Y. Eunice Teschka, 74, of Maple Ave. Ft. Hunter, N.Y. passed away Tuesday afternoon at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Amsterdam on April 1, 1928 she was a daughter of Francis and Yetive Millington Playford. She was a lifelong area resident living in Fort Hunter, NY for 50 years. She attended Amsterdam Schools.
Mrs Teschka was employed as a Supervisor for many years at the former Grant's Department Store and K-Mart in Amsterdam where she retired after 15 years. She was of the Protestant Faith.
She married Richard Carl Teschka, Sr. on May 1, 1947.
In addition to her husband survivor include: One Son- Richard Carl Teschka, Jr. and wife Lois of Duanesburg, NY; two daughters, Sandra Dumas and her husband Cliff of Northville, NY, Dawn Sartin and her companion Ernest Blanchard of Johnstown, NY; one brother, Francis Playford of California; eight grandchildren, Stacey Warner, Joseph Hodlin, Brian, Laura and Amanda Teschka, Jake and Tina Sartin and Brandon Blanchard; five great grandchildren, Ashley and Haleigh Warner, Stephanie and Jamie Sartin and Timothy Saver; nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Mrs. Teschka was predeceased by a brother Eugene Playford.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam with Mark King and Curtis Brown presiding. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society c/o Montgomery County, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211.
James J. Madelone Sr.
April 1, 2002
James J. Madelone Sr., 85, of Westside Avenue, Rotterdam, died Monday at St. Clare;s Hospital after a short illness.
Born in Schenectady, Mr. Madelone attended Schenectady schools and worked for General Electric Co. in Schenectady for 39 years as a chipper in building 273, retiring in 1980.
He was a member of the G.E. Quarter Century Club and the Rotterdam Senior Citizens.
He also served in the 105th National Guards, 27th Division, for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Margaret SanFilippo Madelone, whom he married June 29, 1941; one son, James John Madelone and his wife Judith Robilotto Madelone of Ballston Lake; one brother, Cicero Madelone of Rotterdam; two sisters, Mary Oly of Florida and Carmella Zadrozny of Burnt Hills; two nephews, Salvatore and Thomas Madelone both of Rotterdam. He is also survived by five granddaughters and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Madelone was predeceased by three brothers, Angelo, Joseph and Patrick Madelone.
A Mass of Christian Burial, to which relatives, friends and neighbors are invited to attend, will be celebrated 9:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul the Apostle Church, Albany Street and Kings Road.
It is requested there be no calling hours. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Those who wish to send a remembrance in James' memory to the Salvation Army-Schenectady County, P.O. Box 918, Schenectady, NY 12301.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam.
Isabelle Draus
April 3, 2002
Mrs. Isabelle Draus, 79, of the Roosevelt Apartments died Wednesday morning at her son's home.
Born on June 5, 1922 in Amsterdam she was the daughter of Frank and Frances Wolak Ratka.
She attended Amsterdam schools and was a lifelong area resident.
Mrs. Draus had worked for Mohasco as a supervisor of the Shipping and Receiving Department until retiring. she was a member of the Church of St. John the Baptist and its Ladies Rosary Society. She was also a St. John's Pierogi Lady and was a member of the Home Bureau of Broadalbin. She enjoyed giving many of her handcrafted items to others.
Mrs. Draus was married to Raymond A. Draus. He died on October 28, 1967.
She is survived by her son, Raymond Draus and his wife, Joan M. of Amsterdam; one brother, Frank Ratka of Dunwoody, Georgia; two sisters, Marion Wojeski of Amsterdam and Laura Urba of Altamont, NY; two granddaughters, Stephanie Draus and Kristen Draus both of Amsterdam; nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Mrs. Druas was predeceased by one sister, Blanche DeNise.
Funeral services will be held 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the Amsterdam Funeral Chapel, 13 Belmont Place, followed at 9:30 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of St. John the Baptist. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Draus's memory to the Church of St. John the Baptist or to Community Hospice of Amsterdam both in care of the Amsterdam Funeral Chapel.
Roberta A. Jones
April 2, 2002
Roberta A. Jones, 63, of Florida Avenue died on Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at her residence after a brief illness.
For many years she owned and operated R-Country Kitchen in Vail Mills.
Born November 2, 1938 in Glens Falls, daughter of the late Jacob and Doris Tracy Henderer.
Survivors include her husband, Lewis Jones; two daughters, Martina Merced of Palenville and Doris Vogt of Ballston Lake; five sons, Robert Trimble of Troy, Kevin Trimble of Saugerties, Mike Cardarella of Coxsackie, Joseph Cardarella of Johnstown and Paul Cardarella of Amsterdam; two stepsons, Jamie Soltys of Springfield Center and Patrick McCarthy of St. Johnsville; a brother, Robert Henderer; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be 6:30 p.m. tonight at Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc., corner of John and Lafayette St., Saugerties. Interment will be 11:30a.m. Friday at Griswold Cemetery, Glens Falls.
Bernice E. Enright
April 3, 2002
Mrs. Bernice E. Enright, 72, of West Ames Road, Canajoharie died early Wednesday morning at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam.
She was born on March 10, 1930 the daughter of George and Lottie Swisler Empie. She was a lifelong area resident and attended Canajoharie schools.
Mrs. Enright was employed by Lifesavers as a secretary for over 40 years until her retirement. She then reentered the work force as a purchasing agent for Ellis Hospital in Schenectady for approximately 10 years until her final retirement due to illness.
She was a life member of the Moose Lodge, and bowled in various area leagues. She was also a former member of the Ames Volunteer Fire Department and the Silver Spur Riding Club.
Mrs. Enright was a member of the Ames Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, C. Thomas Enright whom she married on December 31, 1949; a son, George Enright of Canajoharie; a daughter, Laurie Davis of Ocala, FL; four grandchildren; a great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie. The burial will take place in the Ames Cemetery later in the spring.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter Inc., 133 Hilltop Road, Sprakers, NY 12166 or the Ames Volunteer Fire Department, 595 Latimer Hill Road, Canajoharie, NY 13317.
John Dzierga
April 4, 2002
Mr. John Dzierga, 88, of County Highway 132, Hagaman, died Thursday at St. Mary's Hospital.
Born on September 23, 1913 in Amsterdam he was the son of Joseph and Mary Pikor Dzierga.
He attended local schools and was a life long area resident.
Mr. Dzierga was a self employed dairy farmer. He was a member of St. Stephen's Church in Hagaman. He was also a life member of the Perth Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member since 1954. He held various offices including Sergeant at Arms, Lieutenant and attained the rank of Assistant Chief.
Mr. Dzierga enjoyed raising white faced beef cows and making maple syrup as hobbies.
He is survived by one sister, Elaine Kapusta and her husband Kasimer of Niskayuna; one sister-in-law, Jeanena "Jennie" Dzierga of Galway; two nephews, Mark Dzierga of Guilderland and David Kapusta of West Glenville; one niece, Joyce Kapusta of Niskayuna, and cousins.
Mr. Dzierga was predeceased by two brothers, Robert Dzierga and Matthew Dzierga.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Amsterdam Funeral Chapel, 13 Belmont Place followed at 11:15 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Stephen's Church in Hagaman. Spring burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Sunday afternoon from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the evening at the funeral chapel.
Memorial donations may be made in Mr. Dzierga's memory to the Perth Volunteer Fire Department or to St. Stephen's Church both in care of the funeral chapel.
Emanuella "Midge" Chapleau

Mrs. Emanuella "Midge" Chapleau, 78, of Gloversville, died Wednesday at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam after being stricken. She was born in Gloversville, November 23, 1923, daughter of the late Vincent and Mary Caputo De Santis. She was educated in Gloversville Schools, graduating form Gloversville High School.
Mrs. Chapleau was a glove maker all her life, working at home much of her career. She was also employed by the former Myers Glove Co. and Alexette Glove Co. She retired from Gates Mills, several years ago.
Mrs. Chapleau was a member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church.
Survivors include her husband, Alfred "Bud" Chapleau, whom she married June 14, 1952; a daughter, Mary Hamm and her husband Allan of Johnstown; a son, Alfred "Chap" Chapleau of Schenectady; one sister, Julia DiMezza of Gloversville; one brother, Ralph De Santis of Boca Raton, Florida; two granddaughters, Alyssa Stewart of Johnstown and Nicola Chapleau of Niskayuna; one grandson, Michael Stewart of Johnstown; three step grandchildren, Melanie, Bradley and Christopher Hamm, all of Johnstown; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one sister, Evelyn De Santis, and two brothers, Jerry and Pasquale De Santis.
A prayer service will be held Saturday at 10:15 a.m. from Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 147 Bleecker Street, Gloversville, and at 11:00 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church with Reverend Donald Czelusniak, Pastor, as celebrant.
The family will receive friends Friday from 4-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Aureliano DeRossi
March 4, 2002
Aureliano DeRossi, 90, of McKay Road, formerly of Division Street, passed away early Thursday morning at St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness.
Born on November 19, 1911 he was the son of Clodomiro and Luigina Lorelli DeRossi, he was educated locally and lived in Amsterdam for his entire life.
Mr. DeRossi was employed as a crane and elevator repairman for General Electric in Schenectady for thirty one years, retiring in 1973.
He was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.
His beloved wife, the former Lucille Romano, preceded him in death on March 15, 1974.
Mr. DeRossi leaves his loving children, Raymond and his wife Phyllis Catello DeRossi of Amsterdam, with whom he resided; and Diana and her husband Robert Seeley of Broadalbin; his sisters, Rose DaBiere of Amsterdam and Jean Eliseo of Schenectady; also his stepsisters, Rose, Josephine and Amelia Bombardatore, and Assunta "Susie" Gambardella all of Amsterdam, Carmella Kazlauskas of Schenectady; five grandchildren, Dawn Jones, Tammy Rigo, Jason Seeley, Kristen Culnan and Anthony DeRossi; six great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins survive.
He was predeceased by brothers Rolando and Edmund DeRossi and a sister, Louise Machold.
Funeral services are Monday at 8:15 a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, Inc., 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Church. Father Pascal A. Iannotti, celebrant.
Interment is in St. Michael's Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to St. Michael's Memorial Fund or to St. Mary's Hospital Foundation.
Tyler Jacob Blair
April 3, 2002
Tyler Jacob Blair, infant son of Carissa Blair and Samuel Gaston died at birth Wednesday at Albany Medical Center.
Besides the parents survivors include, a brother, Evan Blair; maternal grandparents, Benjamin and Deborah Blair of Amsterdam; and great grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. The burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson.
Memorial contributions may be made in Tyler Jacob's memory to the March of Dimes in care of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, Inc., 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
George Frederick Machold

George Frederick Machold 65, of Lepper Rd. Ft. Johnson died Sunday evening at Ellis Hospital.
Born at St. Mary's Hospital on May 22, 1936 a son to Paul Bernard and Evelyn Francis (Douglas) Machold. He was a lifelong area resident and was educated at local schools. Mr. Machold worked at the General Electric Co. as welder and on the assembly line for 31 years retiring in 1997. Mr. Machold was a veteran of the US Army. He was a life time member of the Bigelow Weavers Association, John J. Wyszomirski American Legion Post 701 and the Amsterdam Municipal Golf Course. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Huptich) Machold, whom he married on August 22, 1957; his two sons, John (Jack) Machold of Schenectady and Frederick C. Machold of Amsterdam; his daughter Gloria Wessell of Amsterdam; two brothers, Walter Machold of Punta Gorda, Florida and Robert Machold of Amsterdam; two grandchildren, Jennifer Stearns and Michael Machold; two step-grandchildren, Courtney and Anthony Wessell and several nieces and nephews.
Services are Thursday at 8:15 at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 at St. Mary's Church, E. Main St. Internment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday evening from 5 to 8 at the funeral home. Post 701 will be conducting an evening service at 7:00 pm Wednesday.
Mildred McVeigh

Mildred McVeigh, 92, formerly of Fairfax Place, Utica, passed away Saturday at Presbyterian Nursing Home, where she had been a resident for seven years.
She was born on Nov. 26, 1909 in Lowell, Mass., the daughter of Joseph and Claudine (Dame) Ambrose. Mildred was a graduate of St. Mary's Institute, Amsterdam, and the Reynolds Business School. On Sept. 20, 1933, she married William McVeigh in St. Mary's Church, Amsterdam. He passed away in 1992. She was employed as an executive secretary with Mohasco Industries for 25 years. Mildred moved to Utica in 1974. She was a member of the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes.
Mildred was a loving mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor.
Surviving are one daughter, Alice E. Farrell of Utica; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Catherine McVeigh of Naples, Fla. and Cape Cod, Mass.; one sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Louis Eckelman, Amsterdam; grandchildren, Kathy Schenck and her husband, David of Virginia, Mark Farrell and his wife, Bert of Rochester, Nancy Sullivan and her husband, Michael, of Pennsylvania, Christopher Farrel and his wife Lori of East Syracuse, Kristin Taylor and her husband, Buck, of Montana, Melissa Kunkel and her husband, James, of Arizona; granddaughter-in-law, Stacey Farrell of Deerfield and 13 great-grandchildren. She also leaves a brother-in-law, Robert McVeigh of New Hartford; sisters-in-law, Oonagh McVeigh of Scotland, Mary Gillanders of England and Ruth Ambrose of Pennsylvania; and many nieces and nephews.
Mildred was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and George Ambrose; two sisters-in-law, Margaret McVeigh and Ruth Ambrose; and a son-in-law, James Farrell.
Funeral services were from the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, where a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson. There were no public visitation. The family greeted friends after the Funeral Mass at the church.
The family would like to thank Dr. John Houck for his attentive care for many years. Many thanks also to the staff of the Presbyterian Nursing Home, especially Sue Clarke and the Willow Wing staff, Sue Peck and Fran Constabile. The family will never forget all you did for Mom.
Remembrances in Mildred's name may be made to the Bereavement Committee at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Mass.
Virginia "Ginny" Katherine Lane Dymes

Virginia "Ginny" Katherine Lane Dymes, 63, of State Route 7, died Sunday, April 7, at her home after a long illness. She was born May 4, 1938 in Cortland, NY and was the daughter of Elmer M. and Norma (Freer) Lane. Mrs. Dymes graduated from Vincentian Institute in 1956 and attended and graduated from Adirondack Community College as a Registered Nurse in 1967. She was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cobleskill, NY. Mrs. Dymes worked as an Emergency Room Nurse at the former Community Hospital of Cobleskill, retiring in 1994. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Augustus "Gus" W. Dymes, whom she married on September 6, 1958; three daughters and spouses, Kim and Dennis Heatherly of Gig Harboro, WA, Patrice and Joe Scalia of West Springfield, MA, Tracee and Floyd Douglas of Broadalbin, NY; 2 sons and spouses, Mike and Robin Dymes of Roxbord, NC, and Dan and Sharine Dymes of Cobleskill, as well as 12 grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 11, 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Washington Heights, Cobleskill, with the Rev. Thomas F. Berardi as celebrant. Calling hours will be Wednesday, April 10 from 6 to 9 P.M. at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care, 209 MacArthur Ave., Cobleskill, NY 12043.
