Ida Bell Baker
LEWES, Del. - Ida Bell Baker, formerly of Lambertville, died on Oct. 29, 2002 at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. She was 81. Born in Trenton, she was the daughter of Elmer and Lydia Wall Jones. She lived most her life in Lambertville, moving to Lewes six years ago. She was a retired supervisor at Belmont Forwarders in Lambertville. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lambertville. She was a member of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Hibernia Fire Company in Lambertville, the Ladies' Auxiliary of the American Legion Post in Oak Orchard-Riverdale, Del., and the Lewes Senior Citizens. She was predeceased by a brother, Elmer Jones, and a sister, Alice Jones. She is survived by a daughter, Evelyn Holbert of Warrington, Pa., four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Thompson Memorial Church Cemetery in Solebury Pa., under the direction of Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home in Lambertville. Jeremiah J. Baumgartner Jr.
WARREN TWP. - Jeremiah J. Baumgartner Jr. died Oct. 31, 2002, at Hunterdon Medical Center. He was 68. He was the father of Joseph J. Baumgartner of Bethlehem Township. Born in Newark, he was the son of Jeremiah J. and Margaret Potter Baumgartner. Before moving to Warren Township in 1955, he lived in Irvington. He was a self-employed heating, ventilation and air conditioning contractor before retiring in 2000. He and his wife, Arlene Stonecipher Baumgartner, celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on Sept. 26. He was predeceased by a brother, Charles Baumgartner, in 1992 and a sister, Catherine Baumgartner. In addition to his wife and son, he is survived by another son, Timothy of Oxford Township; a sister, Margaret Brisebois of South Plainfield, and three grandchildren. Services were held Nov. 4 at Layton Funeral Home in Bedminster.

Lillian J. Cadra
RARITAN TWP. - Lillian J. Cadra died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002, at Hunterdon Medical Center. She was 73. Born in New York City, she was the daughter of Emil and Mary Jirsa Beyer. She was a graduate of Long Island University. She lived in Raritan Township for 41 years. She had been a teller at the former Hunterdon County National Bank in Flemington. She was a member of Flemington Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, John; a daughter, Caren Cadra of Basking Ridge, a son, Peter of Hillsborough, and two grandchildren. Harold R. Clawson
RINGOES - Harold R. Clawson died Oct. 31, 2002 at Hunterdon Care Center in Raritan Township. He was 88. Born in Rocktown, he was the son of Raymond and Mary Golden Clawson, and lived in East Amwell Township most of his life. He graduated from Central High School in Pennington in 1935. Mr. Clawson was a lifelong farmer. His family farmstead on Old York Road in Ringoes was sold to the township several years ago to become Marion H. Clawson Park in memory of his wife. The park is being developed to become a recreation area within walking distance of Ringoes center. Mr. Clawson was formerly a township building inspector, a school bus driver for Hunterdon Central High School, and then a custodian at Central from 1982 to 1992, when he retired. He was a member of Kirkpatrick Memorial Presbyterian Church in Ringoes. A charter member of the Amwell Valley Ambulance Corps, he was also the oldest member of the Amwell Valley Fire Company Exempt Fireman's Association. His wife died in 1990. He is survived by four daughters, Virginia Perkovich and Sarah Perkovich, both of East Amwell Township, Barbara Pershyn of Big Pine Key, Fla., and Linda Fisher of Virginia Beach, Va.; a son, Richard of Ewing Township; a brother, John of Whiting; 12 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Services were held Nov. 5 at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home in Flemington, followed by burial in Harbourton Cemetery. Rose M. DiMartino
BRIDGEWATER - Rose M. DiMartino died Saturday, Nov.2, 2002, at Hunterdon Medical Center. She was 83. Mrs. DiMartino was the mother of Anita Diegnan of Tewksbury Township. Born in Foggia, Italy, she came to the United States at age 5. She lived in Union for many years and moved to West Palm Beach, Fla., for 23 years. She came back to New Jersey three years ago. Mrs. DiMartino worked for the Lionel Corp. for 19 years and for the Rosarian Academy in West Palm Beach for 15 years. She retired in 1999. Her husband, Daniel, died in 1989. In addition to her daughter, she is survived by a son, Daniel of Las Vegas; three sisters, Louise Capozzi and Anna Grecco, both of Bridgewater, and Florence Cotugno of Toms River, and three grandchildren. A liturgy service took place Nov. 6 at Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church in Whitehouse Station. Kearns Funeral Home in Whitehouse was in charge of arrangements. Kimberly A. Kohl
HAMPTON - Kimberly A. Kohl died Sept. 28, 2002, at Morristown Memorial Hospital. She was 30. Born in Phillipsburg, she was the daughter of Lyndon and Linda Shafer Kohl. She worked for Holland Hitch in Lebanon, where she did data entry work. She is survived by her parents, of Palmer Township, Pa.; a daughter, Taylor, a son, Tyler, and two brothers, Jesse and Jonathon Kohl. Funeral services were held Oct. 5 at Curran-Finegan Funeral Home in Wilson Borough, Pa., and interment was at Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Township. Eleanor S. Mason
CLINTON TWP. - Eleanor S. Mason died Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, at Hunterdon Medical Center. She was 86. She was born and raised in Philadelphia, the daughter of John and Anna Matt Shea. Mrs. Mason lived in Clinton Township for the past year. Prior to that she spent 27 years in Kennett Square, Pa. She and her family resided in Springfield Township, Pa.; Wheaton, Ill.; Middletown Township and Basking Ridge before moving to Kennett Square. Mrs. Mason obtained her teaching certificate at Philadelphia Normal School and attended the University of Pennsylvania. She taught school in Philadelphia. Mrs. Mason was an avid flower gardener and bridge player. She sang soprano in several parish choirs and especially enjoyed Latin High Masses. She wrote poetry, often employing that method for notes to friends. In her youth, she ran track and climbed ropes. Until her recent illness, Mrs. Mason lived in her own home and was still driving. Her husband of 54 years, Richard Peters Mason, died in May 1999. A brother, William Shea, died many years ago, She is survived by her daughter, Marie Franklin Marsh of Pittstown; her sister, Alice Reardon of Jenkintown, Pa.; two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. A funeral liturgy will be held Nov. 8 at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Franklin Township. Friends will be received at the church after 9:30 a.m. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Philadelphia under the direction of the Shea Funeral Home of that city.

Elizabeth Bacon
PATTENBURG - Elizabeth "Betty" Bacon died on Oct. 29, 2002, at Rolling Hills Care Center in Clinton Township. She was 75. Born in Barnsley, England to Thomas and Elizabeth Lyons Green, she moved to the United States in 1952. She lived in Hackettstown before moving to Pattenburg over 25 years ago. Mrs. Bacon served in the British Army, stationed in Germany after World War II. She was a correctional officer for the prison in Union Township now called the Edna Mahan Corrrectional Facility for Women, until retiring. She was a member of the Union Township Senior Club and was a driver for Meals on Wheels in Hunterdon County. She is survived by a brother, Peter Green of Scotland. A service was held Nov. 2 at Martin Funeral Home in Clinton. Interment followed at Union Cemetery at Grandin.

Donald H. Kuhl
READINGTON TWP. - Donald H. Kuhl died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002 at Hunterdon Medical Center. He was 85. He was born in Flemington, the son of George and Anna Holcombe Kuhl, and lived in Flemington all his life before moving to Readington Township four years ago. He was a retired self-employed carpenter. He was a member of the Flemington Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder, a deacon, a Sunday School teacher and a member of the Dart Team. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member and past master of Grandview Grange of Flemington. He was a 1936 graduate of Flemington High School. He is survived by his wife, the former Thelma Zielstorff; two daughters, Darlene Hoopes of La Canada, Calif., and Elizabeth Doby of Flemington; a son, Donald of Easton; a brother, G. Marvin of Santa Barbara, Calif., and three grandchildren. Services were held Nov. 7 at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home in Flemington. Burial was at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Flemington.

Judith Ann Lewis
LAMBERTVILLE - Judith Ann Lewis died on Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, at home. She was 63. Born in Lambertville to Frank and Betty Hartpence, she was a lifelong city resident. She retired from Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Co. in Trenton in 1988. She was a member of the Lambertville Drum and Bugle Corps and the Lambertville Chapter of the Deborah Heart and Lung Hospital. Surviving are her two daughters, Karen Heinemann of Lambertville and Patricia Proscia of Levittown, Pa.; three sisters, Betty Lou Brown of Lambertville, Frances Kelson of Annandale and Margaret Kusant of Stockton; a brother, Wayne Hartpence of Asbury, and four grandchildren. Services were scheduled Nov. 7 at Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home in Lambertville. Interment will follow at Holcombe-Riverview Cemetery in Delaware Township. Josephine Mitchell
ANNANDALE - Josephine M. Mitchell died on Monday, Nov. 4, 2002 at Hunterdon Medical Center. She was 87. Born in Annandale to Raymond and Bessie Reid McConnell, she was a life-long village resident. She was employed by the Clinton Township school system all her working career, teaching kindergarten for many years and first grade at one time at the Red Brick School in Annandale. She also served as its principal. She retired in June 1980 after 45 years of service. The Board of Education renamed the school the Josephine Mitchell School in her honor. Mrs. Mitchell was a graduate of Newark Normal School. She was a member of the Hunterdon Hills Lioness Club and later the Hunterdon Hills Lions Club. She was a member of the Annandale Reformed Church. She sang in the church choir for many years and was also a member of the Women's Society of the church. A sister, Helen Deckhut, died in January of this year. Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Harry; a brother, Walter McConnell of Annandale, and a sister, Gladys Whiteley of High Bridge. Services were scheduled Nov. 7 at Annandale Reformed Church, followed by burial at Union Cemetery in Lebanon. Arrangements are by Coughlin Funeral Home in Califon. Mary Lou Mullen
LAMBERTVILLE - Mary Lou Mullen died on Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, at home. She was 70. Born in Lambertville to Lewis and Mary Bender Brown, she was a life-long city resident. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lambertville. Her husband, Anthony, three brothers, Edward Brown, Leonard Brown and Louis Brown, and a sister, Dorothy Joseph, all died before her. Surviving are a daughter, Susan Hornyak of Trenton; a sister, Frances Ege of Lambertville, and two grandchildren. Services were held Nov. 6 at Garefino Funeral Home in Lambertville. Burial followed at St. John's Cemetery in Lambertville.

Anita A. Briggs
CLIFTON - Anita A. Briggs died on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002. Born in High Bridge, she was the daughter of Ross and Hazel Drake Conover. She lived in Glen Gardner for 20 years before moving to Clifton. She graduated in three years from Hampton High School and then attended Drake Business School. She graduated with high honors from St. Barnabas Hospital School of Nursing. She loved nursing, and her career included working as the evening nurse supervisor at Clara Mass Hospital and East Orange General Hospital. She also worked in the emergency room at Hackensack Hospital and for 18 years in the emergency room at Passaic General Hospital. Her hobbies included reading, and collecting china and porcelain figurines. She had a love for fashion and decorating. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, William; and two sons, William A. Jr. and Robert R. Services were scheduled Nov. 7 at Martin Funeral Home in Clinton. Interment was to be at Spruce Run Cemetery in Lebanon Township.

Luther E. Smith
MELBOURNE BEACH, Fla. - Former Raritan Township Committeeman and Pearl Harbor survivor Luther E. Smith died Oct. 6, 2002, at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne. He was 80. He was born in Flemington, and had lived the past 15 years in Melbourne Beach, Fla. He served in the Army Air Corps from September 1940 to December 1945 and was a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Mr. Smith was only a mile from Pearl Harbor when the attack came on Dec. 7, 1941. He was a technical sergeant serving as wire chief in the communications center at Hickam Field in Oahu, Hawaii. More than 300 men died at Hickam Field during the attack. After the attack, the communications center was moved to a tunnel in the hills, where Mr. Smith worked underground for more than a year. Mr. Smith worked for 40 years with New Jersey Telephone, later called United Telephone and Sprint. He served as a Raritan Township committeeman from November 1965 to January 1967. He was an active member of the Flemington Elks and was a retired volunteer fireman in Flemington. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Elizabeth A. Hawk; a daughter, Jill Patrice Oddis, and two grandchildren. A memorial service was scheduled Nov. 10 at Outdoor Resorts Community Center in Melbourne Beach, Fla. Arrangements were made by South Brevard Funeral Home in Melbourne.

Joan K. Weinstein
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - Joan K. Weinstein died Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, at Palm Beach Gardens Hospital. She was 73. A former resident of Bridgewater, she had homes in Palm Beach Gardens and Jay, N.Y. Mrs. Weinstein was a co-owner of Presco Food Products for many years. The company, which processes and mixes spices for food manufacturers, was in Flemington for more than 40 years until moving to Raritan Township in 1996. Her son, Steven, died in 1984. She is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Stanley; two daughters, Kathy Palmer of Annandale and Susan Albert of Pittstown; a brother, Richard Kenyon of Gilbert, Pa., formerly of Clinton, and four grandchildren. Services were held Tuesday at Or Chadash Temple in Readington Township. Arrangements were made by Sha'Arei Shamayim Chapel in Somerville. Ann Chociej
BRANCHBURG TWP. - Ann Chociej died Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, at Hunterdon Medical Center. She was 82. Born in Camden, she was the daughter of Emilio and Angeline Grasso Dignazio. She formerly resided in Flemington for 10 years and then in Branchburg Township for seven years. Mrs. Chociej was a homemaker. Her husband, Benjamin, died in 1995 and a daughter, Carol Heinemeyer, died in 1996. Mrs. Chociej is survived by three daughters, Leonore Montller of Scotch Plains, Theresa Calabrese of Flemington and Rebecca Dittrich of Hillsborough; four brothers, Richard Dignazio of Toms River, Robert Dignazio of East Newark, John Dignazio of Cherry Hill and Raymond Dignazio of Venice, Fla.; nine grandchildren, and one great-grandson. A funeral liturgy was held Nov. 6 at St. Magdalen Catholic Church in Flemington. Interment was at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery in Arneytown, under the direction of Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home in Flemington. Christine M. Conner
OLDWICK - Christine M. Conner died Oct. 30, 2002, at Hunterdon Medical Center. She was 71. Born in Scotland, she was a daughter of Alexander and Catherine McIntosh Lewis. She lived in Kearny before moving to Oldwick 49 years ago. Mrs. Conner was a homemaker. Her daughter, Karen Spencer, died in 2001. Surviving are her husband, Wilbur; two sons, Brian of Cokesbury and Kenneth of Long Valley; a daughter, Sandra Ogris of Hampton Bay, Long Island; three brothers, Bill Lewis, Alec Lewis and Stuart Lewis, all of Scotland; three sisters; Mary Sweeney and Ella Ramsey, both of Scotland, and Cathie Brennan of England, and 12 grandchildren. Jane C. Dickinson
PLACERVILLE, Calif. - Jane Carolyn Dickinson died Oct. 29, 2002 at Placerville Pines Convalescent Hospital in Placerville, Calif. She was 73. Born in Paris, Tenn., she was the daughter of Charles and Mildred Daniels Dinkins. She lived in Matawan and New Brunswick before moving to Placerville. Mrs. Dickinson was a self-employed court transcriber. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in California. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Donald W. of Placerville; her son, Warren, also of Placerville; her daughter, Carolyn Jane Daly of Sonoma, Calif.; and three grandchildren. She had friends and family throughout Hunterdon County. Funeral services were held Nov. 4 at Martin Funeral Home in Clinton, followed by burial in Riverside Cemetery in Clinton.

Colleen Daly Ehlers
NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. - Colleen Daly Ehlers of New Port Richey, Fla. died Oct. 17, 2002, at Community Hospital in New Port Richey. She was 45. Born in Plainfield, she was the daughter of Edward and Joan Daly. She grew up in Whitehouse, where she lived most of her life before moving to Nashua, N.H., then to New Port Richey 15 years ago. She worked as an administrative assistant for Fimbel Door in Whitehouse Station and later worked in Nashua. She was currently working for Checkpoint Security in Tampa, Fla. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her brother, John Daly. She is survived by two sons, Stephen Jr. and Ryan, both of Birmingham, Mich.; one brother, Michael Daly of Three Bridges, and two sisters, Erin Cameron of Milford and Robin Menapace of Flemington. A memorial service was scheduled Nov. 9 at 11 a.m. at Kearns Funeral Home in Whitehouse.

Richard T. Eisele
PITTSTOWN - Richard T. Eisele died Oct. 30, 2002. He was 49. Born in Raritan Township he was the son of Richard and Kathryn Spencer Eisele. He was an auto mechanic, and was once a part-time police officer in Franklin Township. He is survived by his daughter, Alyssa Eisele, and a son, Thomas, both of Engelwood, Fla.; a brother, Joseph of Woodhull, N.Y. and a sister, Karen Foor of Flemington. Graveside services were held Monday at St. Magdalen Catholic Cemetery in Flemington under the direction of Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home in Flemington.

Michelle F. Golden
HATBORO, Pa. - Michelle F. Golden died Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, at home. She was 50. Her husband, Wayne B., is the son of Betty and Brad Golden of Raritan Township. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of James and Margaret Malloy Franklin. She lived in Hatboro for the last 13 years after living in Warrington, Pa. She was a licensed practical nurse, and prior to becoming disabled had been employed at Abington Memorial Hospital and Luther Woods Nursing Home. In addition to her husband, she is survived by six brothers, James, John, Christopher, Richard, Brian and Donald Franklin; a step-son, Ross Golden; a step-daughter, Holly Golden, and a step-grandson. Funeral services were scheduled Nov. 8 at 1 p.m. at Shelly Funeral Home in Warrington. Interment was to be at Pennington Cemetery.

Ruth H. Mikesell
DOVER, Del. - Ruth H. Mikesell died Oct. 21, 2002. She was 79. She was born in Toledo, Ohio, and lived in Westfield before moving to Clinton in 1973. She moved to Dover in 1987. Her husband Harry was a councilman in Clinton from 1976 to 1985. She was office manager of the registrar's office at Union College in Cranford for 15 years before retiring. She was a past president of the Clinton Women's Club and an officer of the Century Club of Dover. She volunteered at the Dover Air Force Base pharmacy. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, William of Newark; two daughters, Virginia Curtiss of Mountainside and Joan Bloomer of Clinton; a sister, Jeanne Campbell of Columbus, Ohio, and two grandchildren. Services were held Oct. 25 at Delaware Veterans Memorial Chapel. A memorial service was scheduled Nov. 8 at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Church in Dover. Richard H. Naylor
SEASIDE PARK - Richard H. Naylor died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at The Medical Center of Ocean County, Brick Hospital Division in Brick. He was the father of Linda Shoemaker of Lambertville and Susan Makara of Stockton. The son of Harry and Ethel Murphy Naylor, Mr. Naylor was born in Trenton and moved to Seaside Park in 1988. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a plumber with W.V. Stewart & Son plumbing and heating in Hamilton until retiring in 1985. He was past president and 45-year member of the Eleventh Zone Emergency Rescue Unit in Trenton. His wife, Bette Lillian Johnson Naylor, died previously. In addition to his daughters, he is survived by another daughter, Gail Kearns of Hamilton; a son, Richard Jr. of Newtown, Pa.; a brother Harry of Hamilton; a sister, Joan Brezezynski of West Windsor, and eight grandchildren. Services were held yesterday at Brenna Funeral Home in Hamilton. Burial was in Colonial Memorial Park in Hamilton. Memorial contributions can be sent to The Children's Home Society, 635 S. PARROTSVILLE, Tenn. - Robert J. Stollenmaier died Oct. 29, 2002, in Parrotsville. He was 39. He was the son of Rudy and Mary Lou Stollenmaier. Raised in Boonton, he moved to Longmont, Colo., before moving to Parrotsville. He graduated from Boonton High School and Denver Auto Body and Diesel in Colorado. He was auto body painter and restorer. He was instrumental in starting the Long Creek Fire Department in Parrotsville. He is survived by his mother, of Parrotsville; his father and step-mother, Rudy and Joann Stollenmaier of Clinton; a son, Robbie of Morristown, Tenn.; two step-daughters, Sandra Lockhart and Sheri King of Morristown, Tenn.; five brothers, Rudy of Parrotsville, Michael of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Jack of Pauley's Island, S.C., Tony of Greenville, Tenn., and Patrick of Asheville, N.C.; four sisters, Jill Fanelli and Donna Rupert, both of Parrotsville, Kim Iannitto of Bridgewater and Tara Stollenmaier of Jackson, and five grandchildren.
