George LeRoy
March 30, 2000
George LeRoy, 89, of Langley Road, Minaville, died early Thursday morning at home after a short illness.
He was born June 17, 1910, in the town of Florida, the son of Frank and Carrie Brandenburg LeRoy. He was a lifelong town of Florida resident and attended Minaville country school.
Mr. LeRoy first worked in road and bridge construction for various companies throughout New York state. He then went to work for American Locomotive in Schenectady for 26 years, he worked as a mechanic for Parsons Ford for a short time, and most recently he worked for Cady Construction in Amsterdam until his retirement in 1975.
He attended the Florida Reformed Church.
He was the former president and a founding member of the Florida Volunteer Fire Department, the Chuctanunda Fish & Game Club and the Forest Preserve Users Snowmobile Club. He was an avid snowmobiler and hunter.
He married Margaret Olmstead Aug. 19, 1939.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Peggy Bahn of West Boylston, Mass., Nancy Utter of Wittmann, Ariz., and the Rev. Joan Abell of Boca Raton, Fla.; a sister, Carrie Gray of Clifton Park; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Florida Reformed Church, Minaville, with the Rev. Joan LeRoy Abell officiating.
Burial will be in Chuctanunda Cemetery, Minaville, in the spring.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Florida Reformed Church, Florida Volunteer Fire Department, Community Hospice of Amsterdam, or the Greater Amsterdam Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Luis Murillo
March 29, 2000
Luis "Arrieta" Murillo, 91, of Alajuela, Costa Rica, died Wednesday evening at home.
He was born Dec. 15, 1908, in Santa Barbara, Heredia, Costa Rica, and was educated there. He lived in Amsterdam for a short time before returning to Costa Rica.
He was a driver for the Costa Rican government until retiring.
He was a communicant of Iglesia Carmen Roman Catholic Church in Alajuela.
Survivors include his wife, Yolanda Salas de Murillo; three daughters, Yolanda Phillips, Xinia Murillo and Gilda Rodriguez, all of Alajuela; a son, Carlos L. Murillo of Amsterdam; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services and burial are today in Alajuela.
A memorial services will be scheduled at a later date at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam.
Local arrangements are by the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam.

Mary Constantine
March 29, 2000
Mary L. Constantine, 59, of Fifth Avenue, Gloversville, died Wednesday at Albany Medical Center Hospital.
She was born April 1, 1940, in Broadalbin, the daughter of John and Eva Waite Sanborn. She lived in Amsterdam for more than 30 years, and lived in Gloversville since 1996.
She worked at the state Department of Taxation and Finance in Albany for many years.
She was a communicant of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Gloversville.
She married Frank Constantine Feb. 19, 1977. He died Dec. 8, 1997.
Survivors include her mother, Eva La Mont of Gloversville; a son, Michael Natole of Amsterdam; three daughters, Marlene Gardner of Amsterdam, Diane Rackowski of Cobleskill, and Betsy Helm of East Greenbush; a step-daughter, Jean Carlson of Amsterdam; two sisters, Julia Wagner of Gloversville and Elizabeth E. Buseck of Gloversville; and 16 grandchildren.
The funeral is 10 a.m. Monday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, followed at 11 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, Gloversville.
Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Johnstown.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Owen Germain
March 28, 2000
Owen E. Germain, 78, of Howell Street, Rotterdam, died Tuesday at home.
He was born in Saratoga Springs and lived in the Rotterdam area since 1946.
He was a machinist at the Navy Depot and the Watervliet Arsenal for 26 years, retiring in 1972.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in Europe and participating in the Normandy invasion. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
Mr. Germain was a member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 88 and a noble of Cypress Temple AAONMS and St. George's Council 174.
He married Emilie Dropalski in 1945. She died last year.
Survivors include his mother, Lanita Germain of Rhinebeck; a daughter, Donna Germain Rader of Winston-Salem, N.C.; two sons, Owen E. Germain Jr. of Galway and Jeffrey L. Germain of Scotia; two brothers, Robert L. Germain of Argyle and Donald H. Germain of Winchester, Va.; a sister, Pauline Mackas of Wethersfield, Conn.; and five grandchildren.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Saturday at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady.
Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul's Cemetery, Waterford.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Charles Williams
March 30, 2000
Charles Earl Williams Sr., 60, of Fleming Avenue, Ormond Beach, Fla., died Thursday at home.
He was born in Allamuchy, N.J., and moved to Florida from Ballston Spa in 1997.
Mr. Williams was a foreman at Septic Service.
He was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Williams; four daughters, Linnie Dalton, Kelly Sapp, Penny Kuhn and Amy Power, all of West Virginia; three brothers, Floyd Williams of Tennessee, Clayton Williams of Troy, and James Williams of Gloversville; a sister, Hazel O'Dell of Gloversville; a step-sister, Anna Taylor of Gloversville; and six grandchildren.
Cremation will take place at the Newlife Cremation and Funeral Chapel in Ormond Beach.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, Fla. 32119.

Helen Priore
March 17, 2000
Helen Rose Priore, 91, of Valhalla, died March 17.
She was born Nov. 4, 1908, in White Plains, the daughter of Rocco and Anne DePalo.
Mrs. Priore worked as a New York Telephone operator until her marriage to John P. Priore in 1937, when they moved to Valhalla.
She was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Parish and a member of the Rosary Altar Society, both of Valhalla.
Survivors include two sons, Vito Priore of Valhalla and John Priore of Mahopac; two sisters, May Voris and Joan Taggert; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral was March 22 at Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Valhalla.
Arrangements were by the Maher Funeral Home in Pleasantville.

Robert Stewart
April 5, 2000
Robert C. Stewart, 90, of Town Barn Road, Benson, died Wednesday at Albany Veterans Administration Hospital after a long illness.
He was born in Gloversville and graduated from Gloversville High School and Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Westfield, Mass.
He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific.
He worked for the Socony Oil Co. prior to the war and later for many construction companies. He retired from Lane Construction, Meridan, Conn., in 1965.
He was a past member of Masonic Lodge 531, Fulton, and a past commandant of the Marine Corps League of Fulton County.
He served as the town of Benson highway superintendent and also supervisor. He also served as a former deputy sheriff for Hamilton County.
Mr. Stewart was a member of Northampton United Methodist Church, Fishhouse.
His wife, the former Elizabeth Morey, died in 1996.
Survivors include several cousins, nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 10 a.m. Saturday at the Northville Funeral Home, 401 Bridge St., Northville.
Burial will be in Mayfield Cemetery.
Calling hours are 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Vera Cull
April 5, 2000
Vera Cull, 68, of Rowland Street, Ballston Spa, died Wednesday at Saratoga Hospital, Saratoga Springs, after a long illness.
She was born in Cheshire, England, and lived in Ballston Spa since 1949.
She was a waitress in the Ballston Spa area for many years.
She married Walter Cull Jan. 1, 1950.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two daughters, Norma Curtis of Greenfield Center and Jayne Horton of Cobleskill; two sons, Ronald Cull of Ballston Spa and Paul Cull of Galway; two sisters, Joan Waring of Round Lake and Dorothy Connon of Mobile, Ala.; and 12 grandchildren.
The funeral is 8 p.m. Friday at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 25 Hyde Blvd., Ballston Spa.
Burial will be in Dunning Street Cemetery.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Robert Traudt
April 5, 2000
Robert J. Traudt, 57, of Maple Avenue, Canajoharie, died Wednesday at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam after a long illness.
He was born Jan. 3, 1943, in Amsterdam, the son of Frederick J. and Gladys L. Buddle Traudt. He graduated from Canajoharie High School in 1962 and was a lifelong area resident.
He was employed by the Beech-Nut Nutrition Corp. as a fork lift operator for 33 years.
He was a communicant of Sts. Peter and Paul's Roman Catholic Church.
He was a member of the Canajoharie Volunteer Fire Department since 1987 and a member of the Canajoharie Fire Department Exempt.
He bowled in the Sunday Night Mixed League and the Beech-Nut Maintenance League.
He married Katherine E. Brennan April 15, 1967. She died Feb. 23 of this year.
Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick J. Traudt Sr. of Canajoharie; a son, Matthew A. Traudt of Sprakers; a brother, Frederick J. Traudt Jr. of Canajoharie; two sisters, Mary King of New Milford, Conn., and Susan Beaver of Canajoharie; and a granddaughter.
The funeral is 10 a.m. Saturday at the chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home Inc., 20 Otsego St., Canajoharie, with the Rev. Kenneth Dingman officiating.
Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul's Cemetery at a later date.
Calling hours are 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Bettye Kenney
April 5, 2000
Bettye M. Kenney, 79, of Mayfield, died Wednesday at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville.
She was born in Gloversville and was a graduate of Gloversville High School. She was a lifelong resident of Gloversville and Mayfield.
She worked for the Winig Slipper Co., Gloversville, and retired from the shipping department of St. Thomas Leather Co., Gloversville.
She married Frank Kenney in 1944.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Dale Kenney of Mayfield; a daughter, Maxine Bucholtz of Ballston Spa; a brother, Donald Cruthers of Mayfield; a sister, Dawn Schrader of Gloversville; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 10 a.m. Saturday at the Hollenbeck Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville.
Burial will be in Broadalbin Cemetery at a later date.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
