Herb's life was devoted to close relationships with his family, friends and other individuals whom he helped to deal with the emotional vagaries of life. His business, Keeffe and Baker Insurance Agency, which he acquired during the 1950's, was merged into the Perry and Carroll Agency in 1993, when Herb retired. At one time, Herb was part-owner of a Barbados Insurance Company, wherein his friend George Hamid used Herb's insurance expertise to help George's and other circuses cope with a 1980's insurance crisis. In addition to serving as president of the Local Princeton Alumni Association, Hyp served as treasurer for the Class of 1940 as well as editing the class' 40th year reunion book.
