Ruth A. Boring

A memorial service for Ruth Ann Boring of Maljamar will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at Love Street Baptist Church. The Rev. Jerry Isaacs will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Bethany Funeral Home.

Mrs. Boring, 57, died Monday, Aug. 6, at her home. She was born March 31, 1944, in San Bernardino, Calif., to Harry and Marjorie Field. She married Richard E. Boring on Nov. 10, 1987, in Seminole.

Mrs. Boring and her husband owned and operated 2R Trucking.

Survivors include her husband of the home; her mother of Truth or Consequences; one son, Marc Sylvester of Canon City, Colo.; one daughter, Sarah Ballard of Maljamar; one brother, Harry Wayne Field II of Las Cruces; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father; and one brother, Richard Field.

Alma J. Wallace

Services for Alma J. Wallace of Hobbs will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, at American Baptist Church. The Rev. Chris Barnett and the Rev. Vernon Mackey will officiate. Services are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. today and from 8 a.m.-noon Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Wallace, 63, died Saturday, Aug. 4, at University Medical Center in Lubbock. She was born June 13, 1938, in Coolidge, Texas. She married Marvin Wallace on April 1, 1960, in Lovington. He preceded her in death in June 1997.

Mrs. Wallace graduated from Hobbs High School in 1957. She was the co-owner of Wallace's Frostop for 34 years. She attended Prairie View University, the University of New Mexico and College of the Southwest.

Mrs. Wallace was the coordinator of the NAACP youth group. She served on numerous committees, including the Lodgers' Tax Board, the Literacy Alliance, Eastern Star, Silver Stars Social Club and Democratic and Republican parties.

She helped sponsor numerous beauty pageants and was an active worker in the community. She also made contributions to fund-raisers for youth. She was a member of Lane Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.

Survivors include one son, Kevin Wallace of Hobbs; two brothers, Gary Hicks of Phoenix and Bennie Hicks of Plano, Texas; two sisters, Norma Dean of Hobbs and Ophelia Brown of Seattle; two stepsons, Marvin Wallace Jr. and Hardy Wallace; one stepdaughter, Sandra; and two grandchildren.

Bessie E. Barnett Tallant

DE QUEEN, Ark. - Services for Bessie Ellen Barnett Tallant of Winthrop, Ark., will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Crossroads Baptist Church in Crossroads, Ark. The Rev. Donnie Vaughnn and the Rev. Sam Hendricks will officiate. Services are under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in the Campground Cemetery.

Mrs. Tallant, 78, died Monday, Aug. 6, at the IHS Nursing Center in Mount Pleasant, Texas. She was born Aug. 18, 1922, in the Richmond Community of Little River Country, Ark., to James and Nancy Jones Barnett.

Mrs. Tallant was a homemaker and of the Holiness faith.

Survivors include five sons, Melvin Tallant of Foreman, Ark., Vernon Tallant of Cove, Ark., Louis Tallant of Mount Pleasant, Ollen Tallant of Albuquerque and Garland Tallant of Horatio, Ark.; 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Tallant, on Dec. 4, 1996; and her parents.

Laveta M. Searcy

EUNICE - Services for Laveta Mae Searcy of Jal will be held at 10 a.m. today at Jal Church of Christ. Daryl Micham of Jal Church of Christ will officiate. Services are under the direction of Calvary Funeral Home of Eunice.

Burial will follow at Jal Cemetery.

Mrs. Searcy, 86, died Monday, Aug. 6, at her home. She was born Dec. 27, 1914, in Clyde, Texas. She married Sanford A. Searcy on Sept. 30, 1933, in Abilene. He preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 1989.

In 1947, Mrs. Searcy and her family moved from Plainview to Jal. She was employed by the Jal Public Schools, the Jal Hospital and various restaurants in food preparation. She retired after 35 years of service. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Jal.

Survivors include two sons, Bobby Searcy of Midland and Sanford Searcy Jr. of Hobbs; one daughter, Delora Morgan of Safford, Ariz.; one brother, O.J. Kniffen of Midland; one sister, Madge Paulk of Hobbs; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby and O.J. Kniffen; two sons, Billy and James Searcy; one daughter, Sandra Kaye Quintana; and three sisters, Hazel Searcy, Louie Conley and Margie Moore.

Memorials may be sent to Christian Children's Home in Portales.

Ruth A. Boring

Services for Ruth Ann Boring of Maljamar are pending with Bethany Funeral Home.

She died Monday, Aug. 6, at her home.

Leveta M. Searcy

EUNICE - Services for Leveta M. Searcy of Jal are pending with Calvary Funeral Home of Eunice.

Mrs. Searcy, 86, died Monday, Aug. 6, in Jal. She was born Dec. 27, 1914, in Abilene.

Survivors include two sons, Bobby Searcy of Midland and Sanford Searcy Jr. of Hobbs; one daughter, Delora Morgan of Safford, Ariz.; and one sister, Madge Paulk of Hobbs.

Linda F. Jones

DENVER CITY - Services for Linda Faye Jones of Denver City will be held at 3 p.m. today at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Bob Webb will officiate and the Rev. Michael Lee of the Victory Baptist Church of Carlsbad will assist.

Burial will follow at Denver City Memorial Park under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home.

Mrs. Jones, 52, died Saturday, Aug. 4, in Carlsbad. She was born July 18, 1949, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Troy Richman Sr. and Faye Richman. She married Robert Jones on March 20, 1970, in Midland.

Mrs. Jones had been manager of the Denver City Dairy Queen for seven years. She was active with the Denver City Girl Scouts and was a troop leader for 17 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Chad W. Jones of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two daughters, Kaymie P. Jones of Denver City and Summer R. Medrano of Carlsbad; her father of Denver City; three sisters, Sue Burleson and Barbara Bopp, both of Denver City, and Martha Chapman of Carlsbad; one grandson; and three stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother; and one brother, Troy Richman Jr.

Memorials may be sent to the Asthma Foundation.

Thomas L. Helton

A memorial service will be held at a later date for Thomas Loyed Helton of Corpus Christi, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Bethany Funeral Home.

Mr. Helton, 50, died Saturday, Aug. 4, in Corpus Christi. He was born Feb. 3, 1951, in Monahans, Texas, to Lucien and Judith Helton.

Mr. Helton was most recently working as a registered nurse at a hospital in Corpus Christi. A 1969 graduate of Tatum High School, he served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam as a paramedic.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, Lucien and Helen Helton, of Tatum; two sisters, Barbara Gail Lee of Hugo, Okla., and Joyce Marie Rice of Denver City; one brother, Billy Donn Helton of Odessa; one stepsister, Teresa Ritcherson of Carlsbad; one stepbrother, Jack Franklin of Tatum; one niece; and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his mother in 1980.

Castillo

JAL - Services for Luis M. Castillo will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6, at the Jal High School Auditorium. The Rev. Michael May of the Church of God of Jal and the Deacon Gerald Anderson of the Church of Christ Church of Jal will officiate.

Services will be under the direction of Calvary Funeral Home of Eunice.

Mr. Castillo, 48, died Friday, Aug. 3, at the Winkler County Memorial Hospital. He was born Sept. 15, 1952 in Loving. He married Rosa Maria Carnero on Feb. 28, 1975 in Carlsbad.

Mr. Castillo worked for the Carlsbad Police Department before moving to Jal. In 1989, Mr. Castillo become the police chief for the city of Jal. He was a member of the Jal Volunteer Fire Department, the Fraternal Order of Police, the New Mexico Police Chief and Sheriff Association, the Lea County Drug Task Force and the H.I.E.D.A. Association. Mr. Castillo served as a peace officer for more than 18 years and was a member of the Church of Christ Church in Jal.

Visitation will be held from 7:30-9:30 p.m. today at the Jal High School Auditorium.

A committal service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, at the Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Carlsbad. Cremation will take place immediately following.

Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Luis Manuel Castillo Jr., of Jal, and Anthony Guadalupe Castillo of Lubbock; one daughter, Janie Marie Artelejo of Midland; two sisters, Flavia Carrasco of Carlsbad and Avelina Garland of Las Vegas, Nev.; his parents, Mary and Guadalupe Barron and Juanita and Gilbert Nava Sr., all of Carlsbad; one aunt; four grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Ceniceros

DENVER CITY - Services for Felipe Garcia Ceniceros of Lubbock will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, at Saint Williams Catholic Church. The Rev. Andres Mendoza will officiate.

Services are under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Homes of Seminole.

Burial will follow at Denver City Memorial Park.

Mr. Ceniceros, 73, died Aug. 3 in Lubbock. He was born Feb. 5, 1928 in St. Helena, Chihuahua, Mexico. He married Donaciana Rangel in November 1983 in Lovington.

Mr. Ceniceros is a retired mechanic who was employed by Cohee and Rollins for 33 years. He has been a resident of Denver City since 1977 and was a member of the Saint Williams Catholic Church.

He was proceeded in death by three brothers, two sisters and a son, Sixto Ceniceros on Aug. 4, 1992.

Survivors included his wife; one son, Rudy Ceniceros of Hobbs; one daughter, Silvia Ceniceros of Orlando, Fla.; three sisters, Juanita Silvas of Denver City, Blasa Gamboa of Iraan, Texas and Bertha Ceniceros of Saragosa, Texas; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Luis Castillo

EUNICE - Services for Luis Castillo of Jal are pending with Calvary Funeral Home of Eunice.

Mr. Castillo, 48, died Friday, Aug. 3, at Winkler County Memorial Hospital. He was born Sept. 15, 1952.

Survivors include his wife, Rosie Castillo, of the home.

Marianne Hungerford

Graveside services for Marianne Hungerford of Hobbs will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, at Prairie Haven Cemetery. The Rev. Jim Lacey will officiate.

Services are under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hungerford, 88, died Thursday, Aug. 2, in Hobbs. She was born Oct. 31, 1912, in Whitewright, Texas. She married Layne Hungerford on April 12, 1946, in Hobbs. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Hungerford taught school for 40 years, including 15 years in Hobbs. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Suzanna Wilson of Hobbs; one brother, Connie Garner of Kansas; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 1330 San Pedro N.E. No. 205, Albuquerque, N.M. 87110.

Faye B. Vaught

MONAHANS, Texas - Services for Faye B. Vaught of Monahans will be held at 2 p.m. today at Harkey Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jeff Box will officiate.

Burial will follow at Monahans Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Vaught, 96, died Thursday, Aug. 2, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born Jan. 16, 1905, in Dial, Texas.

Mrs. Vaught was a retired retail sales manager. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Charley T. Vaught of Odessa; two daughters, Pat Finley of Monahans and June Driggers of Odessa; one brother, Tom Bertram of Hobbs; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerstle Bennett Vaught, in 1947.
