Peter Pranys
June 9, 2000
Peter E. Pranys, 81, of Valley View road, Fultonville, died Friday at the Oneida Community Hospital after being stricken while in vacation.
He was born Sept. 6, 1918, in Amsterdam, a son of Carl and Anna Czarnauskas Pranys. He was educated locally and moved to Fultonville from Tribes Hill 15 years ago.
He was a custodian for the Fonda-Fultonville Central School, retiring in 1985.
Mr. Pranys was a communicant of St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam.
He was a member of the Tribes Hill Volunteer Fire Department, the Tribes Hill Fish and Game Club, and the Reid Hill Fish and Game Club.
Survivors include three sons, Peter E. Pranys Jr. of San Carlos, Calif; Paul Pranys of Amsterdam, and Joseph Pranys of Burlington, Vt.; two daughters, Margaret I. Nash of Schenectady and Elizabeth Hentnik of Amsterdam; three sisters, Vera Jerolemon and Leona Zakarka, both of Amsterdam, and Mary Vageline of Larimore, N.D.; 10 grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral is 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, followed at 9:15 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Stanley J. Swierzowski as celebrant.
Interment is in St. Casimir's Cemetery.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Tribes Hill Volunteer Fire Department in care of the funeral home.

Elizabeth Fralick
June 10, 2000
Elizabeth C. Fralick, 90, formerly of Willett Street, Fort Plain, died Saturday at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home after a long illness.
She was born Aug. 21, 1909, in the town of Minden, the daughter of Charles and Lydia Acker Ballard. She was educated at Sand Hill School.
She was a sewing machine operator for the Luxuray Mill in Fort Plain and Canajoharie Manufacturing.
Mrs. Fralick was of the Presbyterian faith.
She married Lincoln Fralick Sr. Sept. 21, 1924. He died in 1985.
She was predeceased by two sons, Lincoln Fralick Jr. and Vermard Fralick.
Survivors include three daughters, Lydia Smith and Lexie Blakeslee, both of Fort Plain, and Betty Hamilton of Canajoharie; a son, Elmer Frank of Orlando, Fla.; 27 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral is 10 a.m. Wednesday at Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center St., Fort Plain, with the Rev. Alan Baumback officiating.
Burial is in Ames Cemetery.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 126, Canajoharie 13317.

William Sheridan
June 11, 2000
William Joseph Sheridan, 68, of York, Pa., died Sunday at York Hospital in York, Pa.
He was born June 30, 1931, in Brooklyn, the son of James and Mary Forde Sheridan.
He was a retired fire chief.
Survivors include three sons, Dr. Michael M. Sheridan of Amsterdam, and William J. Sheridan and Brian P. Sheridan, both of Queens; a brother, James P. Sheridan of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a sister, Margaret Blaine of Long Island; and seven grandchildren.
The funeral will be private.
Burial will be private in Old Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 924 N. Colonial Avenue, York, PA 17403 or to York Health System, c/o Development Office, 1001 S. George Street, York, PA 17405.
Arrangements are by the Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, Pa.

Anne M. Page, 86, formerly of Mohawk Drive, Tribes Hill, died Monday evening at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home after a long illness.
Arrangements, by the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church St., Amsterdam, are incomplete and will be announced.

Domenic Hayden
graveside service
A private graveside service is scheduled Wednesday in Fort Plain Cemetery for Domenic Hayden, who died Nov. 6, 1999. The Rev. Kenneth J. Swain will officiate.
Arrangements are by the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego St., Canajoharie.

Raymond Van Vranken
June 14, 2000
Raymond A. Van Vranken, 79, of State Route 29A, Johnstown, died Wednesday at home after being stricken.
He was born in Northville and was a longtime resident of Johnstown.
He was self-employed in the logging/wood business.
He married Ruth Perham Sept. 9, 1939. She died in 1992.
Survivors include five daughters, Patricia Ann White, Ruth Waddle and Charlotte Wilkes, all of Caroga Lake, Catherine Ann Spiery of Colorado, and Susan Van Vranken of Gloversville; four sons, Sanford Van Vranken, John Van Vranken, Robert Van Vranken, and James Alan Van Vranken, all of Gloversville; two sisters, Nina Ferguson and Thelma Hart, both of Gloversville; 30 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service is 10 a.m. Saturday at Fern Dale Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Arrangements are by the Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, Gloversville.

Stella Smith
June 15, 2000
Stella Damiano Smith, 74, of Yates Village, Schenectady, died Thursday at Ellis Hospital after a long illness.
She was born and educated in Schenectady.
She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Parish and a member of the Annie Schaffer Senior Citizens Center.
She married Francis P. Smith in 1944. he died in 1987.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph P. Smith of Schenectady and James P. Smith of Jefferson; a daughter, Karen A. Roach of Amsterdam; two sisters, Nina Potente of Schenectady and Carmella "Vickie" Grzelecki of Scotia; a brother, Armando Compoli of Schenectady; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday at the N. Rossi & Sons Funeral Home, Union at North Jay streets, Schenectady, followed at noon by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, Seward Place.
Burial is in St. Anthony's Cemetery.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Danny Parker
June 13, 2000
Danny A. Parker Jr., 44, of Fort Hill Court, Wilton, died Tuesday at Albany Medical Center.
He was born in Corinth and was a graduate of Warrensburg High School.
He was a driver for Davis Transport, Ballston Spa, for several years.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Trudy Lynn Morris Parker; his mother, Gladys Mosher Parker of Johnstown; two daughters, Tammy Parker of Saratoga Springs and Bobby-Jo Parker of Lansingburgh; a son, Danny Parker Jr. of Saratoga Springs; six sisters, Gladys Davis of Castle Hills, Colo., Deborah Johnson of Glens Falls, Mildred Edwards of Largo, Fla., Cathy Rebecca and Lisa Parker, both of Johnstown, and Kim Clagg of Ballston Spa; and a grandson.
The funeral was held at the William J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home, Saratoga Springs.
Burial will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in care of Paul Petrowski, P.O. Box 59, Saratoga Springs 12866.

John Sartin

John Sartin, 47, of Fishouse Road, Town of Providence, died Saturday after being stricken at home.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam.

Harry Miner Sr.
June 16, 2000
Harry L. Miner, Sr., 65, of Stone Arabia Road, Town of Palatine, died Friday at home after a brief illness.
Born in Russell Hill, Pa. on Oct. 25, 1934, he was the son of Lawrence and Hazel Gould Miner Sr. He was a 1952 graduate of Tunkhannock High School and had lived in the Palatine area since 1952.
Mr. Miner was owner and operator of G & H Sporting Goods, Fort Plain, until his retirement. He was of the Protestant faith.
He married the former Patricia Van Evera on Feb. 17, 1973.
Besides his wife, survivors include two daughters, Nola Leamon of Fultonville and Lenore Miner of Florida; three sons, Harry Miner Jr. of Palatine Bridge, Charles and Gary Miner, both of Florida; a sister, Joy Hopkinson of Fort Plain; a brother, Lawrence Miner Jr. of Fort Plain; several grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews and cousins.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Gray-Houghtaling and Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center St., Fort Plain with the Rev. Kenneth Dingman officiating. Burial will be in Ephratah Rural Cemetery.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Sofija Messak
June 17, 2000
Sofija Messak, 76, of Northern Boulevard, Amsterdam, died Saturday at St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Drohuwyz, Ukraine, she was the daughter of Nicholas and Paranka Janiw. She was educated in Ukraine and had lived in Amsterdam since 1951.
Mrs. Messak was employed by American Glove Co., Amsterdam for 48 years. She was a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church.
She was predeceased by her husband, Michael Messak, who died in 1975.
Survivors include three sons, Walter Messak of Amsterdam, Myron Messak of Mayfield and Bohdan Messak of Alvarado, Texas; three brothers, Walter Janiw of Carteret, N.J. and Nicholas and Greg Janiw, both of Ukraine; a sister, Katerina, of Ukraine; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church St., Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Community Hospice of Amsterdam or to the charity of one's choice.

Clifford Hayes Sr.
June 17, 2000
Clifford D. Hayes Sr., 97, of Union Street, Fultonville, died Saturday at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility, Amsterdam.
Arrangements are incomplete and are under the direction of the Jackson and Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St., Fultonville.

Richard Crews
June 30, 2000
Richard C. Crews, 63, of State Route 163, Fort Plain, died Friday at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, after a brief illness.
He was born Aug. 21, 1916, in North Adams, Mass., the son of Cecil R. and Pearl Andrews Crews. He was a 1954 graduate of Canajoharie High School.
He was the owner and operator of Richard Crews Auto Parts in Nelliston for more than 40 years.
He was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Crews served in the U.S. Army. He served in the Reserves from 1958 to 1964.
He married Margaret A. Lachmayer Dec. 29, 1962.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include his mother, Pearl Crews of Cortland; two sons, Richard Crews Jr. of Fort Plain and Robert Crews of Johnstown; a daughter, Roberta Winsman of Palatine Bridge; two brothers, James Crews Sr. and Roger Crews Sr., both of Fort Plain; three sisters, Connie D'Arcangelis of Fort Plain, Barbara Pedrick of Georgia, and Linda West of Cortland; six grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service is scheduled at 10 a.m. Thursday at Fort Plain Cemetery with the Rev. Kenneth Dingman officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 73 N. Main St., Gloversville 12078; or the American Cancer Society, 1450 Western Ave., Room 101, Albany 12203-3572.
Arrangements are by the Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center St., Fort Plain.
