THOMAS C. RAFAEL, 56, of Monroe, formerly of Old Bridge, died Sept. 19 at home. Surviving are his wife, Fran Lanaia Rafael; two daughters, Diana Stanziale of Middletown and Suzanne Rafael of Monroe; a son, Thomas C. Rafael Jr. of Monroe; his mother, Rita Rafael of Ormond Beach, Fla.; two brothers, William Rafael of Staten Island, N.Y., and the Rev. Nicholas Rafael of Jamestown, N.Y.; a sister, Mary Rita Faenza of Ormond Beach; and three grandsons. Services were arranged by Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick, with a Mass at Holy Trinity Church, Helmetta. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
NORMAN E. RINEHART, 75, of Spotswood died Sept. 20 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are two daughters, Diane Cowen of Wayne and Linda Oakes of the Marlton section of Evesham; a sister, Margaret Clemente of South Dennis, Mass.; five grandchildren; and his ex-wife, Sylvia Pannone Rinehart. Services were held at Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick. Cremation was private. KIRYL STRESZ, 96, of East Brunswick died Sept. 19 at home. He was predeceased by his wife, Olga Liubanec Stresz. Surviving are a son, William of Rochester, N.Y.; a daughter, Mary Troicki of East Brunswick; a sister, Nina Soyka of Belarus; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Arrangements were under the direction of Maliszewski Funeral Home, South River, with a service at St. Euphrosynia Belarus Orthodox Church, South River. Interment was in the church cemetery.
THOMAS R. BOHNYAK, 50, of Falls City, Ore., formerly of South River, died Sept. 16 at home. Surviving are his wife, Diane; a son, Thomas James "T.J."; his mother, Olga Bohnyak of Randolph, Vt.; a brother, William Bohnyak, also of Randolph; a sister, Julie Zielenkievicz of East Brunswick; and several nieces and nephews. VIOLET GOLDESKI, 76, of East Brunswick died Sept. 28 in St. Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are a sister, Julia Wiederkehr of Ohio. VICTOR "FUZZY" MUZYKA, 59, of South River died Sept. 25 in Mercy Hospital, Port Jervis, N.Y. Surviving are a son, Michael Muzyka of the Lake Hiawatha section of Parsippany-Troy Hills; two daughters, Tatiana Muzyka of East Brunswick and Natasha Muzyka Gadway of Johnsburg, N.Y.; his mother, Maria Shebalko of South River; a brother, Nicholas Muzyka of South River; and a granddaughter. PAUL M. ZAWADSKY, 87, of South River died Sept. 22 in Roosevelt Hospital, Edison. Surviving are his wife, Nancy Senko Zawadsky; a daughter, Nadia Silva; a brother, Peter Zawadsky; a godson, Paul Kissel Jr.; and a granddaughter. GENEVIEVE POPOWSKI GAVRON, 89, of Sayreville died Sept. 24 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Her husband, Zigmond Gavron, died in 1970. Surviving are a son, Raymond Gavron of South Carolina; four daughters, Sister Joan Gavron, R.S.M., Laverne Bauer and Mary Ann Gavron, both of Sayreville, and Doris Evanovich of the Toms River section of Dover; a sister, Estelle Lichtenstein of East Brunswick; seven grandchildren; and seven grandchildren. LILLIE F. PIVIROTTO MORAN, 70, of the Parlin section of Sayreville died Sept. 27 in St. Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick. Her husband, Frederick C. Moran, died in 1986. Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Biancamano of Spotswood; a son, Brian Moran of Millstone; two brothers, Lawrence and Norman Pivirotto, both of Pittsburgh; and five grandchildren. VERA E. BUCKALEW TWARDOS, 75, of Sayreville died Sept. 25 at home. Her husband, Edward Twardos, died in 1986. Surviving are two sons, Edward Twardos Jr. of Spotswood and John Twardos of Temperance, Mich.; five daughters, Margaret Kuchta of Jamesburg, Joan Vargo of Sayreville, Judith Farnish of the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick, Roseann Jadczak of Oakfield, Tenn., and Lettitia Wanson of East Brunswick; two sisters, Joan Benson of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Phyllis Stann of Clearwater, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. JAMES PATRICK CAMPBELL JR., 68, of Old Bridge died Sept. 26 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Surviving are his wife, Anita Pisaneschi Campbell; a daughter, Susan Marie Campbell of Old Bridge; two sons, James P. Campbell III of the Somerset section of Franklin and Michael J. Campbell of Alexandria Township; a brother, Thomas Campbell of Pensacola, Fla.; a sister, Maryjo Popson of Wilkes Barre, Pa.; and two grandchildren. EVELYN MAE HEIMEL COYLE, 74, of South Amboy died Sept. 23 at home. Surviving are her husband, Harry D. Coyle; a son, Harold W. Coyle of Fairfax, Va.; two daughters, Leslie Ann Coyle of Sayreville and Jacqueline Vlahos of Woodbridge; and three grandchildren. DOMINICK "ROCKY" DE MATTEO, 88, of Sayreville died Sept. 27 at home. His wife, Agnes McCutcheon De Matteo, died in 1961. He was the owner of Crestview Motors, Sayreville. Surviving are a son, Dominick R. "Nick" of the Parlin section of Sayreville; a daughter, Linda De Matteo of Farmingdale; eight sisters, Rita Jiosne of the Cliffwood section of Aberdeen, Polly Calacari of Keyport, Rose Mancini of Maine, Vera Tenore of Florida, Anne Dietrich, Theresa Stabile and Mary Kelley, all of the Whiting section of Manchester, and Camille Langan of Middletown; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services were held at Maliszewski Memorial Home, Sayreville. Interment was in New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin.
SUSAN O'REILLY HETHERINGTON, 99, of Old Bridge died Sept. 23 in Old Bridge Manor. Her husband, Thomas, died in 1990, and a daughter, Mary Ellen Hetherington, died in 1929. Surviving are three sons, John Hetherington of East Brunswick, Paul Hetherington of Wilton, Conn., and James Hetherington of Scottsdale, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Services were arranged by Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick, with a Mass at St. Bartholomew Church, East Brunswick. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Queens, N.Y.
ANN JURCISIN JANDRIS, 79, of the Parlin section of Sayreville died Sept. 23 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Her husband, Frank J. Jandris, died in 1997. Surviving are a son, Frank J. Jandris Jr., and a daughter, Susan Jandris, both of Parlin; three brothers, Joseph Jurcisin of Bloomfield, John Jurcisin of Freehold and William Jurcisin of Bayonne; and three sisters, Marie Sweeney of Parlin, and Eleanor Reynolds and Alice Jurcisin, both of Bayonne. ALICE KITCHEN, 86, of Sayreville died Sept. 24 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Her husband, William F. Kitchen, died in 1943. JAMES VINCENT PAMPINTO, 70, of Sayreville died Sept. 28 at home. Surviving are his wife, Doris Tuttle Pampinto; a son, James of Clifton; a daughter, Maria Stratton of the Parlin section of Sayreville; two brothers, Joseph and Salvatore Pampinto; four sisters, Constance De Martino, Elizabeth Pacinello, Eleanor Luisi and Josephine Franceschetti; and five grandchildren. DOROTHY KATHERINE SWEENEY SUMOWSKI, 77, of Waitsburg, Wash., formerly of Sayreville, died Sept. 23 at home. Her husband, Adam Sumowski, died in 1994. Surviving are two daughters, Kerry Brown of Waitsburg and Camilla Sumowski of Goldbar, Wash.; a sister, Janet Scheid of Sayreville; three grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Services were held at Maliszewski Memorial Home, Sayreville. Interment was in New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin.
ANNA GOBL BERENYI, 85, of East Brunswick died Sept. 14 at home. Her husband, Andrew, died in 1970; a son, Gustav, died in 1994; another son, Raymond, died in 1987. Surviving are two sons, Frank of the Somerset section of Franklin and Geza of Brewer, Maine; two daughters, Martha Tone of East Brunswick and Marie Maltese of Pennsylvania; 24 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. GIZELLE LUKACH CHOHAMIN, 81, of Jamesburg, formerly of East Brunswick, died Oct. 4 in Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Her husband, John Michael, died in 1997. Surviving are two sons, Ronald James of Phoenix, Ariz., and Gary George of Plantation, Fla.; a daughter, Susan Lieberum of Princeton; two sisters, Anna Kacso of South River and Bertha Biro of the Toms River section of Dover; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Surviving are her husband, Edward R. Golembeski; and two daughters, Catherine M. of Englishtown and Irene M. Chervenick of Trenton. EVELYN WIRTH GUANDOLO, 62, of Rockville, Md., formerly of East Brunswick, died Sept. 21 in Potomac Valley Nursing Home, Rockville. Surviving are two sons, William Joseph of Raleigh, N.C., and John David of Alexandria, Va.; a sister, Barbara Grover of Pittsburgh; and her mother, Margarete Wirth of the Whiting section of Manchester. VINCENT J. MANESCALA, 82, of East Brunswick died Oct. 5 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. His wife, Bessie, died in 1984. Surviving are three daughters, Penny Perillo of Staten Island, N.Y., Antoinette Zaretsky of Parkland, Fla., and Fontaine Figliuolo of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a son, James of Brooklyn; two stepsons, Robert of Staten Island and Peter of Florida; a brother, Gerard Manescala of Brooklyn; a dear friend, Joan Weglarz of Monroe; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. MARTHA LOUISE DOROTHY MULLER, 71, of East Brunswick died Oct. 3 in Cranbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Monroe. Her husband, Robert H. Muller Esq., died in April. Surviving are two daughters, Dr. Suzanne Muller-Koegler of East Brunswick and Margaret Louise Wojciechowski of Savage, Minn.; two sons, Robert H. Muller Jr. of Dumont and Jeffrey C. Muller of Stuarts Draft, Va.; two sisters, Dolores Davis and Barbara Goodyear, both of Florida; and six grandchildren. Services were held at Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick. Prior to her retirement in 1988, she worked for 25 years as a dental hygienist/office manager for Dr. Stanley Cohen, East Brunswick. Surviving are her husband, Richard W. Schmidt; a son, Frederick "Rick" Olsen of the Kendall Park section of South Brunswick; a daughter, Nancy Sarnak of Spotswood; three stepdaughters, Rosemary Stein of Pennington, Jacqueline Appignani of the Toms River section of Dover and Louise Olsen of Kendall Park; a sister, Karen Roman of South Plainfield; and eight grandchildren. Surviving are two daughters, Ann Zielinski of North Brunswick and Mary Smith of East Brunswick, and a sister, Cecelia Witkowski of South Amboy.
