Anna Mae Gahr Mackie, 91, of Kline Street, Amsterdam, died Tuesday at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Born Nov. 26, 1905, she was the daughter of William and Anna Gahr. She was educated in Amsterdam.
Mrs. Mackie was a re-winder for Mohasco Industries for more than 46 years, retiring in 1967.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for more than 60 years and was also a member of its former Faithful Daughters group.
Her husband, Thomas W. Mackie, whom she married Sept. 2, 1933, died in 1986.
Survivors include a daughter, Anne Busseno of Amsterdam; a grandson, and great-grandson.
The funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday at the Betz Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam. The Rev. Robert Doxey will officiate.
A calling hour will precede the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 40 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam.
Harriet LeFevre
April 29, 1997
Harriet R. LeFevre, 97, of the Palatine Nursing Home, died Monday at the nursing home after a long illness.
Born in Grahamsville Jan. 11, 1900, she was the daughter of Daniel LeFevre and Genivieve Thornton.
She graduated from Schenectady schools.
Miss LeFevre operated Rachel's Dress Shop in Saugerties and later worked at the Saugerties Public Library.
She lived at the nursing home since September 1990. She previously lived in Saugerties.
Miss LeFevre was an Episcopalian.
Survivors include a niece, Susan L. Kraus of Lake Pleasant; two great-nephews and several cousins.
Services will be private.
Arrangements are by the Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Canajo-harie.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made by the Saugerties Public Library, Saugerties 12477.
Robert Cheney
April 28, 1997
Robert L. Cheney, 68, of Cayadetta Street, Gloversville, died Monday at home after being stricken.
Born in Ticonderoga, Mr. Cheney served as an Army paratrooper in the Pacific Theater of Operatrions during World War II.
He was a stick dryer operator for the Pan Am Tannery before retiring in 1985.
Mr. Cheney was a former member of the Foresters Club and the Bleecker Fish and Game Club.
His wife, Katherine Cheney, died in 1992.
Survivors include three daughters, Ann Cheney of Mayfield, Roberta Sawyer and Claudia Thompson, both of Gloversville; two sisters, Lelia White of Johnstown and Hilda Decker of Gloversville; his mother, Laura Morrison of Gloversville; five grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday at the Amico Funeral Home, 150 S. Main St.
Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to charity.
Raymond Rogers
April 28, 1997
Raymond J. Rogers, 78, of Fiery Hill Road, Fort Plain, died Monday night at Little Falls Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Starkville July 16, 1918, he was the son of John Rogers and Verna Nestle. He attended the Van Hornesville school.
Mr. Rogers was employed by the Town of Stark Highway Department as superintendent of highways for many years and later worked for the Herkimer County Highway Department in various capacities, retiring as foreman in 1986 after 17 years of service.
He was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Rogers was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the Starkville United Methodist Church, a member of VFW Post 3275 of Fort Plain, and a trustee of the Starkville United Methodist Church.
He married Edna Suits Nov. 9, 1946, in Fort Plain.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Richard J. Rogers Sr. of Fort Plain and Bernard J. Rogers Sr. of Harve-de-Grace, Md.; a daughter, Linda S. Jackson of Fort Plain; a sister, Dorothy Moore of Herkimer; a brother, Harold Rogers of Oneonta; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Friday at the Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center St., with the Rev Joseph Timlin officiating.
Burial will be in Van Hornesville Cemetery with graveside military honors.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, during which VFW Post 3275 will hold a service at 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance Service, Box126, Canajoharie, 13317; or Starkville United Methodist Church, in care of Clarissa Young, treasurer, 443 Hoke Road, Fort Plain 13339.
Beverly DeMars
graveside service
A graveside service for Beverly E. Demars, who died Dec. 23, 1996, is scheduled 10 a.m. Thursday in the Hagaman Cemetery, Hagaman.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Riley Mortuary, Amsterdam.
Jean Nolan
April 28, 1997
T. Jean Nolan, 73, died Monday in Livingston, Mont., after a long illness.
She was born May 11, 1923.
Survivors include five children, Gwen Novick of Clifton Park; Gregg Nolan of Bloomsbury, N.J., Lisa LaBrake of Hagaman, Phalle Colvin of Livingston, Mont., and David Nolan of Reigelsville, Pa.; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A tree was planted in her memory on Tuesday at the LaBrake home.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Dahl Funeral Home, Bozeman, Mont.

A graveside service for Raymond J. Bush, who died Dec. 24, 1996, is scheduled at 11 a.m. Thursday in Green Hill Cemetery, Amsterdam.
Arrangements are by the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church St., Amsterdam.
Laura Wukitsch
April 29, 1997
Laura Isabel Wukitsch, 79, of Gina Marie Court, Rotterdam, died Tuesday at Albany Medical Center Hospital after a long illness.
Born Oct. 23, 1917, she was the daughter of Joseph Isabel and Raffael Veneroso. She was educated in Amsterdam and was a graduate of St. Mary's Institute in Amsterdam. She had been a resident of Rotterdam for 42 years.
For more than 10 years, she worked for the state Department of Social Services in Albany, retiring as a senior clerk in1983.
Mrs. Wukitsch was a member of St. Gabriel's Roman Catholic Church and its Women's Club.
Her husband, Julius Wukitsch Jr., whom she married May 23, 1953, died in 1982.
Survivors include three sons, Paul J. Wukitsch of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, David J. Wukitsch of Glenmont and John B. Wukitsch of Rotterdam; a sister, Rose Veneroso of Albany; and seven grandchildren.
The funeral service is 8:15 a.m. Friday at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway and Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, followed at 9 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Gabriel's Church.
Burial will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
William Nikstenas
April 23, 1997
William W. Nikstenas, 71, of 32815 Lake Shore Blvd., Willowick, Ohio, died April 23.
He was the son of James and Josephine Nikstenas of Amsterdam, and a 1943 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School.
Mr. Nikstenas was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Japanese Theater of Operations. After the war, he attended the University of Buffalo, earning a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering. He retired from General Motors, Cleveland, in 1985 after 30 years of service.
Survivors include two daughters, Lori Ann Petraitis of Indooroopilly, Queensland, Australia, and Donna Nykas of Cleveland; a son, William V. Nikstenas of Los Angeles; a brother, Edward Z. Nichols of Framingham, Mass.; three grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were April 26 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, Cleveland. Interment was in All Souls' Cemetery, Chardon, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Neural Intensive Care Unit, Lake County-West Hospital, Willoughby, Ohio 44094.
Phyllis Casano
April 29, 1997
Phyllis J. Casano, 82, of 465 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, died Tuesday afternoon at Albany Medical Center after a short illness.
Born Aug. 5, 1914, in Gloversville, she was the daughter of Dominic and Agnes Vetri Montano. She was a 1932 of Gloversville High School. She moved to Amsterdam in 1939 where she had since resided.
She was a homemaker , a member of St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary and the Amsterdam Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Mrs. Casano was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam.
On Oct. 11, 1940, she married Dr. Andrew A. Casano. He died Sept. 29, 1976.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. A. Andrew Casano of Albany and David Casano of Amsterdam; a sister, Josephine Martin of Gloversville; seven grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services are 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Betz Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 a.m., at St. Mary's Roman Church, East Main Street, Amsterdam.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Montgomery County Chapter, in care of the funeral home.
Elvira Marsicano
April 30, 1997
Elvira Marsicano, 87, of Tryon Street, Amsterdam, died this morning at Sentara-Leigh Memorial Hospital, Virginia Beach, Va., after a long illness.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the DeStefano Funeral Home, Route 5S, Amsterdam.
