Mary S. Nowicki
February 19, 2001
Mary S. DeMartino Nowicki, 78, of Schenectady, died Monday, February 19, 2001 at the Glendale Home after a brief illness.
She was born in Schenectady and was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society. Mary was also a graduate of Ellis School of Nursing and worked at the hospital afterward.
She was married in 1947 to Stanley J. Nowicki and they enjoyed 52 years together before his passing in 1999.
Mary is survived by three sons, John J. Nowicki of Albany, Robert S. Nowicki of Ballston Spa and James E. Nowicki of Niskayuna. She is the sister of Dorothea Salvadore of Schenectady and Michael DeMartino of Clifton Park. She is also survived by four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday morning at 10:30 at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155, south of Central Ave.). There will be no calling hours.
Interment will be in Memory's Garden.
At the request of the family, contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union Street, Schenectady, N.Y. 12306, in memory of Mrs. Nowicki.

Mary Zwolak

Mrs. Mary Zwolak of Crane Street, Amsterdam, died Wednesday evening at her home after being stricken.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church Street.

Thomas W. Leavenworth
February 19, 2001
Thomas W. Leavenworth, 92, of Henrietta Blvd., Amsterdam, died Monday while being cared for by his granddaughter, Linda Sharp, at her home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced by the Betz, Rossi, & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam.

Raffaela C. McNeill
March 19, 2001
Raffaela C. McNeill, 63, of Perkins Street, Amsterdam, died Monday morning at St. Mary's Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Amsterdam on August 31, 1937, she was a daughter of Alexander and Harriet Caladapietro Racher.
Mrs. McNeill was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch Senior High School, Amsterdam, and was employed by the New York Telephone Company until her retirement. Most recently, she worked as a part-time associate at Walmart, Amsterdam.
Her husband, Robert S. McNeill to whom she was married on June 15, 1958, died February 12, 1995.
Mrs. McNeill is survived by one son, Robert H. McNeill of Amsterdam; five daughters, Kelly J. McNamara, Tracy A. McNeill and Lisa M. Zanella, all of Amsterdam; Mary Agnes Lanzi of Mayfield, N.Y., and Mary Margaret McNeill of Wappingers Falls, N.Y.; her mother, Harriet Racher of Amsterdam; one brother, David Racher of Modesto, CA; one sister, Judith Decker of Amsterdam; four grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. McNeill was also predeceased by a son, Richard S. McNeill in 1980.
The funeral will be Thursday morning at 8:30 o'clock at the Riley Mortuary , Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, followed at 9:15 o'clock by a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 39 St. John Street, Amsterdam.
Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fort Johnson.
Calling hours are Wednesday evening from 5 to 8 at the mortuary.
Memorial contributions in Mrs. McNeill's name may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 39 St. John St., or Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 40 Guy Park Ave., both in Amsterdam, N.Y. 12010.

Theodore Pisarczyk
March 18, 2001
Theodore Pisarczyk, 83, of West Grand St., Palatine Bridge, formerly of Amsterdam, died Sunday morning at home after a long illness.
Born in Amsterdam November 22, 1917, a son of Joseph and Anne Wojcik Pisarczyk, he lived in Amsterdam most of his life. He served his country in the U.S. Army Signal Corps for 4 1/2 years achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant.
He spent 25 years working in the Amsterdam Police Department and was a Police Sergeant. He was the owner and operator of the Amsterdam School of Driving from 1962 to 1994.
He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Church in Amsterdam. He moved to Palatine Bridge to live with his daughter and son-in-law. He was an avid fisherman.
He married Isabel Wojcik. She passed away in 1996 after 50 years of marriage.
He is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Lannen of Palatine Bridge and Sandra Catalano of East Greenbush and one son, Tim Pisarczyk of Hagaman. Four grandchildren, Rob and Andrew Catalano and Tim and Sarah Pisarczyk also survive.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 9 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. Mr. Pisarczyk willed his remans to Albany Medical College for scientific research.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Canajoharie Library and Art Gallery, 2 Erie Blvd., Canajoharie, N.Y., 13317.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam.

William J. Delongchamp

William J. Delongchamp, 54, of Arnold Avenue, Amsterdam, died this morning at St. Mary's Hospital after being stricken at his home.

Mrs. Margaret P. Gehring
April 7, 2001
Mrs. Margaret P. Gehring, 84, formerly of Lydius St., died Saturday, April 7, 2001 at St. Johnsville Nursing Home after a long illness. She was born March 20, 1917 in Fort Plain the daughter of Joseph and Assunta Rufaloni Stefanacci. Mrs. Gehring was educated in Fort Plain Schools. Mrs. Gehring helped her husband on their dairy farm located on Fall Hill in Little Falls. She was also formerly employed at Beech Nut in the Strain Food Dept., retiring in 1980. As a teenager she worked in the former Old Bailey Mill in Fort Plain. She has resided in the St. Johnsville area since 1997. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fort Plain, where she belonged to the Dorcas of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, and was a member of Fort Plain/Nelliston Seniors and also the St. Johnsville Seniors.
She was predeceased by two husbands, Edward Hunt Sr. and John "Jack" Gehring who passed away January 8, 1969. She was also predeceased by a half brother David Tronbetta in 1978.
Survivors include: a son; Edward Hunt, Jr. and his wife Dauree of Richfield Springs, NY, one step-daughter; Jacqueline Gehring of Little Falls, NY, three sisters; Virginia P. Vosburgh and her husband Earl of Canajoharie, NY, Esther A. Gehring and Alma M. Ouderkirk both of Nelliston, NY, one brother; Silvino Stefanacci and his wife Ruth of Ashboro, NC; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Wednesday, April 11, at Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339 with the Rev. Kenneth Dingman officiating. Interment will take place in the Fort Plain Cemetery at a later date. Calling hours are 12:00- 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Lydius Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339 or a charity of one's choice.

Mr. Raymond A. Klatt
April 6, 2001
Mr. Raymond A. Klatt, 95, former resident of Pleasant Avenue, Amsterdam, NY, resident of Silver Maple Drive, Chelsea, MI, died on April 6, 2001, at the Arbor Hospice, Ann Arbor, MI, from complications of Alzheimer's disease.
Mr. Klatt was born on Christmas Day, 1905, in Amsterdam, NY, to Charles H. and Helena Altenburg Klatt. He lived in Amsterdam until June 6, 1998, when he moved to Michigan to be with his family. Mr. Klatt attended Amsterdam Schools and was a graduate of the Amsterdam School of Commerce.
Mr. Klatt served as a bookkeeper for Socony-Vacuum Oil and Ekblom Chevrolet in Amsterdam. He spent 27 years as an accountant for General Electric Company in Schenectady, retiring in 1970.
He was a faithful member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Amsterdam where he served at one time on the Church Council and the Property Committee.
Mr. Klatt was married on June 1, 1929, to the former Marion A. Slyke, who died in March 2, 1998.
He is survived by his son, Raymond Klatt Jr., and his wife, Marie, both of Ann Arbor, MI; by his granddaughters, Linda M. Klatt of Chelsea, MI, and Deanna Vollano, of Saline, MI; and by two great granddaughters, Heather and Christina Vollano of Saline, MI; and several cousins also survive.
Mr. Klatt was a former softball player for the City League and the Minute Man Softball Team for the City Recreational League. He also bowled for the Mechanics League and the Recreational League in Amsterdam. He was a member of the New York Upstate Postcard Club.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at 3:00 pm at the Hosmer-Muchling Funeral Chapel on Broad Street in Dexter, Michigan, with the Rev. Mark Porinsky, Pastor of the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dexter, MI, officiating. Interment will take place at a later date at the Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 40 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY.
Local arrangements have been entrusted to the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, Inc., 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY.

Deward W. Warren
March 31, 2001
Deward W. Warren of Apalachin passed away Saturday, March 31, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital after a brief illness. He was 71. Born in York, Alabama, he moved to Amsterdam as a child with his parents, Deward and Johnnie Neal Warren. He was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School and Union College, Schenectady. Mr. Warren was employed as an engineer for IBM in Owego and the Houston Control Center. Deward was an accomplished golfer. He served aboard the US Amberjack during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife Stella (Jo), his daughter and son-in-law; Wendy and William Harris of Jacksonville, Fla; two sons; Wesley Warren and David Warren for of Apalachin; two grandchildren; Katelyn and Wesley Alex; his sister and brother-in-law; Frances and Clark Devendorf of Amsterdam; his brother; Flint Warren of Margate, Fla; a sister-in-law; Marlyn Warren of Lutz, Fla; nieces, nephews and cousins. His brother Edward predeceased him.
Services were private. Contributions may be made to the Hospice Program at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, 169 Riverside Dr., Binghamton, NY 13905. Local arrangements are by the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc.

Mary S. Cushing

Mary S. Cushing, 79, of Phillips St., died Monday evening at the Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility.
Born in Amsterdam on December 5, 1921, she was the daughter of Harry and Mary F. Folliard Shelly.
Mrs. Cushing received her education at St. Mary's Institute, Amsterdam, and was employed by the Department of Taxation and Finance of New York State.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Amsterdam.
Mrs. Cushing is survived by four sons, John J. Cushing of Birmingham, AL., Joseph M. Cushing of North Andover, MA., Thomas S. Cushing of Scotia, NY., and Kevin C. Cushing of Amsterdam, NY: ten grandchildren, Colleen Altieri and Rebecca Fabozzi both of Johnstown, NY; Scott Cushing, Eric Cushing and Craig Cushing all of Scotia, NY; Megan Cushing, Marcy Cushing, Justin Cushing, Patrick Cushing and Hannah Cushing all of Amsterdam, NY; two great-grandchildren, Dominick Altieri and Marino Fabozzi both of Johnstown, NY., one niece and cousins.
Mrs. Cushing was predeceased by four brothers, Harry P. Shelly, Thomas B. Shelly, James B. Shelly, and William F. Shelly, and one sister, Katherine M. Marks.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 o'clock at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY. A Memorial Mass for Mrs. Cushing will be celebrated at a later date. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.
Calling hours are Wednesday from 5 to 8 at the mortuary.
Memorial contributions in Mrs. Cushing's name may be made to St. Mary's Institute, Upper Church St., Amsterdam, NY 12010.

Dorothy M. Cirillo
April 9, 2001
Mrs. Dorothy M. Crowter Cirillo, age 92, died Monday at Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home, Gloversville, where she had resided the past one and one half years.
She was born July 29, 1908 in Fonda, the daughter of John and Ida Sutliff Crowter. A lifelong Gloversville resident, she was a glove worker at Joseph Bovee Glove Co; Acme Glove Co; Principe Glove Co; and retired from Perrella Glove Company. She was also a Union Shop Steward.
Mrs. Cirillo was a member of the former First Baptist Church, Eagles Auxiliary, and Ida McGinness Senior Citizens Club, all of Gloversville.
She was married to Peter Cirillo on August 18, 1943 who died February 16, 1990. She is survived by her children, Patricia J. Bender and Peter Cirillo Jr.; both of Johnstown; her stepchildren, Joseph Cirillo, Frank Cirillo and Connie Simonds, all of Gloversville, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sons, Stewart Hillman Jr., and Leon Hillman, also by nine brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Inc., 51 Freemont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Dr. Robert Farmer, Pastor of the Fremont Street United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will take place at a later date at Prospect Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Eagles Aerie Youth Fund, Gloversville, or to the charity of your choice.

Jeronimo Pimentel Orellano
March 11, 2001
Jeronimo Pimentel Orellano, 86, of Susan Lane, Johnstown, N.Y., died Wednesday morning at St. Mary's Hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Pimentel Orellano was born July 20, 1914 in Rio Grande Sienega Baja, Puerto Rico. He was a son of Pasqual and Barbara Pimentel Orellano. He was a resident of Puerto Rico for most of his life and ran his own business as a carpenter in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico.
He moved to Johnstown seven moths ago to live with his daughter, Sara.
He married Luz Maria Pimentel who passed away in 1998.
Jeronimo was predeceased by a daughter, Ruth Santiago.
Survivors include two sons, Cristobal Pimentel of Puerto Rico and Geronimo Pimentel of Bronx, N.Y.; two stepsons, Jose Lopez of Brooklyn, and Luis Cruz of Caguas, Puerto Rico; five daughters, Sara Brooks of Johnstown, Elizabeth Estrada of Amsterdam, Carmen Fuentes of Amsterdam, Librada Brown of Albany and Noemi Pimentel of Amsterdam; two sisters, Elsa Orellano of Country Club, Puerto Rico and Patria Orellano of Carolina, Puerto Rico. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held this afternoon (Thursday) at 2 p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends this afternoon (Thursday) from 12:00 noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jane A. (Smith) Klimes
April 10, 2001
Jane A. (Smith) Klimes, 72, formerly of 20 William St., St. Johnsville, and more recently of 96 Church St., Little Falls, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2001 in Little Falls Hospital.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family and pay their respects at the Enea Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street, Little Falls, Thursday, April 12, 2001 from 2 to 4 p.m.
Jane's funeral service will follow visitation beginning at 4 p.m. from the Enea Funeral Home, Little Falls, Thursday April 12, 2001, where prayers will be offered by Sister Marilyn Hayes of the Holy Family Parish Church. Interment will take place in Finch Cemetery, Town of Oppenheim, later this spring.

Charles G. Kinum
April 15, 2001
Mr. Charles G. Kinum, 88, of Lodge Street, Amsterdam, died Sunday morning at home after being stricken.
He was born August 6, 1912 in West Glenville, New York, a son of Charles and Mary Godey Kinum. He was educated there and always lived in the area. Mr. Kinum was a mechanic for the City of Amsterdam for many years before retiring.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was married to Gertrude Wietecha Kinum. She died July 7, 1988.
He is survived by one daughter, Beverly Irving, Port St. John, Florida; one grandson, Mark P. Irving, Cranville, Ohio; one granddaughter, Colleen Jackson, Scotia, New York; and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 10:00 o'clock Thursday morning at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church Street, Amsterdam, with the Rev. Derek de Jager officiating. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 Wednesday evening. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a children's organization of choice such as St. Jude's Children's Hospital, the Ronald McDonald House or Make-A-Wish Foundation.
