Ingrid Donahue
November 20, 1996
Ingrid M. Donahue, 72, of Anderson Road, Sprakers, died Wednesday evening at home.
Born April 8, 1924 in Koingburg, Germany, she was the daughter of Professor Willy J. Resky and Martha Wiemer. She came to the United States when she was 6 years old and came to this area in 1968 from the Bronx. She was educated in New York City Schools and graduated from the Conservatory School of Music in Brooklyn and attended the Juliard School of Music in New York City, where she received a degree in composing and choir directing.
For many years she was an organ and piano teacher in New York City and Randall retiring in 1994.
She was a member of the Fultonville Reformed Church and was the church organist and choir director for 18 years.
She also played organ at many area churches.
She married Ronald P. Donahue on May 6, 1968.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a sister, Ruth Foster of Calicuan and four nieces.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home 15 Main St., Fultonville.
Burial in Maple Avenue Cemtery Fultonville.
Calling hours are from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rural Grove Volunteer Fire Department or to the Fonda-Fultonville Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

George Dicks
November 29, 1996
George Edward Dicks, 84, of Canal Street, Fort Plain, died Friday evening at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam after a brief illness.
He was born in St. Johnsville Jan. 28, 1912, the son of Isaac and Lillian Shepard Dicks. Mr. Dicks was a 1930 graduate of Fort Plain High School and a lifelong area resident.
He was employed as a toll and die maker and as a machinist at Beech-Nut Packing Co. in Canajoharie for more than 40 years, retiring in 1977.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was married to Mildred Z. Knapp for 60 years. She died Jan. 7.
Survivors include a son, Robert A. Dicks Sr. of Whitesboro; a sister, Elsie Dicks of Syracuse; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center St., Fort Plain, with the Rev. Jeff Thibodeau officiating.
Burial will be in Fort Plain Cemetery.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Anna Miles
November 30, 1996
Anna Miles, 83, formerly of Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, died Saturday at Montgomery Meadows.
She was born May 6, 1913, in Amsterdam, the daughter of James and Mary Miklonis Barkevich. She attended Amsterdam schools and was a lifelong Amsterdam resident.
Mrs. Miles was a self-employed seamstress.
She was married to Clayton Miles. He died in February 1983.
Survivors include a daughter, Jeanne Morales of Amsterdam; a brother, William Barkevich of Amsterdam; a sister, Frances Nolan of Amsterdam; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Rossi Funeral Home, 11 Mohawk Place, Amsterdam, with the Rev. Joseph Grabys officiating.
Burial will be in St. Casimir's Cemetery.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Amsterdam Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Stella Podolski
December 1, 1996
Stella A. Szymczak Podolski, 76, of Witbeck Drive, Glenville, died suddenly at her home Sunday after being stricken.
Born Feb. 6, 1920 in Galway, she was the daughter of Adam and Sophia Grefkowicz Szymczak. Mrs. Podolski had lived in Glenville for nearly 50 years. She was a graduate of Galway High School.
She was a member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Glenville and the Rosary Altar Society of the church.
Mrs. Podolski had worked as an election inspector for the East Glenville district for 18 years.
A longtime member of the Immaculate Conception Quilting Group, she was also a member of the Leisure Club of Scotia. Most recently she had worked as a volunteer for the Burnt Hills School Library.
She married Stanley W. Podolski on Oct. 20, 1946.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Janice Weisen of Sterling, Va. and Joyce King of Montoursville, Pa.; a sister, Natalie Jankowski of Broadalbin; a brother, Stanley Szymczak of Burnt Hills; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Road, E. Glenville. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Galway.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

James Bennett
December 1, 1996
James G. Bennett, 85, of 29 W. Main St., Mayfield, died Sunday at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, following a long illness.
Born Oct. 23, 1911 in Gloversville, he was the son of Fred I. and Lucy Sleppy Bennett.
He resided in Gloversville most of his life and lived in Mayfield the past 20 years. Mr. Bennett served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was employed as a construction worker with the Schenectady Union Local for several years, retiring in 1973.
Mr. Bennett is a former member of the North Main Street United Methodist Church in Gloversville.
He married Verna Alter on Dec. 24, 1956.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Joanne Bennett of Tucson, Ariz., and Penny Lynn Bennett of Mayfield; a sister, Lillian Brayton of Orlando, Fla.; four grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Walrath & Bushouer Funeral Home, Inc., 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, with the Rev. Susan Clunn, pastor of the North Main St., United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Beverly Brooks
November 30, 1996
Beverly Brooks Shadick, 69, of Coxsackie, died Saturday at the Albany Memorial Hospital.
Born in Amsterdam, she had lived in Albany for many years before moving to Coxsackie in 1991. She was employed in the traffic division for the City of Albany for several years, retiring in 1990.
Survivors include three daughters, Donna P. Shadick of Coxsackie, Sharon L. Shadick of Albany and Michelle L. Hernandez of Selkirk; a son, Charles Shadick III of Albany; a sister, Doris M. Iannotti of Broadalbin; two brothers, Kenneth L. Brooks of Rensselaer and Thomas M. Brooks of Pattersonville; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Janene L. Trianni.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, 1200 Central Ave., Colonie. Interment will be in Memory's Garden in Colonie.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Coxsackie Rescue Squad and Fire Department.

Brittany Kellogg
November 30, 1996
Brittany Alisa Christina Kellogg, 3 months old, infant daughter of Jennifer Kellogg and Greg Hollister, of 38 Northampton Road, Amsterdam, died Saturday at St. Mary's Hospital.
She was born Aug. 22 in Amsterdam.
In addition to her parents, survivors include her maternal grandparents, George and Susan Mattas Kellogg III, maternal great-grandparents, Marvin and Freda Brooker Austin of Vail Mills, and Josephine Jobes Kellogg of Amsterdam; paternal grandparents Greg Hollister of Fort Hunter and Christina Becker Hollister of Amsterdam; her paternal great-grandparents, Hauser and Helen Hunt Becker off Amsterdam; and also several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A prayer service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Betz Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, with the Rev. Victor Polito officiating. Burial will be in the spring at the Green Hill Cemetery, Amsterdam.

Anna Miles
November 30, 1996
Mrs. Anna Miles, 83, formerly of Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, died Saturday at Montgomery Meadows.

Ida Sidlauskas
December 1, 1996
Ida Sidlauskas (Schell) of Lincoln Avenue, Amsterdam, died Sunday evening at the Montgomery Meadows after a long illness.
Born and educated in Amsterdam, she was employed by Adirondack Knitting before her retirement.
She was a communicant of St. Casimir's Roman Catholic parish.
She is survived by two sisters, Emily Sidlauskas (Schell) and Edna Luzinas, both of Amsterdam; two brothers, Alfred Schell of Amsterdam and Ben Schell of Bonita Springs, Fla.; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted at the convenience of the family.
There will be no calling hours.
Interment is in St. Casimir's Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the Rossi Funeral Home, 11 Mohawk Place.

Frank Sinda
December 1, 1996
Frank Sinda, 80, of Clark Avenue, Amsterdam, died Sunday at Albany Veterans Hospital.
Born Jan. 25, 1916 in Amsterdam, he was the son of Joseph Sinda and Anna Janusz.
Mr. Sinda was employed as a carpet inspector for Bigelow Sanford Carpet Mills and later worked at Ward Products.
He was a 1934 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam.
Mr. Sinda was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was of the Catholic faith, and a member of the Church of St. John the Baptist. He was also a member of former St. John's Club.
Survivors include a brother, Robert J. Sinda of Amsterdam; a sister, Sadie Adams of Albuquerque, N.M.; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Guzielek-Pomykaj Funeral Home, followed by a 9 a.m. service at the church.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Rev. William Knorr
November 30, 1996
The Rev. William M. Knorr, 85, of Reed Street, Northville, died Saturday at Montgomery Meadows in Amsterdam after a long illness.
Born in Shamokin, Pa., the Rev. Knorr was a graduate of Shamokin High School and the Practical Bible Training School in Johnson City in 1935.
He served as a pastor in Maryland, South Valley and Unadilla, all in Otsego County; Perth, Fort Plain, Sherburne, Vestal and Cranberry Creek.
He also served on the staffs of Piedmont Bible College in Winston Salem, N.C., and the Practical Bible Training School.
He was a resident of Northville since 1980, when he retired, and was for many years an interim pastor at area churches.
He married Mae Coon Knorr on Sept. 1, 1934.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Sterling Knorr of Mebane, N.C.; a daughter, Sylvia Brooks of Northville; a brother, Keith Knorr of Dansville, Pa.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Baptist Church of Northville. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Otego, in the spring.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Northville Funeral Home, 401 Bridge St.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Church of Northville Missionary Fund.
