Linda K. Starr
Linda K. Starr, 56, of 4267 Dean School Rd., Falconer went home to be with the Lord at 6:40 p.m. Thursday (August 30, 2007) in WCA Hospital.
Linda was born October 16, 1950 in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Vincent V. and Mary Ann Frederes Beightol.
Linda was a graduate of Falconer High School and along with her husband Max owned and operated Top-A-Rise Camp Grounds.
She attended Levant Wesleyan Church and was a member of the Ellington Food Pantry, Levant Cemetery Society, Manatee Ladies Red Hat Society and was activity director at Top-A-Rise Camping Area. She also enjoyed traveling and golfing.
She is survived by her husband Lennie Max Starr whom she married October 25, 1980 in the Town of Ellington, two brothers James (Joyce) Beightol of Kennedy, Leon (Barb) Beightol of Falconer, a sister Darlene (Mike) Mendrick of Jamestown, several nieces and nephews, her step mother; Margaret Beightol of Ruskin, FL, three step sisters Beverly (Alan) Huizenga of Brandenton, FL, Sharon (Bruce) Springer and Shirley (Bruce) Carman all of Urbana, Ohio, three step daughters Cindy (Tom) Baier of Toronto, Ohio, Susan (David) Smith of Whitehall, Ohio, Melissa (Al) Lucenta of Steubenville, Ohio, four step grandchildren: Jennifer (Brandon) Ulasiewicz, Ashley Baier, Heather (Joe) Himmelspach and Stefanie Huber, three step great grandchildren, Mia and Patrick Ulasiewicz and Chelsee Cress.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Levant Wesleyan Church. Rev. Howard Garver pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Levant Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Falconer Funeral Home.

Dennis F. Janson
Dennis F. Janson, 62, of 1629 West Third St. died at 6:05 p.m. Sunday (September 2, 2007) in WCA Hospital.
A life long area resident he was born August 30, 1945 in Jamestown and was the son of Floyd and Irene Whipple Janson.
Dennis was a graduate of Jamestown High School and served in the 2/98 U.S. Army Reserves, Gerry, NY for 29 years serving as 1st Sergeant He was employed by Cummins Engine Corporation as a tool maker retiring in 2007.
He was a member of the Celoron Post 777, American Legion, AMVETS Post 1996, War Vets and Recreation having served as past president and the Busti Mens Club.
He is survived by his wife Joanne M. Carlson Janson whom he married September 26, 1987 in Jamestown, a son Todd Janson of Jamestown, a daughter Denise (Tim) Rach of Jupiter, Florida, a step son Michael (Courtney) Anderson of Jamestown, a step daughter Melissa Anderson of Manassas, Virginia, two grandchildren Chloe and Owen Rach of Jupiter and his mother Irene Janson of Jamestown.
He was preceded in death by his father who died December 15, 1993.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Falconer Funeral Home. His step son Pastor Michael Anderson of Family Church will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by the AMVETS Post 1996 and the 2/98 U.S. Army Reserves, Gerry, NY. Interment will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

Arlene R. Henry
Arlene R. Henry, 79, formerly of 1513 West Third St. died Wednesday (September 5, 2007) in Hamot Medical Center, Erie, PA.
A life long area resident she was born June 19, 1928 in Jamestown and was the daughter of the late Jonas and Imogene Carlson Soderberg.
Arlene attended Jamestown Schools and in earlier years was employed by National Worsted Mills. She attended Christian Missionary Alliance Church.
Surviving are two sons; Patrick (Barb) Henry of Jamestown, John Henry of Florida, three daughters Verna (Craig) Swanson of Lakewood, Sharon (Mark) Huff of Erie, PA, Terry Brandow of Lakewood, seven grandchildren; Sommer Piazza, Matthew Swanson, William Henry and Courtney Tabor all of Jamestown, Katy and Kelly Huff of Erie, and Patrick McDonald, five great grandchildren Riley and Caleb Piazza Cierra, Alissa and Olivia Taber, two brothers Richard Soderberg of Jamestown and Donald Soderberg of Perrysburg.
She was preceded in death by a half brother Walter Moody.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 1011 West Thrid St., Jamestown. The Rev. Wayne H. Eppehimer, Rev. Myron Myers, and Rev. Dan Soderburg will officiate. A graveside service will follow in the Chapel of Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will not be observed.

Harold E. Vollentine
Harold E. Vollentine, 93, of 2189 Willard St. Ext. died at 7:55 a.m. Thursday (September 13, 2007) in WCA Hospital.
He was born September 12, 2007 in Westfield the son of the late Ward and Fern Simpson Vollentine.
Prior to retirement Harold was employed by Jamestown Malleable Iron. He also was a self employed antique dealer.
Harold enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren in California. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, all holidays and dining out with his wife. Harold had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a joke to share with family and friends.
Surviving are his wife Rachel K. Marucci Vollentine whom he married November 18, 1936 in Falconer, a son William Harold (Angie) Vollentine of Buna Park, CA, five grandchildren; William H. Vollentine Jr., Mark Vollentine, Christopher Vollentine, Sara Jean Getz, Bridgette Vollentine all of California, four great grandchildren; Branton, Allisa, Ava Jane and Madeline Vollentine all of California, two sisters Jane Abersold of Ashville and Barbara (Cecil) Barmore of Dewittville.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Ralph and Howard Vollentine and a brother-in-law Elwood Abersold.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Donald E. Ray will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of ones choice.

Rev. Philip W. Schlick
Falconer- Rev. Philip W. Schlick, 92, of 208 Homestead St. died at 10:20 p.m. Tuesday (September 18, 2007) in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born July 13, 1915 in Buffalo, NY the son of the late Clarence W. and Roberta E. Prentiss Schlick.
Rev. Schlick was a graduate of Westfield High School, Ohio Northern University earning his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1937 and attended seminary at Garrett Biblical Institute of Northwestern University, Evanston, IL receiving his Masters of Divinity Degree.
Rev. Schlick was a biblical scholar and well-known accomplished musician. He retired in 1977 from the Western New York Conference of the United Methodist Church. He held pastorates in the Methodist Churches at Forestville, Russell, PA, Silver Creek, Salamanca and Cattaraugus, NY. He also served at Cascade Methodist Church in Erie, PA, Falconer United Methodist Church, Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Greece, NY and Kennedy and Steamburg United Methodist Churches.
Until his passing he was an active and beloved member of the Falconer United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sons; David Schlick of Long Beach, CA, Robert (Jennifer) Schlick of Jamestown, a daughter Margaret (Norman) Jensen of Cattaraugus and two grandchildren; Emily Schlick and Madeline Schlick both of Jamestown and a brother John Schlick of Harbor Creek, PA.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marian Town Schlick whom he married July 20, 1942 in Forestville, who died September 2, 2002 and a grandson Karl Schlick.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Falconer United Methodist Church. Rev. Michael Breunig and Rev. Timothy D. Phelps will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Falconer Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Living Memorial Fund of Falconer United Methodist Church, 201 N. Work St., Falconer, NY 14733.

Richard O. Kraft
Richard O. Kraft, 86, of Brookside Estates died at 1:00 p.m. Friday (September 28, 2007) in Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing.
He was born June 24, 1921 in Falon, Sweden the son of the late Helge M. and Hilda Hagstrom Kraft.
Richard attend Jamestown High School and was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1942 to 1945 serving in the Pacific Theatre.
He was a retired sheet metal worker of Local 112 and was employed by Sprinchorn & Co. retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Forty-Five year member of the Thule Lodge having served as past chairman, Bemus Point VFW # 557 and the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club.
Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor.
Beloved husband to Gertrude C. Mohney Kraft whom he married June 7, 1947 in Jamestown, beloved father to Richard C. Kraft of Bemus Point and Linda C. (Bob) Miller Brown of Clearfield, PA, beloved grandfather to; Lori Jo Fischer and Erik Kraft both of Bemus Point, Lisa Rodgers of Chandler, AZ, Donald C. Miller of North Carolina, Darryl Miller of Clearfield, PA and Richard Kraft of Mentor, OH, beloved great grandfather to; Justine Vine, Brian and Kelsey Rodgers, Zachary and Megan Fischer, Donald Miller and Mason Kraft. He is also survived by two sisters Irma Brown of California and Eleanor Quilliam of Bemus Point.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Arne Kraft.
The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Timothy J. Hoyer pastor of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Falconer will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. The Thule Lodge will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

Gordon H. Sikes
Gordon H. Sikes, 70, of Drybrook Rd., Falconer died at 11:25 a.m. Sunday (September 30, 2007) in his home.
A life long area resident he was born March 21, 1937 in Randolph, the son of the late Harold A. and Margaret Lena Sikes
He attended Randolph Schools and in earlier years was employed by Hopes Windows, had owned and operated the Kennedy Meat Market and also wholesaled used cars. He currently was owner and operator of Gordon Sikes Used Cars in Kennedy.
Gordon was a social member of the Randolph VFW Post 6533 and Randolph Post 181, American Legion.
He is survived by a son Rick Sikes of Kennedy, two granddaughters Brooke and Jenna Sikes both of Falconer, a sister Marion Riddell of Randolph, two brothers Allen Sikes of San Bruno, CA and Ronald Sikes of Randolph.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his long time companion Cynthia L. Leonard who died August 21, 2006.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Visitation will not be observed.
Memorials may be made to a charity of ones choice.

Rev. Kenneth L. Huff
Rev. Kenneth L. Huff, 89, formerly of Brookside Estates died at 2:15 p.m. Sunday (September 30, 2007) in Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing Center.
He was born January 27, 1918 in Mt. Jewett, PA the son of the late Samuel T. and Alice Louise Burns Huff.
Kenneth was a graduate of the Boston College and Asbury Park College of Theology.
He was a minister in the United Methodist Church for 51 years and was ordained in 1961 as a deacon and in 1963 was ordained as elder. He retired from Randolph United Methodist Church in 1986. Prior to retirement he had served in the Wyoming Conference, Genesee Conference, Western New York Jamestown Conference, Olean Conference and Buffalo District. After retirement he served as interim pastor for Charlotte Center United Methodist Church and First Baptist Church of Falconer. He served on the Board of Missions for the United Methodist Church and the Church Extension.
He was a member of the Dunkirk Irondequoit Lodge #301, F& AM and the Scottish Rite, Valley of Jamestown. He was very appreciative of his nephew Samuel and Evelyn Huff.
He is survived by his wife Ruth H. Amadon Titchner Huff, two daughters Joyce (Joy) Ames of Palm Harbor, FL and Carol (Bob) Arndt of Cape Coral, FL, a step son John Titchner of Vermont and a grandson Kenneth A. Ames II of Florida, step grandson Christopher Titchner and a step granddaughter Tracy Titchner Lawson and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Evelyn M. Crawford Huff whom he married December 10, 1936, who died November 29, 1969, a brother Sidney E. Huff, and two sisters Phoebe Irene Miller and Lillian E. Moore.
The funeral will be at 11a.m. Thursday in the Falconer First Baptist Church. Rev. Robert D. Lewis and Rev. Gerald Haglund will officiate. Burial will be in Lancaster Rural Cemetery, Lancaster, NY.
Friends will be received by the family from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Falconer Funeral Home. A Masonic memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Falconer First Baptist Church, 37 West Falconer St., Falconer, NY 14733 or to the Heritage Group, 3017 North Main St., Jamestown, NY 14701.

Jerry G. Barnes
Jerry G. Barnes, 60, of 66 McDaniel Ave., formerly of 198 English St. died Monday (October 1, 2007) in Hamot Medical Center, Erie PA.
A life long area resident he was born October 5, 1946 in Jamestown the son of the late John M. Barnes and Caroline Barnes Osborne
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1969. Jerry was employed by Valeo Engine Cooling Inc. for 36 years and was a member of the IAM Union
Jerry enjoyed spending time with his daughters and grandchildren and was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching the New York Mets, Buffalo Bills and NASCAR.
He is survived by two daughters Laurie (Eric) Sweetheimer of Jamestown and Kris (Adam) Koehler of Kansas City, KS, four grandchildren; Casey Yonkers of Jamestown, Joshua, Brenna and Ian Koehler all of Kansas City, two brothers Daryl Barnes of Buffalo and Dewane Barnes of Chicago, IL.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Roger Barnes.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Donald E. Ray will officiate. Inurnment will be in Lake View Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
