Maureen Lake-Clark
May 21, 2000
Maureen Lake-Clark, 51, of Johnstown, died Sunday at home following a short illness.
She was born July 29, 1948, in Rochester, the daughter of William D. and Theresa Guarneri Hartman. She graduated from Johnstown High School in 1965 and was a lifelong area resident.
She was employed by the Greater Johnstown School District for 30 years, most recently as a secretary to the principal of Knox Junior High School.
Mrs. Lake-Clark was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Johnstown, Johnstown Eagles, Johnstown DAR, state and national PTA, and CSEA past president.
Survivors include two sons, Steven Lake of Tucson, Ariz., and Robert Lake Jr. of Johnstown; one daughter, Anastaisia Lake of Johnstown; a sister, Joan Flanagan of Rochester; four grandchildren; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Church, Glebe Street, Johnstown, with the Rev. James Fitzmaurice officiating.
Burial is in Johnstown Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 E. Main St., Johnstown.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

Thomas Van Kleeck
graveside service
A graveside service is scheduled at 2 p.m. Friday in Union Mills Cemetery, Broadalbin, for Thomas L. Van Kleeck, who died Feb. 3.
The Rev. David Deuel will officiate.

Elizabeth Mabie
March 27, 2000
Elizabeth B. Mabie, 87, of Cincinnati, died March 27.
She was born Jan. 3, 1913, in Amsterdam, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Bleau. She was educated in Amsterdam and graduated with an RN degree from the Albany School of Nursing.
She was employed at Christ Hospital and then in private pediatric practice in Cincinnati.
She married William J. Mabie Oct. 17, 1936. He died Sept. 23, 1983.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Claire Reilly.
Survivors include a daughter, Ellen Ottlinger; a brother, William D. Bleau of Mount Carroll, Ill.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial service was held April 5 at Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Church in Cincinnati.
Interment is Friday in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill, with the Rev. Dan J. Wheeler of United Presbyterian Church in Amsterdam, officiating.

Mary Dozier
May 21, 2000
Mary R. Dozier, 85, of Gloversville, died Sunday at Nathan Littauer Nursing Home after a long illness.
She was born in Queens and attended school in Ireland and England before returning to the United States in the 1920s. She was a longtime resident of Sayville before moving to Gloversville in 1994.
She worked as a secretary for Sperry's Gyroscope in Great Neck, retiring in 1965.
Mrs. Dozier was a member of Sacred Hearth Church of Gloversville.
She married Joseph Dozier in 1930. He died April 11, 1966.
Survivors include a son, Alan J. Dozier of Sayville; a daughter, Patricia A. Garnier of Gloversville; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of St. John, Nepomucene, Bohemia.
Burial is in the cemetery of the Church of St. John, Nepomucene, Bohemia.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Capital District Chapter, 85 Watervliet Ave., Albany 12206-2083.
Arrangements are by the Finocan Funeral Home, 13 Prospect Ave., Gloversville.

Irma Doak
May 22, 2000
Irma A. Doak, 80, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., formerly of Amsterdam, died Monday at home.
She was born in Amsterdam and moved to Florida in 1981.
Prior to retirement, she was a phone operator with AT&T/Ninex in Amsterdam for 30 years.
Mrs. Doak was a member of St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church in Jensen Beach, a member of the Telephone Pioneers, and an avid bowler.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Ellwyn Doak of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; two sons, Timothy Doak of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Brian Doak of Livingston, Mont.; a daughter, Dianne Hughes of Lewisburg, Pa.; a sister, Eleanor Perger of Hagaman; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Martin De Porres in Jensen Beach.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Martin & St. Lucie Inc., 2030 S.E. Ocean Blvd., Stuart, Fla. 34996.
Arrangements are by the Roger L. Byrd Pt. St. Lucie Funeral Home.

Roy Cady
May 22, 2000
Roy A. Cady, 83, of Gloversville, died Monday at Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home, following a long illness.
He was born Jan. 11, 1917, in Gloversville, the son of Truman and Cynthia Seeley Cady. He was a lifelong area resident.
He was an Army veteran on World War II where he received the Victory Medal, American Service medal, Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, Philippines Liberation Ribbon, and was discharged with the rank of corporal.
He was employed by Continental Mills of Gloversville, retiring in 1983.
Survivors include his wife, Della Baker Cady, whom he married May 26, 1973.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 E. Main St., Johnstown.
Burial is in Fern Dale Cemetery, Johnstown.
Calling hours are 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Gene Dampier
May 22, 2000
Gene P. Dampier, 75, of Griffith Road, Wells, died Monday at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, after a long illness.
She was born in Amsterdam and was a 1943 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. She lived in Wells for the past 55 years.
She worked for the Serfis Glove Co. in Wells and was a clerk at the former Perry's Store in Wells for many years.
Mrs. Dampier was a communicant of the Wells United Methodist Church.
She married Robert E. Dampier Aug. 17, 1947.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Robert C. Dampier of Wells; a brother, Raymond Luke of Perth; a sister, Avis Troutman of Amsterdam; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday at Northville Funeral Home, 401 Bridge St., Northville.
Burial is in Algonquin Cemetery.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wells United Methodist Church or the Wells Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Nelson Darrach
May 22, 2000
Nelson Darrach Sr., 95, of Montgomery Meadows, Amsterdam, died Monday at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, after a short illness.
He was born Feb. 1, 1905, in Prince Edward Island, Canada, the son of Hugh D. and Elizabeth Beer Darrach. He was educated in Canada and came to the U.S. with his family 70 years ago.
He was a dairy farmer in Stone Arabia, retiring in 1974.
He married the former Leona B. Smith in 1930. She died Aug. 15, 1986.
Survivors include two sons, Nelson Darrach II of Stone Arabia and Victor Darrach of Ephratah; a daughter, Bertha Baker of Sicklerville, N.J.; four sisters, Mary Jobe and Annie Harbster, both of Canajoharie, Ella Slatter of Fonda, and Sarah Winsman of Randall; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.
The funeral is noon Friday at Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center St., Fort Plain, with the Rev. Kenneth Dingman officiating.
Burial is in Ephratah Rural Cemetery.
Calling hours are 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the funeral home.

Evelyn Lunkenheimer
May 22, 2000
Evelyn M. Lunkenheimer, formerly of Eighth Avenue, Gloversville, died Monday at the Fulton County Residential Health Facility, where she was a resident since 1997.
She was born in Northville. She graduated from Broadalbin High School and attended its teacher's training class.
Mrs. Lunkenheimer was a 1925 graduate of Oneonta Normal School and taught kindergarten through grade 12 for three years at area rural schools.
From 1928 to 1943, she worked in the auditing department of the former FJ&G Railroad. She then worked in the billing and auditing departments at Curtin and Herbert Co. from 1965 until retiring in 1983.
Mrs. Lunkenheimer was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of the Merchants Bowling League.
She married Howard Lunkenheimer Aug. 3, 1939. He died in 1969.
Survivors include a son, H. Gary Lunkenheimer of Gloversville; two sisters, Coe Forbes of Needham, Mass., and Shirley Sawyer of Summit, N.J.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A prayer service is scheduled at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Finocan Funeral Home, 13 Prospect Ave., Gloversville, followed at 9:30 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, 189 Kingsboro Ave., Gloversville.
Burial is in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Northville.
Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the church.

Howard Earl
May 22, 2000
Howard R. Earl, 72, of Union Mills Road, Galway, died Monday at home after a short illness.
He was born in Broadalbin and was a lifelong area resident.
He was a construction worker and a member of the Laborer's Union Local 157 of Schenectady until an accident forced his retirement in 1984.
Mr. Earl was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church, Broadalbin.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of the Seabees.
He married Louise Falcone July 28, 1945.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Daniel G. Earl of Broadalbin; six daughters, Constance Bollen of Broadalbin, Janet Fullington and Christine Antle, both of Cape Coral, Fla., Paula Orozco of San Antonio, and Jamie Earl of Johnstown; a sister, Hazel Lynaugh of Johnstown; two brothers, George Earl of Galway and William Earl of Gloversville; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, 38 W. Main St., Broadalbin, followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's Church, 2 North St., Broadalbin.
Burial is in Union Mills Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Providence Volunteer Ambulance Corps or to St. Joseph's Church roof fund.
