Irene Rhebergen
2/23/2006 - Irene E. Rhebergen, 76, Chautauqua Street, Mayville, died Feb. 17, 2006 at Westfield Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 31, 1929 in Brocton, the daughter of the late Victor and Agnes Ellison Johnson.
Irene had been an elementary school teacher from 1953 to 1982, teaching in the Sherman and Mayville districts.
She was a member of the Mayville United Methodist Church, Acanthus Chapter 127 Order of Eastern Stars in Mayville and the Chautauqua Lake Snowmobile Club in Mayville. She enjoyed the outdoors, nature and snowmobiling, where she was one of the first female snowmobilers. She loved her grandchildren and being able to take care of them.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Donato of Dewittville and JoAnne Kammer of Mayville; a son, John Alan Rhebergen of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren, Jason D. Donato of Dewittville, Melissa A. Donato of Amherst, Lisa Proctor of Mayville, Eric Kammer of Mayville, Kristin Kammer of Mayville and Kelsey Rhebergen and Brock Alan Rhebergen, both of Houston; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert J. Johnson of Brocton; a sister, Luella Ames of Huntsville, Ala.; and a half-sister, Vicki Greer of Crosby, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alan E. Rhebergen, whom she married Feb. 23, 1951 in Brocton and who died May 9, 1998.
Burial will be in the Mayville Cemetery. No visitation will be observed.
Memorials may be made to Mayville Fire Department Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 2, Mayville, N.Y., 14757; or the Mayville United Methodist Church, 81 S. Erie Street, Mayville, N.Y., 14757.
The Freay Funeral Home in Mayville is in charge of arrangements.

Sarah M. Reist
2/23/2006 - Sarah M. Reist, 80, of Forest Ave., Ext., died Feb. 17, 2006 at WCA Hospital.
She was born Sept. 116, 1925 in Portland, the daughter of the late Charles and Lucy Manzella Slate.
An employee of the former Maddox Table Co. for more than 30 years, she belonged to St. James Catholic Church and was a member of the Jamestown Diabetic Club.
Surviving is her husband, Robert Reist, whom she married June29, 1953; a brother, Frank T. Slate Sr. of Westfield; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to an infant brother and sister, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Slate; twin sisters, Anna Samonia and Mary Myers; and sisters, Bertha Kessler, Carrie Tuminia, Josephine Seekings, Lucy Munson and Ida Slate.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the Lind Funeral Home in Jamestown.

Pete M. Pati
2/23/2006 - Pete M. Pati, 75, of Martin Road, Fredonia, died Feb. 17, 2006 at Westfield Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness with his loving family at his side.
He was born in New Mine, Pa. on Sept. 21, 1930, the son of the late James and Clara (Buffone) Pati.
Formerly of Heilwood, Pa., he had been a resident of the Brocton-Fredonia area since 1940. he was a retired grape farmer, having bought his farm on Martin Road, Fredonia, in 1961. He was also a former employee of Welch Foods of Brocton and Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp. of Dunkirk.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing baseball as a former member of the Stockton Hotel baseball team. He also bowled in the Barcelona Lanes and Lucky Lanes bowling leagues.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline (Brunato) Pati, whom he married Nov. 6, 1954; two sons, Michael J. Pati of Fredonia and Alan B. Pati of Brocton; two grandchildren; one brother, Frank Pati of Mesquite, Nev.; three sisters, Tessie Vaccaro of Jamestown, Frances Cavallaro of Falconer and Caroline Kusneske of Portland.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Adolpho and Pat Pati.
Interment will be in the Portland Evergreen Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are by the Morse Funeral Home in Brocton.

Henry L. Threlkeld
2/23/2006 - Henry L. Threlkeld, 82, of Silver Creek, died Feb. 15, 2006 at The Waters of Dunkirk.
He was born Jan. 27, 1924 in Covington, Ky., the son of the late Benjamin and Emma (Dennis) Threlkeld.
A Silver Creek resident since 1962, Threlkeld served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman Fist Class during World War II. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign Medal, American Area Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
A truck driver, he worked for the Red Wing Corporation of Fredonia for many years.
He was a member of the Samuel Cimino VFW Post, the Navy Club and the Teamsters Union.
An avid baseball player in his younger years, he enjoyed camping and traveling.
Survivors include three sons, John Threlkeld of Brocton, Danny Threlkeld of Silver Creek and Henry Threlkeld Jr. of Irving; on daughter, Judy Threlkeld; two sisters, Agnes Raper and Jeannette Wolf, both of Covington; one brother, Roy Threlkeld of California; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa (D'Angelo) Threlkeld; one brother, John Threlkeld; and two sisters, Thelma Roberts and Nancy Threlkeld.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no prior visitation.
Arrangements are by the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, Silver Creek.

Francis C. Knight
2/23/2006 - Francis Chatfield Knight, 94, formerly of Ripley, passed away on Feb. 11, 2006 in Byron Center, Mich.
She was born Dec. 1, 1911 to Frank and Florence Napper Knight.
She is survived by three children, Mary Keller, Judith Hitz and David Knight; and seven grandchildren, Scott and Christopher Hitz, Seth and Alexander Keller, and Jennifer, Rebecca and Laura Knight.
A memorial service will be held on March 11 at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Ripley.
Memorial gifts may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Ripley.

Wilbur L. Gabriel
2/23/2006 - Wilbur L. "Bill" Gabriel, 85 of Miller St., Sherman died Feb. 14, 2006 in his home.
He was born April 5, 1920, in the Town of Clymer the son of the late Elmer and Bertha Priester Gabriel.
He had served in the United States Army during World War II having served as an engineer, serving in Central Europe, Normandy, northern France and the Rhineland. He had worked for the Chautauqua County Highway Department for 26 years, owning his own truck and at the same time he ran his own gravel business. From there he worked for the Town of Sherman and H.K. Nuttall Equipment Co. retiring from there at the age of 62. He enjoyed helping people and visiting. He loved his dogs and the neighborhood dogs.
He is survived by his wife Doris Hamilton Gabriel of Sherman whom he married June 28, 1947; and a daughter Susan Gabriel of Jamestown.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Howard, Wilton, and Harry Gabriel.
Burial will be in Sherman Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Stanley Hose Co. Sherman, NY 14781 or Hospice of Chautauqua County, 4840 W. Lake Rd. Mayville, NY 14757.

Doris R. Nuttall
2/23/2006 - Doris R. Nuttall, 90, of W. Bayfront Parkway, Erie, Pa., formerly of Sherman, Chautauqua Shores & Juno Beach Fla. died Feb. 13, 2006) at Sunrise Assisted Living.
She was born July 2, 1915, in Buffalo, the daughter of the late William and Anna Marx Rothenberger. She had attended Buffalo State College, and later was a Home Economics teacher. Doris had taught in Medina, New York and Goshen, New York. She was a member of Moon Brook Country Club.
She is survived by her sister Gladys R. Rubeck of Glendale Ariz.; and by her nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Hilton K. Nuttall, on September 8, 1999, whom she married January 8, 1943; and one brother, Donald W. Rothenberger on August 18, 1989; stepdaughter, Jacquelyn N. Coe, May 28, 1998; and an infant daughter, only 10 hours old named Ann Kay Nuttall, born in 1944. No calling hours will be observed. Services will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are by the Spitzer Funeral Home, Sherman.

Helen J. Rivera
2/23/2006 - Helen J. (Dloniak) Rivera, 66, of Silver Creek, died Feb. 14, 2006 in St. Vincent's Health Care Center, Erie, Pa., surrounded by her loving family after an extended illness.
She was born Jan. 30, 1940 in the Town of Arkwright, the daughter of John (Jack) and Helen I. (Szymanski) Dloniak.
She married Victor Rivera-Colon, who predeceased her Feb. 12, 2003.
She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R.C. Church and Holy Trinity R.C. Church. She volunteered with Helping Hands, enjoyed working bingo at Holy Trinity, was a past legal aid board member and was interpreter for the Hispanic people in the area as she was fluent in the Spanish language.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by a son, Victor Manuel (Jacqueline) Rivera Jr. of Silver Creek; five daughters, Jane Solares of Silver Creek, Patricia Rivera of Westfield, Aloisia (Wally) Welka of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Maggie Garcia of Brocton and Hortensia Hunt of Dunkirk; 23 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Eugene (Bonita) Dloniak of Stockton and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, John Paul Rivera; a granddaughter, Angela Rivera; a grandson, Michael Angel Rivera; two brothers, John Dloniak and Aloysius Dloniak; and three sisters, Geraldine Abbey, Phyllis Karalus and Eleanor Sanchez.
Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery in Fredonia.

Virginia F. Lillie
2/16/2006 - Virginia F. Foell Lillie, 89, of Lebanon, Ohio, died at home on February 11, 2006.
She was born Aug. 25, 1916 in North East, Pa., the daughter of John F. and Elise (Kummer) Foell.
She had worked for W.T. Grant and Westfield Central School.
She is survived by a son, John T. Lillie of Bellevue, Wash.; one daughter, Katherine (Lillie) Issler of Ohio; two grandchildren, Elisa A. Dennis of Ohio and John E. Issler of Westfield; and two great-grandchildren, Joseph A. Dennis III and Jordan M. Issler.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George E. "Ed" Lillie; two brothers, Fritz W. and Theodore Foell; and two sisters, Margaret Nimtz and Lillian Johnson.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Memorial donations are requested to the Northern Chautauqu Canine Rescue Inc., 7540 North Gale Street, Westfield, N.Y., 14787.
