NICHOLAS W. SMITH
Wellsville, NY
NICHOLAS W. SMITH, 20, of 3174 Vossler Road passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at Jones Memorial Hospital. He was born August 5, 1983 in Wellsville the son of Craig and Leisha (Bogle) Smith.
Nick was a life-long resident of Wellsville, and attended Wellsville High School. He was employed by L.C. Whitford for 5 years, and maintained the Riverwalk. He had many friends, and enjoyed skateboarding when he was younger. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved shooting, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his parents of Wellsville, his paternal grandmother: Melvena Smith of Wellsville, a brother: Jeremy Smith of Wellsville, several cousins, aunts and uncles.
Friends are invited to call on Wednesday, April 14, 2004 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home, Inc. in Wellsville. A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 1:00 pm in the funeral home, with Rev. Ralph Eastlack presiding. Memorial suggestions include the Wellsville Skate Board Park in care of Ralph Eastlack 86 North Main Street Wellsville, NY 14895.

NOLAN DONOVAN LUDU
Wellsville, NY
NOLAN DONOVAN LUDU, 19 months, of 20 McDowell Avenue died on Monday, June 7, 2004 following an accident in the Town of Jasper. He was born on October 12, 2002 in Wellsville, the son of Frank and Kathleen (Quillinan) Ludu.
In addition to his parents, Nolan is survived by 1 brother: Ryan and a twin sister: Keara both at home; his maternal grandfather: Grover Quillinan of Elmira, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Friends are invited to call on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home, Inc. in Wellsville. A Mass of the Angels will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 12, 2004 in Immaculate Conception Church, Wellsville with Rev. Dennis Wolf as celebrant. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Wellsville. Memorial suggestions include the Elks Lodge #1495, Scholarship Fund c/o 77 Pearl Street, Wellsville, NY 14895 or The American Heart Association.

MARY PATRICIA SCHOENHERR
Wellsville, NY
Mary Patricia (Pat) Schoenherr, 79, of 8 Meadowbrook Court, died Sunday December 28, 2003 at the Wellsville Manor Care Center following a long illness. She was born July 28, 1924 in Wellsville, the daughter of Frank and Margaret (Graham) Wall. On July 18, 1953 in Wellsville she married Karl J. Schoenherr, who survives. She and Karl celebrated their 50th.wedding anniversary this year.
Pat was a graduate of the Immaculate Conception School and a 1944 graduate of Wellsville Central School. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Richmond Professional Institute of the College of William and Mary in Richmond, VA. She also did graduate studies at Buffalo State, University of Buffalo and Geneseo State earning a Masters Degree in Art Education. She was employed as an art teacher in Addison, Richburg, Scio and the Immaculate Conception Schools. While at Scio Central School, she was instrumental in starting the art department.
She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Altar and Rosary Society, Wellsville Art Association, Business and Professional Woman’s Club, American Association of University Women, National Wood Carvers Association, South towns Wood Carvers Association of Buffalo and the Niagara Wood Carvers Association of Buffalo.
She was a self taught relief wood carver, exhibiting throughout New York, Pennsylvania and Ontario, Canada, including the Allentown Art Festival in Buffalo. In 1974 she donated a wood carving depicting all the arts to the David A. Howe Library in memory of her Mother, who was a long time librarian in the 40’s and who had passed away in the spring of 1974.
Surviving in addition to her husband Karl, is one son, Mark of Wellsville, 3 grandchildren; Kelly, Ben and Heather, 4 great grandchildren; Dawson, Dillon, Hayleigh and Xander and several cousins; Martha Fisher of Wellsville, Georgia Sparler and Kathleen Ballestine, both of York, PA and Franny Duke of Mason Michigan.
Friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. Services will begin on Wednesday December 31, 2003 at 10:30 am with a prayer at the funeral home, followed be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville. Rev. Dennis Wolf will be celebrant, interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Wellsville and memorial suggestion in lieu of flowers include the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps, the Immaculate Conception School or to Our Lady of Victory Home in Lackawanna, NY.

Oletha S. Reed
Belmont, NY
Oletha S. Reed, 88, formerly of 10 Whitney Avenue, passed away on Thursday January 1, 2004 at the Wellsville Manor Care Center. She was born on September 15, 1915 in the town of Amity, the daughter of LaRue and Ruth (Nye) Sears. On May 29, 1941 in the town of Amity she married Harold A. Reed who predeceased her on September 29, 1999.
Oletha was a former 58 year resident of Friendship, was a 1933 graduate of Belmont High School and a 1936 graduate of the Geneseo Normal School. She taught for 5 years in country schools including Hallsport, Petrolia, and Allentown and later substituted in the Friendship School system. She was a member of the United Church of Friendship where she was a dedicated Sunday school teacher. She was a former and very active member of the Musical and Literary Club of Friendship, the Friendship Free Library Board of Trustees and the Mount Hope Cemetery Board. She was also a former member of the Christmas Tree Farmers Association of New York, the National Christmas Tree Growers Association and the Allegany County Home Bureau.
She is survived by 1 son: Gordon (Sandra) Reed of Erie, PA, 1 daughter: Carole (Allen) Mohilewsky of Belmont, 1 grandson: Reed (Lisa) Mohilewsky of Kenmore, 1 granddaughter: Robin Mohilewsky of Las Angeles, CA, 1 great granddaughter: Anastasia Mohilewsky of Kenmore, several nieces, nephews, cousins and a sister in law; Clara Reed Lynch of East Aurora.
Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00pm at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Belmont. The funeral service will be Monday January 5, 2004 at 11:00am at the United Church of Friendship with Rev. Kirk Kirch and Rev. Cornelius DeGroat presiding. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Friendship. Memorial suggestions include the United Church of Friendship or the Friendship Free Library.

ONNOLEE M. STARR
Wellsville, NY
ONNOLEE M. STARR, 94, formerly of 2369 Stannards Road, passed away on January 11, 2004 at the Wellsville Manor Care Center. She was born on August 26, 1909 in Belmont, the daughter of George W. and Sara (Van Ness) Davidson. On November 16, 1935 at 2369 Stannards Road in Wellsville she married Carlos Starr, who survives.
She grew up in and around Klipnockee, Arkport, and Hornell before moving to Wellsville in 1935. She was employed as a seamstress by several factories, including Merril Hosiery and Kaiser Glove. She was also a member of the Stannards United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband Carlos, she is survived by her daughter Beverly (Charles) Raynor of Wellsville; 1 brother: Warren (Anna) Davidson of Wellsville; 2 grandsons: Charles Raynor II and Lawrence (Patricia) Raynor both of Elmhurst, NY; 1 step granddaughter: Maryann Raynor Maloney of Daytona, FL.; 1 great granddaughter: Rebecca P. Raynor of Elmhurst, NY; 1 step great grandson: Michael Maloney Jr. of Edgewater, FL.; 2 goddaughters: Karen Painter and Marsha Dinger; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by 3 brothers: Arthur Davidson, Howard Davidson, Harold Davidson and 6 sisters: Irene Howe, Lela Shelley, Elizabeth Gayhart, Pearl Studley, Evelyn Lounsberry, and Jayne Hurd.
Friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. The funeral service will be on Thursday January 15th at 11:00 am in the Funeral Home with Revs Regina and Ray Shaw presiding. Burial will be in Arkport Cemetery. Memorial suggestions include the Stannards United Methodist Church.

PATRICIA J. WIGENT
Belmont, NY
PATRICIA J. WIGENT, 73, of 5071 State Route 244, passed away on Saturday July 31, 2004 at home, with her family at her side. She was born November 13, 1930 in Olean, the daughter of Elmer “Buck” and Mildred (Unchpher) Williams. On January 27, 1950 in Friendship, she married Lawrence “Gene” Wigent who predeceased her on November 30, 2002.
Pat was a graduate of Belmont Central School and had attended the Belmont United Methodist Church. She had been employed as a Belmont School Bus Driver for 28 years.
She is survived by 3 children; Rick (Kristen) Wigent of Belmont, Sandy Wigent of Scio and Mark (Lisa) Wigent of Alma; as well as 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 1 brother; Ross Gleason of Portville and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no prior visitation and funeral services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will in Forest Hills Cemetery and memorial suggestions include Home Care & Hospice or the Amity Rescue Squad. Arrangements are under the direction of the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc., Belmont.
