Lawrence Montgomery
December 30, 2002
Lawrence W. Montgomery of Broadalbin, died Monday evening at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam.
He was born in Hornell, the son of Theodore and Helen Lippencott Montgomery. He resided in Gloversville and served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. He was married Sept. 1, 1956 to the former Loretta J. Rebisz, who survives him.
Mr. Montgomery was employed in the textile industry and the NYS Division for Youth until his retirement in August 1997. He was a member of the Broadalbin Baptist Church.
Other survivors include three sons, Steven D. Montgomery of Virginia, Scott D. Montgomery in the U.S. Army and Shaun E. Montgomery of Broadalbin; a daughter, Sally A. Stevens of Williamstown, N.J.; three brothers, Roger S. Montgomery of Johnstown, Earl V. Montgomery of March and Lowell D. Montgomery of Gloversville; two sisters, Sandra J. Aesch and Beverly E. Montgomery, both of Gloversville; six granddaughters; two great-granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.
A private funeral service will be held Thursday at the convenience of the family at Jeffords and Stewart Funeral Home, Broadalbin with Pastor Doug Blanc officiating. There will be no calling hours. Interment will take place in the spring at Broadalbin-Mayfield Rural Cemetery, Broadalbin.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Broadalbin Baptist Church, 40 W. Main St., Broadalbin, 12025.

Dorothy L. Bylebyl
December 29, 2002
Dorothy L. Bylebyl, 91, of Eden Park Health Care Center, East Greenbush, formerly of State Street, Valley Falls, died Sunday. December 29, 2002 at the Health Care Center following a long illness.
Born on April 20, 1911 in Valley Falls, NY, to the late Harry and Lottie Downs Lohnes. She was a graduate of the Valley Falls Public Schools and a Valley Falls resident most of her life.
She was the wife of the late Leo G. Bylebyl who died in December of 1988.
She managed a Singer Sewing Machine shop where she also taught classes in sewing. Dorothy also worked for the Rensselaer County and retired from the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles in Troy where she was a typist for over 40 years.
She was a member of the Valley Falls United Methodist Church in Valley Falls. A member of the C.S.E.A. and very active in the Heritage Association of Pittstown, as well as a member of the NYS Rifle Association.
She is survived by one brother-in-law, Stanley and his wife Florence Bylebyl of Hagaman, NY; three sisters-in-law, Josephine Wyszomirski of Amsterdam, Laura Mazurkiewicz of Casleton and Helen Bylebyl of Coconut Creek, FL. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 3, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at the Chase Funeral Home, 173 Main Street, Schaghticoke, NY with the Reverend William Pattison, Pastor of the Valley Falls United Methodist Church officiating.
Relatives and friends may call at the Chase Funeral Home, 173 Main Street, Schaghticoke, NY one hour prior to the funeral service.
Burial in Elmwood Cemetery will be in the spring.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Valley Falls Fire Department, Valley Falls, NY 12185, The Eden Park Health Care Center, 1070 Luther Road, East Greenbush, NY 12061 or a charity of one's choice in Dorothy's memory.
Arrangements have been entrusted to The Chase Funeral Home.

Beatrice Collins
December 29, 2002
Beatrice J. Collins of Fort Plain passed away at home late Sunday evening with her loving family at her side.
Born in the Town of Florida, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Ethel (Hillman) Ouderkirk.
She was the loving wife of Morris C. Collins of Fort Plain, married June 29, 1946.
She was the founder and and proud owner of B.J. Collins Realty, an avid bowler and enjoyed playing bingo.
Mrs. Collins is survived by her four children, Linda Searles, Kim Mackenzie, Shaune Collins, Robin Stefanacci and their spouses; two brothers, Clarence and Robert Ouderkirk and their spouses; a sister, Mildred Chest; 15 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Collins was predeceased by her sisters, Caroline Eckler and Shirley Hickey and her brother, David Ouderkirk.
A private memorial service will be held in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Mid-County Ambulance Co., Erie Boulevard, Canajoharie or to Mountain Valley Hospice, 73 N. Main St., Gloversville.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.

Adeline Mazur
December 30, 2002
Mrs. Adeline Mazur, 88, of Houston, Texas, died Monday at Memorial Northwest Hospital in Houston after a long illness.
Born in Amsterdam on April 5, 1914, she was the daughter of Joseph and Anna Niemiec Bubniak. She attended Amsterdam schools. Mrs. Mazur resided in Amsterdam until 1989 when she moved to Texas.
At one time, she was employed by Mohawk Carpet Mills and later for several other local manufacturers. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church.
Mrs. Mazur was married to John W. Mazur on May 28, 1933. He died on Nov. 29, 1997.
She is survived by a son, Alfred J. Mazur of Houston, Texas and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Amsterdam Funeral Chapel, 13 Belmont Place, Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Calling hours are Thursday afternoon from 4 until 8 p.m. in the evening at the funeral chapel.
Contributions in Mrs. Mazur's memory may be made to St. Stanislaus Church or to the Greater Amsterdam Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

G. Philip Hagadorn
December 30, 2002
G. Philip Hagadorn, 65, of Schenectady, passed away on Monday at Ellis Hospital.
Mr. Hagadorn was born in Fort Johnson and was the son of the late George and Orlena Collins Hagadorn. Phil lived in Amsterdam before moving to Schenectady in 1978.
He worked in construction before becoming the owner and operator of Hagadorn Trucking Co. Mr. Hagadorn was a member and retiree of Teamsters Local 294, the Elks Lodge No. 2480 and a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church.
Phil is the beloved husband of Florence Van Alstyne Hagadorn. He is the devoted father of Kevin Hagadorn and his wife, Valerie of Perth, Scott Hagadorn and his wife, Racquel of Ballston Spa and Robin Hagadorn and his wife, Suzanne of Amsterdam; stepfather of Robert Tomisman and his wife, Paulette of Schenectady. He is the brother of Shirley Ramsey and Linda Hagadorn, both of Florida and the late Mary Lou Vidas. He is the cherished grandfather of Heather, Robert, Alyssa and Evan.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Avenue). Funeral services will be at 4:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home, calling hours will continue after the service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Teresian House Foundation, 200 Washington Ave., Albany, 12203.

William A. Delongchamp Jr.
January 13, 2003
William A. Delongchamp Jr., 79, of Hickory Hill Road, Fonda, passed away Monday at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam.
Born in Amsterdam on February 19, 1923 a son of William A. and Martha Arndt Delongchamp Sr. He was a resident of the area most of his life. For the last 20 years he had been a resident of the Liberty Residence on Hickory Hill Road in Fonda.
Mr. Delongchamp attended the Liberty Day Treatment Center in Amsterdam and was part of the Seniors Area of the Center. He enjoyed cooking and caring for animals especially dogs.
He was of the Roman Catholic Faith.
He is survived by seven housemates, Frank Anderson, Albert Cudsworth, Nathan Josephowicz, Robert Prime, Curtis Bruno, Rafaele Morales and Ed Scott. Nieces and nephews also survive.
He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Delongchamp and a sister, Alberta Leonetti.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the Jackson & Betz Funeral home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY with the Rev. Pascal Iannotti officiating.
Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam.
A calling hour will precede the funeral service on Thursday beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Contributions may be sent to the Liberty Foundation, 1467 State Highway 5S, Amsterdam, NY 12010.

Augusta Loewenthal
January 12, 2003
Augusta Loewenthal, 89, of East 233rd Street, Bronx, New York, died Sunday at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital after a long illness. She was previously a resident of the Regis Care Center of the Bronx.
Born in Nime, France on November 8, 1913, she was the daughter of Adrien and Marie Ruelo Isnard.
Mrs. Loewenthal was educated in France and came to the United States, settling in New York City in 1949.
She was a homemaker and was married to Walter Loewenthal in 1948.
Survivors include one daughter, Armande Marie Santo of Amsterdam; one sister, Louisa Isnard of the Bronx; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the DeStefano Funeral Home, Rt. 5-S, Amsterdam with the Rev. Lawrence Decker officiating.
The family will received relatives and friends 9:00 a.m. Thursday (one hour prior to services).
Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Shirley M. Potak
January 13, 2003
Mrs. Shirley M. Potak, 80, of Mohawk Drive, Tribes Hill, died Monday afternoon at the St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. She was a patient at the Montgomery Meadows in Amsterdam for the past two months.
Born October 11, 1922 in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of John and Martha Kaufman Seigle. Mrs. Potak was a life long area resident and moved to Tribes Hill in 1953, where she has since lived. She was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School.
Mrs. Potak was a homemaker, a musician, played piano at various concerts and was a former member of the Mohawk Mills Chorus.
She was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Amsterdam, the Art-Wel Chapter #208 Order of the Eastern Star, the V.F.W. Post 55 Women's Auxiliary, where she produced the Christmas shows for children.
Mrs. Potak loved her music, was very creative with arts and crafts, making Christmas ornaments for her family and wrote poetry, where in, many of her poems where published in The Recorder.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph H. Potak who died in 1998 and a son, Randy Potak who died in 1979.
Survivors include her loving family, a daughter, Marsha Watson of Tribes Hill; a granddaughter, Samantha Lynne Watson; three step grandchildren, Ginger Whitman, Dawn Velenovsky and Matthew Watson; nieces and nephws.
A memorial service will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Rev. William E. Siis officiating.
Burial of cremains will take place in spring at the Pine Grove Cemetery.
Family will receive relatives and friends on Friday one hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Tribes Hill Volunteer Fire Department.

Edwin F. Anderson
January 13, 2003
Mr. Edwin F. Anderson, 85, of Shunk Road, Canajoharie, died suddenly Monday, January 13, 2003 at home.
He was born in Union Hill, NJ on February 24, 1917 a son to Warren and Irene Hill Anderson.
Mr. Anderson was a graduate of Union Hill High School, Class of 1936.
Mr. Anderson was employed as a night supervisor at Life Savers in Canajoharie, NY for over 23 years, retiring in 1981.
He was a area resident since 1946, previously residing in Watervliet, NY.
Mr. Anderson was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy as a 2nd Class Petty Officer during the Invasion of Okinawa in 1945.
He was a member of the Canajoharie Reformed Church. He also was a member of the Deacons of Canajoharie Reformed Church and a member of the church's Consistory for nine years; a former member of Hamilton Lodge #79, F & AM and enjoyed spending time with his family and working in his garden.
Mr. Anderson married Helen Smith Anderson on June 15, 1941 in Troy, NY.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Elizabeth Anderson, Canajoharie, NY; three sons, Edwin Robert Anderson, Albany, GA, Howard Warren Anderson, Cobleskill, NY, and David Raymond Anderson, Canajoharie, NY; six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
A 10:00 a.m. funeral service will be held on Friday, January 17, 2003 at the Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY with the Rev. Lisa VanderWal officiating.
Burial will be in Ames Cemetery in the spring.
Family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, January 16 from 6:00-8:00 pm. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ames Volunteer Fire Department, 595 Latimer Hill Road, Canajoharie, NY 13317 or Salvation Army, Empire State Division, 200 Twin Oaks Drive, Syracuse, NY 13206.

Eleanor M. Gramps
January 10, 2003
Mrs. Eleanor M. Gramps, 85, of Timmerman Avenue, St. Johnsville, died Friday, January 10, 2003 at St. Johnsville Nursing home after a long illness.
She was born in Newark, NJ on September 25, 1917 a daughter to John and Edna Shaw Roach.
Mrs. Gramps graduated from Wallkill High School.
Mrs. Gramps was most recently employed as a ward clerk at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY for 10 years before retiring. Prior to that she worked at the former Dievendorf's Store in Fort Plain.
She had been an area resident since 1945.
Mrs. Gramps was a member of the Fort Plain Dutch Reformed Church.
She enjoyed making dolls and creative writing.
Mrs. Gramps is survived by three daughters, Charlene M. Geller, Arizona, Toni E. Hubbard, Savannah, GA, and Elaine A. Reynolds, Ecuador; two brothers, James Roach, Cornwall, NY and George Roach, Highland Falls, NY; six grandchildren; two great granddaughters; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a son, William A. Gramps in October 1995.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
There are no calling hours.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter Inc., 133 Hilltop Road, Sprakers, NY 12166.
