William Revell October 22, 1996 William J. Revell, 75, of Glenridge Road, Glenville, died Tuesday at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady after a long illness. Born in Niskayuna, Mr. Revell was raised in Schenectady and Plattsburgh. During World War II, he served with the Army in Central Europe and participated in the Normandy invasion as well as in battles in northern France, the Rhineland and Ardennes. After the war, Mr. Revell worked for the Navy Depot in Scotia for 10 years. He then worked for 30 years as a heavy equipment operator for Weber Construction Co. He was a member and past president of the Schenectady Liederkranz and Operating Engineers Local 106. He married Margaret Austro Revell on June 7, 1956. In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Ginny Milgo of Pattersonville and a grandson. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road. Burial will be in Memory's Garden in Colonie. Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to charity. Charles Van Leuven October 21, 1996 Charles L. VanLeuven, 72, formerly of Clyde Avenue, Rotterdam, died Monday at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Buffalo after a long illness. Mr. Van Leuven was born in Amsterdam and attended St. Mary's Institute. He graduated from St. Joseph's School of Amsterdam. He served with the Army in Europe during World War II. Mr. Van Leuven was a plumber at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory for 20 years. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Schenectady. Survivors include three daughters, Gayle Carhide and Karen Parente, both of Schenectady, and Cheryl Brucker of Esperance; a sister, Loretta Van Leuven of of Highland Falls; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 911 Fairview Ave., Schenectady. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Haven. Arrangements are by the Daly Funeral Home in Schenectady. Zelma Westfall October 21, 1996 Mrs. Zelma Barthlomew Westfall, 90, formerly of Oak Hill, Route 7, Central Bridge, died Monday at the Eden Park Nursing Home, Cobleskill, where she resided since 1994. Born in Middleburgh, Mrs. Westfall was a 1924 graduate of Middleburgh High School and attended the state School of Agriculture at Cobleskill. Many years ago, she taught in area schools in Schoharie County as a substitute teacher. She also worked at Berical's Restaurant in Duanesburg. Mrs. Westfall was a member of the Rising Star Chapter Order of the Eastern Star in Schoharie and the Schoharie Valley Grange. She was a member of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church. Her husband, Willard J. Vroman, whom she married July 30, 1927, died in 1946; her second husband, Clifford A. Westfall, whom she married in 1952, died in 1985. Survivors include a son, Willard J. Vroman of Esperance; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at the Langan Funeral Home, 21 N. Main St., Central Bridge. Burial will be in Old Stone Fort Cemetery, Schoharie. A calling hour will be held prior to the service at the funeral home. Robert Flint October 23, 1996 Robert J. Flint, 65, of McElwain Avenue, Amsterdam, died Wednesday morning at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital shortly after being admitted. Born Sept. 21, 1932 in Amsterdam, he was the son of Harry and Mildred Schofield Flint. He was a lifelong city resident. Mr. Flint was educated at the former St. Joseph's School and graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch Senior High School. He also attended the New York Trade School in New York City. He was employed by the former Treher & Jung Plumbing and Supply Co. and was presently employed by the ARCO Co. as superintendent of the Theodore Roosevelt Apartments. A veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Flint served with the U.S. Air Force in Okinawa. He was a member of the American Legion Post 701, the Amsterdam High School Basketball Booster Club, and for many years, he was a coach with the Amsterdam Wee-Men Minor and Major Baseball leagues. Mr. Flint was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. He married the former Mary Case on Oct. 6, 1956. In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Thomas and Matthew Flint, both of Amsterdam; five daughters, Linda Lipper of North Plainfield, N.J., Kathleen Reilly of Latham, Sharon Murray of Middletown, Conn., Maria Kowalczyk and Nancy Pabis, both of Amsterdam; his mother, Mildred Flint of Amsterdam; one brother, Harry Flint of Fort Ann; 10 grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Riley Mortuary Inc., 110 Division St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 at St. Mary's Church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church or to the Amsterdam Wee-Men Baseball Association in care of the Riley Mortuary Inc. John Banker October 23, 1996 John Place Banker, 83, of Prospect Avenue, Gloversville, died Wednesday at Nathan Littauer Hospital after a long illness. Born in Gloversville, Mr. Banker was a lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of Lawrenceville Preparatory School and attended Yale University. During World War II, Mr. Banker served with the U.S. Army in Europe and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was proprietor of the former Ager & Banker Fuel Co. Mr. Banker was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gloversville. He was also a member of the Pine Brook Golf Club and a board member of the YMCA and of the Prospect Hill Cemetery Association. He married Sally Clough Banker on April 20, 1957. In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Jay C. Banker of Albany; two daughters, Mrs. Martha Kemp of St. Paul, Minn., and Mrs. Nancy Ferguson of Marlboro,Mass.; and three grandchildren. Private graveside services will be conducted in Prospect Hill Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gloversville YMCA or the Nathan Littauer Hospital Auxiliary . Arrangements are by the John W. Finocan Funeral Home. Margaret Martin October 21, 1996 Mrs. Margaret Steven Martin, 91, of the Albany County Nursing Home, formerly of Amsterdam, died Monday at the home after a brief illness. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Mrs. Martin came to this country in 1930. She lived most of her married life in Amsterdam. Mrs. Martin was a member of the former Second Presbyterian Church. Her husband, John M. Martin, died in 1993. Survivors include a son, Jack Martin of Saratoga Springs. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Wesley Health Center in Saratoga Springs. Burial will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Baxter Funeral Home, Schenectady. Harriet Kenyon October 22, 1996 Mrs. Harriet Ercanbrack Kenyon, 76, formerly of Gloversville, died Tuesday at the Edward L. Wilkinson Health Care Facility after a short illness. Born in Glen, Mrs. Kenyon was educated locally. She was a nurse's aide in area nursing homes for many years. Mrs. Kenyon was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Gloversville. She also was a member of the Mohawk Council, Degree of Pocahontas. Her husband, Frank H. Kenyon, whom she married May 13, 1939, died in 1967. Survivors include three daughters, Dawn Walker of Boonville, Harriet "Flossie" Lee of Johnstown and Naomi Carey of Gloversville; five sons, Frank Kenyon of Gaston, S.C., Robert Kenyon of Ely, Nev., Larry Kenyon of St. Johnsville, Ward Kenyon of Alamogordo, N.M., and Peter Young of Gloversville; 21 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, 215 E. Main St., Johnstown. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. The Mohawk Council will conduct a service at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Edward L. Wilkinson Health Care Facility. Edmond Richard October 22, 1996 Edmond H. Richard, 93, of West Street, Fort Plain, died Tuesday at home after a long illness. Born in Coventry, Vt., on May 30, 1903, he was the son of Emanuel Richard and Margaret Hall. He was a graduate of Norwich University in Northfield, Vt. in 1924, with a bachelor of science degree. He relocated to Albany and was employed by the Socony Oil Co. and later for Firestone Tire & Rubber Co.. Later he was employed by Mac Hardware Co. in Fort Plain and then purchased the Erie Garage in Fort Plain. From 1928 to 1962, he owned and operated Richard Motor Sales in Fort Plain. Mr. Richard was a retired Cavalry officer. He was a member of the Newport Country Club, The Memphremagog Yacht Club of Newport, Vt., a lifelong member of the Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake, a life member of the Fort Plain Beagle Club, director of the state Forest Preserve Users, a charter member of the Fort Plain Community Club, a member of the Fort Plain Masonic Lodge No. 433 from 1925 until his death, was president of the Adirondack Moose River Committee, past first president of the Hudson-Mohawk Conservation Council. He was also a licensed guide for the entire Adirondack Park . He was a senior member of the Boy Scout Council of Fulton and Montgomery Counties working out of the Woodworth Lake Scout Reservation. His first wife, Hazel Marsh, whom he married Feb. 19, 1930, died in 1966. His second wife, Bernice Wheeler, whom he married in 1970, died in 1973. Survivors include a daughter, Caroline G. Bay of Fort Plain; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, one niece and four nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center St., Fort Plain, with the Rev. Jeff Thibodeau officiating. Burial will be in Fort Plain Cemetery. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. The Fort Plain Masonic Lodge will meet at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. today for services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fort Plain Reformed Church, 165 Canal St., the Salvation Army, or to a charity of one's choice. Sophie Piccolo October 24, 1996 Sophie Piccolo, 93, formerly of West Main Street, Amsterdam, died Thursday at the Montgomery Meadows Nursing Home after a long illness. Born April 1, 1903 in Pisciotta, Italy, she moved to Amsterdam at an early age. She attended local schools and was a lifelong city resident. Mrs. Piccolo was employed at one time as a glovemaker with Fownes Bros., retiring many years ago. She was a member of St. Michael The Archangel Roman Catholic Church and a member of the St. Sophia Society of the church. She was married to Frank Piccolo, who died in 1958. Survivors include a niece, Mary Palombi of Saratoga, and a nephew, Thomas Palombo of Albany. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the De Stefano Funeral Home, Route 5S, Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 at St. Michael's Church. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to charity.
