Maria "Mary" C. DiCaprio
August 11, 2003
Maria "Mary" C. DiCaprio, 65, of Broad Street, Amsterdam, passed away Monday morning at her home after a long illness.
Born in Amsterdam on July 20, 1938 a daughter of Anthony and Filomena Fiato Stellato. She was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and was a 1956 Graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam.
Mrs. DiCaprio was a Licensed Beautician for over 25 years in Amsterdam.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam.
She married Sisto A. DiCaprio on October 16, 1960.
In addition to her husband survivors include one daughter, Estelle M. Peek and her husband Cary of Rotterdam; two brothers, Francis A. Stellato and his wife Caroline of Amsterdam and B. Richard Stellato and his wife Norma of Amsterdam; two cherished grandchildren, Erika and Rachel Peek of Rotterdam; sisters-in-law, Marie Miller and her husband John of Hagaman, Ann Stellato and Muriel Stellato; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins also survive.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Louis B. Stellato and John A. Stellato.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 8:15 a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, Inc., 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam.
Interment will be in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice of Amsterdam, Mannys Corners Road, Amsterdam, NY.

Ernestine E. Miller
August 10, 2003
Ernestine E. Miller, 89 formerly of Pennsylvania, died August 10, 2003 in Two Harbors, MN.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Don in 1996.
She is survived by a son Don (Bonnie) of MN; daughter Ruth (Scott) Aspinall of Canada; borther Forrest Thursby of PA; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Arrangments are by the Cavallin Funeral Home. (218) 834-2952.

Alexander L. Bubniak
July 28, 2003
Mr. Alexander L. Bubniak, 82, of Crane Street passed away suddenly Monday afternoon at home.
He was born September 8, 1920 in Amsterdam, NY a son of the late Albert and Victoria Pijanowski Bubniak. Educated locally, he always lived here.
During World War II, Mr.. Bubniak served in the Navy as a Electrician's Mate Second Class. On June 4, 1944 he participated in the USS Guadacanal Task force aboard the USS Flaherty which captured the U-505 off waters of Cape Blanco, West Africa. He also served on the USS Columbus and the USS Shubrick. He was award various service medals including the Presidential Unit Citation with a Bronze Star.
He was employed by the General Electric Company in Schenectady, NY in the Transportation Department for over 20 years, retiring in 1982.
He was a member of St. Stanislaus Church, it's Holy Name Society and the St. Michael the Archangel Society. He was also a member of the St. Stan's Seniors, the Polish-American Veterans and the John J. Wyszomirski American Legion Post 701.
He loved his garden, traveled extensively and enjoyed participating in several ships reunions.
He was married to Adelaide Dybas on August 28, 1949.
In addition to his wife survivors include two sons, William (Donna) Bubniak, Cohoes, NY and Thomas (Rita) Bubniak, Leesburg, Virginia; two daughters, Susan (Michael) Cavanuagh, Ellicott City, Maryland and Mary Ellen (David) Noxon, Charlotte, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Victoria, Lydia and Evan Bubniak, Noah and Alexa Noxon; five brothers, Frank, Joseph A. and Raymond Bubniak, all of Amsterdam, NY, Leon Bubniak, Valrico, Florida and Victor Bubniak, San Jose, California; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by brothers, John, Chester, Richard, Stephen and Alfred and by a sister, Genevieve Bielecki.
The funeral will be held 8:15 Thursday morning at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church Street followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 o'clock at St. Stanislaus Church.
Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Calling hours are 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus School or to St. Stanislaus Church Renovation Fund.

Gene A. Moore
July 27, 2003
Gene A Moore, 57, of Fultonville, Hamlet of Randall passed away at home Sunday morning after a long illness.
Born in Little Falls, NY on December 31, 1945. He was the son of Elden Moore and Bertha Wall Swisler. He grew up in Canajoharie then moving to Randall in 1970.
Mr. Moore was in the U.S. Navy serving in Viet Nam and the Phillipines from January 8, 1963-January 8, 1969.
He was employed with the General Electric in Schenectady as a machinist for 27 years.
Gene became a member of the Watson Family on March 2, 1996 when he married Donna DeSimone of Canajoharie.
He was a very active member of the Rural Grove Fire Company for 25 years serving in the past as president and assistant chief, the Johnstown V.F.W. Post 510, the AFLCIO Union Local 301 of Schenectady, and the Quarter Century Club of the GE.
Gene enjoyed fishing and camping and the finer things in life.
Survivors besides his wife Donna are three daughters, Jeanna Johnson and Angela Moore of Whitingham, VT, Laura Singh of Sacramento, CA; one brother, Sonnie Moore and his wife Terri of Richmondville, NY; one sister Irene Vogel and family of Fort Plain, NY; one aunt Margaret Dickins; five grandchildren, Codie and Cameron Johnson, Monjot Gene and Sapan Singh and Emma Gene Dornburgh; also several nieces, nephews and cousins and his princess Jamie.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY with Reverend Lisa Vander Wal, officiating.
Burial will be in Canajoharie Falls Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Tuesday at the funeral home from 5;00-8;00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rural Grove Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 219, Sprakers, NY 12166, or the Mid County Ambulance, Erie Blvd. Canajoharie, NY 13317.

Sherman A. Morse Jr.
July 27, 2003
Sherman A. Morse Jr., 91, of Hendersonville, NC and New York State, died Sunday, July 27, 2003 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, MD.
Born January 9, 1912, in Passaic, NJ to the late Nevada P. Tyrrell and Sherman A. Morse.
He was educated in Illinois and New York. He retired in 1971 as Senior Vice President of Operations, from Beech-Nut Life Savers, Inc., after a career of 37 years. He was a former director of Table Talk Pies Co., The Fairmount Box Co., Kiltie Confections Ltd., Dundee, South Africa; Robert Timms Coffee and Tea Pty., Melbourne, Australia; and Tetley Tea, London, England.
He was a trustee of Amsterdam Memorial Hospital, Amsterdam, NY; director of National Canners Association, Washington, DC; chairman of long range planning, Sir William Johnson Boy Scouts of America; he was listed in Who's Who, America & Overseas. Memberships include, Columbia University Club, Lake Placid Club, Fort Rensselaer Club, Hendersonville Country Club, US Power Squadron, and First Congregational Church, Henderson, NC.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Andrews Morse, who died September 23, 1996.
He is survived by his son, Jeffrey A. Morse and daughter-in-law Janet B. Morse of Ocean Pines, MD; three grandchildren, Janette N. Vautrain and husband, Gerald of Easthampton, MA, Jennifer A. Schmidt and husband, John of Huntsville, AL and Jeffrey A, Morse Jr. of Raleigh, NC; and great grandchildren, Fiorella L. Vautrain and Jacob A. Schmidt.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by Holloway Funeral Home 501 Snow Hill Road, Salisbury, MD 21804.

Eileen E. Luke
July 27, 2003
Mrs. Eileen E. Luke, 81, of Grand Street, Amsterdam, passed away Sunday morning at her home.
Born in Bramanville, NY on May 19, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Anna Hurley Nethaway.
Mrs. Luke received her education in the Schoharie-Richmondville School District and was employed at Collette Manufacturing, of Amsterdam as a packer, retiring in 1977.
Mrs. Luke was a member of V.F.W. Post 55 Ladies Auxiliary, Amsterdam, NY.
Mrs. Luke was predeceased by her husband Lawrence J. Luke, to whom she married August 13, 1944. Mr. Luke passed away on October 15, 1976.
Mrs. Luke is survived by her son, Robert M. Nethaway and his wife Karen of Fultonville, NY; her daughter, Mary Anne Vidulich and her husband Nick of Amsterdam, NY; one brother, Edgar Nethaway, Cobleskill, NY and one sister, Eleanor Diamond of Central Bridge, NY; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins, great nieces and nephews also survive.
Three brothers and two sisters predeceased Mrs. Luke.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Riley Mortuary Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
Interment will be at Greenhill Cemetery, Amsterdam, NY.
Calling hours will be (today) Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the mortuary.
Memorial gifts in Mrs. Luke's name may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Valeria (Violet, Vi) Wawrzonek
August 11, 2003
Mrs. Valeria (Violet, Vi) Wawrzonek, 72, of Reid Street passed away Monday evening at the Albany Medical Center Hospital, Albany, NY.
She was born June 26, 1931 in Amsterdam, New York a daughter of the late John and Catherine Silka Bednarczyk. She was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School - Class of 1949 and always resided here.
Mrs. Wawrzonek was co-proprietor of Fred's Flower Shop in Amsterdam for 48 years.
She was also a homemaker.
She was a member of the Church of St. John the Baptist. She served as treasurer of the Amsterdam Florist Association. She was a St. John's Pierogi Lady. She was also a member of the Polish National Alliance.
She was married to Fred C. Wawrzonek on September 10, 1955.
In addition to her husband survivors include one daughter, Kathleen A. Ratajczak (Paul), Amsterdam, NY; one son Wayne M. Wawrzonek (Lisa Cerniglia), Amsterdam, NY; three grandchildren, Justin Wawrzonek, Jonathan Wawrzonek and Brandon Ratajczak; two sisters, Dorothy Bednarczyk and Jeanette (Chester) Sokalski both of Amsterdam, NY; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins and special friend Kelsey Cerniglia.
She was predeceased by a son, Fred J. Wawrzonek in 1989.
The funeral will be held 9:15 Saturday morning at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 o'clock at the Church of St. John the Baptist.
Interment will be in St. Stanisluas Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Friday.
Flowers are acceptable, however, memorial contributions may also be made to the Church of St. John the Baptist, or a charity of choice.

Patricia Olazagasti
August 12, 2003
Patricia L. Wilsey Olazagasti, 58, of Hurley, died Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at her home in Hurley. Patricia was born in Albany, NY and was raised in Selkirk, NY. She has lived in the Kingston area for four years. She had worked as the office manager for her husband's medical practice.
Survivors include her husband, Rafael Olazagasti, MD of Hurley; son, Rafael Olazagasti III; mother, Ann Wilsey of Selkirk; grandchildren, Isabella Grace and Rafael IV Olazagasti; five brothers, John, James, Keith, Gregory, and Richard Wilsey; and sister, Ellen Delello.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 Saturday morning August 16 at St. Patrick's Church, Ravena.
There are no calling hours.
Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Coeymans.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate contributions in memory of Patricia to the Ulster County Hospice, 34 Broadway, Kingston, NY 12401.

Sandra D'Addio
August 15, 2003
Sandra A. D'Addio, 53, of Luther Street, Amsterdam, died Friday at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady.
She was born Jan. 9, 1950 in Amsterdam, the daughter of Anthony and Nancy DiCaprio D'Addio. She was a lifelong resident of the Amsterdam area.
Sandy graduated from the former Perth Central School in 1968. She was a certified nursing assistant. Sandy was of the Catholic faith. She supported many charitable organizations and enjoyed baking for family and friends.
Survivors are her son, Christopher M.. Kaszuba of Brick, N.J.; her daughter, Jennifer M. Kaszuba of Amsterdam; two brothers, Michael D'Addio of Perth and David D'Addio of Amsterdam; her granddaughter, Karah Jennifer Kaszuba; nieces; a nephew and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam with the Rev. Ron Matulewicz officiating. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hagaman Volunteer Fire Dept. or the Greater Amsterdam Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Winifred Davis
August 15, 2003
Mrs. Winifred Dabrowski Davis, 99, formerly of Pulaski Street, Amsterdam, died Friday morning at Mt. Loretto Nursing Home.
Born on Nov. 28, 1903 in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of Anthony and Pelagia Lulkowska Dabrowski. Mrs. Davis was a graduate of St. Stanislaus School and later graduated from Spencer Business School in Amsterdam. She was a lifelong area resident.
She was married to James E. Davis. He died in 1964.
Mrs. Davis was a member of the Good Shepherd Polish National Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Artwel Chapter of the Eastern Star in Amsterdam.
Mrs. Davis is survived by her daughter, Constance Davis DuCanto of Chicago, Ill.; her sister, Florence D. Collins of Amsterdam; two grandsons, Anthony DuCanto of Chicago, Ill. and Dr. James C. DuCanto of Milwaukee, Wis.; two great-grandchildren; two nieces and a nephew.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Amsterdam Funeral Chapel, 13 Belmont Place, Amsterdam, followed by a graveside service at 10 a.m. at Good Shepherd Cemetery with the Rev. Andrzej Machowski officiating. Burial will be in Good Shepherd Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Sunday afternoon from 2 until 4 at the funeral chapel.
At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Davis' memory to the Good Shepherd Church, 27 Teller St., Amsterdam, N.Y., 12010.
