Charles Wadsworth
December 3, 1996
Charles E. Wadsworth, 67, of Ridge Road, Northville, died Tuesday at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville after being stricken at home.
A lifelong resident, Mr. Wadsworth was a 1947 graduate of Northville Central School. He was a logger and also worked for the Paul Bradt Construction Co. for more than 30 years.
He married Julia Bovee Wadsworth on April 28, 1949.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Charles James Wadsworth of Delray Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Cheri McNamara of Jupiter, Fla. and Marilyn Wadsworth of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; two brothers, Robert Wadsworth of Broadalbin and Michael O'Neil of El Paso, Texas; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be private. Spring burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Northville Funeral Home, 401 Bridge St.
Memorial contributions may be made to Northampton Volunteer Ambulance Squad.

Emily Cross
December 5, 1996
Mrs. Emily Hurlbut Cross, 82, of Saddlemire Hill Road, Sloansville, died Thursday at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown after a long illness.
Born in Arkport, Mrs. Cross was a 1935 graduate of the New York State Teachers College in Albany. Prior to her marriage, she taught in Johnstown.
She was a member of the Grosvenors Corners Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
Mrs. Cross was also a member of the Schoharie County Sheepman's Association and the Alumni Association of New York State Teachers. She was one of the original petitioners for the start up of the Community Hospital of Schoharie County, now Bassett Hospital of Schoharie County.
She married Robert R. Cross Sr.on Aug. 22, 1936.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Margaret S. Mattice of Seward and Dorothy C. Mueller of Sloansville; four sons, Robert R. Jr., Allan V., Richard H. and Gardiner W. Cross, all of Sloansville; and 12 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Grosvenors Corners Methodist Church.
Arrangements are by the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home in Cobleskill.

Sister Laurentia Bialkowska
December 12, 1996
Sister Laurentia Bialkowska C.R. 86, Sister of the Resurrection, died Thursday at Mount Loretto Nursing Home, Amsterdam.
Born April 10, 1910 in Poland, she was the daughter of Gregory and Rosalie Koralczyk Bialkowski.
She entered the religious order in 1940 and had celebrated her 50th anniversary in the profession in June of 1992. She served in the convents in Castleton, New York City, Yonkers, and Mount Loretto Nursing Home.
She is survived by a sister, Anna Malec of Central Falls, R.I.; three nephews and one great-niece.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Provencial Home Chapel of the Sisters of the Resurrection in Castleton.
Burial will take place in Resurrection Cemetery in Castleton.
Calling hours are from 3 to 5 p.m. today in the Provincialate, 35 Boltwood Ave., Castleton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of the Resurrection Memorial Fund, 35 Boltwood Ave., Castleton, 12033-1011.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Lasak and Gigliotti Funeral Home, 8 Dudley Heights, Albany.

Lawrence "Larry" Fowler
December 11, 1996
Lawrence M. "Larry" Fowler, 55, of 216 Hickory Hill Road, Fort Plain, died Wednesday at his home.
Born July 19, 1941 in Little Falls, he was the son of William M. and Betty (Nellis) Fowler. He was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School and also attended Franklin Institute of Boston and the Rochester Institute of Technology. He lived most of his life in the St. Johnsville area.
He married Joanne Zoller on June 9, 1962, in St. Johnsville.
Mr. Fowler served with the United States Air Force enlisting in 1959 and was honorably discharged in 1963. While serving his country, he received the Good Conduct Medal.
For 30 years, Mr. Fowler worked as a service representative for the Niagara Mohawk Power Corp.
He was a member of St. John's Reformed Church and also a member of St. Johnsville Masonic Lodge, F&AM No. 611 and Fort Plain American Legion Post No. 554.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne, his children, Tara Stanton of Delray Beach, Fla.; Tamara Fowler of Glens Falls; Scott Fowler of Wilmington, N.C., Tanya Askew of Great Falls, Mont., Troy Fowler of Fort Plain; his step-mother, Elizabeth Fowler of Gloversville; four brothers, William, James, John and Chris Fowler; eight sisters, Judy VanDusen, Janet Hurwitz, Karen Fowler, Patricia Johnston, Mary Kiernan, Maureen Poorman, Kathleen Fornandes and Nancy Thornton; two grandchildren, Jared Fowler and Taylor Askew, several nieces, nephews and cousins, aunts and uncles.
He was pre-deceased by a daughter, Tracy Fowler.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Reformed Church, St. Johnsville, with the Rev. Russell Camp officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.
Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Smith-Woody and Enea Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville. Members of the St. Johnsville Masonic Lodge F&AM No. 611 are asked to meet at the funeral home this evening at 7 for services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 73 N. Main St., Gloversville, 12078.

Gregory Guzzo
December 12, 1996
Gregory A. Guzzo, 75, of Sandalwood Lane, Glenville, died Thursday at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady after being stricken at home.
Born in Herkimer, Mr. Guzzo moved to Gloversville at the age of 10. He was a 1940 graduate of Gloversville High School. Mr. Guzzo resided in Glenville for the past 31 years.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Germany. After the war, he attended Albany Business College.
He worked for the General Electric Co. and later transferred to the Pittsfield plant, where he worked in the large steam turbine department. He retired from GE as a supervisor in 1981.
Mr. Guzzo was also a photographer. He won many awards and distinctions for his work. He was a member of the Schenectady Photographic Society.
He was also a member of the Annie Schaffer Senior Citizens and the Wednesday Senior Golf League at Riverview Country Club in Rexford.
Mr. Guzzo was a communicant of the Church of the Immaculate Conception.
He married Margaret Zayicek Guzzo on June 2, 1947.
In addition to his wife survivors include a son, G. Thomas Guzzo of Baldwinsville and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at noon at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Route 50.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until the service Monday at the funeral home.
Spring burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery in Johnstown.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association, both in Albany.

Laura Borst
December 11, 1996
Mrs. Laura Kimmey Borst, 78, of Hammerstone Village, died Wednesday at the Eden Park Nursing Home after a long illness.
Born in Carlisle, Mrs. Borst was a lifelong area resident. She was a graduate of Cobleskill Central High School.
She worked at J.J. Newberry's and the Cobleskill Times-Journal, retiring in 1988.
She married C. Arlington Borst in 1939.
In addition to her husband, survivors include three daughters, Martha Becker of Carlisle and Linda Lawton and Janet Lawton, both of Schoharie; two sons, William Borst of Burlington, N.C., and John Borst of Irasburg, Vt.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11a.m. Saturday at the Robert A. Guffin Funeral Home, 1 Chapel St. Spring burial will be in Slate Hill Cemetery, Town of Sharon.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to charity or the Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Association in Albany.

Hubert "Hubie" Winkler
December 11, 1996
Hubert F. Winkler, 72, of Westland Drive, Knoxville, Tenn., formerly of Schenectady, died Wednesday at home after a long illness.
Born and educated in Schenectady, Mr. Winkler moved to Tennessee a few years ago.
He was a graduate of the former St. Joseph's Academy, the University of Michigan and received a master's degree in civil engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
For 38 years, Mr. Winkler was a civil engineer for New York state before retiring.
He was a member of the Knights of St. John 100.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Morrell Winkler; two daughters, Madeline Kline of Knoxville and Wendy Taylor of Schenectady; a brother, Joseph H. Winkler of Schenectady; two sisters, Anna M. Winkler and Lois Frame, both of Schenectady and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9:15 a.m. Saturday at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., and at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, during which the Knights of St. John will conduct a service at 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2330 Watt St., Schenectady 12304.

Joseph Spagnolo
December 13, 1996
Joseph S. Spagnolo, 76, of Lake Road, Galway, died Friday morning at Maplewood Manor in Ballston Spa after a long illness.
Born in Galway Feb. 10, 1920, he was the son of Serafino and Lily Campochiro Spagnolo. He moved to Amsterdam as a child and was educated here. He lived here most of his life before returning to Galway several years ago.
He was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam.
Survivors include a sister, Margaret Santorelli of Galway and Port Richie, Fla.; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are Monday at 11 a.m. at the Rossi Funeral Home, 11 Mohawk Place, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.
Interment is in St. Michael's Cemetery.
Calling hours will begin at 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Maplewood Manor in care of the Rossi Funeral Home.

John Knox Sr.
December 13, 1996
John B. Knox Sr., 78, of Route 8, Piseco, died Friday morning at home after being stricken.
He was born July 22, 1918, in Gloversville, the son of James and Eleanor Williams Knox. He attended school in Gloversville.
He was an instructor of pilots in the Air Force during World War II. He was the retired president of Knox Gelatin of Johnstown and had a lifelong interest in conservation and aviation.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Baez Knox; two sons, John B. Knox Jr. of Caroga Lake and James Knox of Piseco; four daughters, Anna Halleck of California, Roseanne Beaudin of Connecticut, Kimberly Knox of Colorado and Amy Larsen of Middletown; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Piseco Community Hall with the Rev. Ted Ruggles officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
Burial will be private.
Memorial contribution may be made to the Piseco Volunteer Ambulance Corps or the Lake Pleasant Methodist Church.
Arrangements are by the Northville Funeral Home.

Aniela "Nellie" Kosiba
December 15, 1996
Aniela "Nellie" Kosiba, 89, of Van Derveer Street, Amsterdam, died Sunday at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 14, 1907 in Schenectady, she came to the Amsterdam area in 1932. She was educated in Schenectady.
Mrs. Kosiba was employed by the former Bigelow-Sanford Carpet Mills and later worked for Consolidated Novelty until retiring.
She was a member of the St. Stanislaus Ladies Rosary Society; The St. John's Ladies Rosary Society and was a St. John's Pierogi Lady.
She was a member of the Church of St. John The Baptist and a former member of St. Stanislaus Church.
She married Albert A. Kosiba on Sept. 17, 1932. He died June 4, 1980.
Survivors include one son, Leo M. Kosiba of Alpharetta, Ga.; one brother, Edward Panfil of Burnt Hills; two grandsons, Michael Kosiba of Alpharetta, Ga., and Robert Kosiba of Gainesville, Ga.; two granddaughters, Katherine Kosiba of Roswell, Ga.; and Christine Kosiba of Page, Ariz.; four great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Guzielek-Pomykaj Funeral Home, 13 Belmont Place, followed at 9 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of St. John the Baptist.
Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The St. Stanislaus Ladies Rosary Society will recite the Rosary at 4:15 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Church of St. John the Baptist.
