Amber M. Short
EUNICE - Services for Amber Michele Short of Groves, Texas, granddaughter of David and Lucy McFadden of Jal, will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 31, at Jal High School Auditorium.
The Rev. David McFadden will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Alan Speed of Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Jal Cemetery under the direction of Calvary Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. today at Calvary Baptist Church in Jal and from noon to service time on Sunday at the Jal High School Auditorium.
Amber, 19, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, in Nederland, Texas, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born Jan. 19, 1981, in Andrews.
She was of the Southern Baptist Faith. She had moved to Groves two months ago from Jal.
Amber was a junior at New Mexico State University and worked at Wee Care Nursery in Port Arthur, Texas.
She was a member of Crimson Scholar, National Honor Society and was salutatorian of her 1999 Jal High School graduating class.
Other survivors include her parents, Kim and Vicki Short of Groves; and grandparents, Gerald R. Short of Snyder and Delores Short of Joplin, Mo.
Her sister, Stacy Nicole Short, accompanied her in death.

Stacy N. Short
EUNICE - Services for Stacy Nicole Short of Groves, Texas, granddaughter of David and Lucy McFadden of Jal, will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 31, at Jal High School Auditorium.

Stacy, 17, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, in Nederland, Texas, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born Jan. 12, 1983, in Hobbs.
She was of the Southern Baptist Faith. She had moved to Groves two months ago from Jal.
Stacy was a member of the National Honor Society and homecoming princess during her sophomore and senior year at Jal High School.
Other survivors include her parents, Kim and Vicki Short of Groves; and grandparents, Gerald R. Short of Snyder and Delores Short of Joplin, Mo.
Her sister, Amber Michele Short, accompanied her in death.

Maxine Coffer
Services are pending with Bethany Funeral Home for Maxine Coffer of Lovington.
Mrs. Coffer, 70, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, in Payson, Ariz.

Irene Hazlewood
Services for Irene Hazlewood of Hobbs will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30, at Taylor Street Church of Christ.
Eli Borden will officiate.
Burial will follow in Memory Gardens under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hazlewood, 80, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, in Hobbs. She was born March 23, 1920, in Shamrock, Okla.
She married E.L. Hazlewood on March 18, 1946, in Colorado City, Texas.
She was a member of Taylor Street Church of Christ. She had lived in Hobbs since 1946.
She had worked as a cook at Furr's Cafeteria for eight years.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two sons, Jay Thomason of Hobbs and Jim Thomason of Houston, Texas; two daughters, Edna Buffington and Shirley Welty, both of Hobbs; two brothers, Jay Nichols of Casper, Wyo., and Tom Nichols of Eastland, Texas; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Her parents; five sisters; one brother; a son, Bill Thomason; and a grandson, Mike Buffington, preceded her in death.
Memorial contributions may be made to the New Mexico Christian Children's Home, West Star Route, Box 48, Portales, N.M. 88130.

Lisa A. Tarin
Services for Lisa Ann Tarin, a lifelong Hobbs resident, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30, at Temple of Praise Church.
The Rev. Rudy Rodriquez will officiate.
Burial will follow in Prairie Haven Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Bethany Funeral Home.
A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Ms. Tarin, 26, died Monday, Dec. 25, in Lubbock. She was born March 9, 1974, in Hobbs.
She graduated from Hobbs High School in 1992.
Survivors include three sons, Christopher Adam Tarin, Angel Ryan Tarin and Andrew Tarin, all of Hobbs; her mother, Linda Tarin of Hobbs; two brothers, Lenardo Tarin and Larry Tarin, both of Hobbs; a sister, Lorinda Llamas of Hobbs; and numerous uncles and cousins.
Her father, Adam P. Tarin; and her grandmother, Dominga Hill Luna, preceded her in death.

Robert E. Lee

Services for Robert E. Lee of Hobbs will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 29, at Taylor Memorial Baptist Church.

The Rev. Arnie Adkison, the Rev. Daron Adkison and Jim Pearce, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Prairie Haven Memorial Park under the direction of Chapel of hope Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to service time on Friday.

Mr. Lee, 69, died Monday, Dec. 25, at Lea Regional Medical Center. He was born June 6, 1931, in Webb City, Okla. He married Eva Adkison on July 8, 1951, in Shidler, Okla.

He was member of Taylor Memorial Baptist Church, where he was a deacon.

Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Bobby Carl Lee of Lubbock and Bruce Lee of Spring, Texas; two daughters, Eva Rena Wilson of Franklin, Tenn., and Susie Woods of Odessa; a sister, Dixie King of Bartlesville, Okla.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

His parents, Clyde and Beatrice Lee; a brother; and a sister preceded him in death.

Memorial contributions may be made to VistaCare Family Hospice, 1515 Calle Sur, Hobbs, N.M. 88240.

Irene Hazelwood

Services are pending with Griffin Funeral Home for Irene Hazelwood of Hobbs.

Mrs. Hazelwood, 80, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, at her home. She was born March 23, 1920, in Shamrock, Okla.

Immediate survivors include her husband, Ed Hazelwood; two sons, Jay Thomason of Hobbs and Jimmie Thomason of Houston, Texas; and two daughters, Shirley Welty and Edna Buffington, both of Hobbs.

Nancy F. Holdridge

ODESSA - Services for Nancy Flora Holdridge of Odessa, mother of Rob L. Holdridge of Hobbs, will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Assembly of God Church in Odessa.

The Rev. Paul Thompson will officiate.

Services will also be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 29, at Nowlin Funeral Home Chapel in De Leon, with burial to follow in Oliver Springs Cemetery under the direction of Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home.

Mrs. Holdridge, 90, died Monday, Dec. 25, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born Sept. 1, 1910, in De Leon. She married Ernest John Holdridge on Dec. 22, 1928, in De Leon. He preceded her in death.

Other survivors include two more sons, John Holdridge and Roy Holdridge of Odessa; two daughters, JoAnn Smith of Odessa and Dorthy Lemke of Stafford, Va.; a brother, Emory Morris of De Leon; 19 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.

Weston A. Bruton

SNYDER, Texas - Services are pending with Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home for former Lea County resident Weston Allen Bruton of Fluvanna, Texas.

Mr. Bruton, 77, died on Sunday, Dec. 24, while visiting his son in Bangkok, Thailand. He was born Nov. 19, 1923, in Temple, Texas. He married Ilda Mae Jordan on June 24, 1952, in Lovington. She died on June 20.

Survivors include his son, Greg Bruton of Bangkok; a daughter, Lana Renee Harden of Amarillo; four sisters; five brothers; and a grandson.

Bobbie J. Wardlaw

MAGNOLIA, Ark. - Services for former Hobbs resident Bobbie Jean Wardlaw of Magnolia will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 29, at Lewis Chapel.

Kem Reeder will officiate. Burial will follow in Bussey Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wardlaw, 74, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, at Magnolia City Hospital. She was born Feb. 1, 1926, in Mount Vernon, Texas. She married Alvin Piner Wardlaw, who preceded her in death.

She worked as a waitress for various restaurants.

Survivors include a daughter, Ramona Patton of Magnolia; a sister, Betty Fitzgerald of Magnolia; a granddaughter; a grandson; a great-granddaughter; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Her parents, James Walter and Estelle Forrest (Whitley) Hemby; a brother, Billy Hemby; and a sister, Lorene Freitag, also preceded her in death.

Mary M. Ragland

LOVINGTON - Services for Many M. Ragland of Lovington will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 29, at First Baptist Church.

The Rev. Gil Ramirez and the Rev. Harry Pittam will officiate. Burial will follow in the Lovington Cemetery under the direction of Smith-Rogers Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ragland, 64, died Monday, Dec. 25, in Lubbock. She was born Aug. 13, 1936, in Gorman. She married Bob Ragland on June 4, 1955, in Desdemona, Texas.

She was a member of First Baptist church and the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband of the home; a daughter, Judy Ragland of Lovington; three sons, Ronald Ragland of Andrews, Donald Ragland of Artesia and James Ragland of Farmington; a brother, Kenneth Lee of Necessity, Texas; and 14 grandchildren.

Connie L. Quisenberry

Services are pending with Griffin Funeral Home for Connie L. Quisenberry of Hobbs.

Mr. Quisenberry, 65, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, at his home. He was born Jan. 6, 1935.

Immediate survivors include his wife, Jo Quisenberry, of the home; and a sister, Sherry Ryan, of Fort Worth.

Enrique Miramontes Sr.

Mass of Christian Burial for Enrique Miramontes of Hobbs will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 29, at St. Helena Catholic Church.

The Rev. Jose Reyes will officiate. Burial will follow in Prairie Haven Memorial Park under the direction of Bethany Funeral Home.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. tonight at the St. Helena Catholic Church.

Mr. Miramontes, 48, died Monday, Dec. 25, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born July 15, 1952, in Cuahutemoc, Chihuahua, Mexico.

He moved to Hobbs from Los Angeles in 1992. He was a member of St. Helena Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Josefina Rodriquez Miramontes of the home; three sons, Henry, Steve and Miguel Angel Miramontes, all of Hobbs; his parents, Jose and Paz Miramontes of Cuahutemoc; two brothers, Jose Miramontes of California and Ignacio Miramontes of Utah; six sisters, Graciela Miramontes, Yolanda Miramontes and Oralia Miramontes, all of Mexico, Veronica Minjares of Hobbs, Moraima Chavez of Colorado and Laura Najera of Utah; and three grandchildren.

Ruby F. Goins
Due to inclement weather, funeral services for Ruby F. Goins, 71, of Eunice have been postponed until 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Eunice with the Rev. Keeney Dickenson officiating. Assisting will be Hospice chaplain Elio Barrios.
Burial will be in Brunson Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Calvary Funeral Home.
Visitation is scheduled from 1-9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday.

Matt Walker
Funeral services for Matt Walker of Tatum are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Tatum with the Rev. William Jackson officiating.
Burial, under the direction of Bethany Funeral Home, will follow in Tatum Cemetery.
Mr. Walker, 90, died Saturday, Dec. 23. He was born in Hearne, Texas, on Dec. 5, 1910, and married Ruby Martin on April 22, 1957, in Lovington. The couple moved to Tatum in 1958, where Mr. Walker worked as a janitor for the Senior Citizens Center and Tatum Health Clinic. He also worked at Chevron and as a handyman for many years.
Mr. Walker is survived by his wife of the home; four sons, Charles Walker of Bosque Farms, Kenneth Walker of Tatum, Willie Humble of Hearne, Texas, and James Jackson of Lubbock; three daughters, April McKee and Mary Hilliard of Tatum and Lena Williams of Lubbock; 33 grandchildren; and 30 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Arthur Walker and George Jackson.
