Grace D. Walker (nee Moore), December 10, 2004, formerly of Springville. Wife of the late Harry G. Walker, former administrator of Bertrand Chaffee Hospital; mother of Kenneth R. (Barbara) Walker, Gerald D. (Jackie) Walker, Ruth G. (Dale) Massey, Henry G. (Pat) Walker, Philip C. (Pat) Walker, and the late Donald G. and John C. Walker; also survived by 22 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; sister of Elizabeth Barnett and Gilbert Moore. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were made by the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, Inc., 271 East Main Street, Springville.

Marjorie A. Westover (nee Gill)
Marjorie A. Westover (nee Gill) of Springville, January 30, 2005. Wife of the late George I. Westover; mother of Ruby A. Bruce of Springville; grandmother of Colleen (George) Wiedemann and Yvonne (Joseph) Sciolino; great-grandmother of Alicia and Katelyn Sciolino. A memorial service will be held from the New Life Fellowship Church, 17 Park St., Springville on Saturday, February 5 at 11 o'clock. The Rev. Mark Forsythe will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Chest Township, Pa. Arrangements were made by the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, Inc., 271 East Main Street, Springville.

Edna C. Smercak (nee Bettinger)
Edna C. Smercak (nee Bettinger) of Springville, January 31, 2005. Wife of the late John A. Smercak; mother of Audrey (William) Filarecki, Thomas Smercak, Doris (John) Olivo, John Paul Smercak, Linda Dwaileebe and the late Lester Bettinger, Richard and Warren Smercak; mother-in-law of Bonnie Smercak; also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; grandmother of Jeanne Wagner; sister of Evelyn Vandermeer and several late brothers and sisters. Friends may call Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, Inc., 271 East Main Street, Springville, where a prayer service will be held Friday morning at 10:30, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial from St. Aloysius Church, Springville at 11 o'clock. The Rev. John Kwiecien will officiate. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Springville.

Ronald L. Watz
Ronald L. Watz of Springville, January 29, 2005. Son of Robert and Geraldine Watz (nee Miller); brother of Michelle (James) Mitchell, Robert W. Watz Jr. and David Watz; also survived by two nieces and a nephew; grandson of Jeannette Miller and Irene Watz. Funeral services were held Tuesday evening at 8 o'clock from the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, Inc., 271 East Main Street, Springville. The Rev. William L. Kay officiated. Burial will be in Mortons Corners Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Mortons Corners Volunteer Fire Company or to The American Diabetes Assn., 315 Alberta Dr., Amherst, NY.

Lila Jean Folts (nee Woodruff)
Lila Jean Folts (nee Woodruff), 81, of Conroe, Texas, formerly of Springville, passed away January 6, 2005. Wife of the late Clyde D. Folts; mother of Joni (David) Crowell of Forest, Va. and Linda (Donald) Staggs of Conroe, Texas; grandmother of Michael (Shellie) Winkler of The Woodlands, Texas; great-grandmother of Meagan, Ryan and Rylie Winkler; daughter of the late Leon and Ada Woodruff; sister of Verlie Woodruff of Florence, S.C., and the late Earl Woodruff, Norman Woodruff, Una Krotz, Hazel Dawley and Judy Wittmeyer; special friend of Hariette Widrig of Springville. A memorial service was held Monday, January 10 from The Chapel at Conroe Funeral Directors, Conroe, Texas, with Tom Hodgeden officiating.

Ruth M. Hamilton (nee Fogelsonger), January 27, 2005, of Springville. Mother of Judith C. (Samuel) Puleo. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial was in White Chapel Cemetery, Amherst. Arrangements were made by the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, Inc., 271 East Main Street, Springville.

Lois A. Barletta (nee Deemer) of Springville, February 4, 2005. Wife of Alfred P. Barletta; mother of Dr. Daniel (Nancy), Donald, Nancy and Carolyn (Chet) Ogrodnik; grandmother of Christopher, Robert, Caitlin, Torey, Danny, Aaron and Sammy; sister of Tom (Barbara), Marlin (Barbara), Luke (Kathy), Doris (Asher) Gailbraith, Jim (Polly) and Carol (Allan) Cooke. A prayer service was held Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock from the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, Inc., 271 East Main Street, Springville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial from St. Aloyius Church, Springville at 10:30. The Rev. John Kwiecien officiated.

James A. Martin
James A. Martin, 64, of East Concord, February 4, 2005 at Bertrand Chaffee Hospital. Husband of the late Dolores Williams Martin; father of Dennis (Dawn) Pickard of Cheektowaga, Theresa (Phillip) Brooks of Houston, Hollie Pickard of Lancaster, Brenda Martin (Marc Rummenie) of South Wales and Pauline (Jeremy) Johnson of East Concord; grandfather of Carey Ann, Nina and Amanda Pickard, Blake Kaleel, Raven and Phoenix Johnson, and Ryan Benzin; also survived by three great-grandchildren. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the East Aurora Blazing Star Lodge #694 F.&A.M. of which Mr. Martin was a past master.

Thomas R. Krezmien, February 8, 2005. He was born Feb. 11, 1942. Loving husband of Susan (Bates); loving father of Maria (Don) VanDermeer, Elizabeth (late John) Skorka, Mary Ellen (Paul) Armbrust, Michael and Christopher (Rachael); devoted grandfather of Sean, Chelsea and Colby VanDermeer, Shaylynn and Colson Skorka, and Siena Arm- brust; brother of Stanley (Betty) Krezmien, Marie (Lloyd) McIntosh, Mark (Norma) Krezmien, and the late Lawrence (Joan), Francis (Jeanne) and Charles (Roseanne) Krezmien. Friends may call Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, 271 East Main Street, Springville, where prayers will be said Friday morning at 10 o'clock, followed by funeral services from St. Aloysius Church, Springville at 10:30. Edward J. Huber, February 5, 2005, of Springville. Husband of the late Diane C. Huber (nee Monroe); father of Kelly Rae Phillips and Robert K. Huber; also survived by five grandchildren. James Gillis
James Gillis, January 29, 2005, of Delevan, formerly of Boston. Father of Lucille (John) Zelter; grandfather of James, Jared and Jennifer; brother of the late John Gillis; also survived by his wife Lucille (Spors) Gillis. A memorial service was held Friday afternoon, Feb. 4, from the Colden United Methodist Church, Colden.

Lawrence Arthur DeGrange
Lawrence Arthur DeGrange, 68, March 19, 2005 following a battle with esophageal cancer. He was a long-time resident of West Valley and in his later years also resided in Florida.
He was retired and had been known for his business, Larry DeGrange & Son Excavating and Snow-Jet dealership in West Valley. Larry was a long-time member of the Springville Lions Club, a private pilot and aviation enthusiast.
He was the son of the late Kathleen (Weber) Emerson; husband of Carolyn; father of Michael DeGrange and Kathleen Hebdon; grandfather of Elizabeth Marie DeGrange and Nicole, Nadine and Nathan Hebdon; stepfather of Sid and Chad Roberts; and uncle of Donald Farley and Richard Warner.
A New York memorial service will be held in July.

Swift, Deborah L. (Walter) Wild and Cynthia J. (Al) Stevenson; also survived by 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brother of Robert Batterson. Son of Norman A. and Jessie (Reid) Vance of Collins; companion of Karen Kenngott of Collins; brother of William, Daniel (Gina), Amy (Kim Lewis) Vance, all of Collins, Kathy (Elwood) Mohawk of Gowanda, and William (Peggy) Young of Hamburg; also survived by nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock from the Schindler Funeral Home, 44 Center St., Gowanda. Eleanor R. Ploger of Springville, March 26, 2005. Wife of the late Donald G. Ploger, mother of Kevin L. (Denise) Ploger, Corrine A. (Dwain) Westfall, and the late Erwin D.
