Edward A. Bush
October 2, 2002
Edward A. Bush 80, of Sloane Avenue, passed away Wednesday evening at his home with his family at his side.
Born in Amsterdam on June 1, 1922, a son of Stephen and Magdalene Budziak Bush, he was educated locally.
During World War II he served with the US Marine Corps in the Pacific with the rank of corporal.
He was employed as a supervisor at the Knolls Atomic Power Lab in Niskayuna until be retired in 1984.
Edward was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion Posts, both in Florida. An active member of the Good Shepherd Polish National Catholic Church, he served on the committee for many years and was the church treasurer, an usher and choir member.
He loved to work with his hands and was proud of his home which he built himself in 1950.
His loving family includes his wife of nearly fifty eight years, Adeline Mylowski Bush. They were married on November 18, 1944. His daughter, Linda Scadron-Wattles and her husband Stuart of Kitchner, Ontario; his granddaughters, Jessica Wray and Alyson Scadron-Wattles; his brother, William Bush of Amsterdam; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Edward was predeceased by his siblings, Michael and Raymond Bush, Lottie Farhart and Pauline Gutowski.
Calling hours are Sunday from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Avenue, where Father Jaroslaw Nowak will conduct a vigil service at 5:00 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday, October 9, 2002 at 10:00 p.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd by Father Nowak.
Interment will take place in Good Shepherd Cemetery.
It is the request of the family that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Good Shepherd Church, 27 Teller Street or the Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 40 Guy Park Avenue.

Raymond "Remo" Stella
November 1, 2002
Raymond "Remo" A. Stella, 81, son of the late Nicola and Mary Giasanti Stella Stripe, of Cullen Avenue, Schenectady, died Friday evening at his some after a long illness.
Ray was born and educated in Schenectady, and was a 1939 graduate of the former Nott Terrace High School. After high school, he began working for the General Electric Company as a winder for several years. In 1942, Remo was drafted into the Army serving in the 12th Army Division, until 1945.
After serving in the war, Ray went back to work at General Electric as a winding developer, until his retirement in December of 1980.
Remo was a volunteer fireman for the South Schenectady Fire Department for several years, and a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church. For over 25 years, Mr. Stella's greatest love was spending time with his family at their camp, on the Sacandaga Lake.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Tascillo Stella whom he married June 2, 1946. Father of Ronald Stella and his wife Lorraine of Perth. Grandfather of Richard Stella and Amanda Stella, both of Perth. Brother of Edward Stella and his wife Ann and William "Red" Stella, all of Schenectady. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services and calling hours will be held privately at the request of the family.
Interment will follow the services in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Schenectady.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12308.
Arrangements are by the N. Rossi & Sons Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Streets, Schenectady.

Philomena Vecchio Sollecito
November 1, 2002
Philomena Vecchio Sollecito, 86, formerly of Forbes Street, passed away Friday morning at the Hospice of the Ft. Hamilton Hughes Hospital in Hamilton, Ohio with her daughter at her side.
She was born in Amsterdam on September 15, 1916, the daughter of Joseph and Anella Romano Vecchio, she attended local schools and lived here all of her life until recently moving to Ohio to be near her daughters.
A glove maker, she worked for various local shops, most recently Fownes Bros.
Mrs. Sollecito was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and in her youth was a member of it's choir.
Her beloved husband, Vincent M. Sollecito, whom she married on June 8, 1941, predeceased her on August 1, 1998.
Her loving family includes her daughters, Mary Jo and her husband Arnold Barnett of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Sr. Dolores Anelle Sollecito C.S.J. of Hamilton, Ohio; her sisters, Angelina and her husband James Ciccarino and Mary A. Vecchio all of Amsterdam; her grandchildren, Richard Sydney Barnett and his wife Carrie, and Tracie Susan Barnett; her great grandchildren, Sidney Ann and Joseph Albert Barnett; sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Services are Saturday, November 9 at 8:15 a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Church. Father Lawrence J. Decker, celebrant.
Interment is in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson.
Calling hours are Friday evening from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
It is the request of the family that contributions may be made to the Retirement Fund of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, Development Office, 385 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham, NY 12110.

Veronica M. Walaitis
November 2, 2002
Mrs. Veronica M. Walaitis, 86, formerly of Fort Plain, died early Saturday morning, November 2, 2002 at Little Falls Hospital after a long illness.
She was born in Fort Plain,July 9, 1916 a daughter of Zenon and Ursula Norwich Balwochus.
Mrs. Walaitis was educated at Fort Plain Schools.
She was employed by Creedmore Hospital in Queens Village, Long Island, retiring as a senior launderer in January 1972 after 38 years of service.
She resided in the St. Johnsville Nursing Home for the past year and a half. She previously resided in Fort Plain for 25 years from 1975-2000 and in Long Island for 44 years prior to that.
She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Fort Plain.
Mrs. Walaitis was a former member of the Fort Plain-Nelliston Senior Citizens and the St. Johnsville Senior Saints.
She married George T. Walaitis on May 28, 1938 in Long Island, NY. He died on December 4, 1973.
She is survived by two sisters, Helen Hladysz of Herkimer, NY and Catherine Perillo of Bear, Delaware; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Sophie Fitzpatrick, Afemia Yanko, Rosalie Shibley and Frances Mazeika and two brothers, John Balwochus and Lewis Balwochus.
A 9:15 a.m. prayer service will be held on Wednesday, November 6, at the Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Reid Street, Fort Plain with Father Kenneth Swain officiating.
Burial will be in Fort Plain Cemetery.
The family will receive family and friends on Tuesday, November 5 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 510 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Road, Albany, NY, 12205 or the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211.

Gregory Pilecki
November 1, 2002
Mr. Gregory "George" Pilecki, 88, of Powerhouse Road, Amsterdam, died Friday evening at St. Mary's Hospital.
He was born May 4, 1914 in Amsterdam, a son of the late Konstantly and Sophie Novak Pilecki. He was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School, class of 1933 and always resided in the Town of Florida.
Mr. Pilecki owned and operated his dairy farm in the Town of Florida. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Church. He was also a member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau.
He was predeceased by his siblings Josephine Lachowski, marcella Kruger, Mary Marek and Joseph Pilecki.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Zoldak Pilecki, whom he married on May 25, 1963; a son, William M. Pilecki of Amsterdam; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral was held 8:30 Monday morning at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church St., Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Calling hours were held Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus Church, St. Mary's Hospital Foundation or to Amsterdam Memorial Hospital/Wilkinson Center.

Kelly Ann Cardarella Cadmus
November 1, 2002
Kelly Ann Cardarella Cadmus, 34, of St. Petersburg, Florida died suddenly Friday evening the victim of a tragic accident.
Kelly was born April 28, 1968 in Amsterdam and attended Perth Central School before moving to Florida.
She owned a successful beauty salon, "Kelly C's", and enjoyed her family, friends, and lived life to it's fullest, always ready with a smile.
She is survived by her husband, William Cadmus; two young sons, Cody and Bronson where they resided in St. Petersburg.
She also leaves behind her father, Peter Cardarella, and mother, Carol Herrick Cardarella, also of Florida; grandparents, Salvatore and Mary Cardarella of Amsterdam; two aunts Rita LaBate and Marylou Adamchick; one uncle, Melvin Herrick; several cousins, including, Tracey Sherlock, William Gleason, Bruce VanBuren and Kristen Levandusky; and a step mother, Susan Cardarella Skretkowicz.
She was predeceased by her aunt, Sandra Levandusky.
A service will be held Friday, November 8 from 5-8 p.m. at Anderson McQuade Funeral Home, 9th St. N 22nd Ave, N, St. Petersburg, Florida.

Barbara A. Dallesandro
November 4, 2002
Barbara A. Dallesandro, 54, of County Highway 107, passed away Monday morning at St. Mary's Hospital with her family at her side.
Born in Amsterdam on October 15, 1948, a daughter of Erwin and Frances Gustavich Pelotte, she was a 1966 graduate of Perth Central School and attended Fulton Montgomery Community College. For the past 16 years, Barbara worked as a teaching assistant for the Broadalbin-Perth Central School. A dedicated instructor whose students meant everything to her, she spent her leisure time gardening and enjoying her family-especially her grandchildren.
Barbara was an active communicant of the Roman Catholic Church of St. John the Baptist where she served as a religious education teacher and was a graduate of the Faith Formation Program. She also at one time taught in the CCD program at St. Stanislaus Church.
On April 5, 1980 she married James A. Dallesandro who survives her.
In addition to her beloved husband, her loving family includes her sons, Glenn and his wife Shelly Marek and Anthony Dallesandro all of Amsterdam; her daughter Kristen and her husband Gino Marotta of Broadalbin; her sister Loretta Welke of Amsterdam; her grandchildren, Bryanna and Victoria Marotta; Justin, Noah and Tucker Marek; two aunts, Anna Kowalczyk and Veronica Butkus, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. at the Church of St. John the Baptist, 40 VanDerveer Street. Father Stanislaus J. Swierzowski celebrant. Relatives and friends are invited to attend
It was Barbara's request that there be no calling hours.
Cremation will take place at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.
Contributions, in lieu of flowers may be made to the Church of St. John the Baptist, 40 VanDerveer Street, Amsterdam, or the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211.

Beatrice D. Vogel
November 4, 2002
Beatrice D. Vogel, 77, of Wall Street, Amsterdam passed away early Monday morning at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville.
Born in Amsterdam on March 12, 1925 a daughter of Faye E. and Marion F. Lee Doneburgh. She lived in the Amsterdam area most of life, attended elementary school in Tribes Hill and High school in Cherry Valley, NY.
Mrs. Vogel worked as a Nurse's Aide at the former Alexander's Nursing Home in Hagaman. She also worked at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital in the laundry department retiring in 1976. She moved to Coleman, Florida in 1978 and resided there until 1999. While in Florida she worked in Vern's Little Acre Traveling Flea Market. She also was a volunteer at the Wee-Care Nursing Home also in Florida.
She enjoyed writing, reading, traveling, she loved life and enjoyed people. She wrote poetry and had some of her poems published in Florida.
Mrs. Vogel was a member of the United Methodist Church in Coleman, Florida.
She married Verney D. Vogel II on September 7, 1941. He passed away on September 1, 1991.
Survivors include three sons, Vern G. Vogel II and his wife April of Perth, NY, Roger A.Vogel and his wife Jackie of Amsterdam, Larry G. Vogel and his wife Judy of Perth; three daughters, Virginia Parr and her husband Skip of Gloversville, NY, Linda Kelsch of Albany and Joanne Wancewicz and her husband Michael of Hagaman, NY; one brother, Bill Doneburgh and his wife Agnes of New Simirna Beach, Florida; one sister, Inathe Horning of Pineola, North Carolina; One son-in-law William O'Keefe and sister in-law Marianne Doneburgh. 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
She was predeceased by one daughter, Lee O'Keefe on September 20, 1999.
She was also predeceased by a brother, George Doneburgh, and two grandsons, Francis A. Kelsch Jr on January 11, 1993 and Randolf S. Vogel on February 26, 1959, and one great grandson, Riley S. Vogel.
Funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Rev. Cal Briggs-Harris presiding.
Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill, NY.
Calling hours are this evening from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Office of the Aging in Amsterdam or to the Arthritis Foundation of Northeastern New York, 1717 Central Avenue, Albany, NY 12205.
The family would like to thank at this time the Health Aides of the Montgomery County CHC for the loving care and attention given to our mother and to the Nathan Littauer Hospital Staff, Thanks.
