Eddie G. Brannan

WOODVILLE, Texas - A family gathering with visitation for Eddie G. Brannan of Woodville will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, at the Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville.

Mr. Brannan, 71, died Sunday, Aug. 12, at Woodville Convalescent Center. He was born July 8, 1930, to William and Callie Westbrook Brannan in Big Spring.

A former longtime resident of Midland and Hobbs, Mr. Brannan had lived in Woodville for the last six months. He was a retired oilfield salesman with Benro Pump and had worked for a long time with Conoco Oil Company. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include one daughter, Terrie O'Hara of Woodville; and two grandchildren.

Maria Arenibas

LOVINGTON - Mass of Christian burial for Maria Albarado Arenibas of Lovington will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, at St. Thomas Catholic Church. The Rev. Bill McCann will officiate.

Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bethany Funeral Home.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at St. Thomas Catholic Church.

Ms. Arenibas, 102, was born Nov. 11, 1898, in Aldama, Chih., Mexico, to Barlio and Barilia Albarado. She died Sunday, Aug. 12, at her home.

She was a resident of Lovington for nearly 30 years, after moving from California.

Survivors include two sons, Toribio Arenibas and Estevan Arenibas; five daughters, Amelia Hernandez, Amada Arevalo, Andre Michel, Petra Hernandez, all of Lovington, and Marcelina Zubia of Presidio, Texas; one brother, Clemente Albarado of Mexico; 33 grandchildren; 107 great-grandchildren; 61 great-great grandchildren; and four great-great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters.

Randall J. Braswell

ODESSA - Services for Randall Joe Braswell of Odessa will be held at 10 a.m. CDT today at First Baptist Church of Odessa. The Rev. Ernest Easley will officiate.

Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home.

Mr. Braswell, 48, was born on Jan. 1, 1953, in Hobbs. He died Tuesday, Aug. 7, at his home.

He graduated from Permian High School in Odessa in 1971 and joined the U.S. Army in December 1972, serving with the 2nd Armored Division as a tank commander until February 1977.

Mr. Braswell was a route salesman for Gandy's Dairies, Holsum Bread and Schwan's Corp. before being disabled with multiple sclerosis. He later developed Beurgers disease.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Sherry Sue Little Braswell of Odessa; a son David William Braswell of Odessa; a daughter, Jolie Elizabeth Braswell Lee of Lubbock; his stepmother, Polly Braswell of Odessa; four brothers, Lester Braswell of St. Charles, Mo., Karl Braswell of Roscoe, Ill., Jimmy Braswell of Odessa and Danny Purdy of Joplin, Mo.; a sister, Edna Braswell Conn of Odessa; nine grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and caring friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, L.K. "Braz" Braswell, his mother, Helen June Braswell; and his sister, Debby Lou Hill.

Jim Crow

LOVINGTON - Services for Jim Crow of Lovington will be held at 3 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Roy Elmore will officiate.

Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Bethany Funeral Home.

Mr. Crow, 55, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, at his home. He was born Feb. 26, 1946, in Lovington to J.C. and Frances Crow. He married Connie Blackard on Nov. 27, 1971, in Lovington.

Mr. Crow graduated from Lovington High School in 1964. For the last 29 years, he owned and operated the Crow Ranch in Humble City, where he was a rancher and horse trainer. He worked for Natural Gas Pipeline for 15 years and also worked for the City of Lovington in the Water Department.

Mr. Crow had served on the Lea County Fair Board and was the chairman of the Lea County Fair and Rodeo. He also served as a director of the American Junior Rodeo Association, HPJRA, LCJRA and was a member of the Lea County Cowboy Hall of Fame and past chairman of the board.

He was active in his church, First United Methodist, where he taught Sunday school and was the junior high MYF leader. He also served on various committees and had recently organized The Last Breath Support Group. He was an avid hunter.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Josh and Casey of the home; his mother of Lovington; two sisters, Lee Ann Richards of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Pat Fox of Wallowa, Ore.

He was preceded in death by his father; and his grandmother, Lottie York.

Memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church or the church of one's choice, VistaCare Family Hospice or the Lea County Cowboy Hall of Fame.

Greggory M. Brande

ALBUQUERQUE - Services for Greggory Michael Brande (De-Wai Dorjee) of Albuquerque will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at the KSK Buddhist Center, 751 Airport Rd., in Santa Fe. Services are under the direction of French Mortuary of Albuquerque.

Mr. Brande, 40, died Monday, Aug. 6. He was born Feb. 16, 1961, to Melessia Helberg and Harvey Gordon Brande.

Mr. Brande attended Tatum Elementary School, St. Francis Cathedral School and St. Michael's High School in Santa Fe. In 1991, he graduated cum laude from the University of New Mexico with a bachelor's degree in university studies. He was an artist, writer, musician, masterful marksman and amateur technician. He was a longtime student of Nyingma Tibetan Buddhism.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Don L. Helberg, both of Santa Fe; an aunt; a cousin; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Herbert and Virginia Pior, formerly of Tatum.

Juan Venegas

SEMINOLE - Funeral Mass for Juan Francisco Venegas of Seminole will be celebrated at 11 a.m. CDT Saturday, Aug. 11, at St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Reynaldo Reyes will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Gaines County Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home.

Mr. Venegas, 87, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, in Seminole. Born June 16, 1914, in Mexico, he married Inez Santillan Sept. 18, 1933, in Mexico.

He was a farm worker and a member of St. James Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife of the home; five sons, Jose Venegas, Polo Venegas and Jesse Venegas, all of Seminole, Perfecto Venegas of Phoenix, and Augustine Venegas of Hobbs; three daughters, Trine Ramirez of Artesia, Adella Leos of Hobbs, and Angie Alvarado of Seminole; three sisters, Maria Acosta of Eunice, Angelita Rodriquez of Abilene and Ramona Montoya of Carlsbad; 18 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Jim Crow

Services are pending with Bethany Funeral Home for Jim Crow of Lovington.

Mr. Crow, 55, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, at his home.

Homer Shelton

Services for Homer Shelton of Tatum will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at First Baptist Church in Tatum. The Rev. Wayne Brazil will officiate.

Burial will follow Masonic graveside services conducted by Tatum Lodge No. 46 in Tatum Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors of Lubbock.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. today at Rix Funeral Directors in Lubbock.

Mr. Shelton will lie in state from 9-10:30 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Tatum.

Mr. Shelton, 87, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Quail Ridge Alzheimer Care Center in Lubbock.

Born Nov. 5, 1913, in Calvert, Texas, he had been a resident of Tatum since 1959. He married Sarah Fields on July 12, 1988, in Tatum.

Mr. Shelton worked in the oilfields for 30 years and owned and operated the Steak House Cafe in Tatum until he retired in 1983. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Ballut Abyad Shrine Temple in Albuquerque. He was also a member of the Lions Club, Tatum Chamber of Commerce and Tatum Baptist Church.

He raised Appaloosa and quarter horses.

Survivors include his wife of Tatum; two sons, Robert Shelton of Sublimity, Ore., and Jerry Shelton of Lubbock; a daughter Marcella Shelton of Los Angeles; a brother, Virgil Shelton of Shepherd, Texas; three sisters, Doris Nettles of Lott, Texas, Juanita Sorrell of Giddings, Texas, and Ruby Faye Biel of Dripping Springs, Texas; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Shirley M. Kleam

DENVER CITY - Services for Shirley May Kleam of Denver City will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at Trinity Baptist Church. The Rev. Jim Auld will officiate.

Services are under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home.

Mrs. Kleam, 49, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. She was born June 22, 1952, in Odessa.

Mrs. Kleam was a graduate of Hobbs High School and lived in Hobbs for 10 years before moving to Denver City. She was a manager of an Allsup's convenience store.

Survivors include two daughters, Shawna Lane of Seminole and Stacy Kleam of Plains; her parents, Walt Norman and Louise Norman of Lovington; one brother, Eddie Norman of Lovington; one sister, Linda Sifers of Lovington; two stepbrothers, Donnie and Lonnie Norman, both of Missouri; and one grandchild.

Eva R. Good

Graveside services for Eva R. Good of Hobbs will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at Prairie Haven Cemetery. Chaplain Leon Green will officiate.

She will lie in state from noon-8 p.m. today and from 8-9 a.m. Friday.

Mrs. Good, 83, was born Jan. 23, 1918, in Louisiana. She died Tuesday, Aug. 7, in Hobbs.

She married Roy Good, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Good moved to Hobbs in 1962 from Casper, Wyo. She was a nurse at Lea Regional Medical Center and Lea Regional Hospital and also worked at La Siesta.

Mrs. Good was involved with Hobbs bowling leagues for many years.

She is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was also preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.

Martin "M.T." Cox

Services for Martin "M.T." Cox of Hobbs will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at First Christian Church on Linam Street. The Rev. Jerry James will officiate. Services are under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.

He will lie in state from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Friday.

Mr. Cox, 71, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, in Hobbs. Born Nov. 3, 1929, in Lubbock County, he married Zenna Stockton on May 31, 1958, at First Christian Church of Hobbs.

Mr. Cox was a member of First Christian Church. He was a carpenter and painter.

Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Carla Hedrick and Lisa Kemp, both of Hobbs; one son, Marvin Cox of Sweetwater, Texas; one brother, John Cox of Arizona; one sister, Ona Allison of Brownwood, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and three brothers.
