Verstreate, Muriel M. (Merkel), On July 19, 2008, at age 70. She is survived by her children, Robin (Dave) Sanza, Vicky (Terry) Brown, Sandy, Bobby, Charles Verstreate; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; brother Stephen Merkel; many nieces and nephews.
Private interment. Contributions can be made to the Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center c/o Lifetime Care, 3111 Winton Road South, Rochester, NY 14623 in her memory.

Mance, Thomas C., July 21, 2008, age 85. Predeceased by his wife Sarah "Sally", 1976. Survived by his children Charles (Theresa), Patricia, Bruce, Lawrence (Joyce) and Christine Mance; six grandchildren, Thomas (Christy), Stephen, Peter, Timothy, Rebecca and Heidi Mance; two great-grandchildren, Christopher and Avia; two brothers, Daniel (Elaine) and Paul (Mary Ann) Mance; sister-in-law, Janet Mance; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Also predeceased by his brother James. He was a WWII Combat Veteran and a Kodak retiree, 1981.
A Funeral Mass was said July 25 at St. Leo Church, Hilton, followed by a Military Graveside Service at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Contributions can be made to Diabetes, Heart or Lung Associations, or Masses offered in his memory.

Bourcy, Paul C., On July 19, 2008. Predeceased by his wife, Betsy on July 23, 2000. Survived by two sons, Rev. Robert Scott Bourcy and Paul Richard Bourcy; grandson, Neil Bourcy; sister-in-law, Marilyn Bailey; special friend, Mary Cassidy; nieces and nephews. Paul was a licensed funeral director for over 50 years in the Rochester area, and was secretary of the Funeral Directors Association from 1967 to 1981, a member of Holy Ghost Church for over 50 years and an Army Veteran of WWII.
A Funeral Mass was said July 24 at Holy Ghost Church. Interment, Holy Ghost Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the Fairport Baptist Home, 4646 Nine Mile Point Road, Fairport 14450 or to Holy Ghost Church in his memory.

Gross, Shana C., July 12, 2008. Survived by her parents, Glenn and Janet; six year old daughter, Nevaeh; grandmother, Bernice Manley; brothers, Jason (Maria), Shawn, Jeremy and Jacob; several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service was held July 20 at First Bible Baptist Church. Private interment. Contributions can be made in her memory to Janet Gross, 112 Huffer Road, Hilton 14468 to ensure Nevaeh's future education.

Johns, David L., January 24, 2002 at age 75, formerly of Hilton. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Colt Baccaro; two grandchildren, Michael and Kelly Baccaro; his sister, Carol (Richard) Deys; several nieces and nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Catherine, 1994 and his son, David, 1972. He was a member of Wakan-Hubbard Masonic Lodge, #154.
A Celebration of his life was held January 27 at the Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, Inc., Hilton. Private interment, Falls Cemetery. Those wishing can make contributions to the Masonic Service Bureau in his memory.

Gianfagna, Alfred J., January 24, 2002, at the age of 83. He was born on January 1, 1919 on Staten Island, NY, the second youngest of five children born to Josephine and Libero Gianfagna. He graduated from SUNY Farmingdale in 1939, then received a bachelor's and master's degree from Cornell University in Horticulture. He continued post-graduate studies at Cornell and later did research at Rutgers University. He worked as a consultant for Garden, Lawn and Farm Company in Middletown, New York and later at Penn State University as an extension horticultural agent from 1956-1963.
He was tenured at SUNY Brockport in Botany and was responsible for the development of the greenhouse and horticultural courses there. He retired from teaching in 1983 and continued on as a horticultural consultant for Fred Micha Tree and Landscape Consultants, Inc.
He married Mildred Palladino in 1946 and had three children; Jo-Ann Esrick, a French and Spanish high school teacher in Elmont, NY; Alfred, a pediatrician in Watertown, NY and Robert, a cardiologist in Buffalo. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, three children and 11 grandchildren.
In retirement, he was an active volunteer at the Butterfly House at the Thompson Park Zoo in Watertown, NY. He volunteered at the Brockport Ecumenical Food Shelf, was a member of the Knights of Columbus and numerous local and national Horticultural societies.
A Mass of Christian Burial was said January 28 at the Church of the Nativity B.V.M., Brockport. Interment, Mt. Olivet Cemetery in the spring of the year. Contributions can be made in his memory to Nativity Church or Lakeside Memorial Hospital.

Cauvel, David W., Suddenly, Sunday, January 27, 2002 at age 47. He was predeceased by his father, Harold Cauvel. He is survived by his mother, Barbara Cauvel; his brother Douglas Cauvel of Grand Rapids, Michigan; his sister, Nancy (Greg) Pimm of Churchville; sister-in-law Cheryl Lester of Michigan; nephews Charles (Amiee) Cauvel and Michael (Kalonny) Cauvel, both of Michigan; nieces, Pamela (Timothy) Gaffney and Amanda Pimm, both of Churchville; great nephews, Kenneth Gaffney and Jordan Collins.
Funeral Services and interment at the convenience of the family. Contributions can be made to the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center, 745 West Avenue, Rochester, NY 14611 in his memory.

Dyer, Robert S. "Scott," Peacefully on January 22, 2002 at age 43 with the love and support of his family. Predeceased by his father, Francis Dyer (1990). He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Sandy Dyer; his mother Eleanor Dyer; his children, Heather and Robert Dyer; brother, Craig Dyer; sister, Patricia (Kenneth) Hopper; mother and father-in-law, Ron (Cathy) Forbes; brothers-in-law, Ron (Pam) and David Forbes; also many nieces, nephew and close friends.
A Service celebrating his life was held January 26 at the Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, Inc., East Avenue, Hilton. Private inunment at Lakeside Cemetery, Hamlin. Memorial donations can be made to Scott's Children College Fund, P.O. Box 745, Hilton 14468 in Scott's memory.

Piccirillo, Frank J. Sr., On January 23, 2002 at the age of 74. He was predeceased by his son, Stan in 1981. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Frances; daughters, Louise (Klaus) Pohl of Hamlin, Marie Elena Piccirillo of Scottsmore, Florida; sons, Frank J. Jr. (Penny) of Ormond, Florida and Michael M. (Diane) of Rexford, NY; grandchildren, Kristina (Daniel) Stevens of Byron, Jennifer Pohl, Corey and Francesca Piccirillo; brother, Mario Piccirillo of New Jersey; sisters, Betty Brotons and Mary LaMarco both of Brooklyn, NY; several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated January 26 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Hamlin. Interment at the conve-nience of the family. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Lakeside Foundation.

Lynch, Marjorie, January 26, 2002. Retiree of Xerox. Surviving brother, David (Georgia) Lynch of Spencerport; niece, Kathleen Rodriquez; nephew, David Lynch, both of Spencerport; one grand niece; three grand nephews.
Funeral Services were held January 30 at St. Mary's Cemetery Chapel, Hornell, NY. Contributions can be made to the Hilton Ambulance, Hilton, NY 14468 or American Lung Association, 1595 Elmwood Avenue, Rochester 14620.
