael McPherson, all of Delaware Township; a brother James T. McPherson of Raritan Township; two sisters Rebecca Parks of Lahaska, Pa. and Melody LoAlbo of Clinton; and two granddaughters. The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home in Three Bridges. Burial will be at Sand Brook Cemetery. MARYVILLE, Tenn. - Beulah Pursell died Aug. 12, 2003 at Colonial Hills Nursing Center, Maryville, Tenn. She was 87. Born in West Virginia, she was a daughter of William and Emma (Stockwell) Gibson. She was a member of Springview Baptist Church. Her husband, Lawrence Pursell, died earlier. She had no immediate survivors. A graveside service was held Monday at Milford Union Cemetery. Thomas Savage
WEST AMWELL TWP. - Thomas Joseph Savage III died on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003 at the Princeton Medical Center. He was 63. He was born in Elizabeth to Thomas and Rita Logan Savage. He was a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and the American Bar Association, and served as attorney for the West Amwell Board of Education. He received his bachelor of arts degree from St. Peter's College in Jersey City and his juris doctorate from Rutgers School of Law. He was a partner in the law firm of Savage and Serio .A. in West Amwell Township since 1982. He was board member of the Hunterdon County American Cancer Society and a past chairman of the Ethics Committee of the Hunterdon County bar. He helped organize the union for the New Jersey State Police and was the a former first assistant prosecutor in the state Attorney General's Office. Surviving are his wife of 13 years, Dawn Serio Savage; a son, Thomas at home; a sister, Patricia Savage Ennis of Bufton, S.C. and a brother, Terrance of Sacramento, Calif. A mass will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lambertville. Entombment will follow at the St. Magdalen Mausoleum in Flemington. RARITAN TWP. - Major L. Exley died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003 at home. He was 69. Born in Easton, he was the son of Clifford and Maud Dearden Exley. He had resided in Raritan Township for the past 36 years. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Exley was an electronic equipment specialist with RCA Corp. in Bridgewater, retiring in 1997. He was a member of St. Phillip's Church in New Hope. He was a life member of the Flemington American Legion, where he served as chaplain for many years. A sister, Gloria Matich, died earlier. Mr. Exley is survived by his wife of 48 years , Marilyn Gretta Exley; three daughters, Linda Miller of Baptistown, Ginger Sabo of Flemington and Jill Mulvey of Raritan Township; a brother, Victor Exley of Easton; a sister, June Barry of Altoona, Pa.; and seven grandchildren. Dorothy Hewitt
FAR HILLS - Dorothy Hewitt died on Aug. 21, 2003, at Hunterdon Medical Center. She was 77. Born in Chester she lived in Far Hills before entering the Rolling Hills Care Center in Clinton Township six years ago. She was a sales clerk employed by Woolworth's in Bernardsville for 15 years, retiring in 1985. She had been a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Union Hook and Ladder Co. No. 1 of Far Hills-Bedminster. Sh had also been a member of the Bedminster Reformed Church and its Women's Guild. She is survived by her husband, Edward R. Hewitt; three sons Richard of Mine Hill, Kenneth of Chester and Donald of Califon; two daughters, Leatrice Hill of Bedminster and Karen Hewitt of Somerville; a sister Shirley Hulcher of Hackettstown; 17 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Services were held Monday at the Layton Funeral Home in Bedminster. Interment was at Rosemont Cemetery. Thomas Roan
UPPER BLACK EDDY, Pa. - Thomas J. Roan died Aug. 19, 2003, at home. He was 77. Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., he was a son of James P. and Marie Toole Roan. He graduated from East Stroudsburg (Pa.) University with a B.S. in health education and received an M.S. in education from Rutgers University in New Brunswick. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Roan was vice principal of Maxon Junior High School in Plainfield, where he worked for 30 years before retiring in 1985. He was a teacher and coach before becoming vice principal. Mr. Roan was a member of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Milford, and its Golden Agers group. He was a former member of Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church in Baptistown, and Our Lady of the Mount Catholic Church in Warren. He served as a Eucharistic minister at all three churches and taught religious education at Our Lady of the Mount Church. After his retirement, Mr. Roan volunteered fulltime at the Association for Retarded Citizens in Somerset for five years. He was past president of the Riegel Ridge Community Seniors and a member of the Kitchenaires. He also was a member of the Somerset County Hounds for Harmony and the Hunterdon Harmonizers. He enjoyed the outdoors, was an avid practical joker and loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, the former Helen T. Kane; five sons, Thomas J. Jr. of Jupiter, Fla., Edward of Dunellen, James of Bridgewater, Timothy of Woodbury, and Gerald of Mount Bethel, Pa.; three daughters, Nora M. Coss of Monroe Township, Mary T. Grawehr of Roxbury, and Ellen J. Franolich of Moorestown; two brothers, William of Bedford, Va., and Anthony of Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; and 17 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Mary Roan, in 1952, and by a brother, James Roan. Services were held Saturday from W.E. Johnson Funeral Home in Holland Township, followed by a Funeral Liturgy at St. Edward the Confessor Church. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township, Pa. Tadeusz Milosz
LAKEWOOD - Tadeusz Milosz died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003 of congestive heart failure, at the home of his daughter, Longia Miller in Clinton. He was 77. Mr. Milosz had been recuperating from a stroke and several vascular surgeries done last year. He and his wife, Anna, both came from Poland. They met in a German work camp during World War II, where they were prisoners of war for five years. The couple relocated to France after the war and lived there until 1954 when they immigrated to the U.S. They settled in Lakewood in 1959. Mr. Milosz worked at Brockway Glass Co. in Freehold for 20 years, retiring in 1980. He worked as a coal miner while living in France. He is survived by his wife, now of Clinton; three daughters, Ms. Miller, Lucie Haskins of Woodland Park, Colo., and Alicia Milosz of New York City; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild. A Funeral Liturgy was held on Monday at St. Mary's of the Lake Catholic Church in Lakewood. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery in Lakewood. Arrangements were under the direction of Kearns Funeral Home of Whitehouse.

Robert Koehler
HOLLAND TWP. - Robert A. Koehler died Monday, Aug. 25, 2003 at Hunterdon Medical Center. He was 59. Born in Perth Amboy, he was the son of Gordon and Virginia Reznichak Koehler. He lived in Middlesex before moving to Holland Township 26 years ago. He was a graduate of Rider College in Lawrenceville where he earned a bachelor's degree in education, a master's degree in guidance and a certificate in administration. He was an All American Baseball Pitcher for Rider and still holds records. He was inducted into the Rider College Athletic Hall of Fame in February. Mr. Koehler played baseball in the Washington Senators minor league system. He was a Spanish teacher for three years at Dunellen High School and was then a guidance counselor in the East Brunswick High School District for 32 years, retiring in 2001. He was a baseball coach at Dunellen High School and East Brunswick Junior High. He was a substitute teacher since 2001 and a JV baseball coach at Palisades School district in Kintnersville, Pa. He coached softball for six years at the Riegel Ridge YMCA in Holland Township. He was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Perth Amboy. He enjoyed collecting trains and gardening. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Eleonore Kretschmer Koehler; two daughters, Karin Elvis of Holland Township and Kelly Koehler of Milford; a brother, Gordon Koehler, Jr. of Annandale and a grandson. A memorial service will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. at W.E. Johnson Funeral Home in Holland Township. Calling hours will be tonight from 7 to 9 and tomorrow morning from 9 until the time of the service in the funeral home.
