LOVELL Marjorie H. Age 72, of Founders Pavilion, Corning, NY, formerly of Pine City, NY. Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., on Tuesday, March 7, 2006, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 6:30 p.m., with Funeral and Committal service there at 6:30 p.m. Burial will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Wednesday at 12:00 noon.

REINHART Charles L. "Charlie" 72, of 340 Charles St., Hornell, died Sunday afternoon, March 5, 2006, at his home, following a long illness. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.

THORPE Hildreth M. Age 91 of W. Main St., Elkland, PA, passed away March 4, 2006 at Sweden Valley Manor, RD, Coudersport, PA. She was born April 8, 1914 in Harrison Valley, PA, the daughter of John and Mary Tadder Shaffer. Hildreth and her husband, Carl owned and operated Thorpe's Grocery in Elkland for many years. She was a 50-year member of the Knoxville Chapter #328 Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by nieces and nephews-in-law, Helen Mathews, Ulysses, PA, Hattie Mae and Paige Coates, Ulysses, PA, Marilyn and Lynn Bess, RD, Knoxville, PA, Judy and John Jones, Mills, PA; nephew, Paul Shaffer, Galeton, PA; nephew-in-law, Everett Hadley, N. Chili, NY; several great-nieces and nephews and many great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl L. Thorpe, in 1983. Friends are invited to call at the Kenyon Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Elkland, PA, Tuesday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., where funeral services will be held following calling hours at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be in Champlin Cemetery, Westfield, PA. WICHTOWSKI Arthur E. "Art" "Pop" Age 68 of Elmira, went to be with his Lord on March 5th, 2006 surrounded by his loving family. Art was born March 16, 1937, a son of the late Walter and Evelyn Hakes Wichtowski. He is survived by his wife, Carol McSparron Wichtowski. Art and Carol were married at the Church of the Epiphany in Sayre, PA on June 18, 1960. Art is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Stephen M. and Lorraine Wichtowski of Honeoye, NY, with children Blake and Page; daughter and son-in-law, Karen A. and John Rogers of Elmira, with children, Daniel and Emilie; son and daughter-in-law Thomas A. and Tracy Wichtowski of Wellsburg, NY, with sons Jacob and Matthew; brother and sister-in-law, David and Marianne Wichtowski of Pine City, NY; sister, Judy A'hearn of Elmira; his aunt, Helen Byer of Elmira; sister and brother-in-law, Marie and James Walsh of Towanda, PA; and sister-in-law, Pauline McSparron of Athens, PA; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Art was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from Elmira Correctional Facility after thirty-three years of service. Art, also known as "Pop," was very involved in his grandchildren's lives and activities, whether in Honeoye or Elmira. Art was also an avid golfer who regularly bested his sons and son-in-law on the golf course! Art was an extremely loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be sorely missed, frequently remembered and never forgotten. Art was also a lifetime member of the White Eagles Club in Elmira. Friends are invited to McInery Funeral Home, corner of Water and Walnut Sts., on Tuesday, March 7th from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 8th at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Elmira, with Father Edward Golden officiating. BRIGHT Bernice J. (Davidson) Age 83, of Elmira, NY, went home to our Lord Jesus on June 14, 2006. Mrs. Bright is survived by her sons, Charles (Joni) Bright and David (Theron) Bright; daughter, Peggy (Bob) Bright-Berhannan; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Friday, June 16th, at 10 a.m. at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home, with Reverend Michael Spencer officiating.

BUSH William P. Beloved Husband, Father and Papa Age 71, of Bannister Rd., Horseheads, passed away at home after a brief illness Tuesday, June 13, 2006. DURHAM Doris L. Kintz Age 91, of 278 Church Street, Wellsburg, NY, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2006, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She was born June 12, 1914 in Elmira, NY, daughter of the late Fred and Fannie Hanmer Kintz. Doris was a graduate of the Wellsburg Central School. She lived in the Middletown area following her marriage and worked as a seamstress for the Manhattan Shirt Company in Middletown, NY. She was a life member of the Christ Episcopal Church of Wellsburg, NY, both the New Hampton Fire Department Auxiliary and Wellsburg Fire Department Auxiliary, member of the Descendents of the Mayflower of Conn. and of the Ashland Senior Citizens. Doris enjoyed crossword puzzles and was an avid bingo player. Her family and many lifelong friends will sadly miss her. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, William and Nancy Kintz of Middletown, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Rosalie and John McConnell of Vestal, NY; her stepson and daughter-in-law, Richard and Joann Durham of Braintree, MA; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Betty) Kintz of Wellsburg, NY; niece, Karen D. Smith of Binghamton, NY. Her two husbands, William Kintz and Colin Durham; brothers, Leslie and Walter Kintz; and a niece, Lisa Ackerman Best, predeceased Doris. EDGER Gerald E., Sr. Age 70, of Philo Rd., Horseheads, passed away unexpectedly on June 11, 2006 with his family by his side. His service will take place on Thursday, June 15, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 So. Main St., Horseheads, with the Rev. Dennis Christensen officiating. GRIMINS Ward Age 79, of Painted Post, NY passed away June 13, 2006 at his home surrounded by his family. Ward was born in Avis, PA on July 11, 1926, the son of the late Helen Schaffer and Frank Grimins. He was a Seaman, Second Class USNR in the U.S. Navy. He worked for Corning Glass Works for 38 years as a toolmaker. He was an active member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Corning. Ward loved spending time with family and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fly-fishing, fly-tying, hunting, camping, and gardening. He also loved Yankee baseball and bowling. He was president of the Thursday morning men's senior bowling league. He is loved and will be missed by his wife of 56 years, Elvina Grimins; his three daughters, Sheryl (Tom) Harnas of Hammondsport, Brenda (Jim) Passmore of Painted Post, and Joy (Gary) Hively of Borden; his six grandchildren, Jill and Erin Morris, Ellen and Joe Passmore, and Kari and Ward Hively; his brothers, Dan and Bob Grimins, and his sisters, Arline Randolph, and Lila Kastigar. A memorial celebration of his life will be held at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Corning, 149 West William Street on Monday, June 19th at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Lynell AlJoe-Thurman officiating. A luncheon for family and friends will follow the service. Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Corning has been entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Corning, The American Cancer Society, or Southern Tier Hospice.

HEEBNER William "Dan" July 27, 1940-April 28, 2006 Dan, a former Elmira resident, TAE graduate and longtime resident of Richmond, Virginia and Raleigh, North Carolina embraced life to the fullest. Family and friends from Florida to Alaska, including three daughters, Octavia Brooks, Heather and Angela Heebner; and former wife, Gail Heebner survive Dan. He was preceded in death by father, Charles A. (Chuck); mother, Alice; and brothers, Charles Bernard (Moe) and John Richard (Dick) Heebner. Dan was nourished by his relationships and traveled extensively to be with "his people." He was a superior conversationalist, storyteller, listener and a true muse. Dan's insatiable curiosity, zest for life and sincere generosity was an inspiration to everyone he touched. He will be sorely missed. LEMAK Joseph J., Jr. Age 61, of Elmira Heights, NY, passed away Tuesday morning, June 13, 2006, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center due to complications from diabetes. PEARSON Stephanie Formerly of Elmira, NY Age 31, of Corning, NY, passed away very unexpectedly on Sunday, June 11, 2006. Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, on Thursday, June 15, 2006, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. with funeral service there at 6:00 p.m. Lay Pastor John P. RICHARDSON James V. Age 86, of 1004 N. Porter St., Watkins Glen, NY, died Monday, June 12, 2006, peacefully at home. Friends and family may call at the Haughey-Wood Funeral Home, 119 Fifth St., Watkins Glen, on Friday, June 16, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 17, at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Watkins Glen. Jimmy was born in San Nicola, Calabria, Italy, on January 9, 1920, the son of the late Joseph and Rosa Dechiera Roccisano. He served in the US Army during WWII from 1942-1945 and had retired in 1980 from Eastman Kodak in Rochester. He is survived by his sons, Joseph of LA, and Richard of Watkins Glen; grandchildren, Rich, Chris, Kari, Melody, Michael (Doc), Mike, Justine, Kelsey and Chad; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Yolanda Smith; and sister-in-law, Emma Roccisano, both of Watkins Glen; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by wife, Fernanda Re Richardson in 1986; sister, Theresa Schimizzi; brother, Harry Roccisano. Jimmy's great love was golfing and he was a devoted member of St. Mary's of the Lake Catholic Church. It was his life's dream to hear the bells of St. Mary's Church ring and donated the money to have them repaired in honor of his wife Fernanda. He was also a member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge 1546. The family wishes to thank the wonderful angels of mercy of HOSPICE for the help and care that they provided. We also wish to thank Dr. Eisman and his staff. We thank all the friends and family that came by and gave us support. ROUSH Marjorie A. 'Marj' Of Elmira, NY, went home to be with her Lord, peacefully on Sunday, June 11, 2006, surrounded by her loving and caring family. She was born in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of the late Edmund C. and Margaret E. (Kumph) Altenburg. Her father owned the Altenburg Brick Company in Buffalo, NY, where she was employed for 10 years. She is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, James R. Roush; daughter, Karen Lynne Roush of Waverly, NY; Dr. James Bennett and his wife, Stella Roush of Corning, NY; their children and Marjorie's beloved grandchildren, Jennifer and Sarah Roush. Mrs. Roush graduated from St. Mary's Seminary in Buffalo, NY, and attended Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA, the University of Buffalo and later completed her Bachelor of Science Degree at Elmira College in 1983. The Department of the Treasury (IRS) employed her, then in 1983 she began her employment with the Chemung County Office for Aging as a caseworker, retiring in 1999 after 16 years of dedicated service. From 1999 to 2006, she volunteered at her son's practice, Village Foot Care in Painted Post, NY. 'Marj' as she was affectionately known, was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Her special devotion to the Blessed Virgin was due to her lifelong commitment as a member of the sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which began in High School. At her request there will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Saturday, June 17, 2006, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1100 West Church Street, Elmira, NY 14905, at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Jeremiah Moynihan will celebrate her Mass. SCHANLEY Harriet Age 88, formerly of W. Gray St., Elmira, NY, died on Sunday evening, June 11, 2006. There will be no calling hours. SLUSSER Luther E. "Luke" Founder of Southern Tier Hide & Tallow, Inc. Age 85, of Elmira, NY, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at St. Joseph Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Doris M. Slusser; sons, Ronald L. (Sandra) Slusser, Roy E. (Virginia) Slusser, Karl A. Slusser, and Kevin C. Slusser; grandchildren, Ronald Joseph (Sondra), Anne Marie (Doug Alhlefeld), Craig (Karen), Shaun, Derek (Penny), Andrea (Pete Mahon), Kelly, Karen, Keith, Kyle Slusser; predeceased by parents, Claude and Mary Slusser; sister, Arlene Slusser; son, Dean N. Slusser; grandsons, Andrew Slusser and Ryan Slusser. Luther was a member of and very active in many areas of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a Master Sergeant in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII and served in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign as crew chief. Luther was active in Troop #47 of the Boy Scouts of America for several years. He was a member of the Rotary, the Masons, Corning Consistory and was a former Secretary of the National Hide Association. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. SPENCER Fay L. Age 93 formerly of Beaver Dams, NY passed away on Sunday June 11, 2006. Fay was born July 16, 1912 in Harrison Valley, PA the daughter of the late Clarence Jefferson Allen and Susie Fay Allen. Mrs. Spencer was also pre-deceased by her grandson Steven Dale Spencer; her sisters Edra Harvey, Reva Folnsbee, and Neva Bower; her brothers Clarence Allen and Warren Allen. Fay was a retired sales clerk at Newberry's Department Store in Elmira, NY. Mrs. Spencer is survived by her son: Clarence J. Spencer of Addison, NY; granddaughter: Faye Denise Spencer of New Jersey; three great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law: Elnora & Mike Savino of Horseheads, NY, Geraldine Strong of Elmira, NY, and Susie & Sam Chinelli of Rochester, NY; sister-in-law Jessie (Mrs. Clarence) Allen of Horseheads, NY; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends including a special friend Mary Everetts of Beaver Dams, NY. SWARTWOOD Alberta (Stebbings) Age 94, of W. Gray St. Elmira, NY, died on Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at St. Joseph's Hospital. There will be no calling hours. A private interment of Alberta's ashes will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira at the convenience of the family. TERRIS John B. "Jack" Age 81, of Elmira, died Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Jack was born November 23, 1924. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Hardy Terris, who he married on June 14, 1947; children, with families, Wendy S. and Larry Sargent of Wellsburg, NY with daughter Ashley; Robin E. Terris of Rochester, NY; and John B. "Jack", Jr. and Adel Terris of Big Flats with children Rachel, Matt and Mike; brother-in-law Richard W. Hardy of Elmira; several nieces and nephews, and dog Punky. At the age of 17 Jack enlisted in the U.S. Army and was an MP with the 88th Infantry Division. He served in Italy during WWII and was hand picked to guard General Mark Clark. During the war Jack was awarded 2 Bronze Stars. He retired from the Star Gazette in 1986 after 38 years of service as a pressman. Jack loved to take photos and enjoyed working on his computer. He was a member of the Elmira Heights American Legion Post #154 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #941. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of Water and Walnut Sts., on Saturday, June 17, 2006 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family. ZITO John Joseph Age 77, died at his son's home in Chino Valley, Arizona, on Saturday, May 27, 2006, under the cherry tree from a possible heart attack. Born 10-15-1928 in Elmira, NY, to the late Frank and Concetta Zito. A U.S. Navy Veteran. Married to Yvonne Feig Rice of Pennsylvania, in 1954, and had two sons, Johvonn and Gary. Later in life, he married Doris Maricle Hines from Cortland, NY, in 1973. He resided in Cortland, NY, until October of 2005 when he moved to Chino Valley, Arizona. Johnny (Papa John) to grandchildren, loved to fish, hunt, cook and to garden. He loved to sing, especially to Dean Martin, and never missed a good sale. Papa John is survived by his son, Johvonn (Jody); and other son, Gary (Breda) Zito, Chino Valley, AZ; stepchildren, Linda (Bob) Osgood, Tampa Bay, Florida, Tom Rice, Stu Rice, Chino Valley, AZ, Sharon (David Blatchly), Cortland, NY; step grandchildren, Caitlyn (Chad Dehoff) of Pennsylvania, Robert (Heather Blatchly) of Colorado; grandchildren, Jessica Zito-Law, Joshua Zito, and Rebekah Zito of Chino Valley, AZ; also his great-step grandchild, Carson Dehoff just born October 11, 2005; his brother, Carmen (Jenny), Horseheads, NY; and sisters, Mary (John Feltcher), Penn Yan, NY, and Margaret, Elmira, NY. He is further survived by nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Frank; and sister, Yolanda. CHILSON Lawrence A. Age 83, of Pine City, NY, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2006, at home, surrounded by his family. He was the son of Oscar and Florence Vargeson Chilson. Lawrence was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served in the South Pacific in World War II. He was a truck driver for Rubin Auto Parts for 25 years, a job he loved. Mr. Chilson enjoyed his hobbies of wood and metalworking. His main focus in life was his family. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth; and his children; son, Wade of CA, son, David, his wife, Kelli and their son, Daniel of NYC; son, Brian and his girlfriend, Janet Williams; daughter, Catherine and her husband, Richard Todd of Pine City and their children, Rachel, Eric, Helen and Kevin; brother-in-law, Roland Thomas; and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., on Sunday, June 18, 2006, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. with Funeral Service there Monday at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Donald Rockwell will officiate, followed by graveside service in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery, Elmira, NY with full military honors.
