Gwen Sutton

Services for Gwen Sutton of Hobbs will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 8, at Prairie Haven Chapel. Eli Borden will officiate. Services are under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park. The body will lie in state 11 a.m.-5 p.m. today at the funeral home. Family will greet friends 3-5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ms. Sutton, 53, died Tuesday, June 5, in Lubbock. She was born Dec. 14, 1947, in Liberal, Kan.

Ms. Sutton moved to Hobbs in the early 1950s. She was active in Victory Center Church. She was a graduate of Hobbs High School and Vogue Cosmetology College and she attended New Mexico Junior College.

Ms. Sutton was a counselor for the Crisis Center of Lea County in the early 1980s. She was also a worker at Vista and coordinator of the Senior Olympics of Lea County.

Ms. Sutton is survived by four sons, William Soloman, Nathan Soloman, Shawn Soloman and Bryan Soloman, all of Hobbs; three brothers, Robert Sutton of Hobbs, Larry Sutton of Eunice and Gary Sutton of Benton, La.; two sisters, Linda Carmack of Benton and Rhonda Teague of Hobbs; and 10 grandchildren.

Ms. Sutton was preceded in death by her partner in life, Mike Glover; and her parents.

Horace F. Roberson

Services for Horace F. Roberson of Hobbs will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 8, at Lovington Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. The Rev. Homer Kyle will officiate.

Mr. Roberson, 81, died Tuesday, June 5, at his home. He was born May 16, 1920, in Maverick, Texas.

Mr. Roberson married Ruth Whisenant on April 10, 1948, in San Angelo. She preceded him in death in 1998.

Mr. Roberson is survived by three sisters, Geenie Reeves of Houston, Erma Carter of Carlsbad and Alice Lockhart of Fredericksburg, Texas; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Gwen Sutton

Services for Gwen Sutton of Hobbs are pending with Griffin Funeral Home.

Mrs. Sutton, 53, died Tuesday, June 5, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. She was born Dec. 14, 1947.

Mrs. Sutton is survived by one son, Nathan Soloman of Hobbs.

Gary C. Riley

LUBBOCK - Services for Gary C. Riley of Lubbock, the father of Jordan Catherine Riley of Hobbs, were held May 24, and his ashes were scattered at Lake Travis near Austin.

Mr. Riley, 51, died Thursday, May 17. He was born Oct. 14, 1949, to Bill and Katherine Riley in Lubbock.

Mr. Riley was a graduate of Lubbock High School, Texas Tech University and the Texas Tech University School of Law. He was an English major in college.

Mr. Riley practiced as a trial attorney for many years in Odessa and Midland, representing hundreds of defendants in medical negligence cases. Since 1989, he lived and practiced law in Austin, focusing his efforts on litigation and representation of clients before state agencies.

Mary M. Yarbrough

Services for Mary M. Yarbrough of Hobbs are pending with Bethany Funeral Home.

Mrs. Yarbrough, 57, died Tuesday, June 5, at Lea Regional Medical Center.

Lora L. Walker

Services for Lora Lavern Walker of Hobbs are pending with Griffin Funeral Home.

Mrs. Walker, 68, died Tuesday, June 5, in Hobbs. She was born June 11, 1933.

Thomas Gonzalez

LOVINGTON - Services for Thomas Gonzalez of Lovington are pending with Bethany Funeral Home.

Mr. Gonzalez, 73, died Monday, June 4, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.

Felisiana Rodriguez

Services for Felisiana Garcia Rodriguez of Lariat, Texas, will be held at 2 p.m. today at San Jose Catholic Church in Texico. Services are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at Muleshoe Cemetery in Muleshoe, Texas.

Mrs. Rodriguez, 90, died Sunday, June 3, at Muleshoe Hospital. She was born Sept. 23, 1910.

Mrs. Rodriguez is survived by three sons, Bernardo Rodriguez of California, Emilio Rodriguez of Hobbs and Felix Rodriguez Jr. of Petersburg, Texas; two daughters, Maria Lucio of Lariat and Benita Guana of Pasadena, Texas; 36 grandchildren; 76 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Rodriguez was preceded in death in 1982 by her husband, Felix Rodriguez; three brothers; five sisters; and three grandsons.

Mark H. Tattan

Services for Mark H. Tattan of Hobbs are pending with Griffin Funeral Home.

Mr. Tattan, 84, died Sunday, June 3, at Lea Regional hospital in Hobbs. He was born May 4, 1917.

Mr. Tattan is survived by two daughters, Marcia Wolske and Margaret Patterson both of Hobbs; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Frances.

Mary Alice Dooley

Services for Mary Alice Dooley of Hobbs will be held at 10 a.m. today at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home. The Revs. Lavoid Ford and Eli Borden will officiate.

Services are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.

Mrs. Dooley, 90, died Saturday, June 2, at her home in Hobbs. She was born Jan. 29, 1911, in Blessing, Texas. She married J.I. Dooley on June 7, 1930, in Waurika, Okla.

Mrs. Dooley was a homemaker.

Survivors include one son, James C. Dooley of Hobbs; two daughters, Delores Christian and Jonnie Bell, both of Hobbs; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Dooley was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers; and three sisters.

Memorial contributions can be made to Vista Care Family Hospice or New Mexico Christian Children's Home in Portales.

Raymond Howard

Services for Raymond Howard of Hobbs will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 3, at Calvary Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Elio Barrios of VistaCare Family Hospice will officiate. Services are under the direction of Calvary Memorial Funeral Home.

Mr. Howard, 63, died Thursday, May 31, in Hobbs. He was born Sept. 17, 1938, in West Monroe, La.

Mr. Howard has lived in the Hobbs area for the last 25 years, moving from West Monroe before retiring. He worked in the Hobbs school system as a janitor.

Mr. Howard is survived by one daughter, Barbara Masters of West Monroe; one son, Clifford Howard of Ruston, La.; one brother, Eddie Howard of Pigeon Forge, Tenn.; two sisters, Dorothy Brasher of Ruston and Sybil Aaron of Forrest Hill, La.; and one grandchild.

Mr. Howard was preceded in death by his parents.

Raymond Howard

Services for Raymond Howard of Hobbs are pending with Calvary Memorial Funeral Home.

Mr. Howard, 63, died Thursday, May 31. He was born Sept. 17, 1937.

Mr. Howard is survived by one daughter, Barbara Master of West Monroe, La.

Syble L. Whitehead

Services for Syble Louise Whitehead are pending with Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.

Mrs. Whitehead, 84, died Wednesday, May 30, at Hobbs Healthcare Center. She was born April 10, 1917, in Comanche, Texas.

Mrs. Whitehead is survived by one daughter, Jerita Shoaf of Blackfoot, Idaho; and five sons, Billy Whitehead and Sanford Whitehead, both of Hobbs, Dwain Whitehead of Tulsa, David Whitehead of Winnsboro, La., and Ronnie Whitehead of Durango.

Diamond C. Thompson

LOVINGTON - Graveside services for Diamond Clara Thompson, formerly of Lovington, will be held at 11 a.m. today at Lovington Cemetery. The Rev. Mack McCarthick will officiate. Services are under the direction of Smith-Rogers Funeral Home.

Mrs. Thompson, 87, died Wednesday, May 30, in Lubbock. She was born Nov. 5, 1913, in Bonita, Texas. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Lovington.

Mrs. Thompson was a Lovington resident until one year ago, when she moved to Lubbock.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by one son, Wayne Thompson of Lamesa; three sisters, Beatrice Burns of Las Vegas, Louise Queen and Lucille Miller, both of Roswell; one grandson; and one great-grandson.

Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Burns and Dorothy Sumruld.

Kay Randall

Graveside services for Kay Randall of Hobbs will be held at 10 a.m. today at Everglade Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.

Mrs. Randall, 57, died Wednesday, May 16, in Hobbs. She was born Sept. 11, 1943, in Texas.

Mrs. Randall was a registered nurse at Lea Regional Medical Center.

She is survived by one son, Mandrell Marshall of Albuquerque; and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.

Mrs. Randall was preceded in death by her parents, Chalmer and Emma Stell.

Larry B. Mitchell

GALLUP - Services for Larry Brian Mitchell of Gallup will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at Gallup Christian Center - The Door. The Rev. Jeff Symonds will officiate. Services are under the direction of Rollie Mortuary Inc.

Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Gallup.

Mr. Mitchell, 23, died Wednesday, May 30, in Gallup. He was born Sept. 27, 1977, in Roswell.

Mr. Mitchell graduated from Hobbs High School. He was employed with the Gallup City Police Department as a corporal at the time of his death.

Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Erica Mitchell of Gallup; one son, Dylan Erik Mitchell; his parents, Larry D. Mitchell and Kathy A. Mitchell of Gallup; one brother, Robert Buck Mitchell of Gallup; one sister, Jennifer Whitcamp of Roswell; and his paternal grandmother.

Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother; and both of his grandfathers.
